I liked it, but my wife wasnt a huge fan. The worst part is that the tacos we ordered were fine, but the really knock your socks off one was definitely a taco we didnt order, so I wouldnt even know what to order if I went back.

One of the cooler taco places in San Antonio. They have a variety of unusual tacos. The onlybteasin i dont give them a 5, is because all of their items are consistently heavy handed on the spice. If you cant take the heat, be certain to ask if you can get a version of what you are ordering that is less spicy, (I dont think some things may be that please to change). Buy all of the food is excellent!

My daughter and I went to velvet taco on Sept 4. We ordered the $14 deal. Which should be $14x2=28 plus 8.125%tax rate is $30.31. We did not leave tip since we ordered at counter. Yet now I see my credit card was charged $35.36. Where did the extra $5.05 come from? I tried to dispute with cc company but I don t have my receipt.

I heard about this place before and unbeknownst to me I was not that far away from a night out and couldn t have been happier coming! The food, service and atmosphere were wonderful and splendid. Stayed till even after closing bc of good convo and wasn t rushed in any way. Staff is courteous and provide good choices and know the food items well. Had the red velvet cake with cajeta and it was delish!

We stopped here on a whim, and Im glad we did. The service was friendly, the guys was unique and tasty, and the special for 2 tacos, and a drink was not cheap but a good deal. We look forward to going again! Vegetarian options: I had the fried cauliflower taco... Very tasty, and there were several other good options Kid-friendliness: Some of the options might have been too exotic for some kids, but youll be able to find something for them... my husband and i stopped by here for the first time after a trip to the zoo. i tried the puffy chicken taco and the korean pork taco, both were freaking delicious, and my husband got the buffalo chicken taco and the chimichurri steak taco and he said the buffalo chicken was amazing. we tried the classic guac with their blue corn tortilla chips and vibes were great, place was clean and staff were efficient and nice. overall, would definitely recommend!

This place really wowed my husband and I. You go in, you order at a register. Kind of like a fast food type deal. We got alcoholic beverages (margarita and a mule). The alcoholic beverages are strong and delicious. Then we got an elote guacamole. And six tacos. First off we sat outside after their lunch rush ( a little dirty but didn t mind). All employees were super nice and the food came out super quick. The photos speak for themselves. These tacos were FRESH. As someone who cooks the only thing I can say about these tacos is that, someone (chef, management, owner, etc )put thought into the construction and flavor of these tacos. What a great experience.

The tacos were so amazing I had to go back again! The sangria is to die for! Im in love with the Spicy Tikka Chicken and the Buffalo chicken taco.. but the Kobe burger is so delicious and the puffy taco is the most incredible combination of everything. the tacos are delicious, they come with veggies that really take the tacos to the next level! the blue corn chips with queso are very filling and are definitely my favorite appetizer. they are well known for their red velvet cake! i have a small stomach and do not have a sweet tooth so it took me and 2 others to finish one slice, they are very fair sized slices and the service is excellent, they provide you with all the napkins and utensils and anything else you need!

This is THE PLACE Everytime we are near a VT, its time to make a stop. The Brisket Nachos (with extra brisket) are my gluten-friendly go to, along with either the curry cheese dip or the elotes. Delicious across the board with a wide variety of options to satisfy any favor combination you could ask for. I also love that they can be fairly accommodating by altering some dishes to be GF. We stopped here for a quick (and affordable) lunch after a visit to the Pearl Market. This place hit the spot! We got the Korean fried rice, taco, chimichurri, steak, taco, the Mexican shrimp, taco, and the kids steak taco. With a side of Elote and chips. We also got a swirl margarita and a pineapple mule The tacos were very creative and had delicious infusions! My son really liked his taco, especially because it came with tater tots. Also, the staff was very friendly & the food came out fast. Even though this was a quick stop for us, we will be coming back!

Went for lunch and everything was tasty and the restaurant was clean I ordered the mexi-cali taco and another shrimp taco with a side of cilantro rice as a combo. The rice wasnt very packed in and it was sorta bland. The tacos were very good! The price before tip for the two tacos, side and self serve soft drink was about $16 after tax. Definitely a place to eat every once in awhile. Kid-friendliness: There was a childrens menu.

Im a fan of fishy tacos and the fish and chips one was a take I hadnt seen before and it was well thought out. We had such a great experience at Velvet Taco. The service was excellent. They were not too busy so we ordered right away and got our food quickly. My husband ordered two of their steak tacos. I had the Kona burger and Birria tacos. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a lively and fun vibe. The person who called my name for my order announced Randi, its taco time. Loved it. Well definitely be back!

Delicious tacos! The vegetarian ones were amazing. I got the #4 Nashville hot tofu and #6.5 Beer battered cauliflower. I d give the tofu one a 9/10 as the pickles were not the tastiest. The cauliflower one would be a 8.5/10 as I just didn t love the flavor as much. I d certainly do two tofu tacos next time. My husband got the #9 Queso birria duo and the #11.5 Chimichurri steak. The birria would be 7/10 as the dipping sauce was extremely liquidy (making it hard to dip) and it lacked flavor. The steak would be 9/10 as the meat was just a bit, too, chewy. Next time he would go for the birria taco again and something else to further explore the menu. I also signed up for the rewards and received a free queso and chips for linking my card. I ordered my food to go. There wasnt a line on Monday evening and it wasnt crowded while I waited for my food to be prepared. I enjoyed looking at all of the wall art since I had never been here before. My food was prepared quickly and the staff were all very friendly. We ve been here a bunch of times. Last night was special, different. Lorena was working the cash register and the level of care and attention she gave to the work, and her compassion for the customers, made me think she must have been the manager or somehow a franchise owner. She was not either of those, but I m sure she will be one day. Treat this one right upper management, and you l have a store manager. Treat her wrong, and someone else will have the benefit of her passion for service. As usual, everything was great. A couple of wrinkles allowed Lorena to shine as she ironed them out. Anyway, like I said, we come here semi-regularly, and we d have been back anyway. Maybe we get lucky and Lorena is working again next time

It is less-common for people to post reviews on fast food restaurants, but Velvet Taco is different. It is fast food with service and atmosphere that are second-to-none. Today, Colin F was our server and he greeted us upon entry. We were really impressed with how polite and respectful he was. We likely took a little longer than most to choose three (Kobe beef, Korean chicken, and the third one - I can t remember) among the 23 varieties of tacos on the menu and Colin was very helpful in guiding us to a decision. He then personally delivered our food to our outdoor table and then checked on us to see how we were enjoying our dining experience and if there was anything more that he could do. When was the last time you received that kind of service at a fast food restaurant? The tacos themselves were handmade with very-fresh ingredients and were incredibly delicious! We sat outside in the shade of a beautiful large tree, overlooking the River Walk and honestly thought that life just doesn t get better than this! As we returned our taco holders and were about to exit, the staff made eye contact and thanked us for coming - and genuinely meant it. What a positive dining experience. Highly recommend!

Not street tacos, but more premium tacos. The menu is vast in its selections, depending on your protein. And to top it off, an iced or frozen margarita. My go-to is ALWAYS: Chicken and Waffle Taco Kobe Burger Taco There always music playing and the optional outdoor seating by the RiverWalk is a plus. Parking: There is free parking right outside. There is about 10 spots (I think). And there is metered parking on the side. Parking is pretty much always available. Kid-friendliness: Cool for the kiddos!

Nestled near the newly developed Creamery area and almost within walking distance from the historic Pearl, this restaurant boasts a great location. Parking is easy, and there are plenty of places to walk around. You order your food at the counter, and they call your name when its ready for pickup. They also offer alcoholic beverages. The ambiance is inviting, with spacious seating arrangements. The patio, overlooking the River Walk, is a great feature.

At this point Estefania remembers my order and my name as soon as i walk kn the door. Edit 2024: Ignore the comments below about heat level of the Cuban taco; I ordered it a second time and there was no heat to it. I think a line cook just screwed up sauces. Upgraded from 4 to 5 stars. Original: ----------------------------------------- Some of the tacos have contents that just dont belong in tacos or the spice levels they give them, but even then theyre still good - they just dont belong in a tortilla. I recommend the cali-mex and brisket tacos, avoid the Cuban; its spicy while a true Cuban sandwich definitely is not. The flavors of a Cuban sandwich dont work with the level of spice they give it IMO. The Cali-mex taco is similarly spicy and is fantastic. The spice level just doesnt fit what Id expect from a Cuban sandwich themed taco. I wouldnt be disappointed if they dropped the pickles and told me it was a spicy pulled pork taco. Other than that, I definitely recommend it. Vegetarian options: They have 4 vegetarian taco options. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp at entrance and accessible table options.

Aside from the manager giving me a dirty look the other day when I asked for a lid for my frozen margarita, I love this place. I ordered the brisket nachos , and a spicy Tikka taco I think it was called and man 10/10 meal. First bites so good make you wanna get up and fight someone ,It smacked , flavors went crazy. It has like a certain soft texture that could be seen as cheap but works , an organic type mouth feel. I will note that when I dined in last time I was so mad about how much brisket I got on my nachos, on my delivery order tonight though they PACKED it in that to go box. So might have to just get it delivered? Who knows? I wish it would be consistent, but I would recommend the nachos for sure and the taco I had paired with it. Also for someone who doesnt like drinking much the frozen margaritas are pretty good, and the swirl mixed one was even stronger. Have gone back will go back , just very impressed with how they got down on my delivery order.

I highly appreciate Estefanía for all her help with my first visit at Velvet Taco. All her recommendations were delicious and she went above and beyond to give us an A1 experience. She was quick on her feet from drinks and sides to getting our tacos at a timely matter. She was super sweet, friendly, and funny. I loved the ambiance and will definitely be coming back with my pups for the outdoor seating! In Love with the unique tacos!

When they called my name I went up to get my tacos. The bottom of the metal trays they put the tacos in was nasty. It had some kind of grime on it. I literally had to wash my hands before I could eat my tacos. The tacos were small and flavorless. The birria tacos were only slightly browned and there wasnt enough consumè to even dip the taco in. I wouldnt eat here again Id rather go to Taco Bell.

1st time here....Monday night, 7pm. No wait, not crowded. By far the best Taco I ever had. The variety on the menu was pleasing & there was something for everyone. Amazing place for tacos! Staff was really friendly and helped me pick out the best flavours (ended up going with tikka chicken and sweet shrimp tacos). I despise driving 45 min to receive terrible customer service. My wife and I chose Velvet Taco over Chelas off Broadway to change up the scene. However, after we walked in to order, our enthusiasm and mood was instantly killed by the older guy taking our order at the counter It s sad when people forget to provide a positive experience for their customers.

Placed an order for pick-up the day before so it would be ready at 1130 as we had clients in our office for lunch. Arrived at 11am when they open gave them about tens minutes before walking to verify the order. They were not aware of the order and the manager just grabbed my paperwork and just walked away. He was rude and seemed short tempered. Food was kinda overpriced had to wait an extra half hour for my order to be ready. Dont think Ill be going back.

The best Tacos I have ever had. Their chicken piccata (was a special for the week) was a mouthful of flavors. I have never enjoyed a taco so much!! Their entire place is really cool and the prices are very competitive for amazing tacos!! And they serve alcohol so it can t get any better.

This was my first time eating here and I will have to say I wasn t very impressed for the price. We got the birria tacos which had very little meat and cheese in them and the consome was severely lacking in flavor. I got the smash kobe taco which was pretty good (tasted like a hamburger) and I liked that they offer tacos to be substituted with lettuce wraps. They didn t cook the Al pastors corn tortilla and it fell apart once picking it up. Their blue corn chips didn t pair well with the queso blanco. Overall their margs and atmosphere is good..

Order food online to-go, show up on-time and wait 12 minutes after getting to the restaurant anyway. Tacos are cold. But the worker legit forgot to ask me to pay despite me sitting there for 12 minutes in my car with card in hand, so at least I didnt have to pay for this garbage experience.
