Great seafood with some flair. Clam Chowder is wow. Fish and Chips, Paranella pasta hit the spot. Love the half shell oysters here as well. My favorite item on the menu was the Peruvian Scallop half shell. Like an oyster but so different and tasty. Great spot for a nice bite. High scale quality at a reasonable price.

I always love Salt Traders every time I go! It s one of my favorite seafood places in Austin, considering we don t live too close to the coast I always get the east coast oysters for appetizers, and it s great because they have a hot sauce wall where you can pick and choose from! If you re an oyster fan, they are delicious, and they have certain days where it s a $1 off oysters special! For their entrees, I ve had their lobster pasta, their scallop dishes, their salmon dishes and their steak dishes - and it s always been amazing for me! Their cocktails are also great - I usually either get the Bonnabel or the Painkiller depending on my mood, and it never disappoints. I ve gone to both the Round Rock and Austin location down Mopac, and both have been consistent when I ve dined in. Of course, this doesn t compare to seafood you ll get actually being along the coast, but I think it s amazing for what it s worth!

We came with high hopes reading the past reviews. We had reservations which allowed us to seat quickly. The service was prompt and friendly. A bit noisy in the restaurant but it appears this is intentional based on the interior design. We ordered the mussels first and split the crab Louie wedge. The mussels were fine but a bit of sand was randomly present. The salad had too much dressing overpowering the fresh crab. For entrees we ordered the birria fish tacos and the cioppino. Be forewarned the main fish used is Black Drum fish. The tacos were taken off the grill just before the cheese burned. If you like that smoky near burnt flavor, this is for you. The contents of the taco were rather scant, as I included a photo. Sadly, the cioppino did not fare better. Lots of sand in the broth and in the mollusks. The fish was mushy and not appetizing. I will say the wait staff did note my dissatisfaction and proffered me to try another dish. At that point, I was no longer interested in trying another potentially disappointing plate. The Bacon Mac side dish was fine, and became my entree. For us, a disappointing experience.

Tables were nearly up to our necks and we arent even that short! Customer service was poor and our server ignored us when we called for his attention twice. Our waiter also bunped into the table multiple times and threw off the entire experience. With that said, the other Salt Traders locations in town are a much better representation of the restaurant chain. After informing the manager he chose to make excuses for his employees behavior and even expressed disbelief that his employee would carry himself that way and told us that he might just be having a bad day We went on to tell the manager that he was completely cordial and well mannered with the people at the table positioned beside us yet somehow he seemed to only be having a bad day when he was at our table. Its become clear to me after this experience that the management at this place has no spine!

We got seated quickly because nobody was there when we arrived for an early lunch. It filled up quickly with all the tables in our section being filled. Somehow we got passed up and people seated way after us (two tables) had gotten their meals before we could even order. When we got our appetizers, we received grilled oysters instead of grilled scallops. He apologized and said he would take it off of our bill. He didn t. I still ordered the scallops because that s what I wanted. They both were the same flavor so pointless needless to say. We also got the crab fingers and those were delicious! When we got our sandwiches we were already full and took them home. Mediocre to say the least. Not impressed. If you re in the area go to Whiskey Cake instead. It will not disappoint!

Went here on 9/17/24 with my son expecting to have a great experience, to my surprise the service from Nicholas B was not good. He barely greeted us, nor did he smile the entire time he served us. He kept a stone cold face no matter how nice we were, nor how many times we thanked him for bringing items to the table. As a person of color it s usually NOT a good sign from a server especially when they are super nice to all the other white tables around ours. I waved him down to get a receipt for our purchase, he looked at me with 0 acknowledgment and walked the other way. When he took the neighboring tables s order he smiled and was very friendly to them. He even thanked them for ordering with a smile on his face! Not to mention he wasn t mindful of our space and bumped the table several times, again very different treatment than what was displayed to other tables. My son and I went the extra mile to make eye contact with him, smile and thanked him every time he brought us something or took our order, he never thanked us or welcomed us, until the very end reluctantly because of the obvious tip expected. When we spoke to Patrick the manager on the way out, he apologized for our experience while saying he was surprised that Nicholas was that way. He apologized while not giving any resolve other than stating that sometimes servers have bad days but they strive to make everyone s experience enjoyable. He gave 0 promise to make it right. Now I m aware of and have heard about the lie black people don t tip , but when people treat you as if that s how you are when you walk into their establishment by providing subpar treatment based on your skin color you just MANIFESTED EXACTLY what you don t want, a lousy tip. Now I DID TIP 18%. However it s optional especially when you are a sucky server because you are biased or racist. I will call it out! No more supporting business that give subpar treatment. Yes 1 rotten apple can ruin you bottom line. I ll be sure to no longer recommend this place to my network and record any recommendations I ve already made that have supported this business. If the manager showed more sense on how to appropriately correct these sorts of issues they may have saved themselves. Very unfortunate for a pescatarian family favorite. You can have the best food but when it s served with a negative energy I ll take my dollars where I m thanked and treated appropriately.

Came at friend s recommendation. Such a great late lunch! Everything was absolutely delicious! Lobster roll and subbed crispy Brussels sprouts, tacos, fish and shrimp plate, friend had steak frites lunch special. Clam chowda was some of the best we ve ever had. No photo, but two had the brownie dessert and devoured them. Key lime was pretty good as well. Somewhat attentive service as he was training (perhaps a bit lax on beverage refills). Awesome to know Texas can get great seafood too. We re from NC where there s a lot of fresh seafood available. Parking: Plenty

Courteous and personable service from the hostess to our waitress and trainee. Each of them wished us a happy anniversary. All food was delicious and flavorful! We had the ceviche tostadas, hush puppies and tuna tartare as our appetizers. For mains we had the cioppino and grilled tuna with street noodles. Both dishes were amazing! Finished the evening with the complimentary Boston cream cake special which was decadent yet light and a perfect complement to our meals. Thank you for a memorable evening! curbside was a nightmare. I used to love this place. the last 2 curbside orders I had were pretty bad. for the 2nd time I arrived 5 minites before my food was supposed to be ready, I text the number and got a response as the sign states. 15 minutes goes by no one comes out. I call the number instead and speak to someone on the phone who apologizes 10 times and says they will be right out. 10 minutes later as I get out of the car to go inside, out comes my order. I asked when it came out if it was going to be cold. I was assured it had just came out. now Im home and its ice cold AGAIN. go there eat inside and enjoy a meal do NOT order take out because 30 dollars a person for ice cold food is not acceptable. my order was also wrong as a side note.

This is a really nice restaurant. With how pricey this place is we expected better service than what we got. When we first walked in we had to greet the two hostesses and then they only replied with what s up. Then our waiter kept acting as if we were an inconvenience and was completely annoyed we wanted to take our left over fries home. To make matters worse the food had an off taste to it and wasn t the quality we expected for the price.

The fish was pretty greasy and the fries were so greasy we could not even eat them. I would expect this from a NON food fast food place however not anywhere I pd $50 plus for. I will not recommend this place anymore and will not be back. You seriously could have rung the grease out of the fries and well the fish was not quite as greasy. Parking: Was fine

Dont let the Jack Allen connection fool you. The restaurant has a awkward layout; especially if youre seated in the side room. This room is mostly concrete & cinder block that amplifies noise levels to an obnoxious level were it becomes difficult to communicate. My meal was equally disappointing. I had fish (Cod) & chips that was highly over salted and extra greasy. Ive travel England and Ireland and know great fish & chips from a contrived dish. Service was okay when we could hear our waitress speak. I do give the Maine oysters a thumbs up, but all in all it was a disappointing experience and probably will not return.

We were seated in the enclosed patio, which was loud and not as nice as inside. But the food was great, especially the raw gulf oysters, and the service was friendly. I will be back for more oysters next Monday.

We came across this restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was great. Oysters were fresh, and they had a good variety to choose from. We had a party of 7 and everyone was very pleased with their meal. They had desserts that we couldn t decide on, so we got one of each. The Coconut Mousse (I think that s what it was called) was exceptional and the chocolate brownie with Heath ice cream and butterscotch drizzle was probably my favorite. Great place, good atmosphere. Go check it out Parking: The parking lot was getting a new coat of paint. They looked to be finishing up, but it did complicate our parking. Still totally work it.

Salt traders is my favorite seafood place in Austin. They have a variety of options from fried seafood, lobster rolls, boils, and grilled options. Today, I tried a lunch special which was the Nashville Hot Po Boy with fries (with fried shrimp). The flavor was delicious and shrimp were cooked to perfection. This will be my go to lunch selection from now on - try it! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access to the restaurant.

Poorly executed dishes which probably should have been better. Soggy taco, funky dense possibly moldy bread, fish doesnt belong in birria, and they missed the point with the Louisiana BBQ shrimp

This is a nice restaurant. Definitely more pricy than your run of the mill places, but good food and service. First, we have always received excellent service here. In fact, it s a big part of why we like it here. The staff is attentive and frequently checks up on you, giving advice and accessories as needed. Kudos to them. Second, the food is good. The happy hour menu is quite a good deal. I feel happy eating here. Now, the location fills up fast in Friday, so go early then. On other days, the wait isn t long, but the place is typically bustling. Hope this place remains great for years to come.

We are so glad Salt Trader opened one in RR. It has become our weekly dining spot. The foods are amazing, especially the raw oysters are fresh and tasty. You pay what you get. The service is great. We have not had single unpleasant experience with their server. The parking lot has enough spaces even during peak hours on weekends.

The portions were fairly small for the price and there werent a lot of different menu options as far as the actual coastal portion of it. While they had a large selection of raw oysters, the quantities and grilled selections were limited to one. I ordered the grilled oysters. It only came in a half dozen order which I guess was because it was a starter plate. However I do think it would be an advantageous to have it as a actual meal and do a dozen or more or to add the option to have any of the various oysters as grilled. The drink selection was extensive however there werent any drinks on the cocktail list that I gravitated to, which is VERY rare for me. I ended up getting the lemonade basil cocktail I believe is the name, again not impressed. Because there are other really nice oyster bars in the round Rock area that may be considered dive bars, but they offer a lot more than this particular menu did. I wont be back but my server and all of the customer service was amazing.
