The kitchen closes relatively early, so Id recommend dinner beforehand if youre going late. Typical speakeasy decor, nothing too unique. But my oh my would I take the service here over any other bar Ive ever been to. The welcome cocktail to kick off the night and the menu of delicious drinks are great. But what really makes this place shine is the bartender making something new off the top of his head based on what you like or whatever vibes youre feeling. He works with you to craft something youve never had before and every single one will be a hit.

Parker makes great cocktails! Ask for any classic and youll have a tasty drink. But if youre adventurous, tell him what flavors you like and youll discover a new favorite! The bathroom entrance is well hidden, like youre walking into a secret lair. The ambiance is usually quiet and intimate. The smal food menu is perfect for noshing. Try the pretzel! Vegetarian options: Sourdough pretzel is vegan as is. Parking: Park behind the restaurant.

Youre only allowed to visit if you reserve and get a confirmed password. Hidden behind Barn Door, opened only certain days out of the week, and only allowed 2 hours to enjoy. As you walk inside, you are greeted with a huge smile and a sampled glass of their featured cocktail. The bartenders are highly knowledgeable, and for the most part, their syrup mixers are made from scratch. Thats impressive! The ambiance is quiet and intimate. Perfect for a date night. I highly recommend to experience it for yourself at least once.

This speakeasy has some of the best cocktails in the entire United States. The drinks we got here were super well balanced, smooth, and had incredible flavor. The given menu is nice and succinct - serves as a good guideline for ordering off menu items that the bartenders can recommend and tailor to your liking! The ambiance is very nicely quiet here, with lots of cool, subtle decorations. I would very highly recommend this establishment!

Such a wonderful speakeasy! Drinks were so well made. The ones we had were super well balanced and easy to drink, but the bartenders were the best part. They listened to our preferences and recommended things off the menu. I cant even say which drinks were good - just let them know what drinks you do/dont like and theyll work up some magic! They only had 3 appetizers when we went and 2/3 were amazing. Our favorite was by far the German pretzel - it was so warm and fluffy. It was sooooo soft and perfectly delicious on its own. It came with mustard but we arent big mustard fans so we skipped that. The shrimp corn dogs were so unexpected as well - the shrimp on the inside was huge and juicy and the corn dog breading was so thick. The quail knots were ok - they were a little dry for us but still fun bite sized food The service was great and honestly, we had a great time here. There was only space for ~7 parties and it was a relatively small, but not cramped space. It wasnt loud, very relaxed and I didnt feel rushed at all. The kitchen does close at 9, so make sure you order your snacks before then!

Such a lovely little place. We loved our time here. The waiter/bartender was just fabulous. He was so kind and provided a complimentary cocktail upon arrival. We had the German pretzel and a couple of the drinks from their cocktail menu. My boyfriend even pointed out how great of timing the waiter had when taking orders, greeting guests, and such. This was a wonderful experience!!

I hesitated, selfishly, to leave a review, because I do not want the reservations to get booked up. But, I can t keep this precious gem all to myself. Drinks: creative, methodically clever with ingredients, fun and wondrous to the tastebuds. Service: attentive, sense of humor, very formative, and polite when you go over your reservation time and move you to the bar to enjoy imbibe a little longer. Atmosphere: from the first knock to the last sip they have set you up to take you back in time with booze were a no-no. You will be seated in your own little area which gives a sense of speakeasy ambience and privacy. The vibe pairs likes grandma s 60 s/70 s eclectic decor with alluring textures. All you ll want to do is shimmy up closer to your company. You will leave and put this place on repeat. The guilt has be lifted off my shoulders. Cheers, friends.

They were very accommodating by allowing us to make a last-minute reservation and order appetizers despite the kitchen closing at 9 p.m. Which was 5 minutes after we arrived. The ambiance, specialty drinks, and appetizers were all amazing! Whether you are on a first date or just want a chill place to hang out with a few friends this speakeasy is the perfect setting. We will return and take the family.

Call before to make a reservation and have a password to get in. We went as a recommendation from my sister in law. We went on a spur the moment thing. When we arrived, I asked her what the password was. Id never been, but its advertised as a speakeasy, so I figured there was a password. It is located behind the Barn Door, and there was no sign. She replied, We dont need a password. I quickly responded with, I bet theres a password, thats iconic speakeasy! She brushed ke off as we continued to walk to the door. Someone else in front of us was approaching the door before us and knocked. Whats the password? someone on the other side of the door said. I told you there was a password! It was a funny experience. The guy in front of us had the password, my sister in law tried to copy his password and got denied. The staff then let us in for a 2 hour limit as no one had a reservation till 2 hours later. They were very cool. The waiter bought us a complimentary drink of the night and it was tasty. They catered to us and their drinks are strong. We also had the quail pops and pretzel right before we left. Everything was good and theres something for everyone.

This place is a nice take on the concept of a speakeasy. It has a very low profile entrance through the back thats unmarked. To get in you have to have an invitation between password that they request at the door. Once inside its a cozy friendly environment with spectacular cocktails and knowledgeable bartender. They have a small selection of appetizers you can order. Hopefully down the line they will expand on the offerings since this is attached to a popular full-service restaurant. Whats fun is that the bar is completely associated with the restaurant, so customers of the restaurant dont know theres even a bar, and cannot access the bar from the restaurant. Another interesting point is theres two big glass windows in the bar on the common wall with the restaurant. If youre in the bar, you can look into the restaurant, but if youre in the restaurant all you see are mirrors. You cant look into the bar or even know that it exists. Its a lot of fun, and even has a secret entrance into the restroom!

We had heard about this hidden gem from a few friends and found the number to text for reservations. We decided to arrive on a Friday at 6pm for cocktails. We provided the password at the door and were granted entry into a cool and cozy little lounge, lit dimly with a fun mix of music from various decades. Our group of four sat together and enjoyed a few rounds of craft cocktails, all of which were delicious. Frankie, the bartender, made incredible drinks and was very welcoming to us in this speakeasy in the heart of Alamo Heights. We also sampled the corn dog shrimp, skewered shrimp coated in corn dog batter, fried, and served with a honey mustard. These were very tasty, especially if you are a corn dog fan, and that I am. We ll be definitely making a return here on another evening to enjoy more of the hospitality and hand-crafted cocktails.

I loved the concept for this bar, it s very unique and interesting. The cocktails were delicious and made from scratch, very tasty! My complaints about this place are many unfortunately. When I made reservations many days in advance, I was told be there by 7:00 pm and was instructed to confirm exact an hour prior to my appointment to ensure I arrive on time. When I arrived at 7:00 pm on the dot, I was then told whoops we meant 8:00 pm, come back later . I was made to wait for an hour later because of a scheduling error on their behalf. While annoying, we decided to give it a chance and wait for our new reservation time. Once we were finally let inside, we were sat next to a rowdy group of bar patrons that were beyond intoxicated. The bartenders kept serving them alcohol even though they kept tripping, spilling drinks everywhere , being lewd and sobbing on the pavement. I think the last straw for this evening was when the bathroom pipes burst and it started to flood the bar. At this point we were maybe an hour into our reservation time (they make you leave after 2 hrs) and was escorted out due to the bathroom water seeping into the bar area where the drinks are made. Overall, this was a HUGE let down
