Came here for the first time and oh my god was it amazing. The female bartender made the drinks better than the guys. I m sorry !! lol but she did and they were phenomenal. We didn t get food just drinks. But the staff was great. The only down fall was the girls next to us all loud but hey it s a bar of course they re going to be. I shall return because oh my god was it ever so good.

Racist owners 0 stars. I used to love going to this place after work but last night the owners of the bar were there and were extremely racist towards me and my friends. THE OWNERS! My friend and I were simply speaking Spanish in the restroom and a woman started spewing hate saying this is America we speak English and why are y all always so loud we later were told when we made a complaint that she was part of ownership . I never thought this would happen let alone in an establishment where we ve never had a problem before the staff and my friends have always gotten along extremely well but for the owners to be that way brought the establishment down. If this is what the owners are like what example is that for your staff and patrons. Absolutely disrespectful and disgusting

A great spot for excellent service and drinks. The drink menu is top notch! The bartenders are mixologists and I love to watch them create masterpieces. It s truly an experience. Spencer was our bartender and provided me recommendations that hit the spot. The tacos after midnight are very flavorful. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!

dead on a friday night - asked for service, got skipped and finally got our drinks after 30 minutes fully staffed bar but they have all the time to talk amongst themselves and ignore customers. my partner and i thought it was funny to watch them all do a whole lot of nothing - you know, when you re just looking busy so that the manager doesnt call you out. They stood in groups talking, polishing the same glass over and over and over again, urgently rearranging random bartop supplies every 10 minutes, lights went up at 1:40 AM, They definitely hated everyone for still being in the bar before closing if you hate your job, just quit lol Update in response to the man-child: As if it wasnt already obvious, no we definitely will not be back lmfao i promise And yes kiddo it was dead. All the booths were empty when we came, and the bartop was maybe 3/4 filled. i guess thats busy for yall To anyone else reading this: I wish i was joking, but I said what I said. My guess is the barstaff wanted to go home already and were too tired to give any real service by the last part of their shift. It was truly hilarious to watch them do the gymnastics of ignoring customers by being too busy with closing sidework As a San Antonio native, take your money to George s Keep or even Green Lantern instead.

Avoid this place at all cost! Had been so excited to go and went on 06/16 to meet my friend for a drink after work. Was seated at the bar and when I ordered a second drink was told by the bartender he was informed that I was cut off . I was respectful to the staff the entire time I was there, was seated at the bar having a conversation with my friend and then night got ruined. I respectfully requested why as I did nothing wrong and then replied , you have to go. No explanation, but gladly charged my credit card !!! What a scam !!!

Someone at the outside table lit a joint, the bouncer came to our table and kicked everyone out even though there was one person smoking.He took my drink off the table which I paid for 2 old fashioned for me and a friend and didnt even get to drink them. I try to go inside and get my phone and he would not let me do that either. I wasnt even offered my money back and this was truly embarrassing. I always have a delightful time at the Rock and Rye! Stumbled upon it when finding bars to try out on my 21st, and have been going ever since! Awesome drinks, kind bartenders, and wonderful atmosphere, the Rock and Rye is a 10/10 in all fields. My personal favorite has to be the Blue Grass Fizz, but I ve never had a drink that didn t hit the spot. Same goes for the small plates. Whether it s for a casual drink or a large outing with friends, the Rock and Rye is absolutely my favorite spot in San Antonio!

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My team of 22 staple clinics in the San Antonio area will never step foot in your establishment or any of your affiliates. You all were rude, inflexible, and didn t even give my team the time of day to explain our concerns. I would alert any major company to look the other way when dealing with this place of business because they will not even listen to your concerns. It s actually very sad. Zero stars. Never coming back and definitely not bringing our business back to this establishment.

The drinks here are very interesting. It took me a while to read through their entire drink menu, since they add little history info on the description. I loved the drink the wet one it was made of gin and slightly sweet. We came here on a friday night until close. I only took one star off the service because our server did take a little long to bring our drinks, and when she finally brought them out she had forgotten to put one in. The atmosphere is very loud and dark. We had a nice time here!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I had a temporary drivers license because I just lost my mine. I showed the bouncer my legal paper temporary licenses issued by the DMV and he made me show him my credit cards and Costco card and a picture of my original ID. Then he said said to come in and proceeded to ask someone else to verify my paper ID and the other person didnt even bother to even look at it. She rudely just denied. If a police officer were to stop me at any time they would take it because its a legal document. Overall, if they had their policys he couldve just denied me and not had me show them all my personal information. The bouncer asked to see my credit card and Costco card. I did not ask him if I could show him.

Took some co-workers for some pre-dinner happy hour drinks on a Thursday night. We were able to find four seats at the bar. The bartenders were excellent. Some in my group were unfortunately a little obnoxious. Yet our bartender was so gracious and didnt let their comments ruffle them. After dinner next door, our whole group wanted to go back. So we went back and grabbed a table for a couple more drinks. My favorite was the spicy tequila shots. I enjoyed the mule as well. They offer some couch type seating, large outdoor patio, booths, high tops for large groups and plenty of bar seating. Prices were very reasonable and it had a great mildly rustic warehouse type vibe. But still very polished. I would absolutely return.

This place is a cool little joint! Their drink menu included tons of delicately curated combinations full of unique and interesting flavors. The atmosphere was calm and lively, yet almost a little upscale. Not your typical bar! The bartender suggested a drink he created that tasted like a banana split. It was delicious but too strong for my taste but I finished it and called it a night after that one drink. I ordered two picadillo tacos after midnight which really hit the spot! I arrived early on a Friday and the bar was completely filled so I stepped to the side of the bar to order a round of drinks. Dom the bartender rudely screamed we don t take orders on the side of the bar . I stepped towards the crowded bar and behind everyone I said ok can I order from here? He screamed again pointing at the bar here is where you need to order if you want to get served he looked very agitated and upset. Then he yells what do you need? At that point I no longer wanted to have him serve me so I asked his peer to open my tab. I tipped his peer $100 and said to Dom you are the rudest bar tender I have ever encountered. He smiled as if it was a compliment. I m a grown professional adult and to be yelled at by a college kid as if I was a toddler was not only uncalled for and rude but something I as a business owner would not tolerate from any of my employees towards customers. Therefor I attempted to let Steve the manager know about the situation and his response was just as bad as Dom. He said well don t order from the side of the bar and just walked away as I was still talking. Worst service and rudest staff ever. I ll take my business elsewhere.

We have been to this bar many times. It is now our go to with friends or for a date night. Bartenders are kind and not snooty. They love to answer questions. WARNING: Dont come here if you have foreign friends or loved ones, or if youre just generally a good person. Some good friends of mine came here for a birthday party and one of them happened to be from outside of the country. She had a VALID ID and passport, but was turned away at the door before she could even present them because the man checking IDs said No foreigners allowed! When they spoke up and said she has a valid passport the doorman insisted no foreigners allowed. Hard to believe places like this still exist, but if you dont believe me check out the reviews for yourself. From what I can see, lots of white people in the profile pics of the good reviews and everyone else seems to have extremely negative and rude experiences. When my friends left their reviews of this experience the owner tried to accuse them of wanting to hurt local businesses, so here are my recommendations of local bars that are 100% better than Rock and Rye AND HAVENT REFUSED SERVICE BECAUSE OF SOMEONES RACE: Liberty Bar, Yard House, Little Woodrows, The Block, The Hoppy Monk, or literally anywhere else in San Antonio.

We didnt even get to enjoy the drinks because we were told by the bouncer foreigners are not allowed. A friend of mine had her passport, and was not even planning to consume any alcohol. Its fine if they dont trust one form of ID (although passport is a legally accepted form of identification) but then the bouncer proceeded to say foreigners are not allowed twice. We will never go back here. We can get better drinks elsewhere at the rim with a less xenophobic atmosphere.

This place is really special. Phenomenal cocktails and a fun staff that takes their job very seriously. Its a classic cocktail kinda spot so you should attempt some of the classics here or drinks from a bygone era like the absinthe. Amazing liquor selection as well. Reminds me of the craft bars in nyc.

If you are visiting or local, you have to go for a Rock and Rye cocktail. We visited the place on a Sunday afternoon, it wasnt busy but we had a very relaxed time trying our drinks. Thanks to Google I discovered this place.

Rock and Rye is a beautiful whiskey bar and cigar shop located in the Rim. Its a great starting point for the start of a fun night or a place to grab a night cap. The ambiance is dark and chill. They have a good happy hour menu with tasty bites and craft cocktails. Sit at the bar to strike a convo with the mixologist or grab a booth with friends.

Good cocktails, but huge ice. Skip the food. Online they show a charcuterie board, but it s actually a 7 x 7 cardboard box, where everything was completely pre-packaged in tiny little bags,. Definitively not worth the price. It s also extremely loud. We had to shout to hear the people at our table.

Im not normally a Bourbon drinker. But very good drinks. Maybe the first time I really really enjoyed drinking Bourbon. Only complaint (and its not a complaint) from myself and others was that there are TOO many drinks to choose from. Menu is an encyclopedia of bourbons and drinks. Not enough time to review 10% of bourbons let alone the drinks. Brings the definition of custom mixed drinks to a whole new (days of old) level. Private tables and also open social tables fun to share. Great atmosphere!

The staff is the most knowledgeable in the city between here and their sister bar in Southtown, 1919. Selection is incredible and highly curated. If you dont know exactly what you want, let the bartenders know what you like and they can craft something to your tastes. Great beer selection, epic whiskey selection. Also has a nice patio with a great cigar list if thats what youre after. If youre a whiskey nerd this is your spot, but they also excel in agave and gin. The true craft spirits spot on the north side.

My wife and I absolutely LOVE coming here. Unbeatable selection of drinks and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. You won t be able to sit down for more than 15 seconds before someone helps you! If you like whiskey drinks you HAVE to try the Bourb Reynolds.
