The only reason it gets two stars is cause of the bartender Alicia and Ashley actually took care of us. We sat outside cause we brought our dog and they told us that the bar outside opens at 6. When it hit 6:10, nobody was really outside which was fine, so we decided to go inside and order. It is a bit busy indoors so we wait by the bar to take our order. We watched two bartenders/servers take the orders for the people indoors and completely ignore us when we asked us if we could place an order. At first we figured they were busy, but then we saw that they were just talking with one another and didn t even ask if we needed anything. They looked at us and then just proceeded to ignore us. It wasn t until Alicia came around the bar and asked if we needed help. Luckily, when more people sat outdoors and we finally had an outdoor bartender named Ashley, she took care of us. Gave us what we needed. Probably won t come here again just cause our first time here gave us a sour taste in our mouths. Thought it was supposed to be a nice new experience, but I guess it s better to just go elsewhere.

Greeted very rudely when walking in the place. Told theres more places in the back. When my fiancé and I made it to the back the bartender couldnt even look up from her phone to Greet us. Had a GREAT time last night! Food was Tasty. I ordered the Margarita Chicken breast which comes with pico, guacamole, and a choice of 2 sides (I had mx rice, refried beans). The breast is on top of the sides and the pico and guacamole are on top of the breast. If you want them separated, I am sure you could ask. Beer is a tad pricey $4.50 plus taxes for 22 ounce BudLight. Would have loved if they would offer pitchers of beer. Maybe I thought they were pricey because I stayed so long and had many! Our Waitress, Kaylee was/is the Bomb! She was very attentive made sure our orders were taken promptly; everything was delivered quickly with very little wait (the place was hopping). Learned later that this is her first week and weekend to be working there. She was Awesome! The Alcove is a unique setting in that they have a smallish front area (front door as you walk in) that has a nice sized bar and some tables/chairs. As you walk through you head outside side to the rear bar and large patio/courtyard area. Outside food and beverages are served either at your table or at the walk up bar. Depending on the season, this area can be a tad hot during the day; yet, it is a great place to spend time throughout our summer nights. Additionally, there is another separate building that is connected/walls the patio/courtyard area that is accessed by a few stairs up. In this building there are a few games, etc.; a bar; and, one of the two of restrooms. I do not really enjoy hanging out in this room because it is separated from most of the action when Live music bands are playing. (A future costly glass garage door would do well here. More than likely, that type of structural change would not be allowed as the Alcove Cantina is located in Old Historical downtown Rock.) Much to our surprise, we were Entertained from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM by energetic, talented band, Trish and the Mizzbehavin Band! A Must See Blues, Soul, and Rock... WOO WOO! When we walked into the Cantina, we had only planned to stay for our meal and a beer. Then we were headed to run errands. Needless to write, we did not leave because we were having such a good time!

Went to have dinner there on Friday .. Paid my bill and left. The bank reconciled just fine and the appropriate charge was on the statements. TODAY (5-7-2024) they charged another bill on my card. So either someone there (employee) has taken a copy of my card, or someone there (Manager) is committing fraud against customers. I have called and demanded a phone call from the manager, so far no call back.

My wife and I discovered this place about 3 weeks ago. Since then we have been 5 more times. It is one of the most underrated Mexican food restaurants in Round Rock. I have yet to have something bad on the menu. The Mexican martinis are just as good. We watched them make them in front of us and you definitely get your moneys worth! (The girl that works behind the bar everytime we have been in is awesome!) I m so glad we discovered this place and now have a weekly go to for Mexican food and drinks.

Don t go here for lunch. This really seems like it s a nighttime kind of place. Lunch service is horrible. Only one poor bartender to do everything. Couldn t sit outside because she told us she probably would forget about us. The tables inside were dirty. Food is not great. We got cokes and the syrup ratio was off. *Beware! Queso tastes like a weird cheesy béchamel sauce.*Chicken in the chimichanga tasted dirty that s the best I can describe it. Rice was rubbery. Beef tacos gave my husband stomach problems and he has the digestive system of a possum.

This place was average. We sat ourselves in the back area and no server approached us despite walking around us. After five minutes we went up to the bar to ask for menus because it was clear no one was planning to attend to us. After that the bartender came and took our orders. Didn t bring waters, didn t bring the free chips and salsa that other people clearly had at their tables. Once the food came they were more attentive and checked in quite a bit. Went here for a friend s birthday dinner on a Friday evening. Our group chose to sit outside on the back patio. We quickly found out that there was no wait staff to take our food orders. Must put in orders at the bar. The bar out back was open and it wasn t packed so it was easy to get our order in. Food was delivered to our table one order at a time but quickly. I tried the shrimp tacos. They were not the greatest, kind of soggy. We tried the Mexican Lollipop shots - these were good! Atmosphere was great. Parking: Difficult to find close street parking but if you circle the block a few times you might get lucky. Or park in the garage a couple blocks away.

The food we had here was horrible! My husband got very sick from eating the tacos. He spent the day in the bathroom. I had chicken fajitas. They were terrible. The guacamole was brown, the sour cream tasted like it was spoiled, and the fajita meat was spiced with some sort of sour seasoning. The server didnt write down our order, and he messed it up.
