This place really needs to put a burn ban notice on its website. Super disappointing. Other than that it was great. I would check out the campsite from Google Earth though. Our campsite had the tent spot really close to the road. Oh! And AC in the bathroom! Underrated in Texas.

I went for a day visit so I cannot comment on the camping. I did a hike which was very beautiful but also very very muddy. There are plenty of picnic tables by the river to enjoy lunch. The river was perfectly cool. Ankle deep shallow in some places and deep enough to swim in other places. Definitely bring water shoes as the entire river and beach areas are river stone. The rangers were very nice and helpful. Its a great park!

The water was cool and refreshing in the Hot weather around Texas so worth the trip to come over here. The river flows quite far and people pass through this spot in particular from another area that they tube at so be aware of tubers! The water is crystal clear but beware of slippery rocks that can have you falling or stain your clothes. the parking is free but its quite hard to try to get a spot.I suggest driving around and being friendly to ask someone if you can park in there spot if you see anyone leaving !Besides that the park rangers are always on the watch to make sure the area is clean and people are safe and content.I definitely recommend going here if you have the chance to float in the water and enjoy! Playground: A playground is there but more people are closer by the river. Toilets: The restrooms are extremely dirty but I guess you can say it gets the job done .I think someone should just get a bucket of bleach and water and toss it in there at least for a good clean. Dog-friendliness: Multiple dogs around the area including water ,Pet owners just have to be sure to take them out to use the restroom so it doesnt float pass someone. Picnic area: Picnic table areas for you to have a mini event or party but its far from the river side.

Took the family to this park for a day trip. It was a blast. My kids are 7 and 9 and can swim pretty well. They loved it and the water was nice and cool in a 100 degree day. Do your research for cost. We got there at 10:30 and had plenty of parking and our pick of the picnic tables. Had to wait about 10 minutes to check in with the park ranger. Bring cash, it makes it easier, but card is accepted. You cant go wrong with this place if you like water. Bring water shoes too. River is all rocks. We grilled out with a gas grill as well. Burn ban was in affect. Cant wait to do this again. Core memories were made here with my kids. Lastly, the bathrooms were clean and had AC! Very unusual for a state park! Toilets: Nice and clean Dog-friendliness: Yes many dogs were out playing Picnic area: Yes many tables available

Great relaxation to be had in the river here! Great for families, couples and solo trips. Camp spots were generous and secluded. Bathrooms & showers need an upgrade or 2 but not a deal breaker. Toilets: Outdated and small. Need some seating or hooks in showers to hang or put dry belongings. Picnic area: So many shady tables! Plenty for everyone.

Went camping and had an amazing time with my family. I drove my cybertruck to the camping ground, and they had a water sink and outlet to plug your electric car thats 30w and also 120v plug. And a picnic area, so if you get too hot in the summer, you can sit in the AC and cool down and not worry about losing power. I would highly recommend it. Toilets: Nice and clean with showers. Dog-friendliness: The place is dog friendly. Just make sure your dog is on a leash. Picnic area: You can have a picnic with your family and have an amazing time with great views

We waited till 5 to go to the river area with it being so hot and the cliff was starting to provide shade so it worked out perfectly! The water was fairly warm and good enough to float. Definitely make sure to take water shoes. There are rocks everywhere. The water is only knee high, but my children made the best of it and did not want to leave. We took a walk and found a second spot with small Rapids. We look forward to coming back and exploring some more. Playground: The only general playground we saw was a single slide and two swings next to the changing area and picnic tables. Which was fine because that is not why we were there. Toilets: The restrooms were clean and right across from the parking lot. However, the changing rooms which are in the same area could use some work. Picnic area: There are lots of picnic tables and grills.

Lovely park indeed!!! I give it 4 stars because it gets packed with people you literally have families sitting beside you like 4 feet apart also its quite a ways from the parking lot to the river and its very steep just come prepared with help and or do not bring so much stuff because you will get tired. If you dont mind disregard. No alcohol allowed and there is park police that walk around every once in a while checking. Drink at your own risk. Getting in took longer then expected about 30 min wait. I think if they had a better entrance system people would be able to get in faster just my opinion. Otherwise very nice park we enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back.

This was one of the best camping experiences I have ever had. The bathrooms are immaculate as are the camp sites. Everyone is friendly and respectful, maintaining the quiet hours and keeping the park clean. We also enjoyed the river access. I already cant wait to come again Playground: Small but adorable playset by the discovery center Toilets: The cleanest restrooms I have ever seen at a public location Dog-friendliness: Lots of people had their dogs and were very respectful about keeping them on leashes Picnic area: Every campsite has their own picnic table and there are lots of public picnic tables at the river access

So nice. We had a great time in the river. And we enjoyed the primitive site. No cars it was like a big park.

Parks with water are great, and this park is one of the better ones! Walking trials are great and stepping into the cool water on a wake day is a great way to cool down!

Awesome park right infront of you. But a sample hike either way reveals even more beauty. When we got done with the hike I went to the bathroom and was greeted with the smell of clean.

Everywhere you look was just more beauty. The staff were very helpful, the grounds absolutely beautiful, and given the time, afternoon on the weekend, not terribly crowded. If I lived near here, I would visit frequently. Sadly, I do not. Playground: I dont have children, but I did observe that the playground looked entertaining and safe. It was not the Nerf style padded sort, but still looked relatively new and, again, safe. Toilets: Clean and well-appointed. Dog-friendliness: All of the dogs, and the one cat, that we came across were well-behaved and on leashes. Picnic area: There were many tables, lots of shaded spots, and, depending on what you brought with you, a feast for all of the senses. We had ham sandwiches, they were delicious. But Im sure that whatever you determine best to bring will also be delicious.

Really nice campground. Large area per site, with a concrete pad for tent, also a nice metal picnic table. Had a pit for fire or for cooking, and restrooms were fairly close by. Also had separate showers next to the restrooms. Reasonably priced. Make reservations because Im sure the campgrounds fill quickly. We also had electricity.

The water was really low. The campsites are clean and the bathroom facilities are very nice. The campsites are super close together and you can hear everything everyone is saying at all the campsites around you. Quiet time is observed for the most part. Toilets: Great showers and very clean restrooms.
