The photo I attached makes this place look like a blast, right? Not anymore, apparently. At one point, I believed Zombies Bar was a place where different people could come together and embrace their differences. Unfortunately, I no longer think this the case. The owners seem to have become judgmental, contradicting the open-mindedness they used to show. Theres a recent trend at bars where if you fail a vibe check theyll jump on the first reason that can get rid of you that sounds good. Anyone older than 30 knows this is farcical because people get OBLITERATED at bars; guys will do karaoke barely able to enunciate and owners dont **really** care. The first time I ever saw this was in Austin, when I yelled at a violent driver and the bar said I was overserved when this was physically impossible. When I explained what they were doing my friend from NYC was like WHAT? Why didnt they just say that? because bar owners in Texas use this lifehack to avoid being sued, or to avoid explaining themselves. Its disappointing that Zombies has shifted in this direction. I can no longer, in good faith, recommend this bar to anyone, especially knowing that if you show up appearing weird like I am as I write this review you might get banned. This trend of bars banning their regulars for failing vibe checks is despicable and I thought Zombies would be better. Whoevers decision to throw me under the bus was undoubtedly influenced by a beef two months prior with a privileged white hetero influencer chick. (And if you believe Im secretly someone with a record of driving under the influence, do a background check on me and see how many moving violations Ive had in 18 years. You may be shocked that in graduate school, I was once a Bad Boy and made a right turn too fast at a stop sign! So, yes , the staff will say it was because of intoxication. This is optics. Lets do optics: This review was written at 1:38AM and they made their decision at approximately 11PM. There are no drugs with a half life so short which, in 2.5 hours , would incapacitate me in any problematic way. (Again, this is just part of the rather unfortunate strategy used by duplicitous bars.) Run this review through whatever favorite AI program you have, ask it for an IQ estimate, and compare that estimate to literally every other review here. What is the likelihood that the most articulate review of Zombies would be from a person they ejected for being inarticulate 160 minutes prior? The use-case of Zombies was recording myself doing karaoke. But now that Ive done that enough, and wiped all content involving this bar from my social media, I can just go to Guitar Center and buy a microphone, and get more views on my TikTok anyway. So, thanks for the two years. But since your opinion of me can change so quickly, it s clear that your loyalty to regulars isnt as strong as it seems. The frequent vacancies in Zombies parking lot, along with the jello shot of crowds before Thursday or Friday, make me wonder if youre in line once weed is finally legalized in Texas and your CBD grift falls. Whatever the reason you decided to sever ties with me, I believe this review which many students would struggle to match even with adderall and coffee is sufficient proof that your overcorrection is a mistake. Zombies was a great place. Past tense. It offers unique anime-themed drinks and syringe cocktails, but now caters to the whims of misguided patrons and people influenced by the straight edged fitness influencer trend. Everyone is a customer, after all; we re all patrons of the economy. So, while it pains me to say this, since I know I m no longer welcome there you shouldn t villainize people who once thought highly of you. I loved this bar. Thank you for making it clear I cant call any bar in San Antonio home. This is a two-star review for the two years of fond memories I ve had, but knowing youd resort to the same duplicity as mainstream bars means my treatment of you will be proportionate. Im erasing any idea that you ever existed in my world.

We are here visiting from OKC. We are a horror obsessed family and this was BY FAR the highlight of our weekend!! The horror/zombie decor is AMAZING!!! Drinks are very reasonably priced and so fitting for the bar. Huge place , in love , wish it was closer to us because we would be spending all of our free time here.

New bouncer said I can t use my DPS issued paper ID (been to this bar multiple times, had my med insurance license that had matching name and dob as paper ID) and said it was a tabc rule even tho I ve also had my tabs certification when I was a bar tender and waitress and it was not a rule, and have used paper ID at liquor stores and corner stores. Other than that great bar, rly sweet bar tenders and a fun atmosphere.

The bartender was 5/5, the cool vibe and atmosphere was 5/5, the awesome drink menu is a 5/5, but well never be returning for karaoke. It destroyed the whole experience for us. The KJ (putting quotes, because theres no way this guy should be grouped with other professionals) was ridiculous. Is he a nice guy? Sure, but theres ZERO attempt to mix people in. Half the female singers we couldnt hear over the music, and half the male singers were so loud you were clenching because they werent balanced. It was so sad to see because they had some really talented singers in there who probably think this is good karaoke (and based on the reviews that brought us in, it looks like were right). This bar could be a great karaoke spot if theyd get a professional in there. The guy was using his phone to track singers (weve been here before and he was doing it last time trying to claim his computer went down... again.) The karaoke software used keeps rotations even if it crashes, so... why is a phone being used to track sign ups? My party was completely skipped after a hour and a half of waiting to sing. Definitely go here for the awesome drinks and fun vibes - worth it for that!

*Updated* Female Bar Owner is EXTREMELY unprofessional and disrespectful to patrons. Ive never heard so much toxic gossip as I did in that 5 minutes waiting to order a drink. Its completely disgusting to hear a bar OWNER, not just a bartender, belittling her own patrons to others. Aside from that the karaoke is far too loud but alright, small bar without much room, so nowhere to dance and only one pool table which is usually taken all night. Atmosphere is very full of drama, fights, parking lot altercations, no respect for safety, drugs are pretty common and sold by multiple younger patrons. Patron average age is all mid to young 20s so a very high school goth group feel. All in all if youre into a small, loud, dramatic, very loner group type, emo/horror theme vibe with a bar owner who keeps tabs on you and treats patrons with anger and annoyance at the turn of the hours than this is the place to go. 0 stars isnt an option but this is definitely a bar I wouldnt recommend. Many other clean, safe, professional bars around San Antonio with similar themes and better sound systems/owners/bartenders and a dance floor to boot! *Update, as you can clearly see by the response to an honest review that the owner has 0 respect and is not patron friendly, as bad reviews will happen and should be handled professionally. It seems like every bad review you receive on Google pertains to the female bar owner so general consensus would say its a problem. As you can read in most honest reviews that are negative that the reviewer is no longer allowed to go. This bar has caused its own decline as its not even a hotspot in SA anymore.

My go to for Karaoke in San Antonio. The bartenders seem to love what they do, as they are always attentive and eager to help you choose your drinks if you re unsure about what you want. The singers are plenty, and most everyone sings multiple songs so make sure to get on the list as early as you can. The KJ will always accommodate any last minute changes so dont worry if you have a change of heart. See you there! -King Louie

Zombies is the place to be! From nightly Karoke, to scary movies always playing on the TVs, you cant go wrong with Zombies. The food is like any other bar food but still satisfies. Drinks can get a little pricy depending on what you are drinking. I highly recommend the hot cider with fireball whiskey. There is plenty to do while you are there. The atmosphere is any horror film buffs dream. The staff is always friendly and loves to have a good time with patrons. Make sure to stop in and see Heather, Steve, and Destiny soon! Parking: When Zombies opens at 8 the immediate spots by the door are sectioned off as outdoor seating, otherwise there is a whole parking lot to pick from. My friends wanted to do karaoke so we found Zombies Bar! The horror-themed decorations are great! And theres multiple TV screens playing horror movies and even a section for a couple of arcade games if youre not in the mood for karaoke. The environment is super chill and supportive, as I would normally never sing in front of strangers. My friends and I waited about an hour until it was our turn. It was a lot of fun! Taking off one star because I thought the ladies restroom couldve been more clean. And the stall door didnt have a handbag hook.

Absolutely love this place! Went for the first time last night and had their blood bag and infected bag which were super amazing! The bartender was super nice and even helped immediately when the bathroom wasnt working. At the end of the night I left my card and messaged them on Facebook to which they got back to me quickly. The bartender was nice enough to try and chase my car but sadly didnt get to me in time. We even went back the next night and had an awesome time again. The Butter Beer is absolutely amazing and the hot cheeto with cheese and Chilli was pretty good and worth it. Definitely will be returning for more! Parking: There is ample parking since its in the business lot and the business are closed for the day.

I love this bar. I used to go often, and then I moved an hour away. Last night I came to town for my graduation celebration with all of my old friends and I immediately knew where I wanted to go! I LOVE the drinks here. They have the biggest cocktail menu I ve seen in SATX, from Harry Potter themed shots, spiked hot chocolates, horror and gore themed drinks like their Blood Bags and Specimen Cups (both delicious, and you get to take the cup home), and even a delicious painkiller. I also LOVE that they have 151!! I am a longtime service industry worker and a cocktail snob and I always LOVE my drinks here. I usually get some of their snacks while I m there, and they even have games and karaoke which i always love. Everything is so reasonably priced, which leaves more money for me to tip the wonderful staff. Every time I ve been here their staff has been friendly, fast, and fun. I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Heather, and she was such a delight and so accommodating and celebratory of my special day! I also found out they also just opened a smoke shop right next door and I can t wait to check it out. And lastly, I couldn t not mention that the zombie themed decor, down to zombie movies on the tv, is soooo badass and fun to look at. 10/10 environment. And there s always parking! I wish they had an Austin location so I could go more often! San Antonio is so lucky to have this gem.

Wow this place is a real treat! Went into the bathrooms and freaked out for a minute. Bloody (paint of course) handprints everywhere! Girls kind of laughed when I walked in and took a deep breath. Corpses hanging from the ceiling and zombies everywhere. My boyfriend told me they play the walking dead here....love zombie movies. Someone was singing karaoke on the stage...really good. The stage is amazing, platform high up for bands and singing. Will come back and stay longer than 10 minutes next time. Have to look up and see everything hanging from the ceiling..,Bahahaha made me scream inside.

Dropped in for karaoke on a Saturday night and it was so fun! Kind bartenders and KJ host. Fun crowd that supported each other when others sang. As I have recently quit drinking after many years, they have a full non alcoholic menu to choose from. Smoke shop right next door and have the top brands at competitive pricing. I had a great time at Zombies even though I dont drink alcohol, like horror or sing karaoke lol. The bartender, Steve, was super welcoming and the menu had a great selection of NA options. The decor is wild and I expected all metal music, but they played a bit of everything! The karaoke was really fun, the host was awesome and everyone was a good sport. This is MOM and DADS place to escape! We drop off the brats then circle back around to have some beers and feel like we did before all of the chauffeuring around of the talking back heads! Its a pretty sweet spot to do karaoke Friday through Sunday. The staff are pretty cool and they are very attentive. Karaoke DJ is also a pretty cool dude and he has a good list of song options for every genre. He does a good job of getting the crowd into it. It can get pretty busy so you cant sign up for a second or third song until after you sing your song so sometimes you only go the once on busier days, twice if your lucky. DJ does his best to give everyone an opportunity to do their song.

Wow, words really cannot describe the aesthetician and vibe you get when you visit this establishment. Zombies is the premier horror themed bar in San Antonio. Tucked away in an outlet on thousand oaks, Zombies specializes in catering to the darker crowd of bar patrons. With karaoke in full abundance, zombies has a big selection for anyone wanting to sing to their hearts content. Heather and Steve really do provide an amazing safe haven for any and everyone. They also have signature cocktails and shots that are guaranteed to get you where you want to be! I highly recommend checking out their plasma and blood bags...I hear theyre made with real human specimens...mmmm....

This place used to be the BEST. I can t remember her name but the owners wife. Ever since she left it s not the same. Me and my husband used to come ALL THE TIME and recently we decided to give it another shot and to say we re disappointed. The service at the bar was mediocre, the bartenders were snotty and rude, not personable. Unfriendly. The place was really dirty as well. The owner is a sweetheart but needs to buckle down on his employees and standards

The gruesome decorations make it seem like its Halloween year round and the specialty drinks (served in blood bags, syringes and specimen cups) offer more of a macabre flair to the bar. You can even catch a horror movie playing on multiple TVs. And if youre lucky youll get served by Heather, easily one of the best bartenders in town. Even when short staffed and/or on a busy weekend she quickly provides delicious drinks with a genuine smile and great attitude. Even if blood and guts arent your thing you definitely need to check this place out.

Great atmosphere, awesome crowd, amazing drinks, and most importantly compassionate owners. The owners of this mom and pop bar (Steve and Heather) and staff work so hard to make the atmosphere perfect for their guests. They have amazing decor, a few games to play and challenge yourself with friends, and karaoke! Originally my friend and I were apprehensive about fitting in at a heavy-metal bar but apparently google wont let them change their description. The decor is horror themed and they play horror flicks on the tvs; it s honestly a super fun horror-themed karaoke bar! Everything from Chevelle and Slipknot to Adele, to even songs from Grease! A little worried about singing in public? Not a problem, the crowd is singing along with you and hyping you up the whole performance! Are you perhaps new to drinking cocktails or maybe just looking for something different to try? Their website has a list of drinks and shots with their contents, not to mention some super sick merch! My friend had a bit too much to drink and both Heather and Steve genuinely went above and beyond to make sure that both of us were okay and got home safely. I ve never met such caring bar owners. We love you guys and hope to come back again!

I used to love this place, so it makes me upset to have to write this review. My daughter just turned 21 and my friend has never been here. He was interested in the blood bags. We got there got our drinks and sat down. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the people. My daughter was going to try karaoke for the first time. So I find her up and there were like six people in front of us. About 10 people later we started wondering when we were. She was excited and nervous and anxious. I went to close out my tab only to find out there was a 25% tax added to each drink. Two blood bags should have been $24 not $28.74. and on top of that there was a convenience fee added. So I headed back to the table and the DJ made an announcement that they hit the end of the list and they were starting over. So I went to go check on our place in line and there were like 15 people ahead of us again. So not only was I overcharged my daughters first experience at attempting karaoke in front of people was ruined. I dont think Ill ever come back here.

First timer after visiting San Antonio so many times. This place is actually really nice I love horror movies and enjoy thrillers. Zombies obviously fit the criteria. Bartenders rock, are attentative, and mindful of their customers. A nice, laid back , karaoke with bar games, and good aura. Will return

The bartenders are amazing! The atmosphere is phenomenal! Its a sweet little hole in the wall bar with over 70 beers on order and heck of a drink menu. Its horror themed, and just a fun time. Ill definitely be back since the people were amazing and the drinks delicious!

We came into town for a night on our anniversary, looking up bars around town we decided to come here. It was Friday night so they were doing karaoke, had a great time, some really good singers, fun atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we make it to San Antonio! Sooooo, originally our plan was to go to a haunted house, but we re chickens So the next best thing was DEFINITELY a Zombie themed bar Heather was our bartender and she was absolutely AMAZING ! The Blood Bags are a MUST and after a few soaked cherries , a green tea urine shot, and a couple antidote syringe shots it was a great time! The karaoke crowd was there on a Thursday too! Great DJ and everyone is so willing to support anyone who decides to sing It made the experience even better ! Can t wait to be back , no matter what time of year it is !
