I highly recommend Cramp Law Firm. Military divorces are really specialized. There are special forms and filings and a lot of it is time sensitive. Jim Cramp is an expert in this. He took over my case from an attorney who kept making mistakes and costing me extra money. Once he started on it he got it all resolved quickly. I dont live in San Antonio, and he still took my case. Even if you are divorcing in another state Jim Cramp could probably give you excellent advice. Lastly, he was really responsive. I never had to wait long for answers. I always got a same day response.

After my initial divorce attorney made a huge mistake, Jim came in after, reopened the case and resolved the matter. He communicates effectively and efficiently and is great with the ins and outs of military divorce. Hire him from the start and make sure the job gets done right.

Mr. Jim Cramp is THE ABSOLUTE BEST!! I called him and explained that I needed a clarifying order as the wording on our decree was not accepted by DFAS. He gave me a detailed explanation of how it can be accomplished .all this before I even retained him! He was so nice and put me at ease while he took the time to listen and help! I met with him the next day to retain him and he started on my case without delay. He kept me informed through every step of the process and answered all of my questions with patience, compassion, and understanding. If you have a military issue in which you are dealing with DFAS and need an informed lawyer who will take the time to ensure it is right .CALL MR. JIM CRAMP! I guarantee 110% that you will be very happy with his vast knowledge and understanding of the law as it pertains to the former spouse award for military retirement. I honestly can t say enough about Mr. Cramp because he s THAT good! His fees are very reasonable and his many years of experience are very obvious. If there was a 6/5 stars I would give it a 6 star review. Hands down best lawyer I have ever worked with!! Being active duty and station overseas is already a challenge and having to file for divorce with different time zones made it even more difficult But Jim and his team took great care of me, my case, they were helpful and understanding of my situation. - Jim, being a veteran himself understood the challenges that come with being in the military and also being overseas, they were very patient with me due to the time zone differences. - Jim and his team literally took care of everything!! all I had to do was provide the documents requested, the information that needed to be filled out and wait for them to get the job done. Which was outstanding! I was informed of the plan, execution and the time frame on everything! Literally everything!! - the team sets an account for you online and you can access your documents there. You can upload or download documents from any electronic device. Also message his team or himself at any time with any questions or answers. Which made it super easy to send or receive and print documents! - I work in the medical field, when I told one of my doctors I was getting a divorce he told me to go to him for anything if I needed help because from his clinical knowledge, divorces are one of the most stressful things a human being can go through in their lifetime. Without a doubt Jim and his team took great care of me and made a very stressful situation very easy to deal with. **-before inquiring Jim and the Cram Law Firm team I had talked to three other lawyers and they weren t helpful at all plus they had no experience dealing with military personnel and they just didn t understand the situation and the challenges being overseas. The legal team offered to me by the military was somewhat helpful but I left their office with more questions than when I first walked in there. I felt discouraged and helpless. Until I emailed Jim and once I told him my situation he already had a whole plan layout for my divorce, it was a relief!! Thank you very much to Jim and his team! You guys did an amazing job. I can NOT recommend Cramp Law Firm, PLLC nor his team to anyone. I needed an attorney that was knowledgeable in ex spousals receiving retired active duty members retirement. I specifically needed to provide to DFAS a Clarifying Order Award to accompany the paperwork I had already provided in a 90 day time frame. Upon speaking with Eileen, James Cramps assistant, she reassured me Mr. Cramp was very knowledgeable in this process given the fact the reason I contacted this office because Mr. Cramp was a retired Colonial in the USAF. I contacted this office speaking with Eileen June 9, 2020 and emailed all of the documents she needed to pass on to Mr. Cramp. To keep the story short since that date I have had to call the office to check on status and this is what I was provided/explained by Eileen : #1 A week later I called to check the status, Mr. Cramp answers the phone. He says Eileen was at the post office. I asked if he had received my information which he had not. Mr. Cramp asked me to explain briefly what my case was about. I explained. He said he has done many of these cases and will get my information from Eileen once she gets back from the post office. #2 Per Eileen - I apologize Nikki my computer crashed. If you could re-email me the documents again and provide me with your phone number. Sure I said. I will email you to confirm I have received. and she did ..my thoughts, computer crashing has nothing to do with emails sent, should still be in the email, right?!!? #3 About two weeks later I called to inquire again the status. Eileen explains, Oh yes Nikki, we are just getting back into the office due to Mr. Cramp being admitted into the hospital for a heart condition. I am now in the office three days a week rather than the normal two days a week. I have printed out your paper work and will give to Mr. Cramp ASAP. #4 Per Eileen - Nikki I have printed out your paper work and will give to Mr. Cramp ASAP. she verified my contact information again and said she will email me with updated information. #5 TODAY - A week and half later, I called to ask the status. Once again Eileen said, I have printed your information and will give to Mr. Cramp. I said I have two concerns one being getting the Clarifying Order submitted to DFAS is time sensitive, I have 90 days. Second, since she mentioned again Mr. Cramps health issues and he is also working on other cases in her best opinion should I go with another attorney given the fact that I am having to call the office for updates and he is busy catching up. Unless I can get a phone call from Mr. Cramp for updates. Hoping I would feel the assurance that he at least have my paperwork. Eileens response was, You do what you feel you need to do with a rude tone with no other comment to follow. I said ok and ended the call. From my perspective I can not honestly say Mr. Cramp is doing a bad job because I am not sure if he has my paperwork. I fully sympathize with his health concerns. I also fully understand if he is now backed up due to being hospitalized. I will not put any pressure on him for my own selfish reasons or concerns. HOWEVER, Eileen, his assistant is doing a disservice to Mr. Cramps law firm. I feel she has not handed my paperwork to Mr. Cramp and I feel she does not have the best interest of Mr. Cramps clients.

As challenging is it to go through a divorce, I will say I made the best decisions to have Jim Cramp by my side. Jim was extremely professional, knowledgable, and personable. Being an active duty member, it was important to have someone who previous served and understood my situation. Jim Cramp also was a great sounding board not only for legal advice, but also in providing sound life advice as a went through this new chapter in my life. Jim and Eileen have been great through whats been a very difficult process. Jim picked up my case from another attorney that was completely unresponsive. Jim and Eileen unfortunately had to work (and are still working) through a situation with little to no cooperation. Lots of stalling and trying to hold up the process. While it made for a lot of unnecessary work and made things go a lot longer than needed Jim and Eileen kept plugging away and got everything handled. I cant say enough about the professionalism and work ethic of Jim and Eileen. If youre in need of a divorce attorney Jim and Eileen will take care of you and ensure things go as well as possible for you. I cant recommend them enough.

Solid information on the website reflecting the in depth knowledge of division of military retirement pay in divorce of military households created a strong foundation of credibility with me. Jim responded quickly to my inquiry and immediately was able to break down how DFAS had made their calculations of the former military spouses award based on the wrong formula placed in the DRO by my exs lawyer. His ability to verbally articulate everything that I had already discovered in my own defense, leading up to a hearing I had recently lost by representation from a less qualified lawyer, instantly resonated with me that HE could get a judge to hear my truth. I had given up finding anyone that could represent what I knew about DROs and was searching the internet to see what I would have to submit to the court to get DFAS to make the adjustment from my retirement pay. I found that I would need a clarifying order and this search led me to Jims website. Once I obtained Jims services and began using his case software, I was assured I was working with a professional and he earned my trust with every encounter we had via phone, on line and in person. We went back to court and he was able to get the judge to understand what my previous lawyer failed to communicate and I was cleared of the false allegations. I cant thank him enough for clearing my case up in court.

Jim and Eileen did an excellent job in picking up my case after it stalled with a previous attorney. I found them to be responsive to my questions and they aggressively moved my divorce forward quickly after taking it over. Jim was always available to speak with me to address my concerns and questions. Very knowledgeable and competent with divorce proceedings and with all aspects of a military divorce. James and Mathew were absolute professionals. Not only that they actually cared about my situation. My divorce was ugly, pertaining to a custody battle with my Ex. My wife made my daughter a pawn in the divorce and both James and Matt took her out of that situation and put her in a much better, loving home. The Cramp Law Firm is top notch! Mr. Cramp is extremely knowledgeable concerning family law, especially when it comes to military families. He did not mislead us at all, he was upfront and honest about what we could expect going into divorce court. There are a lot of attorneys in San Antonio that profess to have knowledge of the military but I found that to not be the case. Mr. Cramp certainly knows and was extremely efficient as well! Family legal matter I wanted to get resolved was declared out of the jurisdiction of the local court by one of the lawyer I met (before meeting Jim) and I totally lost hope. But while doing online research, I noticed Jims very informative and professional legal advise to an internet user who had issue identical to mine in an internet forum. Well, I was so impressed that I called Jim next day and scheduled an appointment ( He didnt made me wait for in-person meeting appointment at all) and descibed my case to him which he heard with patience and gave me enough time to explain my situation and documentation. One time fixed fee was decided (which BTW, I found very reasonable for the services he provided) and an online account was created in Jims website though which we exchanged masseges and documents very efficiently thoughout the procceding. Jim got my matter resolved in minimum possible time and I never had to take time off from work to either meet Jim in his office or even to appear in the court ( now that was awesome !). Thanks to Jims legal expertise and very professional and super ethical conduct because of which my family related legal issue has been successfully resolved in a fast track manner without buring a hole in my pocket. Roughly a month before my divorce cases final hearing, and realizing the futility of taking on my wifes divorce lawyer pro se, I conducted a search for a military divorce attorney. Mr. Cramps military divorce blog caught my eye and after finding his contact information, I drove straight over. Mr. Cramp and his law clerk Eileen were very assuring and compassionate. Having taken on my case on short notice, not only did he preserve the majority of the assets Id accumulated over the years, he protected me from groundless accusations in court that would surely have caused irreparable damage to my character had they become a part of the proceedings record.

One of the hardest times of my life Jim and Matt went above and beyond when it came to my case. While there were times I became frustrated with the opposing counsel they made sure to help me make an informed decision when it came to legal issues, and to tell me when it wasnt worth it.
