I went here for the first time today...love this place! Some stand-outs...the produce department. Better produce than most stores and a surprisingly good selection. Some produce looked local. They had a discount basket of stuff that had some surface deterioration, but was perfectly edible for about 70% off. Prices were good. Much better than average Mexican produce as well. They had fresh nopal and tunas. The meat dept: Some great deals here. Pork for less than $2/pound. Chicken breast $2/pound. They have pork jowl and salt pork too. I did notice a couple of not great looking steaks, but most looked nice. Dairy seemed very expensive. Cheese prices were crazy. Store closes at 11PM (at least on Friday). Atmosphere was great, and theres a Watermill in the parking lot.

Need to be careful when shopping this store especially in the meat department today I noticed they had eye of round roast on sale for $4.99 a pound so I picked up one to buy the package was marked at $5.99 a pound. I took it back to the butcher and showed him the price difference he took the meat back and change the price to $4.99 a pound. As I was waiting for it to be rewrapped a lady was looking at the bacon the sign said Wright bacon 40 oz package for $4.50 and she held up the package to me and asked if this was the correct one? After looking at it I said yes thats correct and thats a good buy just about then the butcher brought the eye around of Round roast back to me with the correct price she also asked him if this was the right package on sale for $4.50 he said yes thats correct. So I decided to go ahead and pick me up a package of bacon also at that price when I got to the checkout stand it rang up $5.99 I told the cashier they had a sign saying it was on sale for $4.50 the manager came up and said no its been ringing up $5.99 all day. I explained to her they had a sign saying it was $4.50 also told her that the butcher told the other lady that was the correct price. So I walk back to the meat counter with her to show her the sales tag and low and behold the tag had been changed to $5.99 a pound. So the butcher came out and explained that he didnt see the sign and he didnt know anything about it which was a bald-faced lie. The manager thats who I guess that lady was asked me if I still wanted to buy the bacon and I said no and matter fact you can keep all the groceries I just bought because I dont do business with people whoare liars. Needless to say they lost my business why would a senior citizen try to screw them over for such a little amount of money I was mad and I dont want to deal with any business thats going to lie to your face.

I love the old feel of this store. It takes me back everytime I go in it. Update: its now foodarama and bought porkchops from them to make for the next day when I went to open them, the smell hit me. They had all their pork chops marked a dollar a lb. Now I know why, it wasnt a sale, someone didnt store them right and foodarama figured theyd unload them on the consumer at any cost so as not to lose money. To say Im disappointed is an understatement. I never had this problem when it was food king.

The renovation of the store is good, it looks clean and tidy, the cashiers are horrible, they always have an angry face, they dont say hello or say thank you, Ive had more than 3 times with super rude young cashiers!! I stopped going for a long time because of the high costs, I started going again with the renewal but I will stop going because of the bad service of the cashiers!!!

MUST STOP FOR SELECT MEAT CUTS! To be honest from the outside the place looks - well like it looks... But, they truly do have weekly specials on select meat cuts that are awesome. Also, youll find good deals on pantry items listed in circular... As a budget shopper, they remain a must-stop biweekly. The staff is polite as well- always a plus.

This store has really made great changes. Its clean, well stocked with fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and hard to find pantry items. Lets talk about the cooked food......YOU MUST TRY IT!!! I had the Swedish meatball plate that came with a baked potato and sweet peas. They also had one with broccoli and cheese. The perfect amount of gravy on potato and meatballs. It was plenty of food, and the price was cheaper than a restaurant!!!!! They have a variety of cooked food, so try it all!!!! This is going to be my go to, if I need to pick up lunch or supper on the run.

These people rush at early morning deli to produce low cost breakfasts for school kids that would otherwise not be able to get properly fed. They should be recognized and saluted for their community role! The cleanest, best produce in town and always a great place to shop.

I love going to foodking. Seems almost like family Every one is very friendly and is always helping if needed. I love the fresh meat and the associate Sam is very knowledgeable of meat cuts and always helps if I need more meat cut or if I have questions. I like chorizo usually purchase the Garcia he told me about another chorizo fresh made OMG ITS THE BEST. Oh cant forget the Managers they are ALL VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL . GOOD LEADERS . Ive been buying from the Texas City location for years. However I need to let people know how wonderful their inhouse bread is. Recently I was unable to get good hoagie and french bread from H.E B. So I went to my old stand by and there it was. NOT only fresh but better than anything I had bought before. Please pass this art down to the next baker. We are so happy. Thank you guys

I buy meats there, A little further to drive, but wouldnt go anywhere else. The stores always clean, the associates are very nice. The other thing that really needs mentioning is the front end. The checkers, sackers are very professional, respectful, and helpful. I would have given the store 5 stars but it seems management needs to stand back, watch what theyve taught, dont lose sight of being a mentor, and get back to what you taught your employees. There isnt one time that a manager acknowledged me or said hello. Not one time.

Love shopping here. Friendly staff, decent prices, and they carry items Kroger and HEB doesnt. We were craving fresh turkey wings and fresh turkey necks...did Kroger or HEB have them..NOPE..but Food King did!! They are cooking and my kitchen smells amazing.
