Came for my sons birthday and everything was extremely fresh and delicious. Loved the sashimi, squid legs, edamame, and my family loved the gyoza and sushi rolls. We came a couple of years ago and it was good, but its way better now! Look forward to coming back!

I have been there 4 times. Once was good, once I dont remember feeling astonished by the food or service, but twice I have left disgusted by the food quality compared to price. Today, I ordered hot and sour soup that I didnt finish because it was spoiled. The california roll was OK, a bit of a smell but edible, but the tempura shrimp roll was an enormous amount of mayonnaise. Gross. When asked about the food, I told the sushi chef I didnt care for the mayo, he said, Sorry about that, and I had to ask for the tempura shrimp to be remade. The roll was served steaming hot next to cucumber, and there was no ginger placed as garnish. Obviously, the last time I will go in there.

Gluten free diners be cautious! I informed our waiter that we needed our sushi plate to be gluten free and to leave off any sauces. We ordered a simple sushi plate. It came with sauce on one of the sushi. I kindly sent it back and they replaced the sushi but I could still see the sauce on the plate. I bit into the California roll and it had tempora flakes which have gluten. Our waiter said he told the sushi chef we were gluten free but they made no changes to the plate. I asked for an avocado roll instead. When we asked about the soup our waiter said all the soup had gluten, he offered us a gluten free fried rice. We said that would be great. The rice never came. When we asked our waiter he said the chef didn t make it bc he didn t ring it in. At this point we said never mind bc everything else had come out wrong. The fish was very fresh tasting. I ve never had trouble getting sushi gluten free before at other places.

NOW: Really disappointed that the new management has let go every single one of the original employees. They were a huge reason the Fri night crowd would always come in, and potentially why the place was empty tonight. WAS: Dear new owner: failure to have enough waitstaff, such that your sushi chef has to start running kitchen food to tables and leaves our sushi ticket sitting for 45 minutes is not a great way to run your new business. Nor is having only one server on a Fri night during the busiest hours. Nor is being out of basics like salad and wine, or changing recipes such as the salad dressing without advising long time patrons with food allergies that your servers know about. Nor is cutting portions to 1/2-2/3 what they used to be, and watering down soups. We will keep coming, for now, because we know you can and will get better. I say this as a restaurant owner (past) myself. Touch base if I can offer advice and support.

Hidden gem in Central Texas. The food is up there with the best in Austin and San Antonio. They have fresh fish shipped almost daily directly from Japan. The staff are amazing and accommodating while making sure you re always taken care of. Their menu selection is huge and their specials are some to the most luxurious rolls for an insane affordable price. This place deserves all the success that they re eventually bound to get. We re here every week because nothing compares to the quality and price that Otsu offers.

This place is terrible we came after a wedding and the food came all out of order. With entrees coming in intervals of 10 minutes and the last one being a fried rice coming 40 minutes after everyone. The waiter neglected our table with only 2 other costumers in the building. No wonder they include tip on the check so there aren t any repercussions for bad service.

Dropped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by how nice this place is! Even though the prior reviews and name have an extensive sushi menu - I wanted something else. The noodles were so good! Nabeyaki Udon - Thick white noodles, fish cake, shrimp tempura & egg in a seafood broth. Whoever fried the shrimp tempura knew exactly how to do it right. It was filling but not too heavy. Broth was great.

I was not too impressed with my visit this time. The staff doesnt know the menu or what is in it. I asked for vegan options and if the fried rice had egg in it. She assured me it is vegan with no eggs, however the rice had eggs in it. The vegetable tempura was unfortunately very bland in taste and watery. The second dish took forever and I was disappointed that the chef used jarred mushrooms in the vegetable teriyaki. Very mushi and bland, as well. This was my second visit, and I really had a good experience the first time I went there.

My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night for our anniversary. We came in and it wasnt as busy as we thought it was. Our waiter basically dismissed us as we were sat and didnt take our order. We were then asked what we wanted to drink by a separate waitress. (Keep in mind not all tables were filled by the time we were sat.) The waiter finally made his way towards us and didnt even make eye contact or acknowledge us. Just simply asked what we wanted and left. We both ordered Egg drop soup and we had saw a table had just been served the same as we were there before them. He then looked at us and shouted egg drop soup right!? We said yes the 10 minutes later we were served our first course. Keep in mind my boyfriend and I are very familiar with the service industry and are very patient when it comes to running orders. It wasnt until it was an hour after we were sat and the other waitress stopped by our table and had asked us what we ordered. I had told her that if it wasnt in the process of it being made that we could leave.. She said No no its being made I just want to clarify. We had told her and she went away to the back. Our original waiter meets us at the table again and asked if we were ready to order and we had let him know that we had already placed it. He also ran to the back and said Oh right its in the process. Several minutes later our waiter met us at the table and apologized for the wait but our rolls have never been in the process but he could start them right now. He then stopped us short and told us What Im trying to say is do you want to leave? I have never been treated this way in a restaurant and I was left disappointed and hungry. I had such high hopes going in as well since my boyfriend had recommended this place as well. I hope others have a better experience.

I had the spicy salmon roll, crunchy crab roll, gyoza, and miso soup. The sauce that came with the gyoza didnt compliment it like I would have liked, but the gyoza itself was tasty. The miso soup was super tasty and fresh. The crunchy crab roll had a bit too much tempura flakes, which I understand is a main focal point of the roll but it was still a bit much even for a crunchy roll. The spicy salmon roll was good, but honestly wasnt very spicy at all. The inside of the restaurant looked very clean and modern, I loved the design. Service was also good, a very relaxed staff. Overall the experience was good.

Being new to San Marcos, I thought my sushi days were gone, as San Antonio is now quite far to drive to, where my favourite sushi is Goros. Otsu Asian Bistro has the Freshest fish available sake was amazing my friend and I had Shasimi lunch special and Otsu tray and of course, my signature smoked eel shasimi and something quite surprising to me, fresh wasabi ( came automatically without having to ask ) and a secret surprise prepared by an amazing sushi chef, seared tuna Otsu style

While I love this place and its sister location, I was not impressed with my togo meal tonight. The tempura was undercooked on the inside, gyoza were stone cold and I was a little sad to see that the tempura upon that typically comes with 2 shrimp and 2 crab was 1 shrimp and 2 veggies. The gyoza were not the pork ones that I have had at this location before, but instead chicken and veggies, and they did not taste like the fresh ones I had a week ago at this location. Im really let down and while I know things are crazy right now and this does not sway my love for these locations, it needs to be brought to someones attention.
