Just spoke to this law firm, I would not reconnect this law firm. Stay far away. Their first duty is to the court, if a judge tells any one of their lawyers not to wear a certain suit again they will bend over backwards. Their duty is not in the best interest of the child but to the court first! Do not hire this firm, they will not argue your case in court. They will let the judge violate your rights and help them do it. When I heard this from their attorney during the consultation I immediately asked where is the duty to your client and the best interest of the child? She hung up. When a lawyers says their first duty is to the court that means you should run! Don t be to quick to hire an attorney, look around ask questions because lawyers like these will backstab their clients!

I could honestly say Mr. Ritchie and Ms.Vanya safe, me and my family and especially my insanity . I honestly don t know the correct words to show my appreciation towards this law firm because it s beyond words how thankful I am for them . All of them made us feel like family specially my girls like to be around Mr. Richie because he took the time to talk to them and asked her any questions they had that didn t have nothing to do with the case. He never rushed them. And he will make jokes and laugh at their jokes towards him . That was important to me that was another example of them being a family environment .Their team is amazing including a lady named Vanessa there s times that I had questions or concerns and she tried her best to give me answers or help me through my thoughts . Including her and the team all show compassion towards my situation. I never felt judge or talked about after walking out of it. Never underestimate a paralegal because let me tell you, Vanya did her thing and she also showed up for me as a mother and a woman. even on weekends or night she will reach out to me to make sure everything was OK and how my visits were going. And trust me she had to calm me down plenty of times and walk me through the situation . This helped me a great deal to get through this difficult time. another big thing for me was since day one my team always stay the same if Mr. Richie couldn t contact me or make it to any hearings it was Vanya but trust me he was always in the loop and was always pressing, even though he wasn t physically there. I was in the worst situation a new father could find themselves in. I missed the birth of my newborn daughter and hadn t seen her in 4 months. I speak of my experience in a divorce and custody case. I witnessed a revolving door of paralegals, saw multiple requests ignored, and an attorney do less than bare minimum in court. He put up a strong show to get your money and then folded in front of the judge. Seemed as if he was working for the other side. Update: After retaining my new attorney this week. I was reassured the errors and lack of interest from this firm has been validated. Multiple issues. I highly recommend you find another firm to represent you. Shop around and visit with them all. This decision is costly to your wallet and health.

Mr. Derek Ritchie isnt compassionate yet aggressive, trustworthy nor driven, and adaptable to all kinds of people and situations.Mr. Derek Ritchies mislead me through my entire case. When I hired Mr. Derek Ritchies he stated he knew the Judge in courtroom 307 also that his neighbor was best friend with the Judge in 307 and would have my grandson back in my home in 6 months. If not we would do a press conference! Which never happened Mr. Derek Ritchies failure to coordinate crucial appointments, such as meetings with me regarding court hearing mediations trials. Never use evidence in court resulted in additional delays and expenses I received invoices stating I had paid other seniors attorney. Who were working on my case! When I received a copy of my file he had only file one motion and respond to letter from the other parties. Mr. Derek Ritchies disorganization and apparent bias towards me never returned my phone calls nor emails. When I email Mr. Derek Ritchies asking him to file a motion to mofity the original order. I never heard from him there were long wait times for the paralegal to contact you. My phone number was blocked I called from other numbers they block them as well. Unresponsive staff unless its about billing you. Horrible bad customer service, lack of self-service options, and poor product or service quality. Total neglect lack of communication all the way around misrepresentation and dishonesty.

The biggest mistake my daughter made was marrying her now ex-husband. The second biggest was hiring this firm to do her divorce. In 6 months of representation, we never had a single communication from the lawyer. Everything was done with the paralegal. After 4 months of representing her, he still didnt know how to spell her name. There were several other frustrations along the way that I wont go into detail of. Suffice it to say, it was an awful experience at an already emotional time in our lives. The fact that both the Lawyer and paralegal were no longer working at the firm within weeks of her divorce being finalized should tell you enough you need to know about that. We spent the next 4 months trying to register her car here in Florida. Finally got everything needed and found out from the DMV that the VIN number in the divorce decree and POA were incorrect. We needed a form from the court in Texas (Nunc pro tunc) stating it was a clerical error. Called the office to inform them only to be told they could fix it but it was going to cost me. Admittedly, I was not nice when I talked to the managing lawyer (Ms. Cuprit). How do you charge a client to fix a mistake you missed in your filing? I was told that my daughter never caught it either. When I pointed out that was because we trusted the lawyers we were paying thousands of dollars to catch those, I was told ultimately it was her responsibility. And now since her case was closed I had to pay them to file this form. I was told how they were doing it for me at a discounted flat fee as an incentive to do it efficiently and expeditiously. Received one email the next day telling me they had reached out to opposing counsel and she would get back to me by end of day after she heard from them. And then nothing. For TWO weeks. Despite leaving 4-5 messages with the office and writing 4 follow up emails. Literally no communication at all. Spoke to several friends that are lawyers in different states and each told me theyve never charged a client to file this form. Checked online and my research showed the same thing (from Texas attorneys...I have the screenshots to show it). Two lawyers (one in Montana and one in California) even went so far as to tell me I should be filing a complaint with the Texas Bar Association. Since I dont know any lawyers in Texas and my daughters registration was almost expired, I felt I had no choice. I understand if a lawyer/firm that wasnt part of the divorce proceedings were being hired to do this for us....but this was literally the firm we hired and retained for the entire process. So they gave me a deal of correcting this mistake for $500! And when they sent the email requesting payment, suddenly they were very responsive to my emails (20 minutes). If I could give zero stars...I would. If you are looking for a divorce lawyer, hire ANYONE else BUT this firm.

I would not recommend unless u have deep pockets and want to throw money out the window. This Law firm has done nothing but lied to me, embarrassed me, blamed me, wasted money. I wasted thousands of dollars and have 0 to show for it. On top of it all. The case is not over. Had one of his assistant aturnys show up to court in a pink tank top hair in a bun and looked like she just got out of bed. Had the Paralegal try to blame me for hes mistakes and lied to me multiple times. Mr Richie passing my case to everyone els even though he told me he would take care of it personally.

We are filing a grievance to the texas board due to legal malpractice. When we were about to fire Derek Ritchie, he signed orders without informing us or even allowing my husband to agree to them. Put us in a bad spot considering what he signed off too would never of been agreed to by us but since we left that was his parting gift to us. You get a good sense of the law firm when you enter his office. Everyone is very prompt to help you. Mr. Dereck helped me get my child back. Hire and fire for fun, the company dynamic is segregation, and they offer authority to unqualified and undereducated individuals. The professionalism is subpar. The owner performs well as an attorney, even though he s only been barred in America for about 3 years. I would prefer this practice if it had seasoned attorneys on staff, but there is absolutely no likelihood a seasoned attorney would work somewhere like that. Your funds for your case will disappear in days before your eyes. Go with a firm where your needs are the focal, not tedious tasks you will be getting billed for, unlike most locations.

By far the most impressive law office Ive ever been in. The office is conveniently located downtown, easy parking with direct access to the office. Case opened in April 2021/Still pending (as of Jan 2023). *Probate matter* UPDATE: Following my initial review at the beginning of January (below), the firm reached out to apologize and offered to cover the remainder of our case expenses until completion. Since then, they have followed through. I was told the issue was with the probate court, although I could not verify that. Since, I have only been in correspondence with my actual attorney and things have been moving at a faster, more deliberate pace. Gave 3 stars for their effort to make things right, but wish it could have been like this at the start of my representation. Ive been with this firm since April of 2021. Some things went well in the beginning. They were responsive and seemed like they would be there for our family, but unfortunately, poor communication (in all forms), excessive billing, and careless case management became all too prevalent. Clearly not a military-friendly law firm given some of the commentary and treatment I observed. Support and pandering to opposing counsel and repeatedly lied to, as well as belittled by their paralegal. Unprofessional. Asked to keep secrets from my family and other staff members. Rarely dealt with my supposed attorney (their paralegal does all the work), nor was I provided any solid counsel regarding my case (and whether I agreed with certain actions or if alternatives could be discussed). They basically filed motions without explanation, lied to me about the requirements for my case and billed me. Just found out yesterday (via the courthouse) that they made mistakes, lied to me again, and promptly billed me for it. At this point, our family has now grieved the losses of 3 members in less than a year. We are in the middle of yet another PCS move with two small children to raise and a job change. Id like to think they cant be this inhumane towards one family, but I do find myself looking over my shoulder as they strategize a thousand ways to pick my family apart and take any money we have left. I do not post reviews often and am a fairly reasonable person, but this is more than just getting a bad haircut. Advice to others: If youre not a client and care about your family/sanity - AVOID this law firm (especially any military members--they do not care about your timeline/duties). If you are an existing/former client - Document every encounter and interaction. Check the Bexar County portal (registry of actions/smart search often). Please please use this law firm. My only regret is that I did not find them sooner. Murray Lind ability in what he does is almost super natural. My interactions with this person was life changing. The people answering the phone made sure I was taken care of. When you get to a point where you have to hire a lawyer, you are already so emotional destroyed. This law firm understands this! I never give 5 star reviews but in this situation with me being new to SA when this initially happened I was very upset and scared. Upon the initial conversation with Vanessa I had immediate relief in knowing the retainer was gonna be cheap enough specifically after speaking to other law firms. Even tho I feel like the initial day we met with CPS was drug out a bit they still managed to return a small portion of the $1500 retainer which most firms will be sure doesnt happened. I highly recommend this firm. He was tough and the case got dismissed the same day. If I would of faced the issue alone I doubt the same outcome would of happened. Thanks Derek and staff!

I would highly encourage going through anyone else but this law firm. They will drag your case out as long as possible and take your money with no action done. They will give you bad legal advice! They will not help you get child support. They do not care about their clients. They will lie to you at every turn. The only reason he became a lawyer is for the money and not to defend his clients. When you are going through hard times the last thing you want is someone that you hired to help you and keep your children safe lie to you at every turn and milk you for money! This law firm is in it for all the wrong reasons! As a single mother that escaped a domestic violence situation and was desperately seeking help do not turn too Derek Ritchie and his staff! Save yourself a headache and money!! We started out in good terms but they wore my patience thin after all the lies, the run around, and the horrible encounters with their staff. Now I imagine there management team is going to have a response defending themselves which they are entitled too. However, I highly encourage Mothers to hear my advice and seek legal advice elsewhere!

During the initial consultation things were understood and stated that this would be an easy case taking over from a previous attorney that got sick and couldn t finish the case. I even paid half the retainer down when Mr. Ritchie stated it shouldn t be that much anyways and he decided to start in my case with that. First red flag when I log in to zoom and he wasn t there and my case got called. Had to ask the judge to let me find out where he was. Called the office spoke to the paralegal stating he s logging on now things are fine I can log off. From that point on, second red flag, that s all I do is talk to the paralegal who didn t seem to have all the information on my case, as he wasn t there during the initial consultation. I was told Mr. Ritchie is far to busy to take phone calls I d have to schedule an appointment and he absolutely will NOT discuss billing. Funny as he has no problem discussing billing to take on your case from the beginning. Emails and phone calls back and forth add up rather quickly, which I do not entirely agree with, as much was done by the paralegal just to be redone after speaking with Mr. Ritchie like it s my fault they weren t done properly the first time with the paralegal and charging for every instance of back and forth, third red flag. I even called to check the status of the case and was told by the paralegal there s no status update , despite me seeing things publicly filed via the Odyssey Portal online, then was told things were sent over and they didn t have a chance to look at them yet about a week after the fact. If you have endless income and like to waste money go ahead and hire this firm. If not and you re a single parent on a fixed income like myself do yourself a favor and steer clear of this firm.

If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely DO NOT HIRE. Been with them for 6 months with zero progress in my case. Kept milking me for money, paid THOUSANDS for nothing to show for. His paralegal always has the. Worst attitude and will belittle you as if you re less then him. Absolutely disgusting. Hardly ever.
