The food was great but lost a star because the tri-tip brisket meat was dry. Everything was seasoned very well. I loved the buttered potatoes. The jalapeño sausage was my favorite! I wasnt big on the decor but it is interesting for sure.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Clem Mikeska BBQ was a mess from start to finish. It was like stopping at a roadside attraction on a road trip and finding out it s ran by crackheads trapping fent out back, looks good from the outside but there s deeper issues when you get in. Corn was undercooked, beef was tough and the sausage might have me blowing chunks tonight. The atmosphere was uninviting, and the staff acted like they couldn t care less. Save your time and money this place isn t worth a second thought.

We used to be regular customers here, but the service has consistently disappointed us. If you re thinking about ordering steak, don t bother ours have never been cooked properly. Our last visit was the breaking point. After waiting an hour for our food, one person in our group didn t even receive their meal until the rest of us had already finished. The portions were small, and the medium steak I ordered was ridiculously overcooked, far beyond well-done. We ve given this place multiple chances, but we re done. While the BBQ is decent, the made-to-order items are consistently subpar, with small portions and poor preparation. On top of that, service is slow, and even getting a simple refill seems like a challenge

The waitress never came over to check on us and the other waitresses said she would be the only one to take our to go order or boxes to take our food with us. The food was not the best at the price they charge. It will be our last visit here. This location is N. Main St, Belton.

8.13.24: Western atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food, on the other hand, was not great. For an appetizer, I got the white wings as they sounded interesting. They werent bad, but dried out some. Rolls were good. Then, I ordered a 3-meat combo with brisket, ribs, and sirloin tri-tip. The sides picked were loaded baked potatoe and mac n cheese. The ribs were meh/okish. The other meats were dried out, and I couldnt finish it. I have no clue why mac n cheese is considered a premium upgraded side because there was nothing premium about it. Now it wasnt bad but not for the extra cost for being a premium side. The baked potatoes are what you expect. For dessert, I got the skillet cookie. It was good with what was there. There was just enough cookie to barely cover the bottom of the skillet. What a disappointment. Food wise, I can not recommend this place. Nothing really stood out and meh at best. Next...

Best part of coming here was the sweet tea. The meat, we had chicken and brisket. Mediocre at best. The meat had no flavor whatsoever by itself, cool there is bbq sauce but come on. I don t want to have to drench the food in sauce to need to have any sort of flavor. All the sides were bland and room temperature, not even warm. Hospitals have better tasting food.

Father s Day. Dine In. Wait wasn t as long as we thought it would be. There were two of us. Greeter seemed very frazzled and commented openly and loudly . Customers don t want to see or hear that. Business was steady but not overly busy. Server took our drink order pretty quick but service went down from there. Interactions with server and ongoing requests took excessive time. Repeatedly had to remind server what our request had been. Ordered Appetizers and entrées. What I did not like was that we got the appetizer and entrées at the same time. Customers usually prefer to have an appetizer in anticipation of waiting for their meals to be prepared. That was a little annoying. Temperature wise appetizer was very hot. Our entrées were lukewarm and on the verge of cold. My wife ordered jalapeño cheese sausage and she got regular sausage. I ordered a New York strip steak and it was cold not hot. The food was well seasoned, but temperature wise , not good. We were hungry so of course we ate well actually I ate my wife took her home by the time they corrected it and got it right. I had already finished my meal. Dining area is a little too dark, could be a little lighter so you can see what you re eating Looking around and reading about this place is well established restaurant in temple. But our first experience was not a good one.

Slow service, long wait time for drive thru, taste of food was mid (not terrible but nothing to write home about just meh) and I think the prices were high for what you get. Like $15 for 2 white wings?! Not worth it. Also, chicken tenders, while large in portion, lacked flavor and weren t crispy AT ALL by time getting home (which was only 4 mins away) very disappointed.

This restaurant was very quiet and cozy with only a few guests. I was met with a pleasant smile from the greeter and seated quickly. My waitress was named Daisy. She was very kind, polite, and professional. How refreshing is that nowadays when people can be rude and uninviting. Daisy was a pleasant opposite. I must give this young lady her props because she had such pleasant disposition. Now, to grade the meal. I had the brisket and smoked turkey, which came with two sides. I wasnt too sure if I would like the brisket, so Daisy offered to have me try a sample before completing my order. That was very thoughtful and considerate. I also asked if I could have my food hot and not lukewarm or cold. A lot of restaurants have dropped the ball serving its customers cold food. In my opinion, this is unacceptable behavior. However, Daisy understood the assignment. Thank you. When she brought my food, the brisket was tender and flavorful, the turkey was pretty good but a little dry, and my okra and green beans tasted very good. But, the only issue I had was that the bacon in the green beans looked barely cooked. So I skipped the bacon and enjoyed the rest of the meal. I also ordered the Peach cobbler for dessert, and it was so-so. Im more use to it being far sweeter but I also understand the restaurant doesnt want to contribute to its guest becoming diabetic, soooo it was okay. Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience, and whenever I visit Temple again, Ill probably revisit this place.

We went through the drive thru. Sat for over 30 minutes before a man in a truck in front of the car in front of us pulled off. The car ordered and pulled to the window. We finally ordered and they were out of FOUR items we wanted. We pulled to the window and the woman had gotten out of her car blocking drive thru, went inside the restaurant, while we waited another 30 minutes. They weren t busy. Maybe 2 cars in the parking lot. They were quick to get the almost $60 for two meals with dessert but no drinks. We waited 20 more minutes and a cook came to the window to say they were out of the right cheese for the chopped steak sigh. Finally receiving the food there was no condiments, no napkins, the bag was greasy at the bottom and the food almost fell through, etc. I asked for a new bag, napkins that we still did not receive, condiments and a complimentary slice of pie. They gave everything except the napkins still. Why were we in drive thru for almost 2 hours? Why was service so bad? Why is the Peach Cobbler only two forks full for almost $8? Why were they out of so many items and it wasn t closing time they so had a few hours? Why was service super slow with no visible customers? Why did we pay so much money for subpar food? Why was both our small orders of pinto beans sour? Why was the smoked turkey deli turkey? Why didn t we pick somewhere else for early dinner? We definitely will not be back.

We got in and set down at 6pm the lady took our order at 6:03 so everything is starting out great there was only 3-4 other families so it was nice. Well that was till it took 45 minutes to get our food and when we asked the waitress for some rolls and butter, she took off before we could even finish the sentence. Then we waited till 6:50 before food came out and its not like we got anything like a steak that had to be cooked then we all got barbecue so it was pre-cooked along with the sides being precooked. They said that there was no okra or french fries for tonight which means they werent going to make anymore tonight even though people were ordering it which is fine we ordered something else for sides, but then when our food came out 45 minutes later you would expect it to be hot or at least good and warm it was neither it was barely room temperature, the only thing that was hot like it was fresh was a baked potato my wife had ordered. This was truly the worst experience weve ever had at Clems and weve been going there since the 80s. My condolences to the mikeska family dealing with the loss in their family and loved one, but I really hope yall will step in and check on the restaurant because your waitresses and management is not taking care of your customers in the way that Clem mikeskas restaurant is known for taking care of their customers Im not looking to receive anything in compensation I just would like the next customer not to have this kind of experience.

The manager blamed understaffing, but employees were seen laughing around. The apology felt insincere, and when we requested to remove the meal from the bill, only a fraction was deducted. Overall, the food was mediocre, and the service was abysmal. Wont be returning.

We started in the drive-thru we had never been there before. We asked for a minute and every few seconds the lady kept asking. What do you want? Finally I spoke up and said we havent been here before again and told her to wait. Next thing I know a mans on the line asking us what we want. So rude! Beyond rude actually. So we ended up leaving the drive-thru and going inside to order our food. The inside service was amazing. The waitress inside was kind and yes, while she rushed us a little bit she still gave us our time to figure out what we wanted and she answered our questions about the food. The place was clean. The bathrooms were clean. They were pretty kid-friendly. The only thing that maybe I didnt necessarily like about the place was that it was a little bit dark in there meaning lighting, but the vibe of the place was great. It was very Western/ cowboy/ Indian type of decor which I thought was really cool and so did my kids. They also have a lot of cool stuffed animals in there which my kids love to look at the different animals and point them out and tell me what they were. Food wise everything was great. Everything had great flavor. Good taste. And the food came out quickly and warm. Parking: I dont know the number of parking spots but they had lots of parking and drive thru was easily accessible. Kid-friendliness: The hostess was nice and brought us highchairs and boosters However I was disappointed they didnt have any carseat slings like most restaurants do. So we just had to turn over the highchair and use it as a carseat sling Wheelchair accessibility: Im pretty sure this place was wheelchair accessible. I cant quite remember but I think the ramp was to the side

starting this off by mentioning i have been a server/bartender for almost 15 years, so my frustration about my visit comes with the understanding of how the service industry works & knowing the bare minimum of what to expect at any restaurant. this was our first time visiting Clems, & we will never be back. when we got sat, our server was very nice! she got our drinks & our order quickly. we waited for fresh rolls, which came out slightly warm, but very hard. we waited almost 20 minutes (not an exaggeration) for our food, which isnt a huge deal if they had been busy, but we were one of the four tables in the restaurant, & the only ones who had ordered at that time (as everyone else already had their meals). the food came out barely room temperature. my partner decided to eat hers, but i called over the server to ask if they could warm mine up. when the server brought the warmed up plate out, the brisket was 75% fat. i started to try & piece together a bite, & decided to try my Mac & cheese, which was also cold - not even room temperature, the cheese was hard, the noodles were hard, it was all a mess. we sat for over 10 minutes, watching our server sit on her phone, or talk to other servers, not once did she come to check on our meals, ask if we needed drink refills, nothing. at this point, i was annoyed & after waiting for her to look over, i asked to speak to a manager. after sending out a very young kid, i expressed my issues with our meal, he apologized, discounted our meal & ran our card. the manager (whos name i assume is Miguel? not because he told me, but because thats the name on the receipt) barely made eye contact, was picking at his nails, & acted as if he couldnt be bothered. when he brought the receipt, he didnt even give us a pen to sign &/or tip (which i would have, being a server, i never leave $0, even when the food/server isnt great, but i understand the food not being warm was not her fault, so i still would have left at least 15%), so we left. overall, the service is mid, the food (even after being warmed up) was not good, & the overall experience was such a let down. i come from a small town, where supporting small businesses matter, but the server (who never told us her name) & manager here just did not give that type of experience. i understand bad days happen, but this restaurant seems to not care about their customers or their food quality. i would not recommend going here, & will not be back.

My food was cold, like you left it on a dining plate on your counter all day. Food looked great.. after reading all the good reviews, I looked forward to this place all week... I left half my plate untouched, and I never even received my 2d side.. even upon mentioning I never received it, it was not even offered. He pnly ate his because he was starving.. even his salad dressing was warm like it had been sitting all day unfridgerated. Ive only ever had worse food and service than this once in my life. Apparently, the cook walked out while we were dining. At least, thats what the waiter said. 3 party members order hamburgers, 3 hamburgers came, and none of them were correct. They also were not marked. So they had to go through them to try and find the right burger for the right person. Except none were correct. 1 was sent back. Supposedly, that was when the cook decided to walk out. About 20 minutes later, a correctly made burger was brought. Everyone else had already finished eating. My food (brisket and sausage, green beans) was cold. Refills were few and far between. Someone who is diabetic ordered an unsweet iced tea and got sweet tea instead. Told waiter, he said hed bring an unsweet, and then forgot. That said, every time he came to our table, he was literally running. And did eventually bring the correct drink. Seems like they were short on wait staff. Not going to flag poor service when the man was obviously trying.

Just disappointed. Was in the other evening 745 or so. I ordered a steak 16oz cooked med, recieved well/well done steak. It took awhile for the food to get served about thirty or so minutes. I did not want to complain. Really wanted a baked potato, they were out, its understandable, being that close to closing time, anyway the service was friendly enough. Considering the amount the ticket was 32 and some change was just disappointed like I said before. Most times I choose to eat there everything is pretty good, but the last few times seems as though the quality as well as the service has been poor. The upscale chic atmosphere not withstanding makes me reluctant to visit in the future.

Service and atmosphere was great. The food however... i ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, jalapeno sausage, and pork ribs. Brisket was probably the worst ive had. Ribs were ok flavor but a bit dry and tiny. Sausage was not too bad. Best thing on my plate was the broccoli salad. I doubt I will ever return tbh not when true tx bbq inside heb or rudys bbq destroys Clem which is saying something. My sister referred me to this place and my expectations i guess were too high.

This was an unplanned stop that turned out to be wonderful. A nicer atmosphere than many BBQ places, plus it offers a full menu if youre not in the mood for BBQ so everyone can get what they want. But that doesnt mean the BBQ isnt up to Texas standards. The in-house sausage was especially excellent.

Figured I d try some Bbq while in Texas, wasn t too impressed honestly. Mac and cheese (which was extra) and mashed potatoes and gravy were kinda just bland not really any flavor. The beef was good, and the ribs were ok. I did enjoy the sauce that came with it on the side. I got a takeout order and when I got back to my hotel I had one single napkin they put in the bag. There was bread but no butter, (assuming it came with and not just plain bread). There was pickles and onion on top of the food so most of it got pickle juice all over my food. I probably wouldn t go back. Maybe it s better in the restaurant, maybe not

I would be ashamed to refer someone to this restaurant due to the quality and quantity of the food. The ribs was cold and small and had a burnt ash taste to it, the brisket was thin and chewy looked like something u would put on a Philly cheese steak and I was not pleased...the mashed potatoes was tasteless.

It was exceptional. The brisket had a wonderful smoked flavor and was so moist and tender. The cornbread dressing (seasonal) was OMG out of this world. Sautéed broccoli cooked perfectly. Hot rolls with butter served immediately. Drinks stayed full. The ribeye was cooked med.rare as requested. Mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. Chicken fried steak had more meat than breading which is rare, it is hand breaded in house and is not a frozen patty. Pecan Pie al a mode. Everything was great. The service by Ash was spot on. She didnt miss a beat and had a great personality, and also served a 20 top as well as 2 other tables at the same time. This is a must stop when coming through Temple in our future travels. Thank you guys for great evening and thanks for turning on the Bama LSU game. Roll Tide.

The service was poor and took over 25 minutes to get our order, the food was cold and and taste like it was left from lunch. Server was to busy trying to cleanup before close and had to be asked to fill out drinks even after she walked by at least 6 times . I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone and will not be back. We walked in by 7:45 and close was 9 .

Today around 11:50 am, our server Joe was great. His services very attentive, respectful, and professional. Even though my wife beans was sour he apologized and offer other sides but she declined. Besides the beans the food was good. The best part of this, when we were leaving, my wife forgot her go box but by the time she got there they cleaned out the table. I figured that Joe saw my wife and what happened. He went to talk to someone and the gave her a new go box with the food we had on the last one. Awesome and thank you Joe for your taking care of us, we are very appreciative and thanks Clem Mikeska! Kid-friendliness: Had high chairs, very selective food for the kids, and the environment was comfortable.

If you want Chopped BBQ beef sandwich dont go here. Go to MPR BACKYARD BBQ they are cheaper and not greasy and at least one inch thick beef piled on it! Mikeska was greasy and not enough meat to cover the bun. Looked like leftovers at bottom of the pan. Not chunks of bbq. ????? Ugh On the other hand, the catfish was super good. MPR has good catfish too. Parking: Use drive thru always. Convenient

Ate here for the first time..hubby, myself and 2 kids. Very disappointed to say the least. $67 bill + tip and almost all of it was left uneaten. We tried but it was so bad. Kids both got chicken strips that were so big they were practically whole chicken breasts. They didnt eat them. They were too big and didnt taste good. There is an upcharge for Mac and cheese and it taste like its from a can. Hubby got the 2 meat plate(both chopped something) and he literally left the whole plate as it was so bad. Idk what that was he was served but it definitely wasnt actual smoked brisket. Didnt even try his sides he was so grossed out. I myself just got a veggie plate. The waitress, although she was nice and pleasant, picked up the uneaten plate with like 2 bites gone and saw all the uneaten food and asked if we wanted to go boxes. We replied with no thank you. Making it very obvious(without going full Karen and remaining polite) we were disgusted by the food. Nothing else was said..she cleared the almost full plates, brought us our $67 bill, we paid and left. Never again

I have many fond memories of after-church plate lunches at the Clem Mikeska s of old. It was always tri-tip back then, and possibly a link of sausage. This was the 60s and early 70s. Clem s was a simple clapboard building with the pits behind it along with a huge mountain of pecan wood. In my memories, the BBQ was flawless. The current mega-restaurant is nice, but the charm of the old building has succumbed to a Bass Pro Shop style taxidermy exhibition. Maybe my memories have enhanced the plates of old and elevated them to an unmatchable status, but I can t help but be a little disappointed with the current fare. They surely have all the tools to be cranking out some top tier BBQ, but it will be a challenge to overshadow the nostalgia of the old Clem s. One dish today was up to the challenge. The pea salad was just as delicious as I remember!

Both the chopped and sliced, had the consistency and flavor of overcook roast beef, lacking any moisture, and what little bit of fat there was, was rubbery. Even with what sauce they put on there, I found myself having to reach for a drink after every bite.

When I walked into this BBQ place that I had never been to before I wasn t sure if it s a cafeteria type place or a waitress/menu type restaurant. Anyway I walked up to the glass where people where preparing food and I was going to order something, but then I just got ignored and people were giving me dirty looks. It looked like your typical cafeteria line? Then I looked around and it seemed that there were waiters serving people at the table. So nobody was talking to me, and I was just standing there like an idiot, so I decided to leave and just go somewhere else.
