I had a great experience for lunch. From the bartenders, hostesses, and atmosphere it was a great time. Customer service was great. They offered to change channels. I have a special food request, it was accepted with no rebuttal. 10 stars of I could give it.

Seems fine for large groups. Service was lacking at the bar, with bar team more focused on getting shooters out to tables, difficult to get the bartender s attention while sitting at the bar. Really loud with little noise dampening which made it feel more of a late night last stop vibe than somewhere you would want to get a bite or cocktail. Overall, firm for a work trip and after dinner drunk nightcap, not a typical place I would go again.

If I could give zero stars I definitely would. From the unfriendly, uninterested host to the server who had no idea what he was doing. It was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. One of the doors to the patio was broken and had a sign on it and the waitress kept using it making this incredibly loud banging sound. Had to ask the hostess is we had a waiter and she replied it will be a bit, he has a few tables ahead of you . Everything took forever, from the drinks to the appetizer to the sides of fries we ordered (which we ordered thinking it would be faster than than an entree surprise it was not). I can t say enough bad things, I highly DO NOT RECOMEND. There was even two managers working and they were clueless doing nothing to make anything better. Delivered our food, we had no drinks or silverware and he just walked away. Horrible experience.

The only people in the restaurant/ bar were my coworker and I, and one other lady at the bar. The bartender/ waiter was extremely attentive and went above and beyond to fulfill our needs or requests. The drink I got wasnt the best flavor, but I cant deduct points for that because Im not big on alcoholic beverages. The food was good. My only complaint is the cole slaw lacked something (Im not sure what it was), and the macaroni couldve used some salt and pepper.

Convenient if youre staying at the Grand Hyatt. Can get busy at times so be prepared. Hostess wasnt personable on the days we were there, so dont expect smiles when seated. Food was good, several meals there so we were able to try a little of everything. Fish tacos were good, beets and brussel sprouts were ok, beets were a little tough. Avocado grilled cheese and fries were nice. Burrata salad was ok but could have used a little more dressing. Birria quesadilla, and shrimp tempura were nice. Chocolate cake was enough for three people, and paired well with a nice glass of red wine.

Come for the drinks and not the food. Dont expect to get quality food here for the expensive pricing. Go elsewhere for food and drink at the bar. Its hit or miss with the service. One time service not bad and timely. Next time very slow and it wasnt a Happy Hour or busy time. Have some consistency.

We were hungry and ate here because it was not crowded with only two occupied tables. Had to get up and find server for things needed. Slow service. DO NOT get the ribeye sandwich (that was TRASH and no ribeye in it). Its basically frozen food heated up. (maybe the reason the entire stay it was never crowded). Not recommended or worth the price.

Stayed here the weekend of 5/31/24. Enjoyed 2 house margaritas made by David in the bar on Friday and one by another young lady on Saturday. Drinks were really good! David was pleasant and remembered us the next day . He was helpful with our food order also. The food is kind of pricey but overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and service provided by the staff.

BEWARE OF THEIVES ON STAFF! I was just here on Friday and they make you give a card to start a tab. Well, we closed out with a different card as a friend wanted to buy the round. The waitress assured me that I wasnt going to be charged. He paid and closed the tab and left a generous tip. Well, turns out she still charged my card and it has already posted my account. Now I need to dispute the charge and change my card number. I will never come back here. Also, for what they charge for drinks & the hotel, you think the place would be nicer. The bar is a tiny step up from a Dennys if that helps you any. Save yourself the hassle and your time and money and go somewhere else.

I ve had my fair share of micheladas but can confidently say I d never had one as good as Ivy s. Out of pure luck I landed here after walking in the conference center all day, thirsty and tired. Ivy quickly asked me what I wanted to drink, and after i d taken my pick said: do you like your michelada spicy?, To which I responded: I actually would like it salty and OH BOY did she deliver! I d never had such a savory, refreshing, and crisp michelada. Felt immediately replenished - Gatorade who? It was so good I came back the next day And the next. thanks Ivy!

Underwhelming is a good summary of my experience with bar Rojo. From the first encounter that we had to wait for ten minutes standing in line (11:20am to 11:30 when they let us in) although the restaurant was completely empty and we couldve all been seated and offered water! To the smoked brisket sandwich which was cold and devoid of any taste or texture to the ginger ale which tasted like not well shaken medication. The service staff were friendly enough but the manager seemed confused. Maybe its not always like that but of it is then I recommend walking five minutes to a place that actually cares. The picture is taken after they took in a bunch of us. Still there is a ton of space available but the militaristic approach doesnt allow people to be seated.

And not a generous serving of queso at all. We got guacamole, too, which I didn t get a picture. Extremely over priced. Two ranch waters and this queso was $62 BEFORE tip, because we moved over to sit with four other friends and got a 20% large party service fee that was not intended to be a tip. Won t go here again when in town. Not at ALL worth it.

Stay away from this place. I Stay at the #grandhyattsanantonio frequently and I put up with #Barrojo terrible people skills and extremely overpriced food. I go there reluctantly because of location. This final experience was the one that signaled never again. I sat at the bar, there was a bartender prepping drinks and another one talking to her. I found it weird that nobody greeted me or said we will be right with you. I waited until she finished her order, she washed her hands and just walked the other way. Then I noticed two other staff members to my left, neither of them extendedme a welcome of any sorts. I stood up and left, still nothing, I thought this might instigate a reaction to a potential customer leaving upset as nobody cared to take care of him, because all of them made eye contact, so they noticed me. Bottom line, take your money to establishments that really want your business and want to extend their hospitality. Stay away from the overpriced and and terrible customer service. #barrojo doesnt deserve yours or my business ever.

On 12/30/2021, for a quick appetizer and a drink with a friend. It took the male bartender a long to acknowledge us. The female bartender only acknowledged the male patrons. A female patron has been waiting and a male patron walked in, the female bartender acknowledged him immediately. Thankfully, the male patron asked if the female had been helped when she said no- the female bartender rolled her eyes and helped the female patron. The appetizer and drinks were ok. I paid the bill with my credit card but left a cash tip. When the charges cleared my account it was for more than the bill amount. It was a small amount but the dishonesty and subpar service guarantees I will never go to Bar Rojo again. If you do, keep your receipts!

Bar Rojo also has a very nice breakfast offering. During my stay at the Grand Hyatt, I dined one morning at the Breakfast @ Rojo. I ordered an absolutely fabulous Taste of Spain plate. It included jamon Serano (flavorful Spanish ham), smoked salmon, Spanish tortilla (a stacked potato dish), roasted tomato Spanish cheeses, olives, grilled bread, egg, and greens that were dressed. It was such a large plate, it could easily serve two especially for breakfast. I asked for a box to take home about half of that breakfast. I was so surprised at the freshness and variety served for breakfast. I highly recommend the Taste of Spain dish!
