I read the reviews. I really cant understand the bad ones. I guess life just happens sometimes. I had chicken fried steak, my wife had chicken gizzards. Food was excellent other than my CFS didnt have enough gravy. Server (Heather) was friendly and attentive. I will be back.

I found this place for lunch today. Im in town for work. This place was packed around lunch time and those waitresses didnt let that slow em down. I never heard one customer complain and the entire staff was moving with urgency as.well as very polite and interactive with the customers. The food was great. I had the catfish and shrimp fired with taters and gravy and fries. I think the fries could of stayed in the fryer a little longer. But thats my personal opinion. it is a cash and check only place but they do have an ATM at the door. If your in the area go check em out. OH and the rolls are amazing.

The staff are happy and polite but my food was nor as I expected. The chicken liver were overdone and the tater tots were soggy. I ordered pick up to go and arrived a few minutes early. The food was hot but even the macaroni and cheese was disappointing. Being a bust Ftiday evening I will give it another try soon. Updated: I was on the hunt for a Good Burger and was told this was the place. After my previous experience I was reluctant. 1st I almost didnt go because they dont take cards, which meant finding an ATM in a KW... I went in and first person to say hi was Briley. She was a breathe of fresh air. Attentive, polite and a great conversationalist. The Burger was amazingly good and the onion rings above par, ask for the fresh meat, not frozen. I Wil be back, often. Id post a picture but I ate it before u thought of it. Miss Briley is the epitome of restraint service, outstanding.

Been there several times and the food is always good. In fact, one of my favorite is the Liver and Onions. Unlike most chefs, this one knows how to stop cooking before making it turn to shoe leather. Not many people know how to make that, but this chef reminded me of my mom making it in my childhood. Yummy.

We were disappointed by both the long wait for our food at a time when the lunch crowd was dwindling and the disparate delivery of the food. The food was generally enjoyable, though. I found the whole catfish very tender, but one must be careful around the skeleton. Our host highly recommended the hamburger steak and potato puffs. We all marveled at the size of the chef salad, and I hated for one of our party to leave it behind.

What a great time we had. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Our server was prompt and just a really nice person. I had the chicken fried steak, and it was delicious. I cannot bring myself to go back to this restaurant. I do not do any kind of review for any kind of free items, period. I heard that the food was supposed to be really good. I was In the mood for homemade style meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I placed my order around lunchtime, so the homemade foods should of been somewhat fresh, BUT NOOoooo I waited for 20 minutes, which during my time I closely watched the staff. I watchas a frown faced woman, take my meatloaf from a warmer, which was dried up near the microwave??? Placed it, the dry withered meatloaf, some sad looking mashed potatoes (?), possibly instant and floppy green beans onto a Styrofoam container, reheat it, handed it to me with a sour expression. It cost me around $13. No, She did not get a tip as I asked for a bag to carry it out. She did not warrant one. I got home, went to eat my meager meal. I bit into the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf has as hard as shoe leather, void of flavor and the mashed potatoes taster old. Needless to say, I spit it out. Threw it away. I wouldnt have feed this trash to my dog, even he deserves better. Yes, this review is harsh, but so was the food. Its been years, but the foods taste still lingers. I still refuse to step food in old Jodys. It needs a good cleaning and fresh food, ingredients. But then, that in itself is wishful thinking.

Restaurant was hot and crowded, no parking. No credit cards or American Express so don t come here if you are a corporate traveler with an expense account that you have to use a credit card. This was my first time here and I will always be coming back. Menu is out of this world. Had one of the best steaks that I have had for a long time side was baked potato. Why they call this the old Jodys I have no idea. This place is one of the secrets of Temple. Love this place . Update:Feb. 2, 2023, for me this place will be here long after Im gone. Ill always recommend this restaurant to all. Nothing is fancy here, just excellent food and great service. You can order ahead and pick up thru their drive thru also. 5 s . Update: 30 May, 2024. Alana was our server and she was friendly and helpful with suggestions on the menu. Our food came out hot and it was very delicious. We tried the 3 item sampler and we chose fried mushrooms, okra, and mozzarella sticks for the appetizer. Main entrée for me was the chicken fried steak, so good! Place very clean inside and out. Has been remodel since last visit. Very roomy and tables for 4,6,8. At 5 pm was 40% full. Had hamburger and tots and wife had gator. All was very good. I was so excited to go here but sadly did not quite hold up to my expectations. The chicken fried steak was indeed very good and tender but Ive had better. My husband and I shared because we were told it was very large and we dont eat much for lunch. My husband could have easily eaten it himself. Plus they were out of green beans so we substituted fried okra. The waitress forgot the okra. After several attempts to get it, we gave up as she never came back, or even made eye contact with us. Then, come to find out, her shift had ended and she was about to leave without giving us our check. We did finally get it. Easily could have dine & dashed but not our nature to do so. It is a cool place so maybe caught them on a bad day??

Jody s used to be a family favorite till our visit today. We walked in at 5:30 and it took about 15 minutes till drinks were ordered. Once we got our drinks our waitress didn t check on us again. We get it you re busy with business, but we are also part of the paying business. We ordered 4 burgers and a salad. When our food got to us an HOUR later my father told the waitress he wasn t impressed with service and that it had gone down since their remodel. My husband had a half salad that still hadn t even been brought to the table. The waitress was very friendly to my dad and apologetic and then walked away. I am assuming she told the owner who then came over to our table to so if we needed anything. My dad started by telling her that he understands it s Saturday and it s busy, but if they cannot keep up with the amount of customers maybe they should hire more help. The owner then began to put her finger in my father s face waving it and tell him, not to go there. Do not go there. I was honestly dumbfounded. I stood up and told her not to put her finger in his face and she threatened to call the cops? When my mom went to pay for the food the owner kept saying, he shouldn t have said that. Talking about my dad. When my mom asked her what my dad said she couldn t even remember or repeat it back. They tried to give us our food for free to remedy the situation, I guess. My mom told her we don t take handouts and left the money on the table. The owners daughter did try and give us our money back as we were walking out the door and we told them again, keep the money. We truly weren t there to cause problems, but if you don t want honesty from your customers DON T ASK. And for the owner to be so bold to wave her finger in a customers face in front of so many other people is shocking. He was telling her a simple truth. People should not have to wait an hour after ordering for their food. Not to mention we had a child with us, and when we arrived there was no wait for seating. We will never be back to this place again which is a shame cause I ve eaten at Jody s for as long as I can remember. Daytripper should ve done a piece on Wes s Burgers across the street.

We tried to check this place out a few months ago before a concert and it was really really busy...so we opted for something else. This time it was on our anniversary and we went early enough that we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Nice interior and a very busy staff. The server said that they were known for the burgers and chicken fried steak so we ordered a small chicken fried steak (they have 3 sizes) with fries and a triple cheeseburger with fries. The fries came first, had good texture and were quite enjoyable. The burger patties were surprisingly thick, well-seasoned and I would probably drop to a double next time. We took a photo of it in my hands after a bite or two to give proper perspective. The chicken fried steak could use more gravy but otherwise it was a win. It is good to note that they dont take debit or credit but have an ATM nearby. They also have a pick-up window for those just wanting a quick grab and go. I would also urge you to look upward when sitting at a table near the wall. Included in the pictures here is one of the air ducts above. I felt like it was raining on me (or spittle was flying in my direction with no one nearby.) If you zoom in on that photo, you will see the condensation gathering on the ductwork. I say this just so you can be aware ahead of time or you can ask for a different table. Overall.. a great evening, good menu and food that explains why they are so busy. We wont wait for our next anniversary to return.

Food was kind of bland ordered the sampler w/mus,frpic/pep and they were not real fresh and no difference in the taste. Took 25 extra min to get a burger added but the cashier was pretty awesome. Serving sizes should be a little bigger. Banana pudding was great as usual.

Everything was very greasy. I had to send the fries back twice. Finally just ordered mashed potatoes instead she threw them on the table very rude. I had a cheeseburger the cheese didn t even look like real cheese. It wasn t melted at all. My husband had a chicken fried steak. It was also very greasy. The only thing that was good was the fried mushrooms and the fried okra surprisingly enough they wasn t greasy I will never return to that restaurant.

This place has pretty good food, we did enjoy the meal. The service was great. However, there was one strong theme we noticed. Everything needed salt, nothing was cooked with salt or seasonings as far as we could tell. If youre into that, fine. If you arent, be aware.
