Saw the episode of Eat like a Local featuring Atkinson farms. Since mom lives live close by we decided to stop by to grab some sweet potatoes. Wow, the farm store has lovely looking fresh vegetables. Of course, we did not leave with just sweet potatoes. We got mustards, collards, onions, tomatoes, red sweet peppers, and the sweet potatoes. My salad tonight will be super fresh and colorful .

We went here for a school field trip I was a little skeptical due to some reviews but the kids had a great day. There were plenty of strawberries, a playground, train ride for the kids and a donkey. They also have a covered pavilion with picnic tables. We had special pricing for a field trip so I am not sure about pricing but given our experience I would definitely go back.

The senior management workers were very rude. The middle aged woman said that if someone cant pay thelat they need to go out into the field and work for it. I was blown back by a response like that. It also was not clear that when you pick you have to buy all in your basket. A man was leaving their shop upset about paying $50 but we didnt know what he was talking about until we went to check out. Very disappointed went a while back and it was a good experienc so I brough a friend and her family with me this time (their first time) but from this experience I will not be back and certainly not recommend this place to others.

Came to this farm for the first time today with my family, we were very excited to go strawberry picking. There was no direction on where to go and had to figure it out. We went into their little store where we had to buy the buckets and a wristband. The old lady at the register had an ugly attitude. We didnt have any items in our hands cause we were just trying to get the buckets which they have AT the registers. She raised her hands in the air as of shes saying well what are you buying? This was before I could even get a chance to say anything. I want to clarify I didnt give her an attitude back or even to begin with, we instantly felt like if you arent white you are getting a whole different treatment. I saw that at one register they had red buckets and white buckets for the strawberry picking, I kindly asked the younger lady at one of the registers if I could switch ONE of the 5 buckets we just purchased at that moment for A red one. The ladys reply was No because its already paid for and already been touched. I didnt want to ruin my familys excitement so we went to the field and picked our berries and went to pay for what we picked and left. Only good thing about this trip was spending time with my family, but sad to say we gave this place a chance and they have failed to be good to their customers, we have agreed not to return to this farm again.

Oh, very fresh products to buy, pure bee honey, tanned products, fruits and vegetables from the garden for sale, all fresh and delicious The only thing is that I would like to see more fruits in the gardens, like strawberries, grapes... and I would also like to be able to walk among the sunflowers, they are very close together and it is impossible to walk between them They have very good customer service, friendliness and cleanliness in the place

I got there w my girlfriend, and the woman working at the front had an attitude as if someone died. After talking with some other visitors while we picked berries, they had the same experience. I genuinely would have placed a bet on a tragedy haven taken place in her life recently due to her bad attitude, but after reading reviews, it seems to be her normal behavior. She also told me to pick berries in bushels that didnt have any berries and some other guy told me there are no berries there so he drove me in the golf cart about 500ft away to different bushels. Why she told me to pick there, I do not know. They charge $3/person + $1.50 for a bucket + $6 per pound for black berries, and the berries arent even in good shape. The good ones were delicious, but rare, and a lot of the berries (50%) had bug infestations and were not edible. Additionally, there is nothing to do there besides the self-picking, and for the lack of quality, it was not worth it. My girlfriend and I were disappointed, and we both agreed we will not be going back, ever. I seriously dont know how people are leaving good reviews for the place. Maybe they did not interact w the same woman upfront, or maybe the farms other produce is in good shape and I happened to go at the wrong time? Lastly, their in store shop is overpriced, and there are farms with much more attractive prices where you dont have to checkout by talking to the witch woman up front.

Disappointed with Atkinson Farms Berry Picking Experience ( 06.01.2023) Rating: I recently visited Atkinson Farm with high hopes for a fun and fruitful berry picking experience. While the farm itself had its positive aspects, I was ultimately left disappointed by the lack of organization and the underwhelming berry availability. Firstly, I must acknowledge that Atkinson Farm does have some redeeming qualities. The farm itself is pleasant, and the atmosphere is serene and peaceful. The setting provides a lovely backdrop for a day out in nature. Additionally, the farm is well-maintained, and the staff members were friendly and helpful. However, the main purpose of my visit was berry picking, and this is where the farm fell short. Most of the berries were not ready for picking, which was quite frustrating. It appeared that the farm did not adequately monitor the ripening process, leading to a limited selection of ripe berries available for picking. This lack of organization was disappointing, as it detracted from the overall experience. Moreover, I found the pricing structure to be quite steep. There was an entry fee of $3, which I consider reasonable for access to the farm. However, on top of that, I was required to pay $6.99 per pound for the berries I picked. While I understand the need to cover costs, the additional charge felt excessive, especially considering the limited variety and availability of ripe berries. Furthermore, Atkinson Farm lacked additional activities or entertainment options. After completing the berry picking, there was nothing else to do on the premises. This resulted in a rather monotonous and uneventful visit, making it difficult to justify the time and expense of the trip. In conclusion, while Atkinson Farm has some positive aspects, I left feeling disappointed with the berry picking experience. The lack of organization and the limited availability of ripe berries hindered the enjoyment of the visit. Additionally, the pricing structure felt excessive, considering the underwhelming experience and the absence of other activities. I would recommend exploring other options for a more engaging and satisfying farm visit.

I have been hearing about this farm lately online, and I have driven by it countless times but never actually taken the time to go inside. Now, they dont have strawberry picking all the time, especially now that it is summer, but they did have strawberry and blackberry picking in March and April and currently they have sunflower picking where you can cut a flower for a dollar and take it with you. I think its a little bit misleading because you think that they charge by the pound for the berries and charge by the pound for the fruit, but you also have to pay the admission fee of each child of going into the field, and pay for the buckets separately which of course every little bit starts to add up quickly. I did not have time this day to look around the store that they have but I definitely will be back to look around some more and get some fresh groceries from here. I like that they have play area for the kids to play in, they have a separate sand pit and a covered area with little toys which is the main reason for the stars and honestly a huge part of why we want to come back. I would recommend to go here at least once and try it out, even if the Texas sun is beating down. I would also love to come in autumn so we can check out the things they have to do during the fall harvest.

And demanded us to close the door which can hardly stay closed! Muddy puddles, overgrown grass everywhere but no strawberries! Even if there were strawberries, who can go there in the mud and their messy, unattended strawberry patches unless someone is ok to get there feet stuck on mud. They could have at leaset taken the responsibility to check the patches before updating that they are open for picking! Please go find a different place, these bad reviews of people explains the place very well!

Once we checked in, there were no signs of where to go to pick strawberries. Just followed people who were walking out from the side. When we walked thru the fields, there were barely any strawberries left. Ended up with about 7 strawberries. Wish they could have told us at check in that there may be low to none left to pick. Definitely come out here early and earlier in the season.

We have visited their farm store many times, over the past 10 years. During the early spring, you can pick your own strawberries, the plants are located directly in front of the store. We have done this quite a few times and always found plenty of strawberries. The rest of the year we know we can get the freshest tomatoes, that you will find anywhere. They have even gone out and cut fresh lettuce for us. Highly recommend this local farm.

I came here multiple times and was happy with the experience of paying extra for farm fresh food until today. My pregnant wife picked 5 blackberries that were along the fence line where you park your car, and some woman (employee or owner?) came over and very rudely told my wife she had to pay for those blackberries and that they were $6 a pound! I see plenty of pictures and reviews here of people picking a few blackberries along the fence and I m sure no one yelled at them to pay for the couple berries they picked. Anyways hope you enjoyed that dollar I gave you for those overpriced self picked berries because it was the last dollar you ll ever get from me.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Staff was very rude to my wife and children. Not much to choose from and the prices are ridiculous. I ll never go back. I ve always had a great experience at Moorhead s Blueberry farm. Very disappointed.

Wonderful selection of produce and a great experience picking strawberries. The lady behind the desk was a little less friendly but not rude and Im sure it was an off day. 10/10 will be back.

I was so exited to visit this place!! And it came out as the worst experience ever from the old lady that is inside the store she was really rude and racist if you aren t white she would treat you with no respect and verily said anything to you when I checked in I said hey good afternoon! and she just gave me an ugly look I m never coming to this racist place anymore and their prices are ridiculous extremely expensive for strawberries !!! Almost 4 dollars for a pound of strawberries ended up paying 14 dollars when in the stores are more cheaper and organic!!!

By far the best farm I take my kid too. They have a very well built playground for kids of all ages and all sorts of fruits and produce to pick. Highly recommend

Good experience- enjoyed an hour or so picking ripe strawberries with the kids. Prices are reasonable and the employees were friendly. We picked 11 pounds of berries and had fun baking with them.

Expensive! $15 for just under 2 lbs of strawberries that aren t organic. It s $3 per person as an entry fee plus $1.5 for the basket. I took my toddler and although you aren t allowed to eat as you pick, I thought I better try one before we pick a bucket full. That s when I wished I hadn t pick as much as we did. I ve bought better organic ones at the supermarket for less. I also bought some of their fresh vegetables and onions were part brown and soft on the inside.

So Their produce is absolutely beautiful and I am excited to eat the produce, but with that being said, the older woman at the register was not welcoming at all. She had a very cold demeanor and I m guessing her kids(?) were a lot more friendlier and were happy to help. After my experience with her, I don t think I d want to come back. I may try to find a more friendlier farm.

It may be family fun for you, but living next to the farm is an ongoing nuisance that they really dont care about. The smell of rotting grain is constant. Their chickens are frequently coming into the yard and damaging landscaping. On more than one occasion their dogs have broken down the fence and continued to cause damage in the yard. If you want to support a local farm find one that makes a better neighbor.
