Homey country brewery in a beautiful setting and wood vaulted building. The downstairs bar is below loft seating and looks out on covered patio tables and a rambling back yard of picnic areas and cacti. I enjoyed a flight, and their pecan bock is one of central Texasbest beers. Picturesque surroundings, crisp beers, and friendly staff.

We hosted a private event upstairs, and it was the perfect spot for about 15 people to mingle while sipping beer and feasting on their exceptional paints. The beer is unique without being unapproachable (Im looking at you Jester King). Service is friendly and theres a ton of outdoor space under the oaks.

Its just the best place, I am torn between not wanting other people to find out about it but also wanting it to succeed, it is just such a special place. A place you can truly relax and unwind not overly crowded, you feel taken care of with all the hospitality touches. The food is incredible I hear great things about the beer (sadly never developed a taste for beer myself) but have great NA options or wine and cider! All together its our families favorite place to be! Also the fireworks show on Tx independence day unreal and the Texas playlist that played that evening superb!

Plenty of tables, a stage, fire pit and a nice play area for the kiddos. Plenty of shady spots for a warm day. We were there during a cold snap so the fire pit was nice. This was a great place! Only drank one flight while there. The Ginger beer was great! It has upstairs seating with TV and first floor seating I side near bar plus a great outdoor patio. Such a pretty place outside. Nice bartenders. Outdoor TV under a covered patio. It was a creepy drive, way out in the boonies but well worth the trip. UPDATE 6/2023: we were in the San Marcos area and I made the trek with my hubby this time. We werent impressed with the beer this time but the pastrami sandwich was excellent! Bought a $4 chocolate chip cookie; it wasnt the best Ive had but not the worst either. Still love this place for the outside area. Oh, there was an acoustic performer on the patio! Hot day, 104.

A better selection of drink options for non-drinkers other than root beer and seltzer water would have been nice too. I chose the nachos and wasn t disappointed, and enjoyed their tasty beer selection! The atmosphere is great with plenty of room outside to enjoy your visit or listen to the performances that evening. There is a spot for kids to play as well. Dog friendly like most places.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting an incredibly cool establishment in San Marcos, and let me tell you, its definitely worth adding to your travel itinerary. The food is simply delicious, and the beers are a real treat, especially since theyre brewed in-house. Not to mention, the outdoor seating and heaters make it a great place to cozy up and enjoy a meal or a pint, even on chilly evenings. But thats not all - this place really knows how to keep things interesting, with regular music events that create a lively and entertaining atmosphere. And if youre a stargazing enthusiast, youre in for a real treat, because the night sky in San Marcos is simply breathtaking. As someone who hails from New York, the opportunity to see stars like this was truly the highlight of my trip. All in all, this spot is a true gem in San Marcos, and a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great food, delicious beer, and a lively atmosphere. I cant recommend it enough!

We had our rehearsal lunch for our wedding at Roughhouse Brewing and it was a huge success! Roughhouse was a breath of fresh air during our whole wedding planning process. They executed the entire event in-house with minimal planning from us. They proposed a great menu (BBQ, which our guests loved) and arranged even the small things like food labels and a curated list of beverages for our guests that we chose from their main menu. On the day of, the food was great, the beer was great, the service was great couldn t have been easier! They also welcomed our guests to stay beyond the end time of the private event reservation, leading to many more hours of enjoyment in their lovely outdoor space. Thank you Victoria and Roughhouse!

We almost did not drive out to this new brewery but I was very glad we did. The outside area is awesome and very dog friendly. They have a great stage setup and a musician was just setting up. With the layout you could be closer or farther from the music so you could enjoy it but still hold a conversation. The beers are mostly farmhouse style which I love and the pour huge tasters so if you get flights with every beer just finishing them is a challenge. There was not a beer I did not like and I can not wait to come back out in cooler weather where the patio area will be even better then it was. They did have good shade and fans so even in Texas hot summer weather is was pleasant. We also sampled several of the food items they had and everything was delicious. I especially loved the smoked grilled pimento cheese sandwich.

If you go, you need to turn on Oakwood Loop as if you were going to Middleton but just keep going down Oakwood Loop for about a mile and you will see it on your right. The place has lots of seating under large Oak trees. I was there around 2 in the afternoon and there was a great band playing and some people were playing cornhole. There was a kids area as well. The atmosphere was super relaxing and the people were very friendly. I like it better then any of the other area brewerys.

Lovely place. The hubby had been wanting to go there for a long time. Impeccable service astoundingly smooth beer (we got the flight and its the first time Ive ever enjoyed every single one). The lamb sausage taco slapped. Need I say more?

A stellar brewery putting out some of my favorite beers. Their Treeform Farmhouse IPA is fantastic. Very nice drive out to this brewery. Drive Devils Backbone and make this pit stop on your way back. Make sure to take a few beers to go

I always love spending the afternoon here. Great spot to bring the kids or not. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Great beers on tap and they try some inventive things which I like. Beautiful outdoor space.

Park-like setting, nice place to sit outside on porch or several pavilions, and have a custom brew and sandwich. Live music, kids play area, lots of space with landscaped pathways. Great queso dip!

This place is awesome! Welcoming and knowledgeable staff, excellent beer and great food. The grounds were well spaced out and comfortable and they had a little play area for the kids. The only thing I would change would be the addition of a kids menu, but all the kids liked what we ordered them, so mute point I suppose. Overall, everything was so so good - will definitely be back next time were in the area.

This is my favorite place to go for drinks in the San Marcos area, hands down. Their beer is top notch and its a great atmosphere. You cant hear the highway so you really feel like youre just out in nature, its really relaxing.

Hidden gem! Awesome country feel with ample outdoor seating. The beers are great tasting farmhouse ales that you can sample with a 4-taster flight or go for the full glass. They have a good selection for snacks .

Great little texas brewery in the hill country that has a great outdoor space, set up for live music, kid friendly, and a decent menu. I had the lamb sandwich with pimento. Good pimento cheese here. The pickled veggies arent what i was expecting but all the other foods were yummy.

Great little brewery with a beautiful outdoor seating area in a grove of young oaks. Plus bonus points for an awesome kids play area with Rockwall. Also one of the best brewery food menus I ve seen. The seasonal salad and tacos were tasty. Reminds of a smaller, more easy going version of Jester King with better food.

This place is excellent! The venue is spectacular. Especially in good weather. Just a great place to chill. You can tell they work hard to keep it in great shape, inside and out. The beer is fantastic. Especially the Dark Horse saison. I highly recommend it! The food was excellent as well. Every thing was very flavorful. I was exceptionally impressed with the staff. Everyone was fantastically friendly and helpful. Our service was prompt. We also really appreciated how serious they took health and safety, especially COVID-19 precautions. My only complaint would be the lack of beer to go. Because we really wanted that Dark Horse to come home with us. We are not from the area, but this place will always be a stop when in the area.

We went on a Friday night, but it was not very busy. It could be that there was no live music that night. There was a nice selection of beer...the kombucha and cider were a pleasant surprise. The food was quite good and not super expensive (for how fancy the place felt).
