I DO NOT RECCOMEND! My family and I went there this past weekend. Terrible service, first it took forever for someone to take our drink order. They only had one Menu for a family of 5. Finally, the waiter came and put our drink orders in on his little machine but still got our drinks wrong. We ordered sweet tea and lemonade for the kids. The sweet tea was disgusting, it tasted like it had been sitting for a few days. the lemonade was also disgusting. The food was pretty good other than my daughters pizza was covered in grease I had to dab it with a paper towel. Also, no shade over the playground. THERE WAS A WASP NEST UNDER THE TABLE WHERE WE WERE EATING. Also, the waiter included his own gratuity of 20% which he only deserved about 5$ if that. I will not be coming back to this restaurant

Its like a dive bar with a kids playground outside... Not the best combination. The service was friendly but super slow. The food was mediocre at best. There are much better places for families to eat with a playground than here. Disappointing, I really wanted to like this place.

Bill came to $70(with tip) for an adult beverage, nachos, 2 kids pizzas and 2 kids drinks. Nachos were cold and bland- ended up feeding it to the stray cat under the porch. Kids didn t even touch their food. Server was super sweet. This place is extremely overpriced and underwhelming.

What a GEM! This place is amazing! Great outdoor space, playground for the kiddos, and an amazing menu! Burgers, Dogs, Pizzas, Sandwiches you are covered! Drink menu is diverse with some amazing signature cocktails! Service is incredible (We had Cheyenne), never had an empty cup and food was fast/fresh! Would definitely recommend if you are out in the area!

It was ok. I got a $9.00 cucumber martini and it looked like a shot instead of a regular wine glass. Bucket of beer $29.00 and even if you are paying separate rickets for 12 people, gratuity added and its 20% waitress was not worth 17.00 for 2 people. Not going back again

When we arrived, the inside of the restaurant had a really strong chemical smell so we opted to sit outside. I dont know what the issue was but even my kids noticed it. We almost left but Im glad we stayed because they loved the playground and the food was decent. The queso reminded me of skating rink queso, so if youre into that, youll like it. The server was very helpful so all in all a good experience mostly for the outdoor atmosphere.

I first heard about this restaurant from the Facebook Group San Antonio Restaurants. It was recommended to me when I asked for suggestions for a restaurant for my sons 3rd birthday dinner. I said we needed a location that was for mostly adults but yet kid friendly. So we selected Backyard on Broadway because it met the criteria we were looking for and we were not disappointed! We had a wonderful experience! Dre. was the person who I engaged in communication with pretty much the entire time and was amazing to work with. All of my questions were answered and very timely! As soon as my toddler and I walked in their establishment we were greeted by the hosts who exclaimed, You must be the birthday boy!! I knew it was going to be a great experience from then on! We had prime real estate seating up on the patio overlooking the playground. Our food was brought out hot and very quickly after being there. Our servers were hustling back and forth and did an amazing job of making sure our guests were happy. They took all of our special requests and made everything seamless. We had elderly that needed chairs with backs, dietary restrictions with gluten free crusts, small children and we were in the shade. They kept our cake and goodie bags with meltable candies inside their walk-in fridge until needed. Their PBJ pizza (pepperoni and bacon jam) was the hit of the party! Their chicken tenders were as well! They were not your basic tenders. These were super flavorful and oversized. They said we could decorate the space, but I am not the decorating type so we just had a big banner and called it a day! It worked great on their space. After our dinner was over we had to make a quick dash to the Scobee Education Center because I had gotten all our guests tickets to the Planetarium. We broke down our sign and boxed up our cake and the restaurant said we could leave our stuff there and come right back and pick it up after the show! They were life savers!! I could go on and on about how happy we were. I just wanted to let everyone know what a great time we had and that it was a great choice for us! Sharing a few pictures for reference. If I had to say something negative it would be that their cups of salsa for their chips are too small. We need more salsa because they were really good!

Food was sub par for the price and my kids chicken tenders were pretty burnt. My kids would not eat them. However the atmosphere for the kids is great as it features a large outdoor with kids playground. If stopping for a drink I do recommend. Service was a bit slow for the amount of people that were there. Worth another go

They yelled at us for bringing in a volleyball and we re just rude about it when we didn t know the rules. We had to wait 2 hours for our food even though it wasn t busy at all. Also they kicked us out after 9 because we brought our kids with us. I would rather go to the gas station then this place.

I went recently and waited to be seated. Exactly 6 min and it was not busy the servers walked past me often not one person said anything. We we went to sit down and for 20 min 2 ladies walked past me and didn t say a word I mean made eye contact and not even a smile. Me and my guest got up to walk out and I asked the last of anyone was waiting she said no, you need to order at the bar. (With attitude) No one greeted me or even let me know they were only taking orders there today. They could have wrote it where they wrote to wait to be seated when you walk in. And not actually even seating us. Instead I got nothing. Will not return.

We had a baby shower there and they were super accommodating but I feel like they should have assigned maybe 2 waitresses. We only had one and Im sure she didnt forget about us but it sort of felt that way. Once we all ordered food, i didnt see her again until it was time to close out. Overall though, great place, super nice staff, my friends baby shower turned out wonderful.

Food was horrible. No menu, you have to scan a QR code for menu like Pandemic. NO salt or pepper packets. Hardly any ice in drinks and youre outside in the heat, no Bueno! And BEWARE.....when you get your receipt they added a 25% tip(took a photo) and there was only 3 of us, not even $60.00, you have to customize your tip to change. Definitely will NOT be back. They may want to check their machines for the 25% tip and it SHOULD be up to the customer how much tip or compensation according to service NOT the establishment.

Recently visited with my family from El Paso Tx not only was the food excellent but the yard was absolutely amazing and so was the ambiance of the whole restaurant. Our waitress Ronie went above and beyond for us. I will definitely recommend Backyard on Broadway to my friends and family in San Antonio. We will be back next time we are in town.

While the food and outdoor area were nice, there was a discrepancy with the bill that no one at the restaurant could fix, and I was told to leave my number for the manager who never called me. Their website clearly advertised half price pizzas during the weekdays at lunch on the date of our visit under the House Rules section, and the restaurant claimed after the fact that they no longer did half pricing and could not discount our one pizza among multiple other sandwich orders. Pretty disappointing that they couldn t honor their own pricing discounts posted on their website and weren t willing to offer any solutions.

The good thing about this place is that its downtown. Its a good location if you are looking for a place to stop and let the kids play, you get a drink, and chill out before exploring downtown or local areas. Ive been coming here for years. The bartenders and staff just get worse and worse. The playground is run down and needs to be updated and fixed. Its also in a terrible location. They have a huge area with a lot of tables, yet you cant watch your child play.

The only problem is picnic tables are hard for old people to sit on and get in and out of,suggest tables and chairs. I really enjoyed my experience here! I hosted a mixer for our staff and the experience was fantastic. The food was delicious and the our service was excellent. This was my first time there and I just happened to drive by when I suggested this place. So glad I did! The added bonus was the playground! My son ended up coming and I m so glad he did. I hosted a family birthday party at Backyard on Broadway. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating!! Everything we asked for with our reservation was provided and coordinating with Dre from management was great. Our waitress was helpful and attentive, too. This is an awesome location for a group celebration; the kids loved playing on the playground and the adults enjoyed pitchers of beer. We happened to be there on a very busy day, but the food and drink came out fast and everyone had fun! This place is organized and they know how to accommodate parties well!

Is this place under new management or ownership? New menu and the food is horrible. Ordered the brisket nachos, no flavor. The cheese is clearly from a can. Brisket was very fatty. Also ordered the cheesy bread. It tasted like something out of the frozen section at a grocery store. Order kids meals, and even my kids who are not picky, chose to not eat their food. At least the water was good. Would not come back.

But I know it wasn t just me because I bumped into my friend when leaving and she said her group has been waiting for their drinks & food for over an hr too. I Had a bad first experience never again will I be back there pizza was so hard too we didn t even eat it (we were there for 3hrs) we got 2 personnel pizza, a burger , 1 beer and 1 margarita, order side of fries, pitcher of water total was about $100 not worth it at all! Just writing my experience because I just don t think it worth it I bet yall can find somewhere better for you & the kiddos.

They forgot our order, one of them. There s no magherita pizza on the menu, when requested that they add basil and tomato s to the cheese pizza (very simple request) and our waitress with the straight black hair clipped back said the kitchen is really strict with their menu .since they can t add 2 ingredients on a simple cheese pizza I would think they re serving frozen pizzas. The pizza came burnt , tasted disgusting. Wings are okay, but overall this place is mid. Took around 20 minutes to even get a waitress after we were seated and then some more to get any service. Only come here if you plan on drinking and not eating, they are not good for dining in service.

We went to Backyard on Broadway for my birthday. The yard has been filled with picnic tables - so it prevented a lot of room for the kids to run around on. The staff forgot to make a pizza that was ordered and gave away our friend pickles. Therefore, we needed to place new orders and wait even longer. Dietary restrictions: Options are available for specific dietary needs. For example, my mom has a gluten allergy and there were food options available. Kid-friendliness: There is still a park for the kids to play on and run around. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps are available for wheelchair accessibility.

After waiting 30min to get a waitress to our table, we finally get to our, the menu is really limited, and when the food we ordered was bland and low quality. The pizza was really mid not impressed one bit. The dessert was terrible they ll serve you churros without sugar and cinnamon. If there was an option for 0 stars,I would leave it. Today we walked in at 6:10pm. We went to sit outside as it was a nice evening. We looked at the menu. Waited and waited for service. We saw someone deliver food to another table and she did not have a pleasant face. There were plenty of workers standing around but no one ever said a word to us. Came here after the Southerleigh never called us in for our table. We were excited that there was a place for the Littles to burn off some energy (10 & 12), lots of outdoor seating. Food was great... we were starving, so no pictures of anything but our apps. Ordered - nachos (very good!) Fried pickles (also delicious, and a great batter) Pesto chicken pizza- Partner says it was good The Classic & sweet potato fries- sister says it was good I ordered the chicken on a bun, with grilled chicken instead of battered & fried and without the bun. I added garlic parmesan fries and they were AMAZING. 12 yr old ordered pink lemonade (tasted like dragon fruit, he says) and chicken tenders with fries. 10 yr old ordered pepperoni pizza & pink lemonade. He made no comment. Booze - Partner ordered the Whorechata (no, I didnt spell that wrong) and sister ordered Daddys Daiquiri. Partner loved his drink, sister said hers was ok.

On 2-17-2024 I had my wedding dinner and ceremony here! It was amazing! Our server was amazing! The restaurant staff was so polite and were VERY ACCOMMODATING to what I needed. My husband and I got married here and they were able to give us a nice area to say our vows. Both the managers were so amazing to us. I love backyard on Broadway because of the kid-friendly environment (kids allowed until 9) the beautiful backyard setting, and the amazing staff! This place was trash! We came here more because they had a playground, food sucked, drinks sucked and to top it all off the service was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. No one even acknowledged us. The hostess had no idea what she was doing. I asked if a waitress was supposed to be serving in us after 15 minutes of waiting and her response was well yes but they are all busy so go put your order in at the bar. Never again and I ll share on every platform what a terrible experience I had here.

Fun place for outdoor eating with loud music, picnic tables for seating and a kids area. They got the kids food out fast. The rest came fairly quickly except the handmade pizzas take a bit longer but are delicious. Kid-friendliness: The kids play area has a jungle gym with swings and a slide plus room to run around. It has a good view for parents, and the kids loved it.

We went Friday. There was like 10 people total. The food was aweful. The nachos were the nastiest, sorry to say. The pull pork was almost all fat. The sliders were not good either. Great place to bring kids before 9pm. Its a bit insulting when your actual server hasnt been to your table in 30 min to ask if you need anything but a separate server comes to REMIND you that exactly at 9 we are kicked out because we have kids..... I get it liquor licences and we had no intention of staying past 9 (which we left at 845) but maybe if our server came to check on us we could have close out .... Word to the wise.... Put your tab at the bar and get up to order when you want something/anything. Save yourself the disappointment!

There was a hair baked into our pizza crust. The beer was warm at best and tasted a bit off. The place also smelled a bit musty which should have been the signal for us to turn around.

I used to love bringing my kids here. It was a great space for them to run around and play while I enjoyed time with other moms. It seems now theyve become anti-children and have taken up all the backyard space with picnic tables and confined kids to just a play structure.

We were really excited to finally try this place out and it was a HUGE disappointment. The bartender was not friendly at all and was in fact rude when we were ordering for the first time. She didn t even ask to salt the rim on our drinks or anything. She had a little attitude when we were asking for suggestions on food items. We then headed outside to a dark seating area where we couldn t even see each other nor our food. Not sure why the string lights were not on. As we sat and waited for our pager to go off, no server came to check in or anything. When we went inside to grab the food, all servers were sitting down on their phone. Food was pretty good, drinks were terrible. Worst margarita I ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and skip out on this place.

Worst service we have had, very disappointing because our military unit was here before and spoke very well of the location and were not treated like that . Felt racial. We asked to be seated inside and were told to order at the bar while every single table inside around us had a waiter assist and no they were not short staffed. Everyone else was Caucasian while my husband and I are Hispanic and African American. We asked for assistance and was told inside we use our phone to pull the menu and order ourselves at the bar this was also our first time here. Very disappointing! Food was alright; our drinks were warm by the time our order came out.

Really nice place for kids during the day. (bar after 9pm no kids allowed) A lot of choice on the menu. Everything was good. Only negatif, the fries have oregano, anyone around us eat same. I wouldnt know how the food is or the drinks are. They never served us. We showed up and they told us after 20 minutes that theyre overbooked for a party and we had to go up to the bar for our order. Not two minutes later a couple showed up and they got served immediately. Horrible service. The manager wasnt even apologetic. Just giving excuses.

Woof. Where to start. Food is pretty expensive for simple bar food, but its on Broadway, so its understandable. Soft drinks come in a can for $3, Mixers start around $9 and dont taste better as the prices go up. They advertise as a pizza place, and they do have pizza, but there are better options if youre looking for a pizza spot. In very tiny text on the first page of the menu: 20% service charge added to all tabs over $100 because a pizza and 4 drinks is a good reason to add 20% on top of whatever tip you want to leave. As a one off, the place is ... Meh. If you cant decide where else to go and want mediocre everything, this is the place for you. Once was one time too many. In closing: Nope. Two stars because the waitress wasnt rude, otherwise it woulda been one.

I havent been here in a while and can say we wont be back. Never have I ever paid for plain out of the gun soda water in a vodka soda. Ordered the cheeseburger sliders and truffle fries. The burgers could have used seasoning, but the fries were good. Definitely expected better drink prices for well liquor. Especially during happy hour. You can no longer sit at the bar, but rather, have to walk up to it and order your drinks and food, and pick up your own food when ready. Only outside has servers. Not a fan of the new atmosphere.

I had a great time with my server the first time i came out with my family so we returned expecting the same experience and energy however we went neglected for almost an hr and then the host says we were supposed to order at the bar the line at the bar was ridiculous it took over 23 minutes for my pizza there was no compensation at all for our experience i was unable to speak with a manager I would recommend just keeping it as a bar the manager clearly doesn t understand the flip side of restaurant service as well as graceful hospitality

Buffalo chicken sliders were 2 chicken strips with a little sauce, draped over 2 buns, too lazy to even cut them! 8 of us got food, it was all bland and dry. Had to ask 3 times for condiments and still never got them. Quite a disappointment

Trying to disappointing trip to San Antonio and do a good one. Was trying to go to the zoo but couldnt find parking within 3 to 4 miles of it because I forgot Fiesta started. So I was looking for a restaurant with a playground nearby. The food was very fast the service was attentive and my toddler had a blast playing with some really sweet kids at the playground and we were able to dine just a few feet away and it wasnt very loud even with the kids running around. Will definitely be back

We brought our kids. They forgot us on the patio. The righted the wrong in a brilliant way and even if they hadnt, we would absolutley return. The Home Run and pulled pork nachos are beyond delicious. Were so glad we looked past the mistake and stayed. The general atmosphere is relaxing and our kids (2 & 4) loved the playground. Thanks for everything, well see you again! Kid-friendliness: Our kids ate everything and exclaimed yummmm!. The playground was Greta for littles.

Came here for a kids birthday party so I didnt really try their food except for the pizza, which was decent. The outdoor area is very nice. I really like that they have lots of tables with views of the playground. I would definitely go back again since I have two littles. My IPA wasnt super cold and the fries werent especially hot. The kid chicken tenders were good and crispy and hot. My sandwich was tasty but not amazing, though my toddler did prefer the beef to her chicken tenders. The playground is good but not so much for a small two-year old. There is a loose board on the rock climbing section of the large structure (forgot to snap a photo). Good amount of birds and crows if you like that, as well as a few flies (not knocking any stars for that, just an FYI). When I arrived around 1140 or so I was informed there was only one person (she was fine/good) working the front so no table service. Overall okay but will look for something else next time I take my kid to the Doseum.

We stopped here bc looked fun for the kids to play and eat, This place does not prioritize service, inconvenient process to order, food is really bad taste like frozen food reheated, cocktails are filled to top with ice if you ask for no ice drinks are premeasured to half the glass. Staff is just plain rude. Not very welcoming. We were told to seat ourselves no other explanations, we sat outside under the pavilion waited 15 min no one came to take our order went inside to ask for water over heard servers arguing over who was going to tell us to move bc they had a private party coming in. I moved my party to inside, waited some time b4 someone came up to let us know they dont take your orders you have to go to the bar. They had 4-5 servers and 3 bartenders wandering place was pretty empty, they only tend to you if you sit outside or have a private party, my kids love pizza this first time they ever not eaten or liked it, husband said it tasted like beer and frozen pizza from the store, chips stale and queso was cold, Orderd a Sangria it was muddy and thick when I questioned it the bartender had an ugly attitude told me it was whatever left over from the bottom of the barrel that it didnt matter bc it taste the same, when I refused it when they said they would replace the barrel with a new one? .. than she added ice to the top of the glass when I asked no ice she poured it into another glass half the size you get what you get. You have to get your own cups for water( they are in the back) you get your own plates utensils, know if you ask for any assistance you get attitude and feel like your inconvenience to them.

It was a busy, busy Sunday at BYOBraodway but we never experienced the affects of that because of how they have things set up. When you walk in, there is plenty of seating as you walk up to the bar, scan the QR code for the menu, get in a fast moving line and place your food & or drink order with a bartender. You are handed a buzzer to alert you of when your order is ready before you carryon to the outside area for even more outdoor seating. There is a private area for 1st come 1st serve parties that lead to an outdoor playground with plenty of space for kids. There is even more seating next to the playground so you can keep a close eye on your kiddo(s). They have servers for tables but we didnt use that service- ordering directly from the bar each time seemed easier for our needs. There is corn hole for older kids and a live dj as well. We would definitely return to this establishment for more family Sunday fundays. The food was tasty, and reasonably priced. The pizza & chicken strips were our favorite. As a non drinker , a michelada with sparkling water hit the spot! Parking: There is a lot of space for parking but it isnt utilized well. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp off the side of the for wheelchair & stroller access.

They make it so confusing on if you need to go the bar to order or wait for a waitress at the hostess stand. The music was unbelievable loud and obnoxious especially on a chill Wednesday afternoon. We were so excited to bring our son here so he could enjoy the playground but the service is so slow and horrible. Ended up just getting a refund and walking out.
