Terrible bbq my ribs and brisket came out cold. The bbq sauce lacks flavor and so did the potato salad. Tasted like school food the only good food was French fries and jalapeño stuffed with brisket. Would not recommend nor go back.

I really like BBQ, but I love hamburgers. I had to try the cowboy burger and was not disappointed! Wife had the chopped beef BBQ and I had some or hers. Wow, very good! Food fresh, hot and delicious. Watching the video playing on a monitor over the counter, I have to try the burnt ends. Stay tuned because I am going back.

Ordered take out for dinner. The ribs were almost burnt and they were dry. We get sauce on the side so we can savor the flavor of the meat. The sausage we got in to go container were mostly end pieces. The jalapeno bread was overcooked because jalapenos were black. Dont know if this is just to go plates or if it happens with dine in. This is the 2 nd time to go plates were lacking in quality which is what you expect for $38 for 2 dinners.

My family and I stopped in late for a dinner, and the staff were amazing! The kitchen was closed, so full menu was not available, but they helped me feed my three daughters and three grandkids! The food was excellent, portions large for the price, and we needed to go boxes. Thank you!! Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and we fed 3 littles while we were there, they loved it!

the food? amazing. huge portions for the price. the staff? amazing. theyre polite, friendly, humorous, and helpful. the atmosphere? diner style, self service. a little lackluster, but it doesnt impact the experience at all. overall rating- 9/10. if youre a fan of good food and better people, this is the spot for you. Kid-friendliness: they were very tolerant and accepting of three toddlers! and the kids meals are perfect.

I am giving a 3 star due to the fact I have not tried the other meats. But I got the brisket sandwich and fries and it cost $18. The brisket was mainly fat and pretty tasteless. Hopefully next time will be better. Its a long drive to Rudys.

Giving 3 stars bc the service was quick and the sweet tea is really good. I came in last weekend because I m very pregnant craving catfish, and I noticed they had a sign out selling catfish plates. It was pretty bad, very chewy and tough texture, absolutely not fresh, and the tartar sauce was just some weird brand from the grocery store (maybe my expectations were high for fresh made sauce as well) boudin balls were over cooked and very dry. Got half lb of turkey for my husband to try, it wasn t bad but I don t know if I believe it was truly smoked all the way through. The bbq sauce was not what I expected, very very strong flavor, almost rancid but maybe it was just very strong vinegar based. Not my cup of tea but maybe someone else would like that. I shared my experience with a coworker who has lived in the area for a long time and she informed me that this place is known for not smoking their meats all the way through, and mentioned that they boil the meat (or use some other alterNative cooking method to do most the cooking) very sad to hear it but upon reading other reviews and trying the food myself, I believe her. That s unfortunate for a Texas joint since bbq is serious business down here. Hope they can fix that before it s too late.. The sides were Mac and cheese and jambalaya. Not bad. Very generic. Tbh it reminds me of hospital food. Edible but meh. Overall, won t be back- I do expect to eat fresh fish if I m paying for it so I ll find another spot to try!

Everything was perfect, unfortunately a long drive but worth it when you arrive, the chopped brisket on a poboy bun is one of my favorites the staff was nice and polite, the drinks were a landscape of flavor, and the atmosphere just reminiscent of a old 80s style dinner, overall great place highly recommend.

Man I hate doing this but for $18 for lunch I feel I need to. I got the 2 meat plate with brisket and ribs. Honestly the worst brisket Ive ever never eaten. Tried to eat it but it looked like it was boiled. It was gray and had zero flavor. The ribs were ok but they were probably smoked a few days ago and were hard. Pinto beans were tasteless. Potato salad was good! Sorry folks I hate to do this but for that money you need to up your game.

I stopped by for whole chicken. Ive bought it countless of times and never had a problem before. I am not sure what happened this time. The thighs were red through and through. I like meat well cooked no red or blood showing. I was sorely disappointed given the price I paid for one chicken and given the thigh is my favorite part of the chicken. The rest of the chicken was okay. This has never happened before. Grand Prize you need to make this right.

I hardly ever leave reviews. but this is a warranted one. First off, what Barbeque place doesnt have pulled pork? I settled on the brisket sandwich. It was terrible. I know it was smoked, but the meat tasted like it was boiled. There was absolutely no flavor. The sauce was mid at best. The guy who made my sandwich acted distracted and talked under his breath. I had to get him to repeat the two bread choices three times before I heard him. It was lunch time and there were only 3 tables. That should have tipped me off. The prices were too high for what you get. I hope they get better.

We always go to the Texas City location but we will not be going back. First the girl that answers the phone is very rude and reminds me.of the girl from The Madea Movies that works the drive thru and says thi gs like, We dont got those mushrooms anymore... but secondly the online menu is not up to date and they apparently dont have any of.the appetizers on the menu except Boudain balls and jalapeños, and it does not indicate on this menu anywhere that there is extra charge for jalapeño bread, as it states that sandwiches come with you choice of bread and then you get there and they have charged extra for the jalapeño bread. Lastly, the boudain balls are literally the worst I have ever eaten and my dog wouldnt even eat them. I spent $61 on food that I was overcharged for and that my dog wouldnt eat. Will not be going back. And also this was for inly 4 people, with no drinks or anything. This is ridiculously overpriced.

I used to work in Texas City between 2005-2010 and Grand Prize was the best BBQ I had ever had but on my last visit in Aug 2023 the quality of the food had become disappointingly bad. I ordered the combo po boy and my wife ordered the sliced brisket on the jalapeño cheese bread. So $35 dollars later for two sandwiches, two sides, and two sodas I was embarrassed because I had spoken so highly of the place to my wife and she was visibly annoyed and disappointed. The sauce was still good but not like I remember. It used to have a bit of spice, a little sweet taste, and pieces of brisket in it. Not anymore it was okay but was definitely missing the spice and brisket I remember. The sides were good but the meat was not very good. Especially the brisket. One thing I always notice when I go to a BBQ restaurant is they always makes sure you can see them cut the meat fresh. For this last visit I don t remember seeing them cut the meat. The brisket was tender but extremely bland. Also it wasn t fresh at all. By the looks of it the brisket had been cooked in the oven and stored for later consumption. I m not trying to be critical only honest because I used to love this place and it s pretty evident the quality has gone down recently and needs to be fixed. The food is too expensive to Taste bad. Ownership and management has obviously changed over the years and they are now just living on the name but if the BBQ continues to get bad reviews the name will be useless and it may start affecting the visitors at the other locations. Sincerely a concerned loyal customer.

The barbq is always great. Im here now and this older gentleman came in for some briskets he had ordered and the cashier began to tear him a new one because he was early. She berated him and kept saying, we told you 2oclock and besides its lunchtime. She was very rude and could have handled it differently. My 1st time visit didnt go so well with a lunchtime Rib Dinner Plate To Go. Ribs were days old, already drenched in BBQ sauce, too salty, dry, brittle, and tasted like they had been sitting in a freezer. Their Cole slaw tasted like wet raw cabbage until you got down to the watered down juice at the bottom. Their onion rings were very large, golden brown and tasty. Hindsight 20/20: after seeing everyone who entered this place stand waiting in line to order their lunchtime made to order special of the day, I recommend not ordering their rib dinners during lunchtime without expecting a Grand Price Ripoff. Lesson Learned: When in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Driving by I seen the cords of wood out front, said well that s legit. This place is the best BBQ I ve had in awhile. I think they make their own bread there too, it was delicious. The chopped beef sandwich was huge. One sandwich can easily feed two people with smaller appetites. The tator salad was on point and flavorful. I will be back to try more of their menu. Taken a 16 lb brisket in for them to cook for us, they said bring it in Friday, so we did upon arrival they had a sign that read no more outside orders, my girl told em you said to bring it in, apparently they took in larger orders, anyway they went ahead and cooked it @$2.50 a lb , so picked it up the meat was white looking as if made in a oven no smoke flavor no ring on the meat, and the portion was probably around 5lbs, of meat if that no fat at all, butchered pieces thrown in a cake pan, I will not let them ever cook for us again, nor will we eat there, I give it a ...1..

Really enjoyed their barbeque. The pork sandwich on cheese jalapeno bread was huge. The chopped brisket sandwich had great flavor without the sauce. Great staff, casual eatery. 2 sandwiches, two sides and drinks cost around 34 dollars .

We ordered potatoes for a small group and asked for the toppings on the side. We received what looks like half eaten left over potatoes. Definitely not a whole potato. Whats worse, it looks like someone raked through it with a fork and left bits of foil in the potato. First time I ever had more topping than potato. If we would have ordered them dressed with the toppings, , we would not have known we wre veing slighted.

It was our first time eating at this Texas City staple and we both had the stuffed potato with chopped beef brisket. Boy were these bad boys big and loaded with a huge amount of brisket! We could only finish half. Staff was friendly, the place was clean and nice and cool.
