This is such a cool little spot. It s walking distance to Hemisfair and has great views of the tower. It s a quaint restaurant with a few tables. We ordered a bunch of tapas and everything was absolutely amazing. The service was so friendly (they greeted us like old friends) but was a little slow so I ll keep that in mind when I go back.

Hola Tapas is a gem! Before eating there, many of the reviews said it was Texass idea of tapas, but that wasnt true at all. Its a genuine tapas restaurant with great selections. Our server, Marco, was really good and knew all about the food and wine there. Speaking of wine, the list is short but has several excellent Spanish wines available. We found a nice Rioja at an excellent price point. Great food, casual atmosphere, good service and surprisingly good wine. Thinking about tapas in San Antonio? Try Hola, you wont be disappointed.

I really enjoyed eating here. The portions are a good size, there s good variety on the menu, and each plate has a few different tastes on it. The plates are a good price, which makes for a great value. Update3: Added the tuna tartar and gyoza/dumplings to the list of things tried, both new menu items. Both are good for 1-2 people, but the gyoza could be stretched to 3. Generally, I like to see something more exciting than tuna tartar and gyoza, but the execution is still quite good and price points are holding good value. I m sad to see that the beet salad has been removed from the menu. Update2: This time around I ve order the beet salad and asparagus again. Both are good for 1-2 people. Beef skewers were amazing and enough for 1-2 people. Cooked well and great flavors with the olive oil and seasonings. I also tried the escargot and loved it as well, enough for 3-4 people to have a few bites to eat, otherwise its a good option for 1-2 people. I ve had both the bread pudding and the truffles and the truffles are by far the better choice and value if you re undecided. Update: I ve come back on another work trip and wanted to try all new plates this time. The food is still amazing and worth the (very) reasonable price point. The sangria was refreshing as well and not overly sweet.

Some of the worst tapas I ve ever had. The flavors just did not go together. I was highly disappointed because the reviews were so high. The empanada filling was not good. The cheese on some of the tapas tasted and looked like those yellow square American cheese slices and nacho cheese? Just no. Quality of ingredients are bad. These do not taste like tapas. Service wasn t good either. Was very thirsty and the waitress wouldn t come to my table because she was too busy talking to the other staff about who knows what.

I ordered the shrimp al ajo ... and the Avacado stuffed with shrimp salad. The gambos al ajo were the best Ive had! Ive been to Spain and these are even better! The house sangria was delish -- strong on vermouth and that is how the Spaniards do it! Service was excellent and I definitely will come back! Bravo!

Our family of 3 went for dinner and we couldn t get over how amazing this place is. Our server was incredible. He recommended some dishes and we were so happy with them. We had a total of 9 dishes including 2 desserts and a carafe of sangria, and our total pre tip was less than $100. For the quality of the dishes here, I would expect to pay nearly 2 times that. Our favorite dishes were the chicken buco, crispy pork belly and scallops. We were visiting San Antonio, but we ll always make it a point to come back to Hola every time we visit. Fantastic Tapas! My wife and I visited on a Friday night for her birthday. The weather was nice, so we sat on the patio and enjoyed the live electric violinist. Parking is a bit of a challenge, try to avoid the $15+ parking by parking on the street. The menu was a diverse collection of fusion dishes from around the globe. The price was reasonable and our waiter, Gene, was one of the best servers Ive ever had. He was helpful, kind, and full of joy. The Nutella Churros was an excellent finale to our most excellent dinner. A+ & 5-Stars!

Love this place! We came in on a weekend night and were hoping to get a table on their patio. We ended up sitting inside because they told us they had a bunch of people came in all at the same time and there was going to be a wait for outside. They seemed to have a pretty small staff. Despite all that, we have no complaints. We were glad to sit inside and get to watch them work in the kitchen. Our server was fantastic, obviously stretched a bit thin but they were attentive despite this and checked on us often. Great wine list and enjoyed the sangria. Loved the huge variety of tapas and everything we tried was delicious. We ordered way too many plates for two people and left wanting to try the things we didnt order.

The food was outstanding! I went here with my husband and his colleague and we just loved all of the tapas that we got. We tried the beet and feta salad, olives, escargot, mussels, empanadas, beef kabobs and beef carpacchio. My favorite hands-down was the escargot and beet and feta salad. You wouldnt expect a mere salad to knock your socks off, but boy did it do just that! The flavor was amazing. I would recommend all of the tapas we tried, except the beef carpacchio and beef kabobs - there was too much caeser-type sauce with the carpacchio and overwhelmed the meat, and the kabobs were a little tough to bite into. Despite that, they were still good, just underwhelming. Overall, would definitely return here, food and atmosphere were great.

They have a good variety of beer and wine, a nice seating area on the patio and a quaint area inside. The food was amazing. We tried the charred cauliflower, which was served with a delicious sauce. Flat bread was amazing! Crab cake served over greens with a wonderful dressing, but the piece de resistance was the Pulpo Plato Fuerte, OMG....octopus was tender, gently charred, served with asparagus, baby golden potatoes, with chichurri sauce. This place is delicious. No doubt about it. The flavors are all there. The portions are pretty small. Ive been to tapas places both in and out of the states and Ive got to say the Cajun chicken bites were almost pitiful. Tapas are meant to be shared and theres no way they expect someone to share that. The chorizo meatballs stole the show though. I couldve just ordered 3 sets of those and been very happy. Also had a bit of an issue where the price of the beer I ordered did not match what was on the menu. It was only off by a dollar but it should say the right thing. It calls the entire menu into question when things like that happen. In addition to that, the online menu doesnt match whats actually in the restaurant. So dont get too excited with what you see online. Use the pictures that people have posted. What is the point of having a website if you wont keep it up to date? All things considered, it was a good meal.

We watched another couple just give up and leave because they had been waiting so long. Once we did order we waited another 10 minutes then had to remind them that we had ordered wine. Once we got the wine and food it was delicious, but we did have to wait another 5 minutes for utensils after the food was served. As an excuse we were told they were super busy, but only half the tables on the patio were filled and the interior of the restaurant was empty.

Great place! We loved the paella and the patatas a la plancha. We also loved the asparagus, but because they are tapas, we thought the serving (5 asparagus sticks) was too little for the price. I don t think it was even a serving, but it was delicious. The sangria also quenched our thirst. The waiter was pleasant and courteous. We will definitely go back, we ll just not get the asparagus again.

For the food, this could be my new favorite restaurant in all of San Antonio! Everything was delicious and well seasoned. We tried the charred cauliflower, flatbread, bravas potatoes, Cajun chicken, crab cake, and bread pudding. The best of the best was definitely the cauliflower and flatbread. I could eat a whole loaf of that flatbread. Next time, I d skip the chicken and bread pudding. There are so many options I wanted to try, it was hard to chose! The atmosphere was laid back and sensual. The service is very laid back and not overbearing. I love being able to share food with the whole table. Definitely try this place out!!

Just a little walk off of the tourist trail makes a BIG difference. This is a tapas restaurant. Don t expect tacos or cheesy burritos. Just delicious food with a Mexican flavor profile. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The server went to their sister restaurant next door to get me an ice tea because they don t carry it. The atmosphere is laid back, but still refined. Loved it! Will revisit when we return to San Antonio!

Everything from the service, to the atmosphere, and of course, the food, was exceptional! Our server Marcos (I hope I remembered his name right!) and his assistant were beyond attentive and charming. We shared the crab cakes, escargot, martini olives, pinchos de carne, scallops, cauliflower, empanadas, patatas bravas, and the dessert sampler. Everything was so delicious, we had a hard time deciding which was our favorite! The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy, with great artwork on the walls. Everything was a 10 out of 10. Good beer selection and great food. Tried 3 tapas: setas al ajillo, pinchos de carne and ahi tuna tartare. The tuna was excellent, the pinchos were good (a bit undercooked for me) and the setas were delicious but they tasted like regular mushrooms and not setas (regardless they were my favorite ). For dessert I tried a chocolate truffle that was amazing! I sat at the bar and the staff was super friendly. Will return to try more tapas, all seemed delicious!

Fantastic! Enjoyed a private Fiesta party there and was blown away by the freshness and flavors of all that was served. My favorite was the Seafood Paella. The Sangria was quite refreshing and tasty. Tapas were reasonably priced and Antonio provided us with excellent service. There is parking streetside and a small lot adjacent and also a pay to park lot just steps away. It is located across the street from the Battalion. Im glad that this restaurant is so close so tourists can walk to it and downtown city employees can enjoy happy hour in a nice chic place. However, we were confused as to what door was the front door when we got there & the service was quite slow times.. also the online menu & in person menu don t match. There were things we wanted to try from the online menu, but they were not featured on the menu we were given & I noticed that the prices from online to in person did not match either.. I highly recommend the glazed pork belly, baked goat cheese & the escargot they were the standout dishes we had!

Less then a year in business and the place is Dead on the Vine... Absolutely the WORST restaurant experience weve ever had. The managing partner and his son/ nephew Tony, were confrontational from the moment we walked in. 14 patio seating with only 3 tables occupied, and an empty bar on a Friday nite, should have been our first clue. When we first walked in we were turned away... told: you dont have a reservation We left, then looked up if there were any reservations available on Google. There was... plenty of openings. My Wife really wanted to try this place, so we made one for next available... which was immediate, then walked back in... Reservations were wide open on a Friday nite. Nothing was reserved for the entire evening. So we gave it a try anyway... Unfortunately, it just got worse from there. Tony our waiter started arguing with me when he delivered our drinks about their reservation policy, then continued to yell at us from across the patio making a spectical of the situation... when he wouldnt stop with his outbursts, we got up to leave. As we Walked out, Tony continued to berate us and made an even bigger scene. Unprofessional is an understatement! If he wasnt family, any other establishment would have walked him out the door! We get it... Running a restaurant is hard work. Weve worked in the industry. But clearly there is a deeper rooted frustration happening at this place. And from what we witnessed, it starts with the managing partner. Apparently we are not the first, or the last to deal with this Reservations issue. Even though we did as they demanded, and made one! Google Reviews shows 10 - 1 star reviews regarding the way they deal with customers/reservations... this one now makes 11 to date. We will NEVER go back! I never write bad reviews... but based on how we were treated, and in discovering we arent the first to experience this type of behavior from the staff... my guess is this place will probably be closed with the next year! Bottom line: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY here! This place isnt worth it!

I find myself leaving here with very mixed feelings. Nothing was bad by any means, but things werent overwhelming great either. I dont live in SA, so this will most likely be my only visit- if I lived here Id go back and try more things but as a visitor Id probably prefer to try other spots. I love tapas for the opportunity to try multiple dishes without leaving miserably full- so I was excited to find this place near my hotel. It was a slow weeknight, service was fine (not great, but not bad by any means). I felt the amount of protein on each plate was a bit skimpy, but the proteins themselves were very tasty. Had the beet salad also, again felt the main ingredient could have been more prevalent but it was still good. Since I was by myself, the portion size wasnt a big issue, but if I was attempting to share, I would have been very disappointed. I will say, my favorite of the night was the Natilla- save room for it! Parking was a bit confusing for me (again if I lived here, this might not be an issue) so that put me in a weird head space of wanting to make sure my vehicle wasnt being towed. But that could happen in any city- so its not a negative on the business itself.

For a tapas place in San Antonio, Hola! has great food and a nice ambience. UNFORTUNATELY, our party was serviced by an unprofessional waiter by the name of Tony. However, we do not plan to come back or recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Entertaining friends and was looking for a new friendly place and came across this dive on South Alamo. It was called Hola so I assumed it would be welcoming. I was a bit delayed joining my friends, as I was trying to figure out the convoluted parking fees downtown, but Once I joined my party, the host/owner (?) at Hola passed judgement on one of our party female members who had to go to the restroom badly. Rather than say Hola, The guy kept asking whether we had a reservation? This place does not require a reservation from what I can tell. Others in my party kept insisting to him that we were there to be patrons to their establishment but that we were waiting on the others to join us. Rather than becoming more hospitable, the guy kept asking whether we had reservations. I never leave bad reviews but the yahoo we met this evening needs lessons on hospitality. The name should not be Hola but more like Que Quires . As we were leaving he kept insisting that we needed reservations. He pointed to a sign in the window that said restroom for customers only. I get it. But to treat patrons as potential non-patrons? Opposite of an entrepreneurial establishment.
