Let me begin with the massive amounts of trash at the entrance to this place. That should have been a sign. Really do not mind items being outdated, but when you bowl for two hours and the lane breaks down four times, its time to make a major overhaul for repairs. It is the cheapest place to bowl, but your chances of getting pink eye or getting stabbed over which bowling ball was yours is not worth it. Bowl at your own risk. The only reason I didnt give it a one-star is because my wife picked it out, and we had fun overall.

Time machines must be real because this felt like we were in 1999, in a good way. The machines are super old and retro, but work perfectly fine and fast. I liked the old graphics on the screen when scoring. The place does smell like smoke with smoking allowed inside, but not too bad on the lanes. The beer was a little on the flatter side, but the nachos were good. Definitely will go back. My biggest critique is I wish they would have dimmed some of the lights, it was super bright in there!

A blast from the past in the best ways possible. Love the atmosphere. I m not even a smoker but the smoke smell lends to the nostalgia, so dare I say I enjoy it? Affordable fun and I love that nothing has been updated since the 90 s. I m glad I found a fun go-to for the weekends.

Please ignore negative Nancy s guys. I ve been here now 3 times, WITH our child. Yes, they allow smoking. What place do you know now a days that allows that? I think it s cool that we have at least one option in town that I know of. Other than the smoking thing, it s 10$ a person to play bowling! You ve got old school machines that are nice, pool table in the front, as well as golf which we haven t tried yet. My husband and I got 2 beers for like 10$ the bartender in the AM is awesome. The cooks also know what they re doing. We had cheese tots and pizza and man did we leave happy. I found this place after thrift shopping and was so happy to see they had a bar. Hole in the wall for sure a hidden gem. Thank you for your establishment!!

We came here today for my birthday with my kids and family. If I would have known this was not a smoke free facility I WOUDNT have come. I have asthma and so does my daughter . Now we are at home coughing. Definitely not a family friendly facility! I wouldn t recommend you wasting your money and time here. Took me and my daughter over a week to recover from the second hand smoke.

Lake Lanes was overall a wonderful experience! We made a reservation and it was easy to get checked and receive the shoes, all the equipment (although dated and that most definitely being part of the charm) worked well and the lane seating area was spacious, not crowded in a weeknight either! The bar area was hopping and we enjoyed listening in on the karaoke taking place. A certain individual named Glen did a version of Rhinestone Cowboy I particularly enjoyed! Our group had a great time, I will say there was definitely a prominent smoking presence, it was tolerable, but those with respiratory issues may want to take that into consideration, but really not terrible for an establishment with open smoking policies.

Yes! They allow smoking at the bar. I still keep going back. Maybe Im nuts, or maybe I realize that my daily dose of smog is just as bad, if not worse. However, they also allow bowling at the lanes, walking on the floors, talking with friends, and eating and drinking what you ordered. Great fun, great price!!! I recommend you go there today and bowl. If you dont bowl, learn. If you dont smoke, well you can learn that too.

Came here on Saturday night and was surprised they had hookahs and a dj. By far the best hookahs I ever had. Shoutout to Avery & Tish with LIT AF Hookahs. The vibes are amazing. I will be back next weekend to smoke hookahs with my friends.

This place is horrible , we have booked a birthday party and everything was conformed and we arrived at the party time and there told they had no booking and did not help us even looking at our situation and s as all our guests arrived there did not care or helped us ! This place was full of bar and smoking inside and I don t know how there even accepted for booking a kids birthday party .its not at all family friendly place to visit! If you re looking for a family friendly establishment, this is not it. We didn t know it was still legal to smoke indoors. The lanes are nice and the fellow working was pleasant, but the whole facility reeks of cigarettes and you will leave smelling like smoke. They should advertise on the door and on their website/google that smoking is permitted. Had we known, we wouldn t have spent the time driving here. Some of the reviews say smoking is only allowed at the bar, but people were smoking in the lanes. I m sure this fits some people s lifestyle, but not ours.

One of the coolest bowling alleys and in general venues to hang out, listen to music, drink and socialize in all of Texas. Ive been here multiple times, and Ive never had a complaint. Always good people, good energy, and good times. They have fair prices for alcohol, and the games arent expensive either. 9/2/2023 First time here, came all the way from Garland and was met by Chris at the front desk. Dude was A fricking 1 with the service. I asked if the lanes were oiled and he honestly said no I asked if we could have it oiled up prior to bowling and he said for $10! I said hell yeah and got that service! Most places usually aren t as honest and will say yeah they re oiled and won t even offer oiling the lanes as a service. Our initial two lanes kept having problems and Chris kept going back and forth trying to fix the problems and in the end the lanes were faulty but helped us further and moved us to brand new lanes , those had some few issues and he helped again. After that, we were all good to go! Def will make that trip again to visit y all! I also dig the smoking area in the bar Thanks a lot Again Chris!

I really like this place. As an avid bowler for many years, I can say this is my favorite place to bowl. I go several times a week to meet up with friends and family because of the great atmosphere. My daughters love it so much as well. They say that they have the best pizza around. It s nice to have such a great family friendly place to bring the entire family that won t break the bank. As an added bonus. The last time I was in, the bartender Courtney even took some time to give my oldest daughter a quick bowling lesson. Can t see why anyone would go anywhere else.

Tbh to all the diverse people who loves everyone and love a diverse group people please go down the road to Pinstack. This won t be the only comment not so good review. I love and hope this reaches the right people. We didn t feel comfortable at the bowling alley and I never in my life felt uncomfortable at a bowling place. My friends and I love coming here. There is no discrimination and the staff is always cracking jokes and making you feel at home. I wouldnt say its a place for young children when the sun goes down but it is definitely alot of fun. Our lane went out for a few minutes and we received a card for 1 free hour of bowling. We love having our adult nights out here and come every chance we get!

Old school bowling house! Look, you could go to one of those upscale premium bowling houses, but the prices there are out of control, and in the end, bowling should be about bowling, not about lane-side waiter service, laser tag, etc... When I was a kid, bowling alleys were simple. There was a pro-shop, snack bar, bowling lanes, and a few arcade games if you were lucky. So, I was feeling a bit nostalgic when I visited Lakes Lanes this past Sunday. And it did not disappoint! Someone who recommended it said it was trashy but gets the job done. I dont think the place was trashy at all. Its a no-frills bowling center that when compared to the premium experiences at Pinstack, Bowlero, etc...might seem run down. But that is not the case. It has 16 fairly nice lanes that are well maintained, and everything was in working order. I will say that the smoking in the lounge is an interesting touch, but it didnt bother me. If anything, it brought back so many memories of when I was a kid and going bowling with my grandfather. There is a prevailing smell of grease from the vat fryers in the snack bar, but you get nose blind to it pretty quickly as you settle in for some games of bowling. The front desk staff seemed friendly enough, if disinterested. There wasnt much for him to do though other than hand over bowling shoes and fire up the automated scorer for our lane. Not super friendly, nor grouchy. Just there, and to be honest, thats my vibe too, so Im not pointing this out as a fault, just something to expect. You can also reserve your lanes and shoes and pay for your block of time right on the website which made this super convenient. We showed up, got our shoes, and were bowling within minutes of stepping inside. In summation, Lakes Lanes is a good old fashioned bowling alley. Despite being bare bones, it was clean, the bathroom was spotless, and the bowling lanes are well maintained. Some reviewers state they felt unsafe or unwelcomed, and that was not my experience. Everyone was minding their own business and having fun. The owners seem to have a very specific vision of what makes a classic bowing alley, and it seems to measure up to my vision as well. Lakes Lanes is for those nostalgic for the good old days of affordable bowling at no-frills houses. I will definitely be going back!

I was a little spooked reading the reviews, but this place is neither dirty nor particularly smelly as many have said. It s a smaller, older bowling alley than most I ve been to. The food is just okay, the drinks are good. Smoking is allowed at the bar, but they must have improved their ventilation system because you really can t tell while bowling unless you walk into the bar anymore. Overall, it was a great time and I love that it cost ~$40 for 2 hours on a lane instead of $175 what it cost at another bowling alley we considered. Good hangout place.

if i could give this place less than one star i would. When we pulled up the front entrance it was marked with no signage and four LARGE dumpsters which fortunately smelled better than what we were met with as we opened the front door. we walked in to celebrate a friends birthday and were immediately greeted with the nauseating smell of feet and cigarettes. It smelled as if they had never once cleaned she shoes they rent out since they have been in business. we immediately had to walk outside to escape the putrid smell to wait for the rest of our party to arrive and find somewhere else to go. this place needs serious work!!!!!!!

Old school bowling alley without all the other distractions. Lanes are well-maintained and the prices are great! Only complaint would be the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke coming from the bar area but filling the whole place As a former smoker, I never realized how much it permeates everything, and this place was a stark reminder!

Man, I don t even leave reviews. This place is definitely full of the same people that go there every single day & let s say if you have darker skin stay out of this establishment. This lady left all of her items in our lane after we were told to go bowl. So we move her items, and she comes up stepping on our belongings saying we kicked her stuff. Which we barely even moved it. She was drunk as can be and was trying to fight my friends as well. Told us we don t know where we are at and should probably back down lol cult. Never again. Oh forgot to mention she kept screaming that she works here as well but wouldn t say her name.

Edit in response* WHAT IS CONFUSING ABOUT AN HONEST REVIEW? I DESCRIBED OUR EXPERIENCE. AFTER WRITING MY REVIEW I LOOKED AT OTHER REVIEWS AND ITS QUITE CONSISTENT WITH WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID. Rough spot. Non-bowling chain smokers were at the bar all night. We were unaware you can still smoke indoors at public places. Terrible smell left on our clothes and I imagine we got to inhale some good second hand smoke. Nobody in our large group was a smoker and I didnt see one person bowling smoking a cigarette. Selection of balls consisted of kids 6 and 8 lbs balls. We were allowed to bowl without bowling shoes but we still had to pay for them. The draft beer had a foul taste. The bowling lanes were good and the scoring system worked fine. We didnt have any ball jams or mechanical issues on our lanes. The staff took care of us quickly and got us on a lane right away.

Just to let EVERYONE know this place was opened in 2008. My husband Jeff and his parents Lou and Dee Marten started from a totally gutted building and worked their butts off to get this establishment for The Colony residents. Yes smoking has always been a problem. My husband Jeff didnt smoke but he very much enjoyed the people who came there and he took care of problems that came up. Actually if all customers treated the bowling center as their own place it wouldnt have looked so Trashed as it sometimes did. Unfortunately Jeff passed away shortly after he completed the bowling center and we sold it to some very responsible people that have been trying their best to keep it up and running. Decent place to bowl, a little outdated. But the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke is enough for me to never return. My clothes REAK! People were smoking at the bar area the entire 2 hours my group was there. The jukebox is $1 per song and it died halfway through the night, when I asked for a refund I was told no. The guy working stated it happened often and shrugged it off.

Pretty good. Prices are reasonable but there are a lot of leagues on Friday and Saturday so make sure you get here early or else you wont get in.

Lanes themselves are fine. Guy behind the desk with an iron eagle on his forearm wasnt very welcoming. The pretzels with beer cheese was bagged pretzels and mustard. Didnt know you could smoke indoors either but, with no warning, lots of people smoking inside

Decided to go bowling to get out and have some fun. Walked into the alley, filled with smoke. I didnt even make it to the front desk. Trash was scattered about with the kitchen door open. To put the cherry on top, no one in there had on a mask and it was super packed. This was before the mandate was lifted. Truly scary.

Very old school bowling alley the type I grew up in. I wish there were more lanes like this that around. I could every waking moment here if I could. Please note they run a reverse block pattern here so be prepared for that
