Food was inspired! Shrimp Scampi was delicious! Catfish was prepared to perfection. Calamari and fried mushrooms were perfect. It was a little noisey, but our waitress Tierra was patient with us. She checked on us just the right amount of times. She was all smiles and very sweet! Definitely recommend The Wharf!

Have not been in 10 yrs till this week and most everything is priced at market value. Even the ribeye is market value (since when is a ribeye market value). Ordered the oyster Rockefeller and it was no larger than a small Fingernail surrounded by breading hard not tender of course marketplace. It is not the same.. I gave it 2 stars for atmosphere cause they finally cleaned the AC vents.

Ive been eating here for several years and am sadly disappointed in the quality of food and service lately. A once delightful experience has become a mediocre (red lobster) type evening with almost fast food quality. Shrimp cocktail....overcooked * salad from a bag...yuk...chemical taste and warm. Piling food on the table, rushing the customers ( again, Red Lobster ) Where is the Good Chef that ran the kitchen before?

My husnd and I decided to take our daughter to try this place out on a whim...the menu looked ok online. Upon driving up, the building is old and drab. The ramp needs work!! Inside, the atmosphere is extremely dated, lacks taste and smelled weird. We ordered the fried calamari (I requested the remoulade sauce instead of cocktail) and fried mushrooms. While the calamari LOOKED decent, it had no flavor and the remoulade sauce looked like nothing Id ever seen before, and tasted like pure vinegar and lemon! DISGUSTING! The mushrooms were overcooked and tasted funny...the chipotle ranch was decent, but Ive had better. We ordered one of each soup...creamy jalapeño for my husband and clam chowder for me. He liked his, but I wasnt a fan...waitress took away my full bowl. Finally our entrées arrive. Lobster for our daughter...looked boiled and bland. Beer battered shrimp for my husband...thick breading and absolutely FLAVORLESS! Catfish and loaded baked potato for me...the potato was the bed part. Catfish was ok, but Ive had better from a gas station! Our server took away full plates of food, and never once acknowledged why we didnt eat. My husband saw her speak with, whom I can only guess was the manager, about our plates, but our bill did not reflect any change, nor she any concern for our dislikes! WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING! Shame on you for calling this seafood!!

Well, new to the San Angelo area so we wanted to find a routine seafood spot for me and my family to go to. This is NOT the spot. We tried two of the fried mushrooms, although they looked overcooked and sure enough OVERCOOKED, and the remoulade sauce tasted like nothing but vinegar. I ordered the fried shrimp with Cajun rice. Although the shrimp looked good, they had NO seasoning or taste what so ever and the Cajun rice was bland as can be. Talked to the waitress to make sure that she knew that we were not happy with the mushrooms (which again were in a full tray considering we only tasted 2) nor the shrimp plate (which had the entire side of Cajun rice along with 7 and half shrimp out of 8 still on it). The waitress looked at it but still left both items on our ticket. She acknowledged that those two items were just touched but did not do anything about it. Noticing that she was not going to make it right, and not wanting to make a scene. We paid for the food and figured I had already given a tip by paying for the food that were obviously still a full plates. Not sure if they just had a bad day but that will not be a place we will be returning to and I HIGHLY suggest that if you are in the mood for seafood, you find another spot to go to!!!

I normally dont leave reviews but we were celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary and was a little disappointed . I will try to keep this short. Im also the type that hates sending food back and will eat just about anything. -Started off by sending back my Moscow mule. Waaaay too much ginger and I LOVE ginger! -The menu was confusing and there were no prices so we had to keep asking our waitress. When we asked for the fish selections she said them fast and like we were bothering her. We werent sure on how they could cook any of them so at that point I was kind of frustrated but I worked through it. - I ordered blackened fish and rice pilaf. The rice was inedible. All I could taste was green pepper There was a ton of it. Again I like green pepper but not when thats all I can taste. It was also dry and nothing like a pilaf. -The clam chowder was ok but definitely didnt taste like they make it in house. -$40 for 12 fried oysters. She told us the price before kind of like are you sure you want those Half got soggy because they threw them all into a basket -Our waitress was ok, nothing special. We told her it was our first time there as soon as she took our order. We had to ask for a drink menu. She never looked us in the eye when talking to us so that kind of made us feel like we were just another table and wanted to move on. - my husband ordered the lobster and baked potato. He loved it. I think it was around $32 and the lobster was a decent size. - Overall we ended up spending close to $150 and left very disappointed We dont normally get to go out. I was hoping for a better experience. *Oh and they dont make reservations on Friday and Saturday so we had to show up as soon as they opened hoping we would get a table. I think for special occasions they should probably make adjustments. Because we werent sure if we were going to get a table. And we already had a babysitter soooo I hope this helps some who chose to read through the whole review

My husband suggested we try The Wharf for our date night dinner. We have four kids, so date nights are a must to keep our sanity. We have lived here for 12 years and never tried the place. Ive always thought about trying it, but just never end up going through with it. Well, Ive been missing out! Everything here was excellent. Reid was our waiter and he was SO friendly, knowledgeable about everything and was perfect in every way. Im not exaggerating. He needs to train all the waiters of Texas. We are asking for Reid every time. My husband even said he was an amazing waiter and just a great guy and you just dont see great service like that anymore. The appetizer was great, our meals were delicious and the turtle pie dessert was the best thing thats ever been in my mouth. My loaded baked potato was actually LOADED. Like I would do at home. Thats a first for me at a restaurant anywhere. This was my first time trying shrimp scampi and it was so delish! I loved it. The lighting was relaxing and cozy. We will definitely be back again soon.

I don t know how long The Wharf has actually been around, but I moved here in 1990, and this is the first time I ve ever tried it. We ve thought about going there a few times over the years, but never got around to it. So glad we finally did! The food was really good. I didn t get a pic until after we dug in, but you get the idea. We ordered the fried mushroom appetizer, which was cooked really well. A lot of times fried mushrooms can be soggy, and I almost always have to add salt, but not here. The chipotle ranch was also nice to dip them in. As for our entrees, my husband got the fried catfish, which he kept commenting that it was really good all night, even after we left. I tried the shrimp scampi and was pretty pleased. We will definitely be dining here again, and it won t be another 34 years before we go!

Loved the atmosphere and the service was great and timely, but food was a real disappointment. Credit is due to the bottlecaps though, as they were really good and I really enjoyed the sauce they were served with. The soup and salad however, really set the tone for the night and given, its just a Ceasar salad and its a very simply dish, but I was served essentially wet lettuce with grated parmesan cheese and not nearly as much dressing as it needed. The cream of jalapeno soup was very bland and the only flavor I was getting was spicy and definitely not worth $5 for a measly 12oz cup. The coconut shrimp itself was pretty good, it had a lovely warm, sweet flavor, but the mustard marmalade it was served with was overwhelmingly sweet. It totally masks the nice flavor of the shrimp which regrettably was the only redeemable thing I had that night. The most disappointing item on the menu in my opinion was the insultingly bland crawfish etouffee. No garlic, no herbs, no seasonings, no salt, it wasnt even spicy. The texture and flavor were reminiscent of canned beans. Even the rice was bland, how to you make bland rice?? At this point I was really looking forward to dessert which unsurprisingly was another disappointment. I went with the safe option of key lime pie which was way too firm and had the texture of pudding with gelatin. The crust was also extremely hard almost as if it was a whole, uncrushed graham cracker. It was more like key lime pudding on a graham cracker dish. Though I will admit that the prices are okay if you enjoy this food, I think of this place as the idea of someone who wanted to bring good seafood to San Angelo and got comfortable accommodating to San Angelos palate. Terribly bland food that would get sent back anywhere else and etouffee that would send anyone with a mature, well-versed palate into cardiac arrest.

This place is kind of a tradition for my girlfriend and I. A few months ago, we decided to try it out, checked online, and it said they were open. We got there and found out they were actually closed because the owners shut down for a week to go on vacation or something. 2 weeks later, we decided to try again. There was a bad storm raging. We got there, and the power was out, so they closed up. A few weeks later, we decided to try a third time. When we walked inside, we were told the sewer was backing up into the kitchen, and they were asking people to leave for sanitary reasons. The tradition is, we go to the Wharf, sit in the parking lot, and decide where we are going to eat dinner. Tonight, we decided to try again and, most likely, sit in the parking lot to decide what we were going to have for dinner. However, we had to break our tradition because they were actually open and serving food! I have to preface this by saying, prior to living back in Texas again, I spent 14 years living in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am very familiar with high-end dining experiences. I have eaten at so many high-end restaurants in Vegas I cant even name them all. Beyond just that, my wife has a culinary arts degree and prides herself on being a fabulous cook. I know what good food is. I will tell you this: The Wharf is not Gorden Ramsey Steak. In the Paris in Las Vegas. But it IS very good. I had the Steak and Lobster. The steak was a perfect medium rare, and the seasoning was exactly right. It was easily the best steak I have eaten since leaving Las Vegas a year ago that I did not cook myself. Lobster turns rubbery if its over cooked by even just a few seconds. It is very easy to overcook a lobster tail. The one I ate tonight was perfect. Quite possibly one of the best lobster tails I have ever eaten. After all the hassle actually getting to eat there, all I can really say is that it was worth the wait. I will definitely be back. My only complaint is that I was led to believe the Wharf was a seafood restaurant but there were more steaks on the menu than fish. The seafood section of the menu was lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp, a fried calamari appetizer and catfish. The rest of the menu was all steaks and one Hawaiian chicken dish. I would have liked to have seen some other fish options. Vegetarian options: My girlfriend is a vegetarian and she had the fried cheeze sticks appetizer and a bowl of jalapeno soup (which was amazingly good) and a salad. There were a few other options she old have chosen but there is no vegetarian menu per se...

It took an hour for them to give us our food. We ordered a Shrimp appetizer which came out tough and stuck to the plate. We also ordered the steak and crab entre with French fries (for our toddler) and the Cream of Jalapeño soup (which was unique). The steak was cooked properly but had very little flavor. The crab however was way over cooked! to the point of the edges of the meat were brown and it was very dry. I love seafood and will eat most anything without complaint. I will say we chose not to say anything in person as we needed to cool down to make sure we weren t rude. There were no prices on the menu as it is listed for market value. However, for $82 (after military discount and before the tip) we could have had a seafood feast at home for our family of 6.

I wish I took time to take pictures because my steak was absolutely on point. We were greeted and sat down rather quickly. My husband and I occasionally come here for a date night. We had some rolls and our favorite appetizer: Cajun Steak Bites. The steak bites come with a mustard and the pieces melt in your mouth with a Cajun seasoning that takes ya to Louisiana. I ordered the 6oz top sirloin with a Caesar salad and some fries. The steak medium. My husband had the scallops (chefs choice on the cook) clam chowder and Cajun rice. The cook of my steak was beautiful, my husband devoured his food. The scallops were blackened. I ordered the creme brulee and a banana fosters to take home. Our server, Tiarra, was very attentive and made us feel like we were the only table there. I highly recommend The Wharf for anyone wanting a lowlight date atmosphere, or to celebrate as a family in a relaxing environment.

They could use a remodel on the place. If your tall you have to sit on really small chairs. Food is good. Need to update the Hawaiian Chicken plate. Waiter was awesome.

Wow! What a wonderful place. My husband took me out for a special night. Our server Stephanie was phenomenal. We explained our bad experience prior that evening at Red Lobster. She took good care of us. The steak and lobster were perfect. Thank you all.

Service was excellent and the food was good. The jalapeño soup is to die for and a must have every time you visit the wharf. The seared scallops were cooked perfectly and very delicious. The reason for the 4-star rating vice a 5-star rating was that our ribeye steaks were ordered medium-rare and they both came out medium-well. Will definitely give The Wharf another try, but just not get the steaks.

The Wharf makes some excellent food. I would definitely recommend their Cajun bites or steak. Their seafood is also really good but due to being in West Texas, it can only be so good. I wouldn t come here looking for the best seafood you ve eaten, just maybe the best seafood in town. They tend to be expensive however my wife and I feel it is worth it. The food has always been good and the service excellent. The atmosphere also makes it a fun place.

Arrived around 7PM so we waited. Hostess gave us a skinny tight booth as I stand 6 feet and 3 inches tall, plus 300 pounds. Ask her if she noticed. Waited more for a table. Sat and waited 20 minutes to get a waitress for water. Asked no onions on my food. Guess what? Lol I was served onions on my food and one fish less from what I asked for. Second catfish was 8 dollars. Waitress said she will like a 30% tip lol.

The Wharf is one of our favorite restaurants in town. It always has good service and great food. My favorite is the shrimp scampi with broccoli. The steak bites appetizer is super yummy as well. Save some room for dessert because their ice cream pies are HUGE and soooo good.

Not sure why this is rated so high... Maybe because it does not have much competition. I have travel from Alaska all the way to maine. This is at the bottom when it comes to services, price and the food is hit and a miss. If its your only option for seafood the go for it. Also my first experience after getting a menu was over 20 min before I ask if they will take my order. Bottom Tier seafood and if you disagree you havent had real seafood.

Amazing Server! I forget her name but she had fair skin, black hair, taller, false lashes and very knowledgeable of the menu. It was our first time there and the food was tasty! I got chicken tenders and my spouse got the dungeon crab legs and rice pilaf. Both were some of the best we ve had in the area thus far. She even made my ranch from scratch in the back! Sooo accommodating. The environment felt like we stepped out of San Angelo and into a beach town like OuterBanks the Netflix tv show lol. And felt like we were on a pirate ship, it was fun, upscale and low lighting. Will be back, if not for the food, for the great service!

Unfortunately I was extremely underwhelmed by my experience. From the soda to the entrees, I was unhappy with my entire experience. The bread rolls were best part of the entire experience. My shrimp was extremely greasy, as were my fries. My salad looked like someone had mixed bag salad and it was EXTREMELY wilted. Pieces of my lettuce were brown and very soggy to be a fresh garden salad . Our server was extremely sweet but that wasn t enough for us to return. We ve heard decent things about the restaurant but if I could have sent my food back I would have. My husband didn t care for his meal either and my food had a weird after taste which ultimately ended up making my stomach upset. I feel the quality of food was equivalent to refried fast food. The only thing that helped the weird after taste of the shrimp was the lemon that I squeezed over my food. It had a weird tap water after taste which completely ruined the meal. Again, the staff from hostess, to bartender fo server was awesome, but due to my experience, I can not say I would dine here again.

The place felt a little dingy, which can be acceptable in certain situations and give some at sea charm, but I just felt gross eating there. I had the etouffee. It was edible but not something I would choose again if I ever return. Also, it was hard to enjoy our meal due to the horrible overpowered stench of cologne coming from a guest one table away. Overall, for the price of mine and my husbands meal I would rather go to The Grill and get something I enjoy EVERY time.

Update: my husband and I both had our anniversary ruined because the food made us sick. This place seems super nice for being in this little town, the wait staff was sweet and helpful but the food is mediocre. Its super dirty and dusty inside, tables are sticky. I havent eaten a steak in years that Ive had to smother with A1. The Cajun rice tasted like a hospital chose to do Cajun food for the day. No flavor at all. Very disappointed. The only thing that was good was the jalapeño bottle caps and my husbands salad. Wont be heading there again. Im really shocked by how amazingly talked up this restaurant is/was.
