I would put 0 stars if I could. The only compasionate people were the security and Patient care Techs. If your loved one is ever going tthrough a mental crisis and they tell you they are bringing them to this ER, refuse!!!! Do not let your family member go here!. They treat their mental health patients at this facility like a prisoner!. They do not consult with the patients, they do not show any compasion or care, they do not listen when you beg for help, they do not allow you to even contact your own personal Physician for assistance. They role their eyes when you try and tell them anything like your burdening them. None the less it took over 3 hours each time we requested assistance for anything. They claimed they speak to you and do assessments, when all they do is walk by ask if your ok, ask if you take any medications then walk away while your mid sentence. They do not listen to mental health patients needs. Because we have insurance it felt more like they just wanted the pay from that. Delay in a mental ill patients first 24 hours of care is damaging! That is the critical period and should be handled the same as someone having a heart attack!

During my recent stay at HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland (Texas City) ], I experienced significant issues with the nursing care on Floor 4. The main concerns were: Unresponsive Nurses: The response time to call buttons was unacceptable. I often had to wait between 30 minutes to an hour for assistance, even when the call button was pressed multiple times. Lack of Communication: There was a noticeable lack of communication between nurses, especially during shift changes. This resulted in delays in receiving prescriptions and necessary supplies, as important information was not passed along effectively. Delayed Assistance: When nurses did respond, they were slow to address requests and needs, which further compounded the delays in care. Due to these issues, I found the level of care to be far below acceptable standards. The lack of responsiveness and poor communication significantly impacted the quality of care received. While this review reflects my personal experience, I hope it serves as constructive feedback for the hospital to address these concerns. In future emergencies, I would be hesitant to return to this facility based on this experience.

I originally went there for a severe back pain. They gave me 3 days of pain meds after x ray and a referal. I waited 5 days and went to the referal only to find they didnt take my insurance. I then tried to get my pcp to see him but not till next month. So i contacted my insurance company they gave me a place but that specialist needed a referal. So im stuck. So i go back to mainland waited 3 hours only to be told u can go. No referal no meds for my pain. Nothing. Worst parient care ever. I had better treatment with the VA. Your place sucks. Nurses just gosip and the admitting clerk is an uncaring, useless administrator. Just walk out on my admission and told me to wait . I waited 2 hours only to find out that your hospital was not gonna help. So never again will i go or recomend your dump to any one. I will stick with the VA. They are much more professional than the staff of uncaring air heads you have there. Good riddance. Also telling Cigna about the lousy service.

My significant other was being booted from her bed prematurely so they could have more open beds a day prior to Hurricane Beryl. One of the staff members accidentally revealed that information. She just got out of surgery and has been unable to pee or poop on her own. Her body is especially sensitive to the pain medication and anesthetic used during surgery. It causes her digestive system to shut down for a number of days. The doctors here didn t want to hear it and are now putting us in a situation forcing us out of the hospital where we can t potentially return to the hospital if the Hurricane hits bad tomorrow and shuts everything down. The attitudes of people in the leadership towards her plight seemed extremely apathetic save for a couple of nurses who even felt the doctors were making a foolish call. Not to mention the response times to relieving her pain during the stay were extremely delayed by as much as several hours with little to no communication in between . Bottom line .. they re discharging her from the hospital when she hasn t had a bowel movement in days. If she needs to come back the Hurricane will likely make that not possible and then what? They are putting us in a very dangerous situation .

Wonderful care from all the doctors and nurses in the surgery department; however, the registration department could use some work. It was my first time there, and it was pouring rain outside! There was no one there to open the doors, and I was getting sleepy! Once inside, there was no one to direct you where to go! When I finally found out where to check-in, the lady was so rude! She had no compassion for the fact that I was dripping wet and wanted to berate me with questions about insurance. Umm, can you get me a towel so I can dry myself off first?????? There is just no empathy whatsoever.

Currently sitting in the waiting room in the ER. Been here so far almost 3 hours (with my child) they took my blood pressure, which is dangerously low, and sent me back to the waiting room. Now there is quite a few people here but only the ones with obvious money are being seen. Also, the nurse kept asking me if someone could pick up my child. If I had someone to get her she wouldnt be here. I guess because I am poor (a home owner with no debt) I should just go home and die on my couch in front of my child. If I die because of the lack of care this is an official declaration for my family to sue and overall destroy this hospital.

I have been here 3 times in the month of February. The 1st time I left after 4 hours , the 2nd time wait was going to be about 8 hours so I didnt bother to stay so my review Im posting is solely on my recent visit Feb 28th. The best if the best of medical professionals were on site!! My visit was around 3 hours,I was screened, had X-rays a cat scan and my arm was braced up for a fall that happened at my apartments. I was able to get the video footage from my neighbors doorbell camera and want to stop back in to show everyone who helped me just to laugh with me, its pretty funny now that Im not longer crying. But the biggest shout out is for the PA, who just started her shift! Thank you so much for the phenomenal treatment and all the education about a surgery I was hesitant on having done when it was recommended to me last year. Every person there who was in contact with me showed so much compassion and care even the nurse admin who greeted me with ok , what did you punch? Haha since I was holding my hand and crying like a big baby. She has a great personality! I really didnt want to go back to this location, but because of the pain I was in, nothing mattered. Im so glad I chose to return , I have nothing negative to say about this facility and only wonderful things will be spoken word of mouth. Thank you to all 10 staff workers who dealt with or put up with me & made me feel like I mattered during my time of pain. What an incredible group of heros !!!!!

We felt like we had entered the Twilight Zone while dealing with Mainland hospital. My 91 mother-in-law, who has dementia, and deaf, fell at her assisted living and was transported to the ER at Mainland. When we got to the ER, the receptionist was clueless to my MIL s whereabouts, and only interested in playing on her cell phone. After finally figuring that they had moved her to the hospital, we went there. Not once did the hospital call us to let us know where she was at. The nurse assigned to her (Samantha), had the worst bedside manners we have ever encountered, and very condescending to both my MIL and us. She lied about calling us to give updates, because neither I or my husband had phone calls from the hospital on our phones. I caught her in the acting yelling at my MIL, when I walked in her room and MIL was needing to use the bathroom. I immediately asked for a replacement nurse. I called the Mainland s patient advocate number that was listed on the Patient s Rights brochure, not once but twice, but just got a voicemail, and left messages to call me back. They never called back. So Mainland, if you respond to this post to apologize like you did for the rest of your bad reviews, I know it s not sincere.

Bad attention. On December 4th, I visited the emergency area. I had 5 days with fever, chills, body aches, headache, cough, shortness of breath. I have had asthma since I was a child and I am also 8 weeks pregnant. I waited 4 hours in the waiting area and the only person who assisted me was the front desk, she took my information and gave me the isopo so that I could take the covid and flu test on my own. 4 hours later she came out with papers and told me that I had the flu and that I should go home because they couldnt do anything for me. At no time was I seen by nursing staff, much less by a doctor. What kind of health professionals do they have in that Emergency and it is not the first time that I have visited that emergency and the attention has always been terrible. I did not receive medical attention BUT I do have a medical bill to pay them. It is really outrageous that health for you is a business and there is no professional vocation.

Let me start off by saying I understand it s a hospital not a hotel but on this day they were very slow and the way my mom was treated was unacceptable. She was there from 7am-5pm saw her nurse 1 time. She begged for water for over 2hours until she called me crying because she asked to be discharged over an hour ago because they were treating her so bad she wished to go to another hospital. I had to travel to her to see what was going on. I walked in er lobby was empty nurse in the front didn t even look u at me for a while older blonde lady once I walked in the back I was yelled at by charge nurse Brittney about Covid and coming back there DO YOU THINK I WANT TO ACTUALLY HAVE TO COME UP HERE MAAM. Every last nurse was sitting at that station on their phone or gossiping except one nurse an older blonde lady who was my moms nurse but that lady was overwhelmed with so many rooms/patients she didn t even know my mom had been asking for water for 2 hours let alone asked to be discharged over an hour ago she apologized so many times NO ONE AT THE STATION TOLD HER ANYTHING. The WORST thing though was once discharged we didn t notice until we went to get prescriptions they gave us another man s discharge papers smh so now I know all this man s business address what he had ummm. HIPPA VIOLATION FOR SURE. Now who has my moms information smh HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

To give more stars would be a disservice to any reading this review. I sould also menion that the Housekeeping staff is excellent. Note no Doctor showed up for rounds. The only problem was the cafeteria services! there food services are very limited to the patient families and the grilled area are closed for the weekends. If you lucky enough to live near the hospital you have to leave the hospital to go home to eat something or purchase something to eat for yourself or your family members who decide not to leave their sick family members in the hospital this is very frustrating and challenging to the patients families. The hospital board of directors needs to make a serious improvement on the cafeteria situations other hospitals have better food options available for the families of these patients thank you

My husband and I have worked in the medical field over ten years(in Houston Medical Center)so please understand this post comes with medical knowledge of what proper care looks like. My mother was transferred to this hospital on 05/24 for a GI Bleed that caused a replica of other complications that caused her to be unstable. She arrived to the Mainland ER and she had to wait in the hallway after being notified hours prior that she was on the way. Once admitted, wound care was ordered and never showed. Physical Therapy was ordered never showed. My mother has literally been in this hospital for 3 days with no updates. My husband and I had to come on separate occasions and ask why hadn t anyone helped her to the restroom after being called several times. This is very upsetting because my mother is elderly. If anyone else experiences this with any hospital make sure to get in writing that the hospital lacked care and didn t do their job and that would be the reason you are removing your family from the facility. We are in the process of doing that now. This has been the worst experience. This hospital lacks accountability and empathy for their patients.

If I could give zero stars I would. Most of the staff was not attentive to my dads needs . When he needed assistance due to bed restriction no one would help and would often make him feel he was bothering them asking for help . I m not sure why people choose the medical field when they have no empathy or compassion for people.

I ve been going to this hospital for years the name has changed and the care has to, it has gotten really good with this new take over, the diagnoses are correct now you don t have to back door to UTMB anymore, I remember when the community called it killer county. But this recent visit, I have NO complaints about medical treatment the Doctor ( I feel) did his job. How ever the staff including Doctor ( ER not CT people) obviously wasn t interested in a sense of kindness or hospitality whatsoever, and I sat and layed out on a hospital bed in the hall discussing my private medical information for all to hear, I was told no beds, but I saw 2 empty rooms ( idk js) I was in pain so I didn t want a fuss. But it was unpleasant an embarrassing to me. And I definitely understood the ER Doctor wasn t feeling hospitable in the least As he walked off as we were still talking about my medical issues . Guess that was a sign of moving on .

Beverly Lewis is a ray of sunshine she saved my grandfathers life by doing emergency surgery with a twisted intestine back in June 2016 and let me tell you what she has been doing emergency surgeries for over 30 years. If it wasn t for her saving his life my family and I would be devastated. My grandmother had surgery at mainland back last October the dr couldn t remember his name was really good too from the staff the drs and nurses if you see dr Lewis give her a high five and a pat on the back for saving senior citizens lives

The doctors didnt list my maintenance meds or gave them to me. Even though I told three separate times what they wrte, dosage act. No diagnosis or cause was given. I was told 3 different things were wrong. I had pancreatitis, a kidney stone and an intestinal infection. I was even given Cipro and flagyl. then I was told that all 3 scans were wrong and there was no problems. I was given zero after care instructions and they had me listed as an African American male, I am a cacausion woman. Nurses even confirmed that a kidney stone appeared on the scan but the doctor said it wasnt there....I kept getting accused of being a drinker even though I am not. I felt overlooked and like a pain in the doctors butt. Overall I didnt get any answers or solutions. I left in the same condition as check in. The nurses were great and even told me that they personally get second opinions. Nothing was ever explained as to what the treatment was or why. When I left help was not offered in any way.

This review is based on an ER visit with provider Travis Litz. I ve had nothing but positive things to say about the mainland HCA but today was extremely different because of this provider. After being seen at UTMB urgent care with a low grade fever, rib pain, and elevated blood pressure the provider suggested I go to an Emergency room. I came to the mainland where I was assigned provider Litz. Upon first impression he was irritated and short patient. He did not provide clarity and I left even more confused. About 2 years ago I was hospitalized here with pancreatitis and today presented with pain that was similar to that experience. He only ordered chest X-rays! After 4 hours of waiting I was discharged with no explanation of what was going on. When I requested bloodwork he refused and told me to follow up with my primary. I ve never been refused to take blood as a 2nd opinion at an emergency room. He truly acted as though he didn t care and discharged me despite my concerns. He was as arrogant as arrogant comes.

My husband was transferred from the clear lake HCA to Mainland HCA for therapy after a massive stroke and this was the worse experience of my life. Some of the nurses were nice and all the physical therapists were professional and very helpful. However, the room was dirty, there was no private shower, the meals were inedible, and I often had to shower my husband myself because 3 days passed had since his last shower. Someone gave my husband a scolding hot cup of coffee that he was unable to hold and he spilled on his leg. I was only aware of the injury while I was showering him. The injury was extensive and took months to heal. The final insult was receieving a bill that amounted to $3,000 a night for his lodging. All of this was very disturbing but the most traumatic experience was dealing with the caseworker. The unsympathetic and rude way she dealt with me during this very difficult time will haunt me for the rest of my life. Someone like this should never be allowed to work in healthcare. After my husbands discharge she never provided the follow up she was supposed to, but by this time I had managed to get him into another hospital system thank goodness. I would hate for anyone else to go through this experience. Avoid this place at all costs.

Those was the worst experience/ ER visit of my life. My daughter was bought in by ambulance. The wait for a room was over an hour. Doctor examined her and another patient bought in by Ambulance in the area we were waiting in. Rooms were empty but not clean. Most staff was joking around and playing on their phones. One employee an AA woman took the initiative to tell others to get the rooms clean so that my daughter and the other guy can get a room. Once in the room I couldve threw up. After sitting there about an hour I noticed old blood all over the room. Some were droplets and the rest was smeared everywhere from a poor mopping attempt. There was black mold on the ceilings. The bathroom had blood and mold everywhere including the toilet seat. The doctor had ordered the test but it took almost 2 hours to get the doctor to come back in with results. He only came when he did because my daughter started unhooking herself from the monitoring devices and wanted the IV out. She didnt even want to wait for her results. She was extremely uncomfortable, we all were. The discharge took another hour and a half just to bring a script, paperwork, and remove IV. The doctor was good but clearly he was stretched too thin. The nurses spent most of their time behind the desk on their phones. When approached some had attitudes. If I could give this experience no stars I would. Before I call an ambulance again that would force me to go to this location, I rather drive somewhere else for better experience.

To put it Bluntly...Mainland Hospital saved my life...Let me explain..When I caught Covid ( even though I was Fully vaccinated)...I was on a Breathing machine ( Oxygen) set at 14 ticks...It took about 1 and1/2 months to bring my Oxygen requirement to 2 ticks then 1. Not only did I have physical complications from Covid but I had Mental/Cognitive Complications...For the First month I have no recollection of anything or anyone...After the first month, my memory started to come back..At that point I wasnt following directions, smiling or answering common questions..3 specialist ( Occupatinal, Physical and Speech helped me to regain my senses if you will..In fact, nurses and other staff/Doctors help me...I was on the verge of being sent to a Nursing home but through my Faith in God and my belief in the medical staff, no one gave up on me...Little did anyone know...the Steroids used to clear my Lungs...attacked my Knee and killed the bone..The therapist pushed me even though I was always in Intense Pain...Of course, the 5 Xrays were all negative...After 2 and 1/2 months I was released...The one Occupatinal Therapist, Karen, was my guardian Angel ...She kept me going when I had given up on myself...When I left the Hospital...My Covid recovery was just beginning..After an MRI, it was determined that I had large areas of dead bone in my Patella ( Knee and Tibula)... My only Fix was a Full Knee Replacement..The Surgery was major and my Recovery is ongoing. In Summary, I left the Hospital around 170 lbs and when I returned to the Hospital for a visit...I now weigh 225 lbs..It took a gallant effort from the Staff but again Karen kept me going...I can never thank you enough...My Gardian Angel ..This Hospital Staff is for real, Intelligent and Trustworthy.

Communication was non-existent and floor nurse refused to be assigned to patient because having to come this far back (end of the hall) was cause for making her trip out, so nurse insisted someone else could take patient, shed take more rooms. No communication when taken to room, or during stay, until Admin was called. Review of home meds was not done for more than 14 hours AFTER admission...despite being asked and told several times it had not been done. However, if I hadnt known the doctors treatment plan, I wouldnt have received the steroids and antibiotic shots because the triage team who was pushing me out the door missed the order for meds.
