Officiant first script was weird and contained unromantic details like met on app groom likes cars . I asked for a second one and didn t get it back until I followed up 2 hours before the ceremony. Officiant forgot our request to acknowledge our 98 year old grandmother that traveled 6 hours. Not entirely her fault but the ceremony mic was EXTREMELY static and high pitched sounds. So that was not great. Wish we would have just asked a judge.

Our officiant David did a wonderful job. He took the time to get to know us a little bit and did his own research to understand our customs. He was also super great about editing the ceremony for personal preferences (for instance, we didn t want any quotes or bible verses.) He made our day so wonderful, I would recommend this service to any bride/groom.

We met twice over coffee over the course of a few months, and during each conversation, he truly took the time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple. Shelly was wonderful to have as our officiant. She made the whole process very easy. She was very quick to answer our initial inquiry, and after meeting with us and adapting some of our suggestions to fit her speaking style, she produced a script that ended up being perfect for our wedding day. It was heartfelt, incorporated elements of our story, and delivered a message that I thought resonated with all of our guests. She was also instrumental in not only suggesting that we carry out an activity during the ceremony but also assisting us with it on the wedding day. Overall, we were very happy that we chose Shelly as our officiant. We worked with Shelly Cole for our wedding this past weekend and she was the best person for us! When we were initially starting the process, I mentioned my goals for our ceremony were short (it was outside and hot), personal, and fun....and she checked all those boxes! The ceremony was a true reflection of us and how special our relationship is. From saving my eyes from the burning sunset light, to making the audience laugh multiple times it was everything I wanted. Shelly attended the rehearsal the day before and was successful in corralling the rowdy groomsmen (which is a feat in itself) and make sure everyone knew where to be day of. She also left a copy of the script for us to hang onto which was very special to read through the next day. I cant thank her enough for all her attention to detail and her electric smile all day, it made me feel so comfortable!

We very much enjoyed working with David from Short and Sweet Weddings to officiate our wedding back in June. We had an initial call with him to ensure he aligned with our style and met in person about a month prior to our wedding to discuss the ceremony in more detail and for him to learn more about us and our story. Both my husband and I remarked after our meeting on how calming Davids persona is. With all the moving parts of planning a wedding, it was wonderful to have someone joining us with such a calming nature and who was genuinely interested in learning about us as a couple to be able to deliver the right words for our ceremony. As soon as David started speaking on the day, an instant calm came over all. His words were meaningful, personal and contained the perfect amount of spirituality based on what we had discussed up front. My husband and I opted to write our own vows and David was encouraging of this and allowed this to fit seamlessly into the rest of his service. Perhaps the biggest kudos to David is for just being himself and bringing his calming and kind nature to what could be seen as a very stressful day. He left us a booklet afterwards with his words from the whole ceremony written down. This was wonderful to be able to look back at, since its a bit of a blur in the moment! We are forever grateful for David being part of our day, and it was wonderful to meet him and gain another friend in our community.

He was funny and curious and gave both my husband and I a sense of ease. I was excited for our wedding ceremony after meeting with David- he asked some great questions and seemed like he really got to know us. When I received the ceremony, I have to admit I was really unimpressed. The grammar was all over the place and it felt very generic. To his credit, he made edits when I requested, but I still had to essentially write an entire paragraph myself and fix the grammar. My issue, though, was that he went completely off script during our ceremony. He rambled a little and then actually got lost and had an awkward pause where he flipped through pages trying to find his place. In hindsight, I think I would have hired someone else. He was a nice guy but I felt like the service wasnt was I was expecting or worth what I paid for it

True to the vendor s name, our wedding was short but still very sweet! Shelly Cole was our officiant, and she sent us emails with a lot of helpful information about the process in addition to meeting with us closer to our wedding date. Shelly patiently listened to our stories and really got to know us. She was extremely personable, and it was clear she really loves what she does. It was an absolute joy meeting her. We had to get married 2.5 times during Covid. The first time was march 20, 2020. We had originally planned a huge wedding for that date but, as you know, parties dropped down to 10. Our officiant, Shelly, still came and performed the wedding for us. It was a very simple, small, courthouse wedding but she still made it absolutely beautiful. I am so glad it was her who was there because Im not sure I could have taken one more disappointment. Keep in mind, she had to completely redesign the wedding because we had some complicated things in there that just wouldnt work out under the new court house arrangement. Then, we rescheduled our party for July 4th because we believed that it would just take 2 weeks to slow the spread, as the government was saying. We loved Shelly so much that we rehired her. That wedding had to be cancelled because cases spiked and the governor and mayor shut us down. She refunded us the entire amount and just told us to give her a call if we decided to reschedule. Finally, the day came. March 20, 2021. She rewrote the entire wedding for us, included humor, and included everything I wanted. As happens with all weddings, we had to make some adjustments 2 days before because some of my family (who were doing key parts in the wedding) could not make it. Shelly was completely responsive and made the day very special for my husband and I. I got several compliments on her voice, tone, and overall mastery of officiating. We loved her speech, wedding organization and positive attitude. She went above and beyond for us - even finding a music stand at the last moment for my forgetful guitarist! I never plan on getting married again (planning 2.5 weddings in 1 year is enough for me!) But if i did, i would hire her again in a heartbeat.

I have struggled my whole life with peoples pronunciation of my name so it s something I m very aware of. This is why I stressed it to our officiant Gary repeatedly both verbally and in writing. Somehow, he still managed to completely butcher my name on my wedding day when announcing my husband and I for the first time. (My name is pronounced like Eileen- he called me Allen, which is a man s name and I am a woman.) It was extremely embarrassing in front of all my family and friends on what is supposed to be the best day of our lives, and even more so now when we just got our wedding video back and it s there loud and clear. I m not even sure we can get it edited out (or if so, if we will need to pay more). It s one thing to make a human mistake - it s another thing to make a mistake you were EXPLICITLY warned/told about. It s unprofessional and it is really upsetting. It is not one of those things that can go wrong and no one will notice. I m sure the company will reply to this review with an apology and an excuse, but I would make sure that before accepting that response to my review and booking them, that you re comfortable using a vendor on your wedding day that does not have a spotless record of success. Please ask yourself - are you willing to book someone that not only can t take explicit direction, but also made no effort to preemptively acknowledge his mistake and apologize? And then the company had the nerve to ask for free photo assets from me. If it was not clear, I do not recommend this company or Gary.

I just wanted to say that we had the best experience yesterday with our officiant from Short and Sweet Weddings Officiants, David Tropea. Before the wedding he really got to know us as a couple and what made us tick. His warm and genuine demeanor put us both at ease instantly, as soon as he was with us he was part of the family as well. Whether it was a moment of hectic befuddlement before the ceremony, mistimed music cues, or tripping down the aisle, he handled everything with a smile and grace. I cannot recommend Short and Sweet Weddings enough. They made everything so easy, and were always super professional. We used Jason F. for our wedding in January, and we were completely blown away. The ceremony was so reflective of us as a couple, and he was so sincere! We were shocked at how well he was able to fine-tune the ceremony for us after just a few calls getting to know each other. It seemed as though he had known us our entire lives! Our families and friends raved about how great he was, and how beautiful the ceremony was. He made such a huge impact on our special day, and we will forever be grateful for that!

Shelly was the MOST AMAZING officiant. She was recommended to me by my wedding planner, Brie, at Eclipse Event Co. I cant thank Shelly enough for the simple, yet meaningful, ceremony that Shelly wrote for us. She took all of our input into account, including any passages that we requested to be read. She was patient with our indecisiveness, yet guided us through what guests and couples appreciate most in a short and sweet wedding ceremony. Her expertise and advice are unmatched by others. David Koepka, with Short & Sweet Weddings, was everything we could have asked for. He said and did all the right things. My favorite thing about David was that he truly wanted the ceremony to be about US. He even made a few suggestions that made the ceremony even better. One example was suggesting we make the ceremony device free . This was one thing we did not think of ourselves, but thought was a great idea! He really wanted people to be there in the moment with us. He catered everything to us and our ideas and he navigated it all perfectly. In fact, we even had guests later compliment the great job he did. I cannot express in words how perfect he was for us and I know you will be 100% satisfied as well.

Who was your officiant?? Why havent I ever met this awesome friend of yours?! These were probably the most common questions after our ceremony. My (now) husband Michael and I met Jason for a mere 30-40 minutes a couple weeks before our wedding and he made our ceremony so fun, personal, and moving that everyone thought he was an old, close friend of ours. To tell the truth, he felt like one when we first met. Jason brought more to our ceremony than we had hoped for and Michael and I felt blessed to have him. David Tropea officiated our wedding and did an excellent job. During our meeting prior to the wedding, he had great suggestions for ways to incorporate our daughters into the ceremony. He also suggested other elements that made our ceremony unique and more than just the traditional vows. We had Noe Zavala as our officiant and we couldnt have picked anyone more perfect! My family is mainly Spanish speaking and my husbands family only speaks English. Noe brought a great dynamic to the ceremony and combined both languages into our ceremony. He kept it entertaining and even funny! My husband and I both said I do way before we were suppose to and Noe joked that he had never seen a couple so eager to get married! Lol. Everyone really enjoyed him and he was able to be super respectful with our minor religious traditions that we wanted to incorporate. He did beautifully at easing into our vows that we wrote. He showed up early and was ready to rock and roll. Before the ceremony he filled us all in on everything we needed. I would give Noe 100 stars if I could. Thanks Noe!

Jason did an outstanding job! I had so many people personally approach me to say that it was the most beautiful, sentimental ceremony they had attended, and I thank Jason for that! Shelly Cole was our officiant. I could tell from the first meeting I had with Shelly that she absolutely loves what she does. She made it clear that she wanted the ceremony to be exactly what we wanted it to be and that she would help with that process in any way she could. When my husband to be and I met Shelly to go over the details of the wedding, she spent a lot of time getting to know us so that the wording that she would compose for the ceremony would reflect our life, our personalities and our beliefs. Before the ceremony she met with both of us individually and went over the order of events and also went over the unity ritual with those who would be participating in that part of the ceremony to make sure everything would go seamlessly. Rev Cheryl Broome Performed such a beautiful ceremony for us. At least fifteen of our guests have reached out to tell us that they thought it was the most heart warming ceremony they have ever attended. What I think made our ceremony stand out was how personal Rev Cheryl was able to make it. Even though we had only spoken on the phone and responded to some questions she had over email. She was able to take what we told her about our relationship and build it into a very moving and personal story about why we wanted to be married. Another really cool thing is that she is willing to customize the ceremony to how you would like it. We asked that two of our siblings be included to do readings and she loved the idea and helped us pick out passages. We asked to include an Irish blessing in the ceremony and she gave us a few to choose from. It was outstanding. And she made us feel comfortable and excited! We really appreciate the wonderful words and will always cherish the perfect day! Thank you!

From the very first time we met with Scott up until our wedding day, he was attentive, understanding, and easy-going. Scott always made sure our opinions were known. We met in person twice, each time reassuring my husband and I everything would turn out spectacular. And it did. On the big day, Scott made his rounds and talked to everyone he needed to ensure everyone was on the same page. He made the ceremony light and funny, which everyone enjoyed. Though we had some technical difficulties with our DJ and the mic, Scott did what he could to continue with no obvious mishaps. Gary at Short and Sweet weddings made our short and sweet ceremony so memorable and perfect. He was so kind, caring and created the most incredible vows for our day. He was on time and made sure every detail went off without a hitch. We had our ceremony in front of the Long Center with the Austin skyline behind us after having to move locations from Zilker park and he was quick to help us plan and stay organized. We had Gary officiate our wedding this weekend and my husband and I can both agree that our ceremony felt very impersonal. The ceremony speech was read through very quickly and our family didnt get to hear anything said. We paid a pretty penny for what seemed like a 5 minute speech read at a low volume.
