The park itself is the best in town, but almost every hike gets ruined there by the completely unethical employees driving by on huge motor vehicles and blowing dust, smoke, and a bunch of the crumbles on the natural trails into your eyes, nose, and mouth. They seriously need to walk or ride bikes instead of driving through nature! Update: They don t even let people have a blessed Sunday, since they insist on corrupting God s holy nature! Update: They re still doing those dirty deeds! Lock up your vehicles!!! I thought that the opposite of cold November rain (hot June sunlight) would get me time on my own today. Alas, I am NOT getting what everybody needs here today. Update: Extremely hot August sun is not getting me time on my own in the early afternoon!

If you have never been here make sure you drop a pin to your vehicle before you venture out. I spent two hours trying to find my way out of here. I counted two signs that would have led me back to the Military Hwy entrance two! In 311 acres! There signage is horrible. I seriously thought they would find my skeletal remains along side my dog. It s sad the city won t do better! I m glad it s his last term while he goes to DC to join the rest of his swamp rat buddies! Hopefully we can get the city back on track and put money into our natural resources and not give it away to foreigners!!

This is just one of the many connected paths/trails. It is about 75% shaded w mature trees. Watch out for the random wildlife and bicycles going by way too fast! It can be a peaceful walk or challenging hike/run. Perfect for all ages and abilities. Playground: beautiful playgrounds are multiple trailheads along this route Toilets: some trail heads have real bathrooms

One of my favorite city parks. Both halves of this park have a great dog park and playground, while the Military half of the park also has an education enter and a nice garden next to some odd art pieces. Since this is one of the newer city parks the restroom facilities are nice and up to date, which is always a plus. Compared to the other half of the park, the Military side is bigger, and the trails are a bit more challenging, being very natural as they follow the contour of the land and wind around through the trees compared to the level and paved trials on the Blanco side. Theres also the land bridge linking the two halves of the park, which is a cool site to see. Of note, it feels like this side of the park has more parking then the other half does, and I havent struggled nearly as much to find a place to park on this half of the park as I have on the other half.

This is a hidden gym of a park in the middle of a city. It is part of the greater Greenbelt Trail that connects many parks. The park is busier than most parks on the weekend. There s places for moderate hiking, biking, walking and birdwatching there are restrooms and learning opportunities along the way. There are ample seating areas when you get tired or just want to enjoy nature.

This park is awesome for sure. I heard it is famous, because of the land bridge. That makes no sense, because it is not any better than the hundreds of other parks in the area. Still, like I said - it is awesome. I like that there are plenty of trails. Its quiet. There is always a park patrol unit never far away.

Toilets: The restrooms are about average in terms of cleanliness for a park restroom, but they have an interesting design. The non-port-a-potty restrooms are a little far from the playground Dog-friendliness: With multiple dog parks and lots of hiking trails, this is a great place to bring your dog. Picnic area: There are lots of picnic areas, and many have grills. They are clean and easy to access.

My grandkids love this park! So much to do, and geocacheing is fun! Playground: Has an old-fashioned spinning metal apparatus. I call it Death Wheel since it generates centrifugal force, and you can fly off if not anchored securely. In the 1950s, we flew off and occasionally vomited from too much spinning. Naturally, it is the most requested activity by my grandsons! I watch them like a hawk! Toilets: Clean and handy. Also many portables around. Dog-friendliness: 2 dog parks. Picnic area: Big tables, lots of room for parties.

Phil Hardberger Park is a large, north side park divided in half by Wurzbach Parkway. The east end is accessible from Blanco Road, fairly close to Blanco Barbecue. The west end entrance is on Northwest Military, not far south from Alon shopping center. Also, its possible to use the Howard Peek concrete city bike trail as it runs between the east end of Phil Hardberger Park to Walker Ranch Park nearby. The east and west ends are not only divided by Wurzbach Parkway, but joined by the recently completed Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge, which enables deer and many other species of wildlife to safely cross over the Parkway from one end of the park to the other. Phil Hardberger Park offers miles of pretty, flat, wooded hiking trails and scenic views. The east end off Blanco features the unique Salado Outdoor Classroom and the popular Blanco Road Dog Park. The west end offers the Urban Ecology Center, suitable for large gatherings and meetings, and the blue playground. And of course, there is plenty of parking, especially on the east end. The park normally closes at 7:30 PM. Toilets: Clean restrooms are available at the Salado Outdoor Classroom and the Urban Ecology Center. Dogs will be happy the dog park, where free eco-friendly plastic waste bags are plentiful. Dog-friendliness: The dog park on the east end has plenty of room for small and large dogs, as well as concrete picnic tables for owners.

I went here looking for a bike path that would take me to the next park... Guess I made a wrong turn as the Phil Hardberger Park I found myself in only had a really nice playground, a fairly large enclosed area for your furry critters to run freely, several wonderfully well kept fields for sports practice and thats all I found. Of course, I may be wrong, but no bike trails connecting with another park could be found by yours truly. If you know differently, would love to be let in on the secret of locating a proper trail. Other than that little disappointment, its a great part of the system and I assume it serves the purposes for which it was intended.

Toilets: There are restrooms in certain parts 9f the park. Where the fields are only have porta potties. Dog-friendliness: Theres plenty of that. Today a man tried to follow me into the women s restroom. About 5 10 Hispanic black hair gelled to the side. Dark blue jeans and a black tshirt with a red phone case. He looked antsy the whole time I was there and when I went to the bathroom I had pure panic and adrenaline run through me so I ripped the door open and he was right there about to enter the women s restroom. He looked shocked to see me and ducked into the men s restroom very fast. Please be careful, go in groups and bring protection of some sort. Always trust your gut. Better to be paranoid than assaulted. Stay safe.

This park designed by Lake Flato architects, and constructed by Guido Brothers Construction, the UEC is built out of limestone and other materials native to the park. There are 8 miles of trails throughout the park that are open to bicycles. The trails on the Blanco Road side of the park connect to the Salado Creek Greenway trails, which is about 40 miles long. You could bike from Phil Hardberger Park to Fort Sam Houston and only cross traffic a few times. You can also taking a walk through the park is a great way to combat stress and improve heart health. This park, along with all the parks, needs to put up signs reminding people that they shouldnt be walking/running their dogs at noon on a hot day. The humans are in shorts. The dogs are in fur. Duh. The park itself is great.

Very unique physical structure worth the time to see. In essence, this was a thought leaders vision. Playground: There is a nice playground for the little ones. Dog-friendliness: There is both a dog park onsite and people were walking their dogs on the paths.

I have always enjoyed going to this park. Makes it even better cause I grew up going to it. The dog park is great and the trails plus the ecological center is pretty cool. Dog-friendliness: Every interaction is a chill and laidback one.
