Mr. Garza & Shay have been incredibly helpful in guiding me through my recent legal matters, where a mentally unstable person stole my 8mo old son, & framed up allegations on me, in attempt to keep me from rescuing my boy. I ve never dealt with the legal system, & really had no clue what to expect. The legal process has taken over a year, but Mr. Garza & Shay have stuck by my family & I, & guided me through the complicated legal process, most importantly, to rescue my son. I would like to express my gratitude to the Soulsby firm. To start I had in my opinion a really complicated geo restrictions case and Kate, June, and Stefanie helped guide me through the process with fantastic communication and more importantly, compassion. Although ultimately outcome was not exactly what I wanted (not due to the Soulsby team) they fought tooth and nail for the best outcome I could have gotten and could live with. They care about your personal finance situation and the entire year and a half I never felt pressured or obligated to continue or put my self in a financial bind if it was not absolutely nessary to my particular case. They also strategized really well and helped guide me through the difficult Decision making process with great advise and support. During my divorce, I had hired 2 different attorneys to represent me that were extremely ineffective. At my divorce, my attorney said she would not represent me when she knew that my ex would not abide by the court order. I was referred to Hector. I made THE BEST DECISION when I hired him. I told Hector during our initial consultation that I had lost all faith in our legal system. My previous attorneys allowed my divorce to drag out over a year, costing me tens of thousands in expenses. Hector said to let him, and his team change my perception. Kate never mentioned anything about splitting claiming the kids on taxes 50/50. Now, every year, I have to beg my ex for the opportunity to claim the kids for tax purposes. This was a pretty glaring omission. Also, she never mentioned going for 50% custody. I know of a lot of men that have 50% custody now, but this seemed less feasible pre-COVID, when teleworking 100% was less common-- but it would have been good if she had at least encouraged that route.

This woman wrote up custody agreement papers for my children and didnt even get my sons date of birth right and my children were to have visits with me which I never received as promised, and my parents completely screwed me over and she helped them do it and because I didnt have enough money for my own family lawyer I had to comply with all the menial stipulations that she so kindly placed in my parents heads. My parents have since realized what she was doing but if youre looking for a family court lawyer and its about rights to your kids, make sure you have your own legal representation. I didnt get my visitation with my kids for an entire decade because of this woman when I complied with every single one of the stipulations made or offered up by her. Ridiculous! Do you really care about children or your retainer fee? What a joke.

I hired attorney Kimberly Hall to represent our family in a complicated parental termination/step-parent adoption case. Not only was Ms. Hall professional and nonjudgmental, but she was also responsive and extremely competent. I also found the rates she charges to be competitive as well. Having your child taken from you based on lies from the other party is heartbreaking, scary, and downright makes you feel like you re going to loose your mind. It s no lie when you hear that child custody fights get dirty, one party tries to keep it clean while the other wants to fight dirty. When I reached out for help at Mrs. Soulsby s office, she made time to see me on the weekend and hear me out. She read the orders stating that I was ordered to hand my child over to the other party and she saw right through the lies from the other party on the statement in the orders. By the time I knew it, there was a court hearing in two weeks and let me tell you, she means business when in court. By the end of the court hearing my child was back in my custody. It was a joyous day for all of us as a family. You d like to think the other party was done after that. Nope, by the time I knew it, CPS was at my door. Again, Mrs. Soulsby was there with my children and me at our sides when CPS was breathing down my neck over false accusations. Never once did she leave me alone to sort things out on my own. Needless to say, the day we all sat down with the CPS caseworker, it was made clear the accusations were false. When it came down to my child s psychological safety she fought tooth and nail to be my child s voice in court. Mrs. Soulsby did not back down that day in court, she made sure my child had a voice. Come to mediation time, Mrs. Soulsby had everything down. I didn t know anything what was going on, she had to explain to me what mediation meant when we were there. When your child is taken from you based off of lies you have that constant fear, it doesn t matter how many times Mrs. Soulsby explained things to me, I would be freaking out, she would have to talk to me and reassure me she wouldn t let anyone take my child away from me again. Mrs. Soulsby isn t fearful at all, she knows what she is doing, and I needed to remind myself that I wasn t alone. Frank Gonzalez assisted in the child support hearings. He proved the other party made more income than what is reported and I was happy with what the judge ordered was fair for my child s medical and child support. Mind you less than a year later we were back in court for child support, Mrs. Soulsby made sure that my child not lose what was ordered from the first child support hearing. Soulsby Law Office has always been there for my family. Mrs. Soulsby knows that as a single mother it s hard sometimes to have the full amount to pay her and works with me. She has represented my family and me when I had nothing. I am and will forever be grateful for every single person in the Soulsby Law Office, Kate, Frank, Chris, June, Stephanie, and Kim. They re not family, but they sure feel like they are. They have seen me at my worse and helped me fight when I thought I had no more fight in me. I ve never been in trouble with the law, the child custody fight was my first time ever going through anything legally and everything was very scary. Mrs. Soulsby was always there by my side, telling me everything was ok, she d see me shaking, voice cracking cause I was always on the verge of a breakdown, but she was there. She has been a constant through the whole process. I can t see anyone else representing me in anything, Mrs. Soulsby has always made me feel safe and not just anyone can do that when it comes to keeping your family together.

Kate has been on my child custody case for almost two years because of filed motion after motion from the other party. She has showed up to represent me even when funds were not present to pay at the moment because of her level of commitment and loyalty to my case. She is highly confident and competent and knows how to get the facts across professionally. I realize the importance of needing a skilled attorney to represent you in life changing important matters. I have been dealing with a VERY complex definitely not your average child custody case that has been going on almost 4 years now its always getting pushed back or at a stand stilI have retained attorney after attorney. Some didnt really seem to care about my case, some were afraid of the opposing counsels attorney, didnt want to take my case because of the complexity of it, or some were just simply not educated. When I started looking for a new attorney at the beginning of the year, I came across Kate Soulsbys firm. From the moment I called her and explained my case she sounded VERY confident, and made me feel like it was the right decision to go with her. She has always been available, communicates very effectively and quickly. Everyone who works with her are very attentive and hard workers just like her. Kimberly Hall, June Maldonado, and Stephanie, are all respectful and kind. Kate was the first attorney that Ive had that was not intimidated but the opposing parties attorney as my previous attorneys were. I was referred to Kate Soulsby by another very good lawyer, because he only did arbitration. I was in a situation where I needed someone to fight to protect my son and myself. I had a very complex custody modification and post divorce asset issue and the Soulsby law firm was always there to help me and was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I worked with Frank and Kate and they were awesome especially in court, which makes the biggest difference in a case. At the end of the day I ended up with primary custody of the children, and being a father, that s not easy here in Texas. I also received 50% of the post divorce assets. I would definitely recommend the Soulsby Law Firm to anyone in a tough custody battle. And I would use them again. They also worked with me on a payment plan, that was very reasonable and very helpful. Thank you for everything.

Thus far, I dont recommend this attorney because it is not veteran friendly. Ive called repeatedly to be contacted, and have yet to hear anything. This attorney has abused the justice system for a transfer of venue. The law states, 20 days. She lied in court and said it was timely. I know this because. am a certified paralegal, and somewhat know the law. During role call of the docket, the jidge allows time for the attorneys to confer. However Kate didnt approach me, as time allowed. We just went straight to court on the motion to transfer venue. She is also putting all cost on me, a disabled Texas Veteran. I know she doesnt represent me, but I feel she should have done her homework on who the other side is.

Custody cases are difficult for all clients and during these times one truly needs a caring, dedicated, and knowledgeable attorney. My husband and I found those qualities in Kate and we are eternally grateful to have crossed paths during our time of need with all the Soulsby Law Firm employees. Our case was a difficult one, in my option, with court proceeding lasting two entire weeks with a jury present. My husband initially had limited contact with his daughter prior to the trial, as the mother exhausted all measures to keep my husband away from her. I write this with all honesty and high regard to the Soulsby Law Firm. This is the first time I had been involved in any family custody case or been exposed to any of these proceedings. Everyone was very patient and understanding at all times. I will admit, I was frustrated sometimes and did not see the whole picture. No one ever lost patience with me, but continued to provide support for me. Our case was not typical or by far simple. There were a lot of variables with even attempts of termination of my rights. Never did anyone at the firm get discouraged or try to take the easy road. When we got close to starting trial and at the beginning of it, I saw the dynamics of the firm at work. Not of a few, but of the entire firm. They worked seamlessly as a unit to accomplish the goals set each day. The experience of each individual, to include the separate talents of each, solidify and make the firm even stronger. From the total experience accumulated by Kate and Frank ,as the attorneys, was indispensable. The persistence and brilliance of their paralegal June and the added knowledge of other angles by Chris who is a licensed social worker made each effort greater. I absolutely love Kate! Cant say enough positive things about this woman! When I say she fights tooth n nail for you, she really does. I will forever be in this womans debt. Ms. Soulsby was hands down the most patient and hard working lawyer I have ever dealt with. I was in a very difficult situation with my ex husband and needed a protective order. Kate not only walked me through the entire process, and explained every detail, but she was able to negotiate new terms for child custody. Kate even met me on a Sunday to prepare for court the next day. Every single person in the office is an absolute pleasure to deal with, and made me feel safe. Kate Soulsby is the best child custody lawyer in San Antonio hands down. I am a single Dad of two beautiful children.
