My wife and I have been here many times. The quality/taste of the food is not as good as it used to be. Additionally they no longer serve free chips and salsa. I can t believe La Hacenda can t afford to do this. Surely free chips and salsa wouldn t affect your bottom line that much. You are the only Mexican restaurant I ve been to that doesn t do this.

Came at dinner time thought there would be a wait as it was busy, however we were seated promptly. Had chips and queso, chips are hard but get softer after smothering in cheese. The queso was bland until i added the salsa to it. Hubs got pollo en salsa chicken was done well, not dry. Chipolte sauce was good but not spicy. I had the enchilada de la huerta ... was good, would have liked more veggies. The white rice was gross and had a off taste about it. The charra beans were vegetarian and full of flavor. We will be back. Vegetarian options: Only 3 items that are veggie.

It was our first time here and the food was alright. Ive heard so many good things about the place. But was not impressed. The service was alright as well. We had a big family get together here. We also a family member put $26 on the table to pay and when she check the money was missing. And she still had to pay with a credit card to make up for the missing money. We will definitely not be coming back.

I ve been here twice. 1st time we came here and they were trying to charge our whole family for the complimentary chips and salsa. Someone came by with balloons and our 1 year old through a fit about the balloon. She couldn t have one because she d bite it. 2nd time: My MIL wanted to eat here for grandparents day this year. She was super disappointed with the waitress because she never brought a high chair for my two year old, only brought us 1 bowl of chips for 5 of us (she brought 2 chips bowls to a table of 3 guests) & didn t check on us throughout our brunch. I was only annoyed with the hostess who was rude when I asked to sit in the shade outside because I have a newborn. She gave me attitude about sitting in the shade and then we went outside and every seat was in the shade smh. Food was good and I d recommend huevos rancheros plate. They don t have horchata, which is disappointing. The kids had the most fun on the playground and enjoyed themselves. We need more places for parents, grandparents and their kids. Kid-friendliness: Outdoor playground. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking is at the front of the building and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Really enjoy the food here. I had the enchiladas verdes plate, which is my favorite. The sauce is so delicious and makes the enchiladas perfect. The rice is very authentic and the beans as well. The price for everything has gone up, but the quality has not gone down thankfully. I have previously bought their book for cooking the recipes and I love it. The book has helped me cook a few recipes of theirs and is totally worth the purchase. Kid-friendliness: They do have an outside playground area for kids. Making this place great family location to bring your kids so you can eat and they can run around and play.

Tried this place because all the other places we wanted to go were too packed and the wait time on this one was short. I normally don t just try Mexican restaurants unless they re recommended. I was born in raised in San Antonio and have eaten tons of Mexican foods. There is lots of parking here and a big patio which is good for families. I ordered the plate with the enchilada, taquito, and burrito. It comes with beans and rice. Considering the price I paid the food was just not worth it. It was comparable to mama Margie s or las palapas taste wise. It was pretty bland and dry. The service is good here. I d be ok not ever eating at this place again.

Went there on a Sunday evening at 6pm and was surprised to see it was PACKED. Unsure if it was because of the holiday weekend (Memorial Day) or all the graduation parties but it was chaotic. Had to wait maybe 30-45 minutes for a table for 4. Even though they have a nice and spacious patio, we decided to dine indoors since it was about 100 degrees outside and the bar next door was blasting music. I wasnt a big fan of the free chip appetizer (too thick and not salty enough) but my partner confirmed the salsa had a bit of a kick to it! I got the chicken puffy tacos. They were ok, but a bit under seasoned and dry. I was able to save them by stealing my dads sour cream and guac that came with his entee though, which made a huge improvement! Their beans and rice were really good, but my favorite thing was the frozen guava margarita. It was strong and delicious! Unsure if Ill be back anytime soon but definitely dont skip the margaritas here!

I ve come here twice recently, both times with large parties sitting outside. We had the same server both times and he s probably one of the worst I ve ever had at any place. First time we came I figured he was just overwhelmed because he was working a large section by himself but the second time was no better and there was a lot less people. He barely says a word and seems pretty annoyed at any request you make, forgets to bring drinks, takes forever to take orders and genuinely seems like he hates his job. I don t blame him on that part though, this place has mediocre food at best and the prices are really high.

My sister got sick from eating the Nachos. Soup was small. Salad was ok. The lunch special Taco plate with Fajita was good. The waitress we had was perfunctionary but not very cheery. The rest of the staff looked upset. Whenever I see all the staff members at a restaurant looking unhappy, it ruins my meal. The restaurant was sparse. It was a bit cool for lunchtime, so the seating outside was in a plastic bubble. We had gone for the outside seating but were not seated there. The host staff was the grumpiest I have ever seen. The short woman with the layers of pancake makeup needs to find another job. Bottom line: It is the grumpy staff that ruined the atmosphere. I like it when the manager comes out for a few minutes to welcome the customer. He would have seen the staffing unhappiness, and maybe he is the cause of it. I am just guessing. I get the feeling someone inherited this place, and he is not very interested in running it. Influencers write by getting paid. I am tired of paid reviews. This place looks like it is a tourist spot gone stale. I am not going back. Dang, its San Antonio. There are great places to eat all over town. There are too many choices to settle for a meal here. Parking: There are only three handicap parking spots that I could see. Feng Sui is just not there in the parking lot. They have kids play area that should be moved to allow for better parking for the challenged. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids play area that is big. I saw some people just come to let the kids play and not eat. I did not see kids menu items.

Unfortunately it had very bland chicken, even the rice and beans. They made you pay for chips or a side at least I believe to get chips. The overall vibe was just off. The water was also extremely funky tasting. Respectfully I dont recommend this location.

I called before arriving to ask if small dogs were allowed on the patio. The person who answered the phone said yes. We arrived and I waited on the bench outside the patio while my partner got a table at the host stand inside the restaurant. I rejoined him when he came outside with the lady who was seating us. When we got to our table, the lady said that for future reference only service dogs were allowed on the patio but we could stay because she was small. There was a cat living in the patio (had a food bowl and everything) and when we were leaving we watched an older man carry a chihuahua out of the inside part of the restaurant. Not sure why we were singled out because our dog was well behaved upon arrival and until leaving. Food was satisfactory and our waitress was sweet and efficient.

Fajitas and frozen margs...it was perfect! Ask for the homemade corn tortillas, they were a game-changer. Margs were exceptional; we sampled several different versions. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Pricey for what we got. Dont do a margarita on the rocks it was 90% ice and not a good deal. Tiny little basket of chips, and never refilled them. I looked at how big the place was and just expected more.

Gave this place a try for the first time tonight. Was a busy Friday night and after patiently waiting 45 mins for a table, we ordered drinks and an empanada with chips and salsa as an appetizer knowing the entrees would be a while. After getting drinks, we had to ask the waiter about the chips as we were getting pretty hungry at this point. He apologized and brought some and took our entree order. A while later, the empanada arrived. It was served frozen. Not just cold, but literally was a frozen solid brick of ground beef inside a slightly thawed dumpling. After alerting the waiter, he took it and sent the manager out about 10 mins later. The manager arrived empty handed and said he was sorry. He didnt offer to comp our drinks or come to our table with a fresh, cooked empanada. Either of those would have prevented this review. We paid for our drinks and left. I may give them a second chance, but the old saying you only get one chance to make a first impression totally applies here. Sad. The place seems like it has potential and I cant even rate the food as I never was served any that wasnt frozen.

I went to this place twice in the past few months after not going for years. The food is OK, but it is usually someone else who suggests we go here and I go along since thats what they want. The chips and salsa are not free and are not really worth paying for. I ordered the Fajita Taco Plate lunch special. It was OK and the service was pretty good. I was with a group, so the waitress was kept very busy but she made it work. It was a nice atmosphere for the most part. I had a house margarita and it was not bad. I will still go here if someone else suggests it, but probably wont go any other way.

If you had asked 2 yrs ago, La Hacienda was wonderful. Their food quality has greatly diminished since then. The fajita meat is chewy, dry and without flavor. You now have to pay for chips that are oily. Our plates came to the table at room temperature. Disappointing.

This is by far the worst Mexican food. Las Palapas is better than this place. We had the milanesa plate and the enchiladas verde plate and they were both bland. The milanesa was horrible, so horrible I sent it back. They use no seasoning, no salt, no cumin, no pepper....nothing! The rice and beans were horrible. Not sure how this place stays open. We came here on Valentines and it was dead which should have been a sign. We spent 60.00 on garbage. We wont ever return.

We used to come here regularly and were never disappointed. Well, that s changed. First negative was when we were told chips and salsa aren t included with meal! What! I ve never been to ANY Mexican restaurant that charged for chips. The server had a very uppity attitude. The food was barely edible and not served hot, even though the restaurant wasn t busy when we were there (about 1:30 pm on a weekday). They are way overpriced !!! I m so disappointed because they have a lovely patio to enjoy an outdoor meal on. We will definitely not return. There are tons of great Mexican restaurants in SA so we don t need to waste money at this place.

This place was just awful! Spent 20min waiting on drinks and another 30min waiting on food just for them to forget my wifes plate when they realized they forgot her order they brought queso as if everything was ok,we werent going to wait another 20min and for my family eat while my wife doesnt eat. When asked to cancel the order and that I requested that I would pay for the drinks and kids plates because my kids had already started eating. The server had a bright idea for me to share my plate with my wife and its all ok just poor customer service by the waiter and to agrue with the customer is horrible. Wont go back due to poor customer service as for the food cant say but chips were plan and salsa was watered down with no flavor.

My favorite Mexican food hands down. I m so in love with this food. Gorgeous, traditional restaurant with great family ambiance. The service is incredible. Waters, salsa, and margaritas on the table in under 45 seconds at 6:30pm on a Friday. We got to meet the owner who shared with us their family history and also brought us samples of some of their dishes. I love you La Hacienda!!!!

La Hacienda de Los Barrios was the perfect place to host our rehearsal dinner! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our party of about 60 people. Our guests, local and out of town, had a wonderful and enjoyed the food so much! There was plenty of space inside the restaurant for our guests to sit apart from the rest of the customers and enjoy the party. If you are looking for a place to host a celebration, this place is a wonderful!

I initially ordered the shrimp fajitas which had a decent price point, but the server suggested a mixed platter with beef, and I ended up deciding on the beef and shrimp because it sounded good. I want to let potential future patrons know to make sure you observe the fine print on the mixed fajita platter on the menu that I believe was 2699. In my case I was charged $40.99 (!!!) Why? It appeared on my bill that I ordered the beef fajitas and then 8 shrimp were added in which there was an UPCHARGE for each shrimp. I adjust assumed that I was getting a mix of equal portions of the beef and shrimp and then I would be paying 2699. The server didn t ask if I wanted. What maybe a shrimp? I agreed but once again, I was hoping it was just a proportionality thing for the mixed platter. I was too embarrassed to say something to our server because he was kind of us. I did feel kind of taken advantage of in a way because how my mixed platter came out how I was charged, would be to the advantage for the server for a bigger tip. I was not happy about this in the end . I wish I was let to know I was not getting a true mixed platter, but he beef fajita along with eight additional added shrimp. In terms of how my fajitas came out, I was disappointed because they were probably 30% overcooked and NOT very tender. The only partial saving grace that I can speak positively about was that the taste profile was decent. We went to Mamacita s yesterday in San Antonio, and in contrast at Mamacita s I had the best beef fajitas I have had anywhere up this time! Mamacitas had the most tender, marinated, and seasoned beef I have ever had; and the onions and mixed peppers were superior by leaps and bounds, compared to La Hacienda. The beef fajitas at La Hacienda needed to be cooked less, possibly marinated for far longer, and possibly have an even better cut of meat. The green peppers and onions were not cooked very well, lacked flavor, and the peppers were too crunchy. The beans and rice were average. Overall, my beef fajita dinner was a grand disappointment, and I can only give it a 2 out of five stars because the beef still had good flavor. The shrimp were not very flavorful, average-sized (large) and a big disappointment also , especially on the 12 to 13 dollars extra added to my bill. La Hacienda does have a nice atmosphere. A family of 5 of us spent $205 after tip and we spent less than half of that last night and enjoyed our dinner far more.

I met up with a friend to celebrate her brother-in-laws retirement from SAPD. Everything was beautiful! Vegetarian options: I ordered some chimichurri with chips and salsa which is something I always crave. Ive tried making it myself and it never turns out as amazing as the one the Los Barrios recipe. I also ordered the fish dinner and the sides were steamed to perfection broccoli and sliced carrots and an avocado salad and a portion of rice. I cut up a small portion of the fish, a few pieces of broccoli & carrots, some of the avo salad, and drizzled it with the chimichurri and hot sauce, mixed it all together, and used tore off pieces of a hot flour tortilla to scoop up bites from the chopped up mix. The plate came with a half of a lemon that was cut in half in a zigzag pattern. I enjoyed every bite, even without having ever squeezed that beautiful lemon over the fish. For a vegetarian option, I can say that Im sure this restaurant provides a variety of perfectly prepared choices. Parking: I think I arrived around 7:28pm and there was available parking immediately across from the entrance.
