Pretty decent barbecue. A little over-priced for my personal taste. The atmosphere is pretty good but they could definitely fool you with the dim lighting that hides the dirty floors. Overall not too bad for a once in a blue moon meal with family.

I dont know what happened. This place used to have the best pork ribs, period. But I took my cousin there last night (Tuesday evening at 5:30) and they were super dry and not good at all. The brisket was also very dry. Only the sausage was as good as normal. Very disappointed, as I was excited to show him what good Texas barbecue can be, and Hard Eight did not deliver this time.

I know BBQ is known to be expensive but I feel this restaurants BBQ is expensive for the quality of meat they provide. After eating here and paying as much as I did I would rather go to a more reputable BBQ restaurant in the DFW area. Im not sure how this restaurant has so many 5-star reviews to be quite honest. But if youve been to some of the top BBQ restaurants in the area and you come here, youll understand.

A very cool experience for folk visiting and looking for a funnies experience. You enter through the smoke pits and choose your meat right out of a smoker. Seating is low tops with benches and high tops with stools. Avoid the high tops. They re awkward to sit in and I m 6 1 . All you can eat beans, but be aware they re cowboy beans. I had a guest looking for baked beans. The bar is okay.

Hard Eight Pit BBQ provides outstanding BBQ and smoked meats. I must have for any bbq enthusiast. Come hungry. Great atmosphere and friendly people. We visited this location to fuel up before a day of shopping near by. The two of us split a few slices of brisket, a few ribs, sausage and a couple sides. Out the door was around $60 and we were not hungry for hours.

Came here very often, but we won t anymore. Got beef ribs and the past 2 times have been so salty that we couldn t eat them. This time I had to call and say something, because I just wasted $60 on a dinner we can t eat. The mac & cheese was visibly bad and the ribs salty again. The manager Adriana kept me on the phone for 12 minutes (trying to figure out what to do in this situation) only to tell me that she s happy we let her know about our experience, that they will strive to do better next time and that she hopes to see us again soon. No discount offered, no apologies. I even sent an email with these same pictures, so they can take a look and see that we are not just trying to get a free meal. And let s be honest, it s not a $3 mcdonalds burger, it s always between $50-$100 that we re spending every visit. I guess we ll just take our business to Hutchins from now on. As a restaurant owner myself, this was very poorly handled and it s upsetting. Will not return.

It sure was an experience! Many people in line were taking pictures and gawking at the the food being cooked like tourist might at the sight of rare objects in a museum. The good thing is there s not a very, long wait as you basically serve yourself somewhat cafeteria style. You can see the meats as they are cooked and pick up most sides yourself. So, a long line moves quickly. Then you seat yourself. Good thing we noticed the outdoor covered deck which wasn t too crowded; some of our group claimed a long, wooden table with benches on both sides; and there was still plenty of tables and benches left. This is around 7:30 on a Saturday evening. Food was fresh and rated pretty good by all in our large party. The onion rings were delicious as was the brisket and chicken which I personally enjoyed. The view from the porch with big, wide open windows was amazing. See, the red trees outside the venue? I called the lone tree, a plain-old-red tree in Plano; later, I realized Hard Eight Pit is in Colony, TX not Plano.

Very average! Lots of fat on the meat. Bacon wrapped shrimp had little flavor. Peach cobbler was more dough than peach. It was hot inside, it would have been cooler outside and thats saying a lot in this heat. There are so many BBQ places, going back there doesnt make sense.

The food was good! The guys on the outside were nice as well as the ladies when you first walk in that ask you which sides you prefer. Where my issue lied was with the lady at the register who didn t seem friendly or welcoming and had no business being at the register working customer service. Not only did she not thank us but she acted as if she didn t know where anything was when we asked. Next, the two ladies that cleaned the tables were watching us as if we were stealing. After spending over $100 at this establishment, we felt like we were being discriminated against and our business not appreciated! One of the ladies proceeded to communicate with workers at the back after staring at us, and soon after, a guy whom I m assuming may have been a manager on duty decides to come over and circled around us then to the next table which was outside where there were two more black people sat but didn t seem to even give notice to the white people that were on the other side of the restaurant. I am disgusted by how we were singled out as this was not the first time something of this nature had happened at this location. We need to do better as a society, people!

Used to be a regular stop for a family dinner, but due to rising prices, it is the second time weve eaten here this year. They were out of the 8oz stalks so I had to get the 16oz. 1 lb of brisket, 1/4lb sausage, 2 fries, mac&cheese, and 3 drinks for the kids was over $100. Ordered the steak medium, and it was overcooked. The manager explained b/c the heat the playe it continues to cook while bringing to the table and then sitting prior to eating. Got it, so why heat the plates if it continues to cook and the customer doesnt get what they ordered? So the second d stark is so rare one a small portion can be eaten. What a disappointment, but it did make for a good lunch the next day.

Hard Eight bbq was quite good. You walk through the pit area and then stop at a final smoker where a nice young man asks you what you would like. You can select meat by the piece or pound. You get a ticket with your meat, then go inside to get your sides. The meat was very good. We got turkey, brisket, sausage and ribs. Sides were coleslaw, Mac and cheese, beans, corn, onions and pickles. Topped it off with sweet tea. Hard Eight barbecue sauce is delicious, just enough spice! The ribs were tasty, easy off bone, but did not fall apart. They leave membrane on knuckles on their ribs. The turkey was flavorful, not wet and not to dry... just right. The brisket was best mixed with the bbq sauce. Sausage good but slightly dried out. Mac and cheese delish! Same for slaw. Beans had a good flavor as well. The tables and stools are permanently affixed, so no moving. All in all a good experience. My wife said she would come back. Would will definitely try the sirloin and prime rib! Parking: Plenty of parking in front.

The food is the star here! Fresh barbecue is what they do and they do it well. The atmosphere is very no frills picknicky but it doesn t matter. You have to try the brisket it was tender, juicy, and did not need any bbq sauce at all. The spicy sausage was also amazing and the ribs were delicious. I did get the end of the ribs so they were a bit tougher than some of the ones my companions got but not so bad that I couldn t enjoy them. I also got the baked sweet potato and it was very good. If you order the okra, it s enough for three to four people. I wasn t a fan of their beans as I m more akin to the baked bean style instead of the Texas beans. Definitely recommend this place when you are in the area.

We wondered if it was their first visit and/or from out of town? All the meats and sides were great. They offer free beans by the beverages. Only down side is that it is very hot while ordering near the fire pits and the cobblers are more bread than fruit! Would gave loved a side of ice cream but not offered. Table sharing is standard.

Also way over priced for what you get. One more thing, the Mexicans that cut the meat act like they dont speaka de eng-leash. If you know spanish, you will here them insulting the gringos and making crude remarks.

Good BBQ and good people! Like any BBQ place, it going smell like smoke, going to be loud, and your going to get messy! Enjoy it all as you dig into some of the most tender ribs in Dallas! Oh almost forgot, dont think you missed the Pinto Beans, they all you can eat.

Solid bbq at H8! My family and I sat by the bar inside and the whole experience was special - Marcela went above and beyond! Remember that the exits are a bit tricky, especially after a couple of Dallas Blondes. Parking: Plentiful and easy Kid-friendliness: All kids had fun

Had to lower the Stars since they raised their prices per pound for a third or fourth time in a year.. was $19 per pound, then $22-walked in the other day to see they are a whopping $24 per pound.. major Bummer!! Food is great-but the spicy sausage is not worth $24 per pound! Food

We had the half chicken and it tasted really good, but it was really dry. The mac and cheese and potato salad was really good, but nothing special. As much as I like this joint, I dont care about the 20 minute line next to the smokers at 120F. I would gladly order from the menu. Note I gave it 1 star for service as there is no service. Its like a counter line, self serve place. Nothing wrong with that except as noted above.

Im not a barbecue person, but this restaurant is absolutely delicious! You come in and order your proteins straight of the grill. Then as you go inside they offer bread for free. You can buy for an extra charge coleslaw, potato salad, corn, fruit, vegetables, and even dessert like blue berry and peach cobbler. At the end of the line you can either get soft drinks, bottled water, or you can get an alcoholic beverage at the bar in the back! Im addition they have free beans for those who dine in! A+++

Hard Eight is a BBQ Dallas must!! You enter the smoke house through the smoke pit. You can order right from the pit a ribeye steaks cash iron seared. From there there is a shed-like structure where you order your BBQ by the half or full pound. They fill your tray and then you enter the restaurant into the salad and dessert bar. Mac-n-cheese, potato salad, pickles, fries, onion rings, bread by the slice, cobblers, pies, and your drinks. Best BBQ dining experience in Dallas. Thanks for the Texas BBQ Ive been twice so far and will come every time Im in Dallas.

Food quality has definitely dropped! Not what it used to be! Ribs had a sour taste to them, shrimp was burned to a coal, brisket was dry. Used to love it here, now looking for next favorite bbq spot.

I had the beef brisket, corn, Mac and cheese, fruit salad, and peach cobbler. My beef brisket was cold and dry, I wasn t too happy. The lady noticed I didn t eat much of my food so she came and weighed it and gave me a more moist cut but I got it to go and haven t eaten it yet. That was nice of her. The peach cobbler was too sweet and felt like canned peaches versus a cobbler. The corn on the cob was boiled and lacked flavor. Mac and cheese was INCREDIBLE, and I am not easily impressed with Mac and cheese, the portion was small, but perfect for me since im watching my caloric intake, but on a good day I wish they had a bigger one available too.

This was our first visit and it was so good!! I cant get good BBQ in Oregon, so gotta get my fill in Texas. The smoker was huge, and there were so many choices of meat, and you could order as much as you want. They also had a huge selection of sides, including dessert. The jalapeño corn was delicious. We ate too much to try dessert but it all looked good. Sweet tea was amazing!
