First time trying out this place and its definitely a place I will come back. Our order was Fried Mushrooms, Fried Pickles, Buffalo Wings and a Supreme Pizza. All food was hot, juicy and full of flavor. The pizza taste homemade not factory made, the pickles were crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside, the wings were big, juicy and the sauce was to the point and finally the mushrooms were crunchy and juicy. The service was great our server was courteous and the place is big enough with a good atmosphere.

Absolutely wonderful pizza! Crust is nice and chewy, your jaw will be tired after two slices (like New York City pizza I had a long time ago). I had the Greek salad also, it was very good with real lettuce not some wimpy spring mix. Highly recommended!

Ok! We came out of town we decided to all try this place. 1. Small inside. 2. Pretty nice inside. 3. Middle of down town. Peperoni Pizza great hot wingz were definitely hot! Good flavor. I love a cold salad and it was cold ceaser salad! Cheese stick were also great. Over all food was GREAT give it a 8. Service.... absolutely horrible! 4 people at the bar. Has 5 6 person tables or so and a few 2 person tables. Waitress got our drinks and never came back we had to wait for her to serve other tables, drink her drink, check her phone lollygag around and 2 other tables that came in after us got their food and drinks before we did before we finally waved her down to take our order. I made the whole order since we didnt have time on our end to enjoy an appetizer and our main food. It all came out pretty quick. Later down our time of eating She ask to refill a water for my child... she never brought the water back again we had to wave her down to bring it again. Not a place I want to return or to recommend just because the service isnt great. 1. I did notice she was the ONLY waitress serving. Megan is the waitress she either cant waitress well or she was to busy. I would recommend ordering it to go.

Spent almost forty bucks on a pizza and fried mushrooms. Went inside about time food said would be ready for pickup. As I had noticed the mushrooms were already ready, I was told it would be another ten minutes for my food. Instead of handing me or offering me the appetizer while I await the extra ten minutes to make my food since I wasnt given a heads up prior...I got mildly warm and a little extra chewy fried mushrooms and a hot pizza. Could of done better. Will revise if they look into reviews and have a resolution within the situation as we all make mistakes and have areas of opportunities to enhance. Good food though

The pizza here is bomb, I always get a margarita slice. They come up with a really creative feature pizza each week, and I have loved some of those too (bring back the margarita pesto! lol) I have been to every pizza and wing place in town, and I have to say they have the best wings! Honestly though in my opinion I don t like the flavor of the breading on the fried mushrooms and artichokes or the presentation/dressing of the caprese salad. I always opt for the ceasar salad and it s amazing. A more traditional caprese salad with a balsamic glaze and crostini s would really hit the spot here. But really the very best thing about this place, is the kind staff that s always hustling. It s sooooo hard to find that on the square these days! They also have a really good selection of rotating drafts. Definitely stop in if you re passing through and if you live here and you haven t been here, you re missing out!

Met up with a friend here for some pizza. Staff were friendly and responsive. She really enjoyed her pizza by the slice--they have weekly special bizarre pizza and she really liked the Cheetos on her one slice! The crust was thin, but really good. I got a gluten-free pizza with a bunch of veggies on it. The crust was, unfortunately, not good. The veggies werent as described and werent really cooked. Must have something to do with cook time and the crust and veggies having different. Seems great for someone who can eat lots of gluten, though! Kind of pricey for pizza that really was not good. Also, had a delicious hot cocoa. Seems more like a bar than a pizza place, which is cool, but not my scene. Vegetarian options: Some veggies available, but limited/not as described for toppings. Dietary restrictions: Have a gluten-free crust, but not very good. Crispy, but not tasty.

The customer service was great and the Lemon Drop I had to drink, great as well. I just thought the pizza was eh . I felt it needed more, sauce, flavor(garlic, salt, maybe better cheese?) It was my first time there today and I went because of the stars and reviews. I ll try it again, maybe it was the pizza I had which was Veggie; but even with a Veggie pizza, you d want more flavor. If youre looking for a good Brooklyn style pizza I highly recommend this place they got a good selection including a build your own pie with Pesto and Alfredo options! A slice is 5$ for classic options, good enough if you just wanna try it out and around 20+ for a box. This is definitely a spot where you wanna eat it straight out the oven to get your full enjoyment out of the pizza so careful if you live far! [Side note] The parking is crazy if youre not from downtown so beware.

Im not entirely sure why this place is going downhill live Ive seen in other reviews. Honestly made a very simple order over door dash large cheese pizza and garlic knots. I called shortly after the order was placed and no one picked up... Ok weird Ive worked at pizza places around the area for three years Ive never had the call go to voicemail so I call back about 5 minutes later after about 5 or 6 rings a guy picks up Valentinos what do you want! I just tell him I placed a door dash order under my name and just want the pizza double cut uhm yeah were like busy right now I mean Ill tell them but they probably wont then hangs up before I say anything back. Honestly I get that you can be busy but Ive worked places with the same little toast tablets you guys have you literally just have to write it in it takes 5 seconds. We were in town to visit Texas State and found Valentino s exploring downtown. Love their creative pizza of the week offerings! Service was great. They actually have CRAFT beer, not kraft. Update 10-5-23 : Took off the only salad worth ordering here, the field greens, and had no wings......this is not the way to keep local paying customers coming back........ Awesome experience dining here for lunch. You know it is going to be great when you walk in and see someone mixing dough and shredding fresh cheese right by the front door. Love the open kitchen, they have nothing to hide and make real, fresh, amazing food. Had an assortment of items, fried artichokes, garlic knots, buffalo wings, salad, and a chicken bacon ranch pizza, they all impressed! Out back is a great full bar and outdoor patio, great music playing with a great vibe. Glad to see a locally owned and operated business getting it done the right way! Everyone loves a good redemption story, right? ... Right?! This is our first time at Valentinos since they re-opened, and honestly, it far exceeded our expectations. TL;DR: Atmosphere: 9/10 Food: 10/10 Pizza ranch: 11/10 Beer selection: Good Enough/10 (they have Electric Jellyfish) You can tell the pizza dough is made fresh daily and cooked in a real pizza oven. The light, airy, crispyness of the crust balanced by a subtle chewiness Valentinos is probably the most legitimate pizza slice you can get in about 20 miles of San Marcos. Price was fair enough, especially in 2023. $35 for a pizza, soft drink, and mug o beer is a little better than average, but more than worth it. Definitely coming back sooner rather than later. Oh yeah, they had pepperoni cups. Enough said. I probably could have started the review with that and left out the rest.

Valentinos is an institution. For me this establishment holds a lot of memory and a lot of good memories. Its been about 10 years and after a change of management, interior decorum and atmosphere, it is still a wonderful pizza place to get a good pie. Ive been here for lunch, dinner and to pick up doordash orders this year. Every time has been great! Late dinner was a bit crowded but it never felt too tight spacewise. I dont have any specific food recommendations, everything has met or exceeded expectations, just get what sounds good! I will admit I miss the shoddy floorboards and literal hole-in-the-wall vibe from years back, but the redesign feels safer and manages to retain the feeling of a hole-in-the-wall spot without having the actual holes.

Came in for pizza Monday night 7/31 and the restaurant was mostly empty, we sat and waited ten minutes before our server even came over to get drinks it took her even longer to get them for us. We placed our appetizer with our pizza. We asked for extra lemons with our fried artichokes and the glass she brought out was absolutely filthy. It took over 45 minutes for us to get our pizza. She came back one time to half heartily see if we needed anything. The entire time she was at the bar talking to her friends laughing really loud and just generally ignoring paying customers. Its all really unfortunate because the fried artichoke hearts were absolutely fantastic and our pizza was great.

Cooks today either must be having a bad day or something. My Uber eats order: Chicken parb sub, wow this was burnt. Bread was actually black. Not only the bread was black but the chicken it s self was extremely dry and hard like you microwaved a chicken breast for 5 min longer than you should, I couldn t even chew the chicken. field green salad, the salad mix had yellow arugula and BLACK decomposed lettuce.. I got the cheese bread and the veggie sub and I was floored. Most places dont bother with their vegetarian options, but this veggie sub had literally no business being this amazing. I had to keep myself from eating the whole thing in one go so that I could bring it home to my husband (ordered while on lunch at work). My husband could not stop ranting about how amazing this sub was and I cant blame him. Not a single part of anything I ate down to the very obviously fresh and in house made marinara was absolutely fantastic. You can tell they care about every little thing that goes into their food. I have never had a veggie sub this good and this original. The combination of flavors and textures (I dont know where they get the bread, but good God its great)... I cant accurately describe to you how good this tastes. Ive also never had cheesy bread this flavorful and with a crust that well made. Keep it up guys!

Some of the best pizza Ive ever had. Wings were delicious and lots, I mean LOTS, of drink options. Dining room is super clean and laid back. My server was so awesome. She was very friendly and made sure everything was perfect. She is awesome. Cant wait to go back.

Good pizza & even better service. I am the worst & can t remember our bartenders name but I dined yesterday evening. Wendy also stopped by to talk with us & was a delight! The place feels intimate being able to watch them prep dough.

I used to go to this place all the time as a kid. It was a dark dreary room with good pizza. Now the place has been renovated, and it looks absolutely amazing! Also the pizza has remained as delicious as I remembered!

Three stars for the crust! But it was downhill from there. We ordered the Supreme and the sauce was VERY salty. The sausage was an unappealing gray and the carmelized onions didn t work. Our green olives were forgotten entirely. We might try a different pizza just because the crust was great, but the Supreme was a salty miss. As an aside, counter service - where we waited for our pick-up pizza - was uninspired, and the staff missed an opportunity to sell some drinks.

For an iconic pizzeria in San Marcos, this was a huge disappointment. We should ve turned around and walked out after standing inside the door for about 3 1/2 minutes with no recognition or even acknowledgment to sit wherever you like. The waitress was a challenge to understand, mumbling, and the only word she knew, was awesome which we heard at least 8 times. The $24 small pizza was soggy, the $6.50 salad was mediocre and the $9 wine was over priced. Watching the waitress, surf her phone and supervise the folding of boxes with no attention to customers added to the disappointing experience. Should be also noted tables had been cleared of dishes, but obviously had not been wiped. I guess college kids accept anything if the happy hour is cheap.

Ive eaten pizza all over the US and this place is my favorite. I dont know what they do to get that crust, but its perfect--slightly crunchy outside and chewy inside. Yall gotta fix that front door though. Slams your heels like my grams screen door... and its heavier than a screen door.

Valentinos is an old favorite. Im so impressed with the upgrade in the quality of the pizza since the big change over and renovation. The beautiful bar is a definite welcome as you walk in. A group of my friends and I come in almost every other Sunday and we appreciate the new outdoor seating in the cooler months. I do have to say, the poor tables out there are a bit unfortunate. Theyre a bit rickety but the get the job done. I would love to see some shade structure outside for the summer and possibly mounted fans. My current favorite pizza is their pesto pizza. The savory garlic, oil, basil, and cheese are balanced out beautifully with the sweet, fresh, sliced tomatoes baked on top. Cheers to a true San Marcos institution.

Gotta hand it to the staff here - friendly, quick service and attentive. Appetizers fried mushrooms (smoked) & artichokes (a tad salty) crispy and evenly breaded. Smoked - fried garlic parmesan wings. Half margarita half ricotta small pie - good / minimal toppings on pie. Cold beer. Overall would return.

I walked in with my family of four. No one ever acknowledged us. Everyone one walked right past us even made eye contact and just walked away. Wasnt sure where to order or who to ask. Went up to the counter where they were making pizza and asked if there was more seats outside and the cook just sort of nodded. Very strange atmosphere from the staff. Too bad. Really wanted to try the food.

Was so looking forward to the cheese sticks I remembered from years ago. Fluffy, gooey delicious cheesesticks and savory pizza is what I was anticipating. Sadly, my experience was extremely disappointing. The thinnest, most bland tasting pizza ever. Not worth the $60 tab at all. Mentioned my experience to the waitress and she said yeah. It depends on who s cooking . Sad. This place used to be a real gem.
