The food was horrible. We had to leave after the first round of old meat was served! We ordered the platinum and got I dont know what kind of meat as filet mignon it looked like a thin slice of cheap old beef for sir fry. We had to pay 70.00 for barely eating any of it. We were really looking forward to this dinner and I really was excited to try hot pot. I dont think Ill ever have it now. They took a long time to decide to charge us half price. I am grateful we didnt pay the full price at least . I really just want to cry, this was supposed to be a once a month eating out dinner for us. I have a tip for everyone eating out, if the appetizer tastes bad, leave then, dont keep trying to make it work or youll end up hungry and short a whole lotta money. The sushi conveyer belt tasted like it had been riding on that belt since yesterday. Now I have to go heat my leftovers at home. The staff was nice though. Very good people I hate to leave this review for them because the waitress was very kind. The door greater was very friendly. The manager seemed to be empathetic and receptive. I hope they turn it around. Sorry guys

I am going to be harsh on this one because our expectations were so high we really were disappointed. First off, the location is sketchy, blackout windows in a small street behind a pan shop. Then the food is just not good. We went for lunch and pick platinum which has hotpot. The meat served for the hot pot were not good cuts, very lean and freezer burn. The veggies and dry food bar has very limited choices. Lastly the bill came out to be really pricey for the overall quality, service and offering. I know there is not a lot of choice down south but just take a drive to Austin if you want hotpot or sushi. This is not a good place.

Me and my wife went here for an evening out. It was very delightful as the cherry blossom trees were a great addition to the decor. Service was excellent, and the conveyor belts were unique and fun to get your food off. The chance to try many different types of sushi was a big bonus. Good food and fun.

I absolutely love coming here! I typically get the all you can eat sushi, but I have also gotten hibachi in the past and both are absolutely amazing! I recommend this place to all my friends and anytime my family comes to visit I take them out to eat here. While the sushi is a little expensive at face value, if youre like me and tend to like bigger portions- its definitely worth it! I also love the green tea ice cream!

Sakura was great from the get-go. Then, they said, hold my beer and did a revamp/remodel. The result was kind of like stepping up to the plate, bottom of the 9th, down by 3, bases loaded and hitting a grand slam. Now, Sakura is a one-stop shop (restaurant) for all your Asian cuisine cravings. Only problem is I now have the added challenge of making a decision when I walk in; sushi, Hibachi, hot pot, Korean bbq...there all fantastic! Theres also all-you-can-eat options. And, unlike kobe steak house and sushi, Ive never once gotten sick from Sakura. Last but not least, if you like a wait staff person who knows all the menus, isnt over-bearing/pushy, is helpful but also lets you relax and enjoy a delicious meal, ask for Mitch. Thank you Sakura for choosing San Marcos and keep doing what youre doing.

To start, the wait staff were great. Very nice, food came quick, wasnt really any more expensive than I would expect for sushi. However, the sushi sucked. I cant speak to the rest of the food, but the sushi was awful. I think its the rice, and it was weird and had flavors sushi just isnt supposed to have. Unless something changes (and I hope it does, they were nice people), I wouldnt get their sushi, and I wouldnt let my friends get their sushi.

Do not come here if you re looking for good service. Some of the tables are useless, they don t work. Our server got us raw meat in a plate with no utensils or extra plate to eat it in after we cook. Didn t even get a tong to be able to cook the meat. Server barely came to check on us. We wasted an hour just waiting. Ended up not eating anything and left. Still had to pay. I was disappointed and embarrassed. I invited some out of town friends to join me here because I ve always loved this place. I hadn t been in since the remodel and didn t know how much things had changed! Thankfully, the wait staff is still great though. The food was not the superior food I was used to. Our fried foods tasted like they were cooked in old oil, but they assured us it wasn t. Due to the remodel, which is very cool, they decided to remodel their menu and prices. I understand that we are all dealing with inflation, but the price for the value seemed pretty insane this time around. So we each paid for our own and the lowest bill was $53 for one person on a Thursday night. The hot pot was ok, but because we were worried about getting charged extra for not finishing everything we ended up not really able to try everything we wanted to try. The best thing I ate was the green tea ice cream so that isn t saying much. The all you can eat is now set up in tiers, and honestly, it s probably not worth getting anything above the bottom tier. They brought so much broth and meat with the hot pot that you end up filling up on that and not having much room for anything else. If I return again I will definitely order differently. Sadly, I doubt I ll even bother. Vegetarian options: They did have some items that were clearly marked vegetarian and of course tofu and veggies. Kid-friendliness: The ambiance is pretty chill, but you probably wouldn t want to bring a small child with you if you are doing the hot pot. Wheelchair accessibility: It seemed fairly accessible, but I didn t go in the bathroom.

Only complaint is the lids that cover the sushi on the sushi train go from cooks hands, to customers hands, to the train belt and then the dirty/used lids go right back on top of sushi that s coming out. That is gross and can cause cross contamination. Please start washing your lids.

This is the oddest place I ve ever eaten. The food is ok. The hot pot concept is cool but the grill is basically awful. We have to move seats twice due to the grills not working. The service was also pretty bad. Also, the room temperature sushi conveyor belt is a neat idea. I know this place was recently renovated so most of this is probably just working out kinks in their system. Bottom line: while the food was ok and the atmosphere was unique, the detractors massively overshadow both. I would not eat here again.

I used to love this place. Since the renovation, the price went up about $10 per person. I wouldnt mind if the conveyor belt was stocked, but there are time you have to wait a while for anything to come out and its not as good as it used to be. Sometimes dishes will be missing ingredients. Total for 2 dinning with only water and the minimum tip will cost over $70. It is no longer worth going to in my opinion.

I honestly dont understand the good overall rating. In order to avoid the risk of getting only left overs from the sushi train, I decided to go with the Diamond all you can eat option. Means I could order the BEST of what the restaurant apparently has to offer. Here is a list of what Ive tried and how Id rate it: Premium Australian Lamb: quite good. Ribeye: Id rather get a proper steak next time. Good meet but very thin. Terriyaki beef: the only thing Ive really enjoyed. Bulgogi Pork: way too salty marinade... and this from a person who loves it salty. Lemon Scallops: Also very good, but why do they cut them in little pieces? But at least they tasted good. => meet in general quite good, but not worth the 50$. Sushi was an absolute disappointment. Horrible. No flavour, the crunchy roles only tasted like the fat they were fried in, the tempura shrimp looked like chicken but I couldnt figure out if it was chicken or a shrimp, because it only tasted like frying oil. So if those are considered the premium rolls, I dont want to know what the normal ones are like. I had the following 4 and can not recommend them: Live Eel Role, Spicy rainbow roll, surfer roll and tuna dream. I will definitely never come back.

Update 4/10/24: they have either a new chef or new owner. New decorations all over. The sushi ordered to the table is much higher quality now. The belt sushi is still really basic and often mostly empty. The nigiri was thick and fresh. The premium rolls were packed with fresh fish. Only bad part is the pricing is hard to understand. We ate at the gold level but had one appetizer from the platinum so basically paid an extra $27 dollars for crab rangoons. If youre just there for sushi then most should be just fine with the Gold package.

Save your money. My partner and I came here to try the hot pot. $39 a person for all you can eat. However, while the broth was good, the meat tasted like it had been frozen for a year - grainy and freezer burnt. Shrimp came out with hair on it. Hot pot burners kept malfunctioning, and management didnt seem too concerned that I had to move twice just to get my food to heat up. Nothing was comped, and after tipping our waitress, the bill was over $100. The sushi and greens on the green bar looked like they were sitting out for a long time. Food took a good while to come out. The waitress was super kind, but that was the only positive. This was our first visit and we wont be returning. Not at all worth the price.

Kore was wonderful, as always. She s by far one of your best servers, and Mitchell is too. Genuinely everyone who has waited on us in the 4-ish months that we ve been coming regularly have all created such positive experiences. Kore is our favorite, though, with Mitchell as a very close second. They re polite, consistent, pay your table close attention, friendly, and everything you d want in good wait staff. We also love that the restaurant is constantly improving the menu and options for the hot pot bar. We ll be continuing to come here as long as we can.

My family had a great experience. The staff was wonderful, the food tasted delicious, my kids were entertained by the chef, and the price was perfect. My only dislike was the bathroom. Overall, great experience, and well definitely be back. Kid-friendliness: My kids had a great time, they gave them special chopsticks, and even let them keep them!

This was our second time visiting and we were hoping for a better experience than the first. The idea is great, but they never have enough sushi on the belt so if youre in the one section of the restaurant its all lids by the time it reaches you which leaves you having to order full rolls. They have signs saying to keep your dining time to 90 minutes, but you wait so long to get the things you ordered and theres nothing on the conveyer belt so youre just sitting there most of the time. This time was a similar experience to the first and the sushi wasnt that great so we will just stick to Kobe since both times at Sakura we have had to order full rolls anyways.

my boyfriend and i visited this place for the first time yesterday for a late valentines date and oh my gosh it was the best hibachi experiences i ve ever had!! we left another place after they were only offering to seat us with a random family of eight and came here in hopes of something a little more personal and sakura delivered. our server was amazing very attentive and friendly and fired up the blacktop just for my boyfriend and i. we ordered the crab rangoons, sashimi, and spicy edamame and the plate presentation was beautiful and the taste was top notch!! when the chef came out we were even more impressed after talking for a bit we found out he was the owner!?! you don t get that kind of interaction just anywhere and it made my boyfriend and i feel special! the food is amazing i ordered the teriyaki chicken and my boyfriend ordered the filet. id give it 6 stars if i could and we will definitely be back!! thank you so much for our awesome experience sakura!!
