The place is great and we used to love going there 3 years ago, since then weve been 3 to 4 times and everytime the drinks are just really really bad! For a place like that and prices like these, they should hire decent mixologists! I mean if they cant make a basic martini, lemon drop or an old fashion! It may as well be a sports bar. Sad, but an easy fix... hope the owners see this and either train their bar tenders or invest in a good mixologist

The live music and atmosphere were nice but the cocktails were terrible. We tried a Paloma and a ranch water but both were nothing more than artificial lime juice on ice. I d like to say it was just a bad night but this was our 2nd try with the same result.

I really liked this place, the atmosphere was great and on Saturday they had live music. Even though its a smaller place they did well not to be too loud. The reason behind the 2 star rating is they had the absolute worst drinks Ive had at a bar. I got a sunburn (supposed to be the seasonal drink) that had a Jalapeño in it and somehow still tasted like water. Same with some of my friends, they had a cucumber martini that also tasted so watered down. I want to believe it was maybe an off night for them, because it really seemed like a cool place, but its hard to pay $12 for a drink that tasted like water. Having said that, its definitely a good spot to bring a date after dinner. Maybe just order a beer, hopefully they dont water those down too.

Jazz was the worst bartender I ve ever had. Also Mike the Manager was atrocious. I ll never go back and would advise patrons to avoid this place when she is tending bar because you will not get served. In the event you do she will go out of her way to screw up your drink and overcharge you.

This place lives up to the hype! You should definitely check it out on a weekend night! The live musicians change weekly and represent a wide variety of styles but every one I have seen (5) have been great! The bartenders are really good too. Drinks actually taste good, and are perfectly balanced on alcohol and flavor/drink-ability.

The place is nice the music is great but the girl with short curly hair with tattoos and glasses the bartender is terrible she is rude she don t have any customers service skills after yelling and cursing at me with no reason I will never go back and I don t recommend this place this lady should seek for psychiatric treatment. My friends and I decided to come and check out this place. It was a Wednesday night around 10ish. When we got here there was only 1 bartender and 6 guests. First the bartender wasn t even at the bar when we arrived. We sat down on the couches and waited for a waitress or a bartender. They had the drink menus and as you can tell no prices. We waited for 16 minutes and finally got fed up and left. Only reason they get a two and not a one was the atmosphere was nice. This place will not last much longer. My 1.5 million followers don t come here.

Unfortunately this was a nice hipster place in SA with live music over the weekend and good drinks that I used to frequently visit, but not anymore. I went there this week and Jeremiah offered us happy hour drinks which we accepted...later I found out that he charged me $30 bucks for one drink. He seemed pretty cool but he decided to give himself a $20 dls tip (hopefully youll enjoy it). Of course, I wont be going there again.

Im really diggin this spot. As soon as you walk in, youre in a time warp back into the 1920s. From the old fashioned chandeliers, artwork/photos hanging up and traditional furniture, I really enjoyed the ambience. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the HH specials and drinks that were available. They also have a couple of flat screens for viewing sporting events. This establishment doesnt serve food, but there are a few spots in walking distance that you can get your appetite fulfilled and then head over to this one.

Pros: The space is well decorated. Cons: The music does not match the decor at all (Papa Roach and Puddle of Mud in a bar that looks like it should be playing jazz based on the interior design) and it just totally threw off the vibe. The old fashioned was served over ice chips (and the bartender bragged about how he made the best old fashioned this side of the Mississippi) and it just wasnt very good.

Edit (2022): Wow. Talk about a fall from grace. This bar used to be a legit craft cocktail bar. The staff used to dress nicely (slacks, vests, hats, button up shirts, etc.) and made it feel like a real craft cocktail bar/speakeasy. They also used to actually make drinks, as opposed to throwing ingredients together like 90% of all cocktail bars. This place has taken a straight nosedive. The bartender is dressed in jeans and a croptop. The barback is literally wearing sandals, shorts, a backwards ball cap, and a t-shirt. The old fashioned was made with ice chips, simple syrup, (two things a good old fashioned should never have), and an orange peel haphazardly tossed in. This is a far departure from the venue that this once was. Its a good location and was a vibe spot at one point. What a waste, what a shame. *Avoid this place*, unless youre already drunk, looking for a place that isnt crowded, and dont care how your drink tastes. (Old)The best old fashioned in San Antonio. Sometimes crowded, but nowhere near the crowd of other bars. Cozy feel and friendly staff.

They were out of soda, no manager, bartenders are not being provided what they need to keep clients. Really sad saw two different groups leave because of liquor issue. The liquor display wall is sparce and the beer coolers practically empty. Luckily they still have live music.

I was there after eating dinner with my wife and her friends and taught we should go get some drinks on a monday. Looked up this place liked it and looked at the menu. The drink menu stated happy hour all day monday. And they had a happy hour menu. We all taught we got a good deal. Until the bartender charged my friends and I all full prices. When i confronted him on this he stated that he just works here and does not do the billing. Very very bad response. Ask to speak to the manager and he would not let us. Very bad way to do business. Definitely not going back. Almost ruined my wife birthday.

I had a horrible experience. I sat at the bar and one of the bartenders didn t even acknowledge. When he finally did I asked if they had a drink menu and apparently they didn t. He then continued to snarkly asked what I like. I said anything I m not picky. He responded well that s not very helpful. I rightfully told him well you re not very helpful either. He asked what I liked, smooth or with a punch. I responded straight faced and unflinchable, with a punch. These guys seem to not want to work because at the table I was sitting at the lady said she waited 10 mins and no one helped her! She gave up and sat down. Port lady, she was thirsty too.

Interesting speak easy bar on the Northside. Walked in to a dim lit environment and a funky smell. Theres no menus here. Tell the bartender what youre feeling and hell whip something up. Weird, awkward space, unhelpful and disinterested service and limited selection- super disappointing. This bar is in a space that s big enough to be a full size restaurant, but only a quarter filled with a few haphazard clusters of thrift store furniture. It s like they tried to turn a large space into an intimate bar- it just doesn t work. We got there on a weeknight, so maybe they were short staffed but we weren t greeted, there was nothing to indicate whether we were supposed to order at the bar or not, and the menu we were given (2 copies for our whole party) was 5ish drinks. When we did order, the spicy margarita I picked wasn t available because they were out of the spicy tequila, so I got a decent daiquiri instead (very very tart and sweet). Another person got a cucumber martini that was fine. Third person asked about wine and was told we re not a wine bar so we don t have much . Went with champagne after being told they had it, turns out they didn t have any after all. Liquor selection displayed behind the bar wasn t much more impressive than a typical bar- especially considering the we re a cocktail bar attitude. Drank fast and left for a better spot.

Drinks are average but service is REALLY BAD. Everytime I ve come here the bartenders do this thing I used to do when I bartended and worked the well where I would pretend to be busy and not greet the new people at the bar. They continued talking to their coworkers instead of guests and the guy working the well did shots right in front of us before greeting or acknowledging us and continued talking to a friend who was seated right in front of the well all night. The last time I was here no one spoke to me or greeted me and my friends at all we were ignored for over 20 minutes and decided to move onto the next bar. I used to work for tips too so I don t understand the mentality of ignoring paying guests. I got one drink last night and left because when it came to getting a second drink I sat there with an empty one for a VERY long time trying to get bartenders attention for round two and it was a waste of time. Not coming back.

Nice, fancy quiet place hidden in a shopping center. I came early on a Saturday evening and it was very quiet, but I ve heard it can get crowded. I ordered the Gold Rush and it was superb. Also had a sazerac but it was a bit watered down, though. The old time couches make you feel like you re having a drink at home, listening to an old program on a vintage radio. The happy hour selection is pretty small, but they will make pretty much whatever you want to order. Still, an elegant place to bring a date or have a work meeting or party in their private room next door.

We went here for the second time tonight. Last time we came here the drinks were decent, but tonight I was served a glass of wine with 3 flies in the glass. We also sat at a table for 30 minutes that had multiple empty drinks from previous patrons that hadn t been cleaned up. I love this place! Every time I go they are always so helpful. I usually go on weekdays and its a great chill bar if you want to just sit back and relax in a really cool atmosphere.

My favorite speak-easy around! Great location and yummy cocktails. They have live bands which play cover music and will generally play any song you ask. Always a good time here! Fast service and cozy ambiance!

This used to be a favorite. Now it has freshman bartenders (far from mixologists) who think its mind-blowing innovation to create a drink using cinnamon. I watched the bartender jump off the ladder& almost smash his face into the bar. The Old Fashioned was a huge disappointment from previous staff. Didnt want to tell them cuz it seemed like it was the best day of their careers, but, I wont be back.

There was a piece of glass in my friends drink and the manager, Riamond Cordero, took it away without a word or apology. I stressed that we dont want a free drink, we just want to make sure the issue is handled and she told us that its crazy that there was glass in there and she already checked with the bar back and checked the ice buckets. Umm...it had been 5 minutes and all she did was continue making the drink she was making. The drink was not even comped and she just shrugged it off and didnt care. It is unfortunate that this bar has gone so downhill. We are never returning.
