Went for lunch and ordered the salmon Cobb. Not only was it canned salmon, there was a large gelatinous glob of skin? In the scoop. It into dad this restaurant went from a 5 star to one. The staff is friendly but the food is less than fresh.

My husband and I are here in July and loved every minute. We got a series of sides and appetizers and they were all spectacular. If you go, and you should, have the Brussel sprouts even if you aren t an eater of them. They are amazing as well as the Mac and cheese. It s a beautiful atmosphere and really friendly service. They have two bar tops that have really comfy seats as well.

I had Thanksgiving dinner here because it was supposed to be a good place but they served my food to another table and no one noticed the mistake for at least five minutes while the wrong table poked and breathed all over it. When the servers finally realized their mistake they didn t offer to replace the food or anything. Gross.

The restaurant used to be outstanding, offering delicious, large ribs, Wagyu burgers, and their famous carrot cake. Unfortunately, with the new menu, the quality has significantly declined. The once cherished dining spot now serves dishes made with cheap ingredients at high prices. I recommend choosing another place for dinner to ensure a better dining experience.

My husband and I were excited to dine at the restaurant, given the great reviews. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food. The raw tuna appetizer was tasteless and tough. The lamb tacos were greasy and flavorless. The main courses were a bit better, but still disappointing. The haliibut was overcooked and the scallops were incredibly salty. We left most of the food on our plates. The waiter noted that we had not eaten much and compted us for tuna. We travel often and like exploring new restaurants. For the price, this meal ranks up there with one of the worst we have had - anywhere.

7 friends and I were in town celebrating turning 30. Land Race was our last dinner together and we were very excited. The cocktails were delicious but, overall, we regretted eating here. The staff seemed very unorganized and different people continuously came to our table and asked the same questions. The table side old fashioned was awkward and nothing special. The man bumped into our table and chairs with his cart and just poured the ingredients into a glass. It was odd. Food plating left a lot to be desired. The dishes were good, not great. Scallops were well cooked. The fries were reminiscent of left over McDonalds. The only plate at our table that was memorable was the venison. Everyone else was disappointed. Our server brought out a nice birthday dessert to celebrate which was sweet. Overall, each couple spent about $250 for a mediocre meal with good drinks and atmosphere. During our short time in San Antonio, it was clear that there are FAR better ways to spend that at a restaurant.

Last time I trust reviews on here lol. Our server really attentive. Felt more rushed than anything, took our order and gave us the bill, no checking up on or anything, got more service from the staff actually bringing out the food. Everything was bland. And I mean everything. The meat tasted like some cheap meat they got from Culebra meat market lol. The macaroni wasnt very good, bland as well, the broccolinni was charred so just taste burnt. Its nice inside, at least the hotel its connected to is, other than that super forgettable. I would really actually like to forget this place lol.

Heres how my evening transpired. I drove up to where Google maps directed me and saw the sign for Landrace and a sign for valet parking. The valet parking didnt appear to be staffed, so I continued to the main drive for valet parking. Upon arrival, I asked the attendant for change for a ten. He said he didnt have change but directed me to the valet stand (he should have gotten the change for me) I got the car taken care of and went up to the rooftop bar for a drink. The drink was prepared perfectly. I went back downstairs to the restaurant and stood at what appeared to be a host station at the entrance to be seated. I waited and waited and finally tracked down the bartender who advised me to walk through the bar and someone would assist me which they did. We were seated promptly and then there was a bit of a lull before we were greeted by our server Geoffrey. Geoffrey was absolutely outstanding. He was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and offered excellent recommendations. I cant say enough about his level of laid back but professional and gracious service. The food was outstanding as well. Get the attention to details corrected and you can command the prices you do and earn 5 stars. Fast forward to today, where we came for Sunday brunch. I really should have learned my lesson the first time. The service was so so slow. At $95 per person, the service should be on point, but sadly, it was far from it. Not only was the service very slow, but the food this time was just ok. There is nothing memorable about it. Additionally, the pasta from the pasta station was prepared so quickly that the pasta was cold. Ive been to many brunches, and this one was the most disappointing. To add insult to injury, the valet parking for this ordeal was another $30 plus tip.

Update on my previous review: We had a chance to try Landrance via a reservation. I had the same fillet and fixings as before. Here is the difference: I was asked how I liked my Fillet and it came out to perfection. We had Kim as our server, who was sooo super personable and ya gotta love her everything! She made the dining experience as what it should be a positive and great experience. Tami, the manager, was present and made sure everything ran as a higher end establishment should. Water was promptly filled and kept full. And speaking to full, we left feeling just that and feeling great as the food and service was top notch! I learned my lesson from this last trip and now truly feel places always deserve a second chance. We will be back for a 3rd- maybe 4th,5th, etc We popped in here for a meal before we saw a show at the Tobin Center. We arrived around 6pm and the show started at 8pm. Plenty of time for a nice glass of wine and a fillet . One would think. We got sat in the bar area which was fine as we had no reservation. A lovely young man took our order and recommended a good glass of red. He was nice and polite. We waited, we waited, we waited it was close to 7:20 when I told him we need to cancel our food as we had to leave. He apologized and offered to get my wine as he went to check. 10 minutes later our food comes out. He never ever asked me how I liked my fillet but it came out very raw. I didn t say anything as I ate the edges and my hubby ate the rest. We had to run to get to our show. The food was not worth a normal wait- nor less- the hour plus for a quick fire food. (Scallops and fillet) Not sure we will be back. Might stick to Stout or maybe try it again with a reservation??? Regardless, it was a totally waste of money for us. Only giving 3 stars because the bartender was super nice. Cheers

We were traveling without our family for Easter and decided to book a nice brunch. The restaurant itself was beautiful inside. We were pleased to easily find parking and were greeted quickly when we walked in. Thats where the good ends. We sat at our table for 25 minutes before we were greeted. We never had a server. The sweet lady clearing dishes helped us. The restaurant was not busy. The food was average. The best part was the carrot cake. No salt or pepper on the table and no one to ask for it. The buffet set up was awkward to get to. At the end of the visit, we had no one to bring us a bill. My husband had to hunt someone down to pay. A gratuity was added automatically for our non-existent server. They realized they overlooked our table and removed the gratuity and one of our meals. I am still not convinced we had $100 in food and definitely not service. 3 star rating because I did like the carrot cake, they realized their mistake and the restaurant was beautiful inside.

I cant say were regulars here, but we SA downtowners really love this place: sophisticated ambience, with acoustics that allow you to actually have a conversation, a great, innovative menu, and attentive but almost invisible service. Last night our foursome chanced a walk-in with no reservation at 7:30 (pretty much peak). They were absolutely slammed: the Thompson Hotel was hosting a convention, so the adjacent meeting room was filling with hungry attendees, and a large part of the main dining room was filled with another convention group. I approached the host about the slim possibility of fitting us in, and she promptly seated us in the wine room, away from the out-of-towners. By sheer luck, we had our own private alcove nestled amongst the rows of wine. So, if Landrace was over capacity, if the kitchen was maxed out, if the wait staff was stressed, it was of no consequence to us, as we saw no compromise in level of food, bar, or service wed come to expect from this establishment. Just look at this freakin double pork chop - crispy, tender, moist. What a treat!

This restaurant is pretty underwhelming. With all the great food options in San Antonio & along the river walk I would be inclined to go elsewhere. Just about anywhere, elsewhere. I requested decaf coffee and was told, by the server, they didn t have that. What fine dining restaurant (let alone hotel) doesn t have decaf coffee? I asked about decaf espresso and the server responded that they didn t have any decaf, only regular. I looked down at my 8 month pregnant belly and said that wasn t an option since I m pregnant. He then said I can make some for you. I was grateful. We asked for recommendations on starters. He raved about the Cesar salad. It was, easily, the most underwhelming Cesar salad I have ever had. The lettuce was not fresh, cold or crisp but appeared to be browned bag lettuce. There were 3 greasy croutons and some grated cheese. No pepper offered & no pepper on the table. This is a restaurant that should have salt & pepper on the table. They are not in the I m so good, you won t need to season my food arena. Telling the server about the salad was super awkward & it really shouldn t have been. He asked me what I wanted to do & said he would give me time. I kinda just wanted someone to check/acknowledge that the salad was not the norm & reassure me the quality was off. They ran out of romaine something? The server was pretty terrible at handling our complaint & just made it uncomfortable. The manager said she would tell the chef okay? I m like go look which I actually said to her. Anyway, she did bring out the heirloom tomato and peach salad which was actually good. Much more in like with my expectations of a fine dining ($15) salad. We also ordered the scallops they were seared but way under seared. First bite of the outside was okay but second bite was cold and raw. Internal temp certainly didn t get high enough so, being pregnant, I couldn t even at them. My husband ate them and said they were not terrible. He did joke about whether the pan was on the wrong burner. The roasted chicken was the best thing we had but it was just okay. Again, with the prices okay just doesn t cut it. The little green salsa was good but there wasn t enough of it. The avocado that came with the entree was brown. We didn t complain beyond the Cesar salad because we chose to continue and felt we knew better. We should have high tailed it out of there after the bagged salad experience. I would not go back nor recommend. The convenience is nice but the food & service needs a lot of improvement.

Pros: - Great service - Great atmosphere - Great drinks - Great dessert - Quick service Cons: - The food was mediocre, not what I would expect from the cost, but definitely what I would expect from a hotel restaurant - ordered the house steak medium, it came out blue the first time and rare the second time. It was so rare that it was chewy and rather inedible. They took the steak off the bill because we didn t eat it and didn t want one to go, but we would have rather had the steak cooked properly or even overcooked would have been ok! A really cool place and the old fashioned cart is a really nice concept and the bartenders were fantastic. I visited twice during my stay at The Thompson. My food the first time was overcooked and not that great, but breakfast the next morning was great. I highly recommended Brisket Benedict. My biggest complaint was the service. I was by myself and after I was sat and drink order taken, it took almost 30 mins for someone to take my food order. My server was busy running all over the place, so no issue with her. There were 3 other individuals doing checks with tables all over the restaurant and not one of them came and acknowledged me while I was waiting. It was as if they completely forgot about me. In total for breakfast, by myself, it took over 1 1/2 for me to be seated, get my food and eat with the restaurant about half full. Very disappointed.

I don t think anyone in my party really enjoyed their dinner. I feel guilty because I chose this location only because it would give us access to Moon s Daughter. The reviews appeared to be good, but everything was just mediocre. We had the duck wings, Brussels sprouts, the tomahawk Steak, the pork chops, the summer strawberry salad, and some of the crab fingers. The tomahawk steak wasn t worth the price tag, the pork chops lacked luster, and the crab fingers left us wanting. The duck wings were okay, but the dish that saved the meal were the brussel sprouts. The food took a long time to come out and my Sin & Smoke cocktail was just not good. We should ve just gone to Boiler House in the Pearl like my gut told me to.

It was my first experience here. The food and atmosphere were good. The only negative is for our table of 5, it took 3 hours for food to arrive. Apparently there were multiple large parties. We would have left if we knew the wait would be that long. This review is solely for the poor service.... not even for the 3 hour wait. We received little to no updates on the status of the meal. While looking for something different to try for my husband s birthday, I came across the L2 Chef s Counter experience at LandraceTx downtown at the Thompson. I made the reservation through their website and chose a 7pm seating with the 7-course menu. The menu is specially curated by the chef for your specific occasion with creative off-menu dishes prepared by Chef Omar. Being seated at the K-Bar (kitchen bar) allows you to see all the action in the kitchen- the regular restaurant fare and your own dishes, from preparation to plating, and the careful attention given to each plate. Alex, our server, took excellent care of us throughout the evening and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. Our courses were: 1. Arancini with Italian salsa verde 2. Butternut squash soup with brown butter poached lobster 3. Tuna tataki with XO sauce and gochujang aioli 4. Brussels sprouts salad with crushed Texas peanuts, dressed in a Dijon vinaigrette 5. Blue crab tacos- a take on surf & turf with Wagyu steak and oyster dressing 6. Lamb t-bone chops with tricolor carrot purée, black truffle 7. Apple hand pie (think empanadas ) with horchata ice cream and a bourbon cajeta drizzle Everything was absolutely delicious! A representative will contact you a few days before the reservation to discuss likes, dislikes, allergies, etc. The entire experience lasted just over 2 hours (maybe we re slow eaters?) and towards the end we had a really pleasant conversation with Chef Omar and got to know a little bit about him and his family (and where he likes to eat in his off time!). Your place setting includes a printed copy of your personalized menu if you want to have it as a keepsake. We would absolutely do this again and highly recommend this experience to anyone, both locals and visitors, looking to do something special and different. Keep in mind, each menu is unique so your menu may not look like ours, but it will be equally delicious, I m sure! It was chilly and raining, so we used the valet service at the hotel- if you do this, don t forget to have your ticket validated by the restaurant for free valet parking, otherwise expect to pay $30. Thank you, Chef Omar and Alex, for an exceptional experience at LandraceTX!

I ate here for breakfast and lunch while staying at the attached Thompson hotel. In this context, its an absolutely stellar, 5-star hotel restaurant. Using the Amex FHR credit from staying at the hotel, I was able to get a nice meal and a drink and still have some left over. Rating with my own money, however, I have to stick with four stars. Even with a relatively empty dining room at 7 on a Friday, it did take a bit of time to be served. Not a huge problem with the nice atmosphere in here - seriously well done with cool local art hanging on the walls. At the recommendation of my server, I ordered the house steak, subbing the normal sirloin cut for an 8oz filet mignon. This does push the price of the dish pretty high, though the sides are preselected and included. Note that the other mains come a la carte so you will need to order (and pay for) the sides separately. The steak was pretty great - tender, well seasoned and cooked medium rare as requested. The potato side was good, as was the kale. The fried crab fingers were an odd inclusion - there was not a ton of meat and they didnt really seem to fit with the rest of the plate. Breakfast was much the same story - 2 servers for a lot of breakfast guests. Service was similar to dinner time - courteous but slow. The basic eggs and bacon plate was fine, but nowhere near as good as the steak. Between the cash price, the flavor, and the service, I am inclined to recommend you go elsewhere unless youre already at the hotel. Its a fine option, but it doesnt wow and there are plenty of great restaurants downtown, accessible by the riverwalk just a few steps away from the front door.

I have to remove 2 stars though because no one at our table had their steak cooked the way they requested. My medium rare NY strip was straight up raw/cold in the middle so I only ate 1/3 of it then took it home. Another filet was blue in the middle as well and my friends medium rare NY strip was more medium well-ish. We had a big group and it took a while to get our food so no one sent it back since we were all just ready to go out. So I would say overall good but based on the chef I suppose I had high expectations. Maybe go back in a couple months since they offer valet validation now.

Went for our anniversary and the did not even acknowledge it. For a upscale restaurant, the food was subpar and have had better food at a buffet. I order the 16 oz. Steak and it was dry and the flavor was not there, on top of that they don t even know what medium is. Also ordered brocollini and again the flavor was off and vinegar overpowered it, didn t think it was possible to mess up brocollini but they sure did. All in all would not recommend this place to anyone. Spent over 200 and left very disappointed.

The chef is a James Beard award winner. I had both dinner and breakfast there as I was staying at the Thompson Hotel. For dinner, I had the chicken caesar salad. The salad - while good - was overpriced. For breakfast, I had the egg breakfast. It came with sides. I chose grits, bacon, and an English muffin. Breakfast was good and priced appropriately. Service was better at breakfast but was still ok at dinner.

$70 filet with no sides that was a bit tough to cut. The char tasted like simple seasons burger meat. Fries and Cheddar biscuits were good. Also got the house steak that was very tough cooked at medium rare. The kale was over-seasoned. Cocktails were not anything to write about about at $16 each. Not using top or mid shelf liquor. I found the restaurant disappointing. It comes across as the type of place that sits in a high end hotel to raise prices to get high margins from business travelers expensing meals. I don t find the prices justified given what s available locally at places like Supper, Down on Grayson, J Alexander s, or frankly Texas Roadhouse for steak cook quality. Service was awkward. A manager never stopped by the table which is expected at this price point. There a $170 steak on the menu.

My son and I stumbled across The Landrace while on a scooter joyride on a Thursday afternoon in our hometown the Alamo City. We were initially impressed with upscale and trendy vibe we got when we entered the restaurant. The staff was warm and welcoming, my son ordered a 6oz steak mid-rare + and I had the the scallops. We were fairly please, the steak and scallops were cooked perfectly and and the sides were pretty tasty: the service was a little above average but the prices were also a little exorbitant all things considered. I d give it a shot if you find yourself looking for something new.

Landrace has a lot of potential, but it hasn t found its stride. We had heard it was expensive, but we re foodies that don t mind paying for a memorable experience. So we had high hopes for the place, and decided we d try it out before going to see the San Antonio Philharmonic a few Saturdays ago. We started with the blue corn hushpuppies ($14), which had an interesting presentation on a bed of seasoned popcorn; followed by (for me) the house steak ($40) and (for my wife) the scallops ($50) with a grilled cabbage ($13) and the fries ($7)(shared). To finish, we tried at the high recommendation of the server the carrot cake and coffee ($12; and 2 at $4 each). Honestly, each course was average, and all had their disappointments: the hushpuppies were skimpy (5) and dry/overdone, the scallops were chewy, the steak was tasty but awfully tiny, and the carrot cake honestly tasted like a box cake. But the worst offender was the grilled cabbage - without a marinate and over-scorched, we took a few bites and left the rest. At least the coffee was good. In all, we were underwhelmed, except by the check. I suppose there is a good reason they don t publish their prices on their website (the house steak was chosen because the NY Strip was $75.00! Really!). The old adage applies: if you have to ask the price, you can t afford it. Total bill, without any drinks included, was over $185 (including tax and gratuity) for what I d call average fare. Before anyone thinks I m a cheapskate, I ve paid significantly more for much more memorable meals, and would do it again, just not at Landrace.

Experience was overall disappointing, menu was different then what was online, and the scallops got 86ed before we even ordered, 7 p.m and a main course and your only seafood option is gone before the dinner rush?., super odd. So main course options were steak or pork chop. Not a big deal, I ordered the pork chop which was wasent bad...just a normal pork chop, but the knife they gave us make cutting extremely difficult. Small, dull, dainty knife vs massive 2+ in thick pork chop. Pair that with slow service and I didnt feel great about paying over $200 by the time it was said and done for two people.

Edward served us - great service and conversation. Butter from bread service is excellent - worth the $5. Tartare was odd - lake looking meat, tasted ok but wouldn t order again. Dry aged NY strip was good, burger meat was good but brioche was not. Grilled cabbage was funky but good - gotta like Korean flavors to enjoy. Truffle orzo was good, trout was probably my favorite dish. Carrot cake was amazing with butterscotch sauce - I didn t understand the frosting. It seemed like cheap fake tasting frosting. A simple cream cheese frosting would pair better.

My review is on brunch. The venue is upscale and pretty without being trendy or over the top. The hostess was very accommodating and polite. The food left a little to be desired. $17 for one piece of avocado toast with an egg. Egg was a little undercooked and cool all the way through. The toast tasted basic and was slightly over toasted with slightly too acidic avocado. For the price I expected a little more quality than what was served. My friends said their food was good and enjoyed it but delivered a little different than what the menu actually read. As far as service, there were no spoons or sugar served with coffee. We had to ask for condiments like cream and our waitress forgot to provide us a few side items and more coffee when asked.

Beautiful place, but our experience left a LOT to be desired. Everyone was very friendly, but we had too many issues. Our server forgot several items- sugar, a food item, & then we ordered a 2nd pour over coffee for the table, & instead of bringing that out, she brought the bill. Some of the food is way overpriced, such as the avocado toast, which is listed as a starter, but is $14. I got that as my meal with a side of potatoes; for $14 I was expecting at least a couple pieces, or maybe some homemade thick bread. Nope. I got 1 single thin piece of toast. No egg, nothing special on it. My friend got a cinnamon roll, it was really hard, covered in a watery icing, & it was $6. I m not 1 to post bad reviews, but when you go into a higher end restaurant & pay high prices for food, you expect good service & great food, & fair portions. Y all need to do some major reevaluating. We would never come back here unfortunately.

The carrots and cabbage side dishes were also overpowered with too many different mix ins and flavors that did not go together. The beef tartar was surprisingly cooked and not raw. Just like with the other dishes, the added capers and sauce did not allow the meat to be tasted. Overall, there were too many ingredients in each dish that did not go together.

Our plans to join family for thanksgiving got canceled on Wednesday so we had to scramble to find a place. My wife wanted some traditional thanksgiving food, we searched and she found the buffet at Landrace. The buffet included turkey, prime rib, cornbread stuffing, and a lot of other sides including some of the best mashed potatoes I ve ever had. They were really more like delicious, creamy cheese fondue with some potatoes. The desserts were flakey, fluffy, and delicious as well. But what really gave the experience 5 stars was the service. From the moment we walked in and we re greeted by the hostess the service was excellent. The chefs at the slicing table were friendly, the bus staff were on the spot, heck the person who my wife spoke to when confirming our reservations came out and talked to her to make sure our table was to our satisfaction. But it was our waiter John C that really shone and made this thanksgiving meal out a wonderful experience. John was friendly, professional, attentive without being obtrusive, helpful, and overall provided stellar service. We are looking forward to returning for a date night soon.

We had a reservation at 6:45, ordered a little bit after 7:00, and didn t get served until after 9:00. It was such bad service it was comical. We were SO hungry and honestly just had to laugh about how bad it was. No one in the restaurant was eating and there was no real explanation (other than the kitchen was backed up). The restaurant was busy but not even close to full capacity. We considered walking out several times, as people in our party were paying for babysitters making an expensive night out even more expensive. My husband asked for two different bourbons on the menu and they were out. Then our server forgot two ordered drinks for at least 30 minutes or more and seemed to intentionally avoid our table for most of the night. The only thing they did to try to make it right was comp one round of drinks. Gee thanks. Our entire meal should ve been comped. The lady refilling our water glasses was kind and excellent, as she visited our table at least 10 times over the course of the night. The grilled, smoky, wilted Caesar salad was disgusting. The short ribs and grits were great..but what doesn t taste amazing after 2+ hours of waiting for food. No one else was impressed by their order. Awful experience, would NEVER return nor recommend it. Disgusting feeling walking out of there when you re paying $200+ and no one, not even our server (who received a 20% tip via included gratuity), was apologetic. Do not go here!!!

We ended up sitting at the bartop looking into the kitchen. Best location to see all the action and to be able to talk to the chefs and ask questions. We ended up getting a few appetizers and 1 entree because everything looked and smelled so good. We didnt see the braised ribs until after we ordered or we would have definitely tried those instead because they smelled Devine, and they come with grits and the waiters were heating up this wheel of cheese and when they served the ribs evidently they scrape all the melty cheese on top of the grits. It looked and smelled Devine! Everything we had was great. If you are looking for a good meal and interesting food, give Landrace a try! Honestly, my oldest is coming home from college for a weekend next month and Im considering the 4 hour drive just so she can have the steak tartare!

After speaking with the food & beverages director he only granted us a refund on on a few food items instead of all of the food items. We were still perfectly fine with not receiving a refund for the alcohol and the tip, but the fact that such a high end and well known hotel cant give a refund on food that made someone sick is pretty insane. We wont be returning here and I caution anyone who thinks about dining at this restaurant and hotel.

Where to start... busser was nice, that was the highlight of our night. We came for a birthday celebration, so we were excited to come to this establishment. We sat, busser gave us water and we waited, waited, and waited. I had to go up to the hostess to ask if we were going to be greeted. A manager, by the name of Brandon, came minutes after to asked what beverages we wanted. Server came over to give summary of our drinks... not with our drinks. We ordered our main course and some bread, which was stale, hard, not tasty. Waited for quite a duration for the main course, asked the waiter, John, if the food was coming, waited some more. 2 of the 3 entrees came out. Waited for more than 5 minutes, still waited. Informed to cancel my meal. Manager came to tell us when we return, to inform him so he can treat us as VIP. He offered my meal to go, but declined it, my intentions were not for a free meal, it was for the experience. For a higher end restaurant, we should have been treated as VIP to begin with. Our friend, who we were treating for her bday, asked her remaining meal to go and was brought a to go box. Again, for an upscale restaurant, they should have boxed up her meal. Just a disappointment. Beware, their happy hour is deceiving as some of items are the same price on the main menu. Idk maybe Chef Steve was missing at the restaurant tonight.

They asked us if it was a special Occasion which it was my daughters 20bday they offered us the pecan tart and they charged it!!! Lack of kindness and service After paying a very expensive check we asked to stamp our parking ticket. We were told that they do not do it for dinner just lunch really???? 25 dlls after the bill we paid? The waiter was very busy talking to the next table instead of serving other tables. Very disappointing Mother s Day brunch. I made the mistake of not realizing the service was going to be buffet style, but assumed for $95/person it would be well executed. It was not. The seafood tower listed on the menu was nothing more than oysters and crab legs that were awkward and messy to eat. The salads were wilted and unappetizing. No vegetable sides or any sauces to accompany the steak or protein. The desserts were depressing and dry. The service was also terrible, that may have been our waitress s first time to ever wait tables and she was sweet but clueless. This was my third time to eat at Landrace so I obviously liked their food to come back for this brunch, I wish they had just stuck to their regular brunch menu. I had high hopes for this place but there are much better options

Food was top notch. I loved it. My wife loved it. I had to go to Micky Ds on my way home to eat a hamburger after spending a couple of hundred bucks there with the food and parking. I had a couple of boudin balls and the duck. Was still hungry when I left.

This is a top notch establishment. The food and service is amazing. They also have gluten free options for those of us allergic to gluten. For a life hack they will validate your valet parking at the Thompson Hotel, just make sure to give a good tip!

AMAZING! Let me start by saying our server Jeffrey was the absolute best! He went over the menu and shared highlights and his favorites, made drink suggestions and honestly made us feel like we were his only table when he in fact had two others (that we saw). The manager Tammy was so kind and hospitable! She took time out of her busy night and chatted with us for awhile and shared some background of the establishment. Brandon the bartender made us old fashions table side and it was a fun experience to watch and create our own drinks. We loved our experience tonight and are already planning our next outing, but are definitely getting a babysitter next time! You will love this place! (We were so excited and enjoyed things too much to get photos of everything. Sorry!) Edited to include what we ate. Unfortunately the grill is down until March so the menu was modified and this was the first day of the new menu. We started with the Oysters Enbrochette, it was very tasty! The pork was tender and so flavorful! My husband then had the gumbo, which was pretty darn good for TX gumbo. I had the fried green tomato salad and it was very good as well, simple but lots of flavor. My husband had the lamb and he really enjoyed it, only complaint was there wasn t more. Oh! And the potatoes were delicious! I had the trout and that was divine! The sauce, mushrooms and rice all went together perfectly. And for dessert a pecan pie with rye ice cream. OMG!!! that was AMAZING! We will DEFINITELY be getting one each when we go back.

3 strikes off the bat. Valet did not look up nor open door when we pulled up. No hostess, so I sat myself. Waiter was not at 5 star level. Drinks expensive but good. Bread was OK. Fried green salad & homm prommes were excellent. Wagyu steak was cooked medium yet rather tough. It had good flavor. The mushrooms were a waste of $11. We were very excited to celebrate our family Valentines dinner here, but, unfortunately, we did not feel the love.

Had an amazing dinner at Landrace the other night. The service was precise and the food and specialty drinks were the best I have had. We will definitely be back. Our neighbors in Colorado said it was worth seeking out if we made it down to San Antonio. They were so right.

Monday Pork Chop lunch special was amazing - chop was cooked perfectly. Tried it with the soup, the avocado was a nice touch. The warm cookie was a great way to end the meal. Landrace service was on point and a great atmosphere! Will be back again.

During my recent visit to the Thompson hotel in San Antonio I enjoyed breakfast two of the mornings at the Landrace restaurant. Service was excellent, the food was delivered promptly and was absolutely delicious. The first morning I had steak and eggs with a small mixed green salad. The second day I had excellent smoked salmon Benedict with béarnaise sauce. I was seated at the restaurant near the window overlooking the SA Riverwalk. Absolutely beautiful on a crisp December morning! They also had a lovely patio area that would really be a great atmosphere for enjoying a meal.

Honestly, we were so disappointed. We had to request a server, which took a while. The drinks were slow to arrive and were underwhelming. The wine list was small. The marrow appetizer had 3 halved bones with very little marrow in them (we requested a replacement for 1 because there wasnt anything edible in it). The burgers were overdone and impossible to eat with your hands. The gnocchetti were grocery store pasta shells. (Those came with lemon arugula - literally dry arugula and slivers of lemon peel.) They overcooked the salmon and the fois gras. Just... Not great. And extremely overpriced. The one dish that was very well received was the scallops - apparently they were delicious, so get those! And the fries were good. We wanted to like it, but couldnt. Wish we had a better review.

AMAZING! Brandon made the night so cool with the old fashioned cart and I cannot say enough about Cynthia!!! I came in to celebrate graduating from the CIA and I LOVED seeing a strong woman in the kitchen. She cooked that filet to absolute perfection. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for such a wonderful evening!

While it is on the pricey side, the food, employees, location, cleanliness, ambiance, you name it it is so worth going!! We have a corn crab risotto dish, as well as scallops...Again...OMG!! So good!! If I could give a 10 I would. In SA? Make sure to add this place to your eating locations.

Very nice upscale atmosphere located at the base of the Thompson hotel. Food was very good overall. Scallops were tasty but too chewy. Chef special veggie broccoli was awesome. Duck and Lamb were out of season - odd?? Large wine list, good beers. Red Drum was delicious. Wait staff was excellent. Hotel looks lovely too.

I was hoping for so much more. This is a great location, on the river walk, between downtown and river north. Its a beautiful restaurant and I was excited when I walked in the door. I wasnt put off by the prices, it looks like a place where you would gladly pay more for something exceptional....unfortunately, with Landrace, looks are deceiving. Dont get me wrong, the food is not bad, but if I pay $45 for a pork chop there needs to be a wow factor, this fell far short. The wagyu burger was good, but at twice the price of a food truck burger, I wanted more. Understanding that this is a brand new restaurant I may give them another shot but its going to take a while to get over the disappointment of my first visit.
