Stumbled upon this place on a Saturday morning. Saw good reviews and decided to give it a try. Loved the decor. Everyone is nice and friendly. However, someone served our food to another table, had to wait extra long for our orders to be cooked again. Food is exactly how you would imagine from an average diner. Never got refills on our water or coffee. Waitress gave us the bill the moment we got our food. No service afterwards. Would not go back again.

First time trying out since Ive passed by many times. They have a lot of options for food and even veggie options. Service was great and our waitress was nice. The food is not so great though. Pretty bland and stale tasting. I had their breakfast omelette with hashbrowns and a side of toast. They do give a big portion size for their meals which is amazing, but I couldnt finish my plate just from the taste. Dont think Ill consider trying any of their other plates just from what Ive had.

I was not expecting this place to be that good. The breakfast side was great. Huge biscuit and soft. The omelet was good and the the grits with the cheese and bacon was great. Now the dinner side. A typical diner with an extensive menu. Breakfast is served all day. Once lunch becomes available, the options ate also available until closing. They serve a hefty portion. The place is clean, the servers are friendly and informative. Ask for Adrian. He is customer oriented! Kudos! The whole place is reminiscent of a northwest ambience. Updat: 08-11-24, weve been visiting Black Bear diner on University Blvd in Sugar Land weekly for the past month or so. Weve been fortunate to have Ruben as our hospitality staff member. He always has a friendly, welcoming smile. He remembers our orders and is always attentive. Always nice to see him there.

My daughter order a waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon. She said it was the best waffle she s ever had. Very fluffy and soft. I didn t even get a chance to try it, she ate it so fast. It s a lazy Sunday so I searched for a place to pick up a breakfast curbside and this restaurant came up. Never tried it before so figured I d order something, since it was curbside, I drove there in my pajamas and barefoot. When I got to the restaurant there were no curbside parking spots so I called to ask and they said they didn t have it and I had to come in to the restaurant to pick up, since I wasn t in a decent condition I asked to cancel my order but the lady said she d make an exception and bring it out for me. When she brought the food out she proceeded to give me a speech about it being a risk and disability for her to walk outside to give me my food and scolded me that in the future they won t help me. OK, I don t need a scolding at 9am in the morning, PLEASE FIX YOUR ORDERING SYSTEM and you won t have this issue. I m only a new customer that won t be back, terrible customer service. Food was average at most, nothing special.

The server didnt bother to check in until the end to drop the check and let us know to pay up front. The kids meal was charged as an adult meal as well as the kids drink. The only reason for 2 stars is you do get a good amount of food and the sweet tea and orange juice are very good. Service and food quality need a lot of work. If the food was actually hot and the server didnt have an attitude this place would be 5 stars.

Katy location needs to stop charging for their salsa! I believe it should be offered as a condiment like ketchup, butter, hot sauce, syrup etc... By the way, its not even that good in my opinion, I prefer a spicier (hot) variety, truth be known. Sugarland location was more than generous with my request of salsa, no additional charge.

This place serves a delicious brunch. Theres so many options to choose from, I make sure to pick out something new whenever I come in! This time, I got the California omlette (minus the mushrooms). It was delicious and filling. I also got a Blueberry lemonade to go, that was a sweet treat! Our server Catherine was attentive and kind. The other waitstaff were also very nice.
