Located in the heart of San Antonio, the Alamo stands as a Shrine to Texas Liberty. The Alamo tells the story of Texas Independence as part of its rich and diverse 300-year history to over 1.6 million visitors every year and is the #1 most visited destination in the State of Texas. In 1960, the Alamo was designated a United States National Historic Landmark, and in 2015, it became part of the Lone Star State's only UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Alamo does not work with any third party vendors to offer our timed entry tickets or any of our tour or exhibit tickets. The only way to assure you are reserving an official Alamo ticket or tour online is through our website or onsite at the Alamo Welcome Center.

What a beauty this place is. Tickets are free by the red welcome stand. There was no line to get in. Spoke with the cast, are very friendly. I always feel very welcome here. Good items to have. Theres great parking space around the corner. There was a lot of police, definitely felt safe. Definitely recommend this place. Always remember The Alamo!!!!

A great piece of history to visit. Worth the trip. Lots of attendants to answer your questions. My only complaint that I hope this reaches as many people as it can: 1) There is only one bathroom that is located in the garden, so be aware. 2) The hours they close are at 5:30 (Sept 2024). That means they WILL NOT let you into the garden AFTER 5 pm, so the only building you can visit is the church. Even though the hours say 5:30, they want the grounds cleared and CLOSED by 5:30. Unfortunately, we showed up at 5:15 and could only visit the church.

Important historical site of the Mexico-United States-Texas relationship. It has extra activities, some free, others with a prior charge. It is worth entering the sacristy. The story is told obviously, from the American point of view. Not very biased.

What can one say? One of the most historic sites in the USA. The on-site museum is well worth the visit. I didnt know (until I went to the museum) that Phil Collins of Genesis is one of the foremost experts on the place, and he narrates the history of the battle, accompanying the interactive diorama.

Its cool but its squeaky, as of September 2024 there is a lot of construction on the sides but in itself it is an enjoyable experience, since they are along the route of the missions, the one of San José and San Miguel de Aguayo is spectacular. The videos are from San Miguel.

I m a history nerd. It helps me as a homeschool dad. Coming to the Alamo is an experience that can be and should be transformative. It s not like walking through a museum with your 7th grade class. Because you move through the very same physical spaces that souls from history lived and died in, you can slow down and put yourself in that space too. Using the audio wand for the self guided tour helped me to pause and imagine the hundreds of years The Alamo has been here. The biggest impact for me was visiting the church, the iconic structure used to identify by its edifice. Miguel was the docent in the antechamber regaining us with the storyline. His passionate oration gave me chills. It s difficult to stay in your time and space hearing him. There were scores of visitors so it takes effort to see beyond them into the sanctity and sacredness of the space. But do it you must. The grounds are worth slowly strolling and reflection. Remember the history. See the mission that was before it was a fort in the frontier. The beauty is present. In the Exhibit Hall, a great surprise awaits. Phil Collins of Genesis fame turns out to be one of the most avid private collectors and curators of Alamo artifacts. He donated many of the pieces to behold and ponder. He narrates the history of the fateful night when the Texans lost to Santa Ana and were brutally killed. You MUST take it in twice to feel the night. Do not go just to be a tourist and check it off your list. Go to honor the missionaries, inhabitants, lives, soldiers, and volunteer warriors who lived and died here. Honor them with your attention. Hear their stories.

Extremely disappointed. It was supposed to be the highlight of a seven day trip to San Antonio. Instead there was major contruction projects at the site which took away from the historical significance of the mission, had to reserve a tour spot to get inside the church, and it didnt quite live up to what the mission actually looked like in the 1800s. Reference other missions in San Antonio area that were better to visit. In addition, had to pay $30 to park near the Alamo.
