About the Company
rating: 4.2
The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation inspires community pride by collecting, preserving, communicating, and celebrating the history of Sugar Land, Texas. The incentive for forming the SLHF was the shutdown of the refinery in 2003. The refinery site, which had been processing sugar since the mid-1800’s, contained a vast treasure trove of historical artifacts, documents, and photographs that traced the evolution of the site from its early days as a working plantation into its more modern era as a company town.

We went to the museum but the door was locked. A kind lady told us that you have to book TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE!!!! Not recommended.

Displays about Sugar Land history are well done, but the place is pretty sparse. There is space and potential I hope will be used in the future.

Its a small museum, just starting off on the right foot. They have now an exhibition about día de muertos presented by local families, a permanent Sugar Land time line and a few Imperial Sugar historic objects. Im looking forward for more local history exhibitions.
