Take forever to get anything. Sitting at the bar. Isnt that busy. Shouldnt take 15 min for a drink. And 30 for appetizers. Not coming back to this place. Its a nice place, but I should have went somewhere else.

OVER RATED! Dont bother, food was NO BUENO! Lobster bisque was sweet like pumkin and lobster was rubbery. Crab cake tasted like cheap Thanksgiving stuffing and lobster ravioli pasta was over cooked and chewy. Scallops are drowned in marinara sauce, like why? Gross...waste of $ thats for sure! Will NEVER return.

The Palm was amazing. From the service to the food to the environment. I had a great experience at the restaurant. Also I want to shout out to the staff for their professionalism. When I arrived there was a birthday group that were being loud and obnoxious. It s not the type of happy birthday loud. But I was the type of loud behavior that would make one cringe with their remarks they were making and table manners as well. The staff was very professional and considerate of all others in the restaurant, checking on us and making sure we were okay and apologizing for the group s behavior. Thank you for being so nice staff and professional with everyone in the restaurant and not letting that behavior get to you. The food was amazing. My steak was a perfect medium. The margarita was delicious I had to tell myself not to drink it all at once. I highly suggest going. Be cognizant that you will be spending quite a bit of money on this meal.

Wow. The Palm s chef is a master at cooking steaks. I ve been twice during my month stay in San Antonio and both times the steaks came out perfectly cooked and seasoned. The starter, sides, and dessert were all outstanding. The atmosphere was great, service was top notch. This really is the epitome of fine dining.

Many visits enjoyed, this time: asked if they had a certain wine (usually $17-18 a glass), told no but they had one similar. When the check came: wine was $33 a glass. As a waiter myself for over twenty years, this was a crappy way to treat guests. Makes me doubt returning again, and a shame after some wonderful times there. Dont screw your guests over, servers.

If youre looking for a great spot in San Antonio, youve gotta check out The Palm! We had an awesome time there. The bartender, Jason, was a total rockstar - super friendly and knew his stuff when it came to wine. He helped us pick out some delicious options. We ordered the Meatball and it was incredible. The manager stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly. Its nice to see they really care about their customers. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area and want a fun night out with some good eats and drinks!

My boss is very picky and hard to impress when it comes to food but after she had her tomahawk ribeye she was blown away by how good it was. She loved it and couldn t stop going on that this by far is the best birthday lunch she has ever had. All the other employees also ordered from here and could agree more that not only was the food was amazing but the portion sizes were big. We will be definitely be getting lunch from here on a more regular basis. Also big thank you to Belinda she was the one who took our order and made sure everything came out great also was nice enough to bring it out to me so I didn t have to get down. She also added a little birthday note for my boss which was extremely thoughtful.

The last two times visiting the palm have been bad. Two times ago the service was atrocious. We were the servers only customer, and she disappeared several times. When she was in the dining room, she was focused on talking to her coworkers and never checked on us. Yesterday we made the mistake of going back to the palm. We were in the mood for prime rib and were very disappointed. We received a 1 1/2 inch tough-chewy piece of meat that was seared on all sides. Thats not prime rib. Tilman has killed the palm. We will never be back.

This is one of those tomes when everything was just right, I dont remember what we ordered, like it all just melted into a tasty sensation - there was steak, seafood, pasta, veggies, drinks, etc...it was everything.

4.3 stars. 1st time to eat here. Business meal for our party of 10. Appetizers were mixed as the calamari was overcooked and quite rubbery while the shrimp was not only juicy and perfectly fried but also super fresh. The pork belly was average. The wedge salad was more appropriate for two to three but had a generous serving of blue cheese crumbles and bacon. The 8 oz filet was cooked perfectly rare as ordered. The blue cheese crust was underwhelming and a bit salty. Sides were good particularly the potatoes au gratin. Risotto was meh as were the green beans with prosciutto. The dessert drink of Liquor 43 and espresso was deceptively good and smooth. Be sure to order one post meal! Service was solid as the Palm team kept drinks filled and plates cleared. I didn t get to see the final bill but imagine it to have cost a good mortgage payment and then some. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal. Pricey but good but just not one of those one of the best meals of my life moments. Kid-friendliness: Would not recommend bringing young kids here as the setting is more for special occasions, dates, and business deals.

Was a date night for me and my better half and we d made reservations for 8:00p. When we arrived promptly at 8am we were told there would be a 15 minute wait or we could sit outside. Since we were attending a show later that evening we weren t left with much of an option so we sat outside. We ordered a dozen oysters and while they came promptly following our drinks they were not the worst they were average at best. After finishing the appetizer and another drink it had been 30 minutes so we inquired about the entrees, waiters response, well they re not not coming with a bit of a sarcastic smirk as if to be making light of the situation. Would ve been nice had he said let me get us an update. 20 minutes later her salmon and my filet arrived. As I attempted to cut into the steak it seemed rather tough . I had ordered it medium rare and when the first slice was grey all the way through I decided to cut through the center of the steak only to find a medium to medium well filet in front of me. 10 minutes after dropping to entrees the server returned and I pointed out the issue. He looked at it and said appears medium rare to me . I said well it s not . He got a floor manger who came over and half way apologized for the situation saying something to the effect of I m referring to some different form of medium rare. After explaining that we didn t have anymore time she went to remove the steak from the bill. When she returned the bill I noticed that I had been charged for two steaks and credited one. I had to go track her down to correct the issue to which she seem bothered. Worst experience I ve ever had dinning out, especially given the prices which aren t even close to merited.

So I went to open table and made one as there were still many reservations available. Went back inside and told the host I got a reservation to my surprise she became upset and rudely said like I told you before there aren t any tables available. That s is not what she said before. What she said is that I needed a reservation, which I got. Nonetheless I think my palm days are over.

The shrimp cocktail and the lobster Ravioli were the best thing last night at dinner. We want to love this place but its difficult when you spend $150 and do not love everything you get. We will order more if satisfied with the food. It started with the hostess who did not appear to be happy to see me (no warm greeting, no smile, miserable?) The waiter (no warm greeting, no smile, miserable?) asked me at least three times if I wanted something before my husband arrived (parking). Standard procedure? Was clearly waiting for my husband. Finally said so. They can not make a proper Long Island Ice Tea. A cocktail we have been drinking for decades. First too sweet and then oddly not. No squirt of coke? We couldnt finish it (I had a taste). Lemon drop was OK. Oysters were the smallest I have EVER seen. One of the managers explained why that was the case (no warm greeting, no smile, miserable?). Eat all oysters at once to taste them. Thumbnail size. We really were not asking for anything and ultimately declined the comp dessert. To add insult to injury the first manager told us the favor she bestowed upon us for allowing the oysters to be sold to us by individual Oyster (normally during happy hour) vs six or twelve per order. I ordered three oysters. Good thing they didnt waste their oysters. Tell me about the favor after I get the check. Potato Au Gratin was not craveable. And just when I didnt know you could mess up a Caesar salad the dressing was off. Watery and Vinegary. We were treated like gold at the restaurant next door (OMG the potatoes!!!) and wanted to spend money there. And we did. Perhaps thats why no warm greeting, no smile, miserable at The Palm. Not trying to be funny. Was just very disappointed. Always want to feel that money is well spent.

Learned some valuable lessons last night. We arrived at 830pm (30mins) before closing and I already felt bad for coming this late, but the party with us wanted drinks and food from here. A friend of mine and I ordered the sea bass. My friend complained that her fish was cold and tasted gross. I hadnt eaten all day and didnt care to complain as cold fish doesnt bother me! Well minutes after getting home, I had chills, and I was nauseous, and then I had major diarrhea all night long... ... I should have turned my fish in as well, I just didnt want drama. I got no sleep last night and I have a huge meeting today...Been sick all day with a pain in my stomach. I fear its food poisoning.

Finally went to the Palm for dinner. Ive always expected this was a very fancy place being a high-end restaurant in downtown San Antonio. I guess you could say I was underwhelmed. The dining area gives the feel of a diner and the pictures and caricatures on all the walls and pillars is very odd. I had the steak 6oz. filet. It was very good, not spectacular like you would get at a upper end Steakhouse, and slightly undercooked for being medium. The Cream spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. Its very pricey and my wife and I had a bill of $200 and we each only had one glass of wine. Overall its a very nice restaurant , and the service was very good, but nothing really made us want to go back.

This is my husbands and Is 4th year carrying on our tradition of celebrating our engagement on New Years Eve (and generally just having a planned night out every year). We are always so happy to return to The Palm! This year we were lucky enough to have William as our waiter! He was extremely knowledgable and kind. He was considerate and made us feel welcome to just relax and enjoy ourselves. His descriptions of everything we ordered were impeccable and left nothing to chance, we really enjoyed everything we had! We dont get to do things like this often and I really value that William was willing to walk us through the menu and make sure we were really happy with our choices. Everyone that came by the table wished us a happy anniversary, since they always put this cute little confetti on the table to celebrate, and its always just so nice that they go out of their way to notice. Jacob was in our section and he was friendly, and personable, and helpful! It was a busy night downtown and he really stepped in when William was being torn in so many different directions. Service never faltered and we are so grateful to have this place to celebrate! I recommend that if you start a tradition you choose somewhere that is as reliable and memorable as The Palm.

We d had wonderful New Years dinners on the last at The Palm SA, so we went desperately hoping they could fit us in. They were jam-packed, but they made it work for us, and we had a wonderful meal. Freebies: the regular bread roll and pretzel bread roll were really good with butter Appetizer: Fried calamari was ok, but the marinara sauce that came with it on the side was basically too big tomatoes slices in sauce. Barley any sauce. Entree: New York strip (Oscar style) had to be one of the toughest and chewiest steaks I have ever had. For a $60-$70 steak I was extremely disappointed. By the time I was done eating the steak my jaw hurt. Texas roadhouse has way better steaks for way cheaper! The steak was bland, luckily, I had it Oscar style which the sauce and crab meat on top was a plus. By the end of the meal with a bottle of wine, we spent roughly $280 plus tip and I immediately felt taken. I expected the high bill, but was expecting higher quality food. The steak was absolutely, without a doubt, definitely not worth the money. I thought they were known for steak but it s probably better seafood. Sorry The Palm, but I believe the restaurant is overrated and most likely will not return for those prices. Positive: The staff and service was great.

What a lovely and welcome surprise The Palm was after several days of eating sub par food at various Riverwalk restaurants!! First, the vibe here is upscale casual Brat Pack. I loved it! My server was fantastic - I cant remember her name but shes blonde and from New York. I loved her! Also, two managers stopped by to make sure my needs were met; much appreciated! Next, I ordered the grilled shrimp with green beans and potatoes mixed into a horseradish gremolata. I couldnt detect any horseradish but the lunch portion was just perfect, not to mention delicious, so no worries! I ordered an iced tea to cool off and my whole bill, tip included, was under $40!

Food was terribly underwhelming. Ate with family of 6 and all of the food lacked salt, risotto was clumpy and dry, sent an item back for being cold, mushrooms swimming in oil, rubbery shrimp and Im sure theres more. I would give zero stars for the food if possible, outrageous for the prices they charge. Service was pretty top notch, the only redeeming quality of the night.

It is a pity that the staff is not aware of a tourist with children, yesterday we went to dinner, there were 10 people including 2 4-year-old girls. We asked for chairs for children, they never gave them, I asked for something to entertain them, they did not pay attention either, but it took longer It took 50 min to take the order and only the waiter was charged to serve us water and water did not allow it to finish, surprise was when more than 170 dollars was charged for pure water, it is a total abuse, I would not return for anything ... for True, our reservation was at 7 pm, they attended us 45 minutes after our reservation, and we left around 11 pm, all because it took too long to serve ...

Made reservations for 5:30 last night for dinner and go to the play at Majestic. Seated at 5:35. Waiter came and we ordered drinks. Slow on bringing drinks but very crowded before play. (Always is!) We then got bread and placed our order. We split wedge salads and 3 ordered soups. Other shrimp sauté. Waited about 20 minutes to get soup. Only 1 bisque and 1 onion soup delivered w/ 4 spoons. Other soup 10 minutes later. Asked waiter about shrimp entree and he said she had soup . Waiter clearly forgot to place shrimp order. 10 minutes later dish arrived and shrimp had clearly been put in microwave. Shrimp were tuff. A 2nd drink was ordered when soup delivered and took over 20 minutes to arrive. We never saw our waiter except when dishes came out. Several times we asked other waiters to send him. We are very patient. Then all of a sudden it s 7:15: 15 minutes before play starts. We can t find our waiter even to ask for check. Asked to speak to Malcom , the manager, and told our problem. Called attention to time. He said he d get w/ waiter and give us our cards. That only took 15 minutes . He did adjust our bill a little and we hurried across street barely making it to our seats for lights out. Terrible experience. We will not be back.

We were visiting downtown San Antonio during Fiesta , we decided to have drinks at the bar, it was crowded however everyone was quick to order and get drinks, yet the bartender told us that she had a lot drinks and would have to wait, after maybe 20 - 25 minutes we got our drinks and they were not good at all, one was a cucumber martini and it was bitter, after trying to get her attention and waited another 10 minutes she finally came over I told her the problem and told her to please take it off my bill she insisted on bringing me another which wasn t good at all. I get it, it was busy but if your going to serve other customers whom apparently were white and obviously had money received service promptly I feel I should ve received the same service . I may not be rich, but lm pretty able to pay for my bill . We paid and left to another restaurant where we received much better service and they were busy as well. Not going back !

We recently visited The Palm, a 5-star restaurant, with my husband and 12-year-old son on St. Patricks holiday. Unfortunately, our experience could have been more satisfactory. A group of individual men entered the restaurant and were extremely loud and disruptive, using profanity that was not suitable for a family-friendly environment and sitting directly behind us. As we were trying to enjoy our meal, we found it difficult to hear each other due to the commotion caused by the group of men. I raised my concern with our waiter, hoping that something could be done to make our dining experience more comfortable. However, to my surprise, the waiter offered for us to shimmy over to another table as our food arrived, as if the disruption was our fault and we were expected to accommodate the noisy guests. This response upset me, and I informed him that we werent planning on moving to another table and inconveniencing ourselves. I also informed our waiter Brandon that other guests seemed very upset with the dynamic and this situation. Brandon continued by telling me this is the norm for downtown San Antonio. We typically chose The Palm for its classy ambiance and reputation, and it was unacceptable to have our dining experience ruined by the behavior of other guests. Despite the delicious food, the entire experience was ruined by the lack of attention to the needs of their customers and the lack of respect for the restaurants ambiance. When we left, I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager named Malcolm. However, I felt he needed to be more responsive to my concerns and offered a generic solution for a future visit, even though I had indicated that we would not return due to our negative experience. Its unacceptable for guests to be exposed to foul language and disruptive behavior from other diners, especially in a high-end restaurant where one expects a refined dining experience. Additionally, being unable to hear each other due to the noise level is also not conducive to an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant should have a better grip on its standards and be more understanding towards the concerns of its guests. In a service-oriented industry, customer satisfaction should be the top priority, and swift action should be taken to address any issues that arise during a guests visit. Unfortunately, we spent nearly $500 plus a $100 tip on a not-enjoyable night for my family. Overall, I was highly disappointed with our experience at The Palm, and I cannot recommend it to anyone looking for a sophisticated dining experience. It was an unfortunate experience that ruined what should have been a special evening out with my family.

I let my wife taste it too be sure it wasnt just me,and she confirmed it. I never send my food back anywhere but tonight I just couldnt do it so I returned it. They tried to offer me something else but I just cannot order something else if I return my food. My wife enjoyed her salmon and I ordered calamari appetizer after a while. Was also disappointed they dont offer the creme brulee.Brule. I did ask if there was a change in recipes and she stated that there wasnt but you can taste the difference.

The palm used to be excellent, from service to food. However the name can not save it and unfortunately this will be the last dining experience. We arrived a little before 3 pm. The restaurant was empty but one table and we were a party of 8. The hostess needed to check with the manager to see if she could fit us in. We waited about 10 min for them to get us a table (again empty restaurant) we were seated and our waiter was nice but definitely had little experience from water to drinks to food there was a wait. We were given the dinner menu as apparently lunch ends at 3 pm. They did accommodate a burger for a picky child. The food was ok, arrived somewhat warm. The bone marrow soup was so sweet it was not good. The Cesar and wedge salad was the best of the meal. The steak was ok but not amazing and the chicken parmigiana which does not come with pasta was definitely just ok. The veal parmigiana was better but again no pasta. We dined for a hour and a half and not one person was seated. It is just strange over all to seem so unwanted for a table that including tip (yes we tipped well it was not the waiters fault he hasn t been properly trained) spent over $500 and seemed to inconvenience the restaurant. Maybe it s the new normal for The Palm but I will definitely pass next time. They should be concerned their once 5 star is 3.5 and I totally see why. I guess I can only say make a reservation maybe you will be treated better.

We came here for Thanksgiving and had high hopes for it. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the Thanksgiving dinner that was ordered. The turkey was dried and the sides were equivalent to a school cafeteria. The ribeye steak quality was good but definitely something you could get at your local Costco. My daughter ordered the shrimp sautéed and added linguine which she says was the best. At least the kiddo was happy. All in all, for a steakhouse with the prestige that the Palm was known for, I was kind of disappointed. I wouldve picked Ruth Chris instead. Fyi, my favorite steakhouse is John Howies and Palm is at least 3 levels below.
