At 6pm on a Wednesday I walked in and the place was completely empty. That should have been a clue. The a/c was either not working. Or turned up high cause it was hot and musty in the dining area. The young woman working that evening came out from the back to take my order. I asked her a few questions about the menue and food. Most of her answeres were a dull. I dont know. A cook was chilin in the back so I called out through the window to ask him. He didnt budge, nor even look up. She said. he doesnt speak English. So I took some some guesses and ordered 3 individual tenders and the chicken fries. The fountain drink machine was not working so the fountain drinks were hot and the machine was not making ice. One other customer came in while I was eating and it turns out, this machine has been out of order for quite some time, as I heard that customer complain it was not working last time he was there (cant imagine why someone would return. But to each his own). Anyway, bought a water and a bubly. About $35 for 3 tenders chicken fries and two bottles/canned drinks. Not a great deal but it did include a tip for the girl working the register. The the dining area was dirty and poorly maintained. Vinyl seats torn and peeling. Tables had not been wiped down, several were crumby and greasy. And walls were grimey with ketchup or sauce dried on the wall at the booth I sat in. The garbage cans were over flowing. Considering there was no customers when I entered and business was SLOW, (only one other customer in about half an hour) it is a shame the employees couldnt take up a little basic housekeeping. Employees seemed as if working there was such a drag. This is all signs of bad management and lack of training. When my order was ready she called me from behind the counter. Considering the place was empty it would have been nice if she walked around and brought it out to where I was sitting (I had given her a tip for just taking my order and not answering most of my questions), but hey, no big deal. Food was NOT good. The chicken tenders were tiny. At about $3 or $4 each they are WAY overpriced. I also realized she actually got my order wrong, I ordered 3 individual tenders and she brought me one individual tender and a chicken basket with fries (which I did not want). I ordered medium and extra hot. The chicken itself was dry and lacks flavor. The seasoning was just dry spices it tasted like old stale spices and could taste the inside of the spice container. The aspirated some seasoning when taking a bite, thats how dry it all was . The Texas toast did not taste buttered, rather it tasted like bland griddle oil and was not good and a little soggy. The sauce I felt was overly sweet. I did not care for the pickles. They are too thin and too sweet and not at all crispy. The chicken fries were just gross. Fries undercook and soggy drenched in gobs of salty cheese sauce that was already chill by the time my order was ready. Send the a/c in the back was working fine. It was ice cold in the restroom. Restroom was dirty, garbage full. Toilet and floor needrd to be cleaned, smelled like a bad gas station restroom. Will not give this nor any other HHC another chance. Bad food, bad service, filthy store, poorly maintained. Just over all an unpleasant experience.

I am beyond disappointed at this L behavior from this chain! $10 for a sandwich a year or so ago was not too much looking at the size (see first picture) the chicken Pattie alone was the size of Texas so I was like thats fair. Mind you as a regular customer I have NEVER had satisfactory service in here especially from that girl with short hair but since the food was spicy enough it worked anyways. The service was 0/10 as well, not friendly staff. Only 2 people working in the shift a young white lady and a young black man who aren t friendly . Were game for hot chicken, so when we learned it was open we had to stop by. . We asked the cashier what was popular and were directed to the sandwiches. I ordered a chicken sandwich meal (medium hot) and my wife had the wrap (also medium hot). . The meal came with a drink and waffle fries. I got lemonade (wheeeee tart!). The fries were a generous portion, useful to stanch a burn had there been one. . The sandwich was great. I liked the slaw, the sauce was good, and the breast was large and juicy. It was flavourful, but not terribly spicy. If you like Nashville hot chicken, go at least one level up. The bun was excellent, by the way. . My wifes wrap was almost the same, but with chicken bites instead of a breast, and of course a tortilla rather than a bun. . Overall, a really good experience with real potential.

They make very good hot chicken, but that is it. Their fries are consistently underdone (even if you order them differently), they are floppy not crispy, stale tasting and quite expensive. Howdys is the most unreliable fast food restaurant you can order from within the whole city. I ordered howdys for the first time for pick up about 6 months ago and was told 15 minutes. I drove over which is a (12 minute) drive and proceeded to waiting 45 min. After I told them I don t even want the food at this point and just to return my money they proceeded to make it and send me off. To my surprise my whole order was wrong. You d think they would know what they re making. Fast forward to today, I m craving hot chicken and I call to place my order but ask for the manager only to be hung up on by the person answering. I proceeded to call about 3-4 times thinking it was a call drop/service issue but when finally picked I m told sir no manager is here can you stop calling I don t have time to answer this phone I m busy management is horrible which shows by their choice of employees. I m for sure never eating there again and will opt for anyone of their competition. I do not know how this place is even still open besides being in a prime location.

I happened to be passing by and wanted to try something new. I looked at the reviews and menu online and decided to go with the loaded fries. I walked in the restaurant and it was very clean. There were no workers at the front so I had to wait for someone to come from the back. She wasnt rude but wasnt very welcoming either. She did smile. I told Sophia (name on my receipt ) it was my first time there but she not make suggestions. I ordered the loaded fries and the wait was decent. When my order was ready she called me over and I was on my way. I had to get a taste in the car and the food was very good but it was missing ingredients that were listed on the menu! The pickles would have made this dish amazing. The service was not good but the food will have me going back for more at another location. I bought the chicken, tender kids meal, which states that it s not spicy. When I got home and opened the box, found the chicken very dark, almost burnt. Then when I tasted it, it tasted burnt and spicy, and my son refused to eat it because it was too spicy for.

Placed an order online for my husband to pickup for himself on his way home. Order was ready on time and picked up with no problem. When he arrived home and sat down to eat, the chicken was so hard it was inedible. He called the restaurant right away to inform them, but wasn t going to to be able to go back and pickup another due to the distance. The person he spoke with said for him to call back in the morning to speak with a manger. We called the next day and the manager wasn t in, but the person that answered assured us that they would have him give us a call when he got back. Days later and we haven t heard from anyone. It s unfortunate since we use to love eating here, but it s safe to say due to quality and lack of customer service we won t be returning.

I went to this place for the first time. The food is overrated. It was not good. The fries were undercook and old. The chicken thigh sandwich was not good. The staff forgot one of my fries I ordered or just didnt give it to me. I ordered 4 and only got 3. I was mad at myself I sent $50 there. I will not return. Also, the staff was not friendly.

My boys and I were ready to try to some hot chicken in our neck of the woods and Howdys fit the bill. Its in a great location and is very clean. It wasnt too busy and our food came out hot and fast. The chicken strips are a good size, have good crunch, and are tender and juicy. The flavor in all dishes seemed bland/lacking and we tried different levels of heat.

I used to enjoy their food, but quality has gone extreamly down. We bought 3 sandwiches and all three the meat was like biting into rubbery like texture. More so on the thicker ends. I drive an hour to get their food to go, so it wasnt until I got home and ate that we realized and couldnt really go back because its so far away but a shame all 3 were the Same.

My first time visiting Texas and I wanted to try something different...so glad I did! Went with my boyfriends aunt and I got a chicken sandwich that was dusted with seasoning after being fried, covered in a sauce with slaw on the bun, it was a little spicy and cool at the same time and maaan was it good! They also have loaded fries that look amazing and I will be trying the next time I go back! My daughter also LOVED the Mac n cheese.

Pictures and reviews are deceiving! This is the worst chicken place I have ever been to!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I should have known when I walked in at 1pm on a Saturday and there was no other customer but me. You guys 4.2 stars really ?!? NOT REALLY. My kids didn t even like it and they eat MCDS NUGGETS! I got the chicken sandwich , when I bit into it crunched in my mouth that continued while I was chewing. It s was not the breading that was crunchy it was the actual chicken that was crunchy. Nothing has flavor the fries were soggy and barely cooked. The Howdy Basket is 12 bucks for two very small chicken fingers and a small scoop fries. Over priced frozen cardboard. No flavor .. none. I wouldn t waste your time here! I don t even think this place can get better. If you want a good chicken place THE WAFFLE BUS, is the place to go, great flavor good worth the price!!
