This is the third time I have ordered by phone and specifically ask for the food with certain ingredients and whatever you want, they put on it. I dont know if they do it because the waitresses are so mean, you order 2 different dishes and they only give you two sauces. They are different, which means they are for two different people. We live in Houston and have been to Austin many times. Never stopped at this place until today. Highly recommend authentic Mexican food. We ate quesadilla of squash flower, chilaquiles, flour and corn fajita tacos. The waitress Daniela greeted us kindly and served very politely. To drink we had hibiscus water, horchata water, and coffee. All drinks were very authentic. Hello, it is with great pleasure that we visit this place of authentic Mexican food. The waitress Daniela was very kind in serving us. We ordered to drink Jamaican fresh waters and horchata. Both are very authentic, especially the horchata one. The taste of authentic Cafe de Oya coffee. For food we ordered and recommend pumpkin flower quesdaillas, they are large, handmade tortillas. Different but very delicious fajita flour and corn tacos.

Two years ago I really liked this restaurant, thats why I decided to bring my family to eat here again but I realized that everything changed, the food has no flavor, terrible food, terrible quality. The coffee two years ago I remember that they served it in clay cups, now they give a very tasteless coffee in any cup. The only bathroom was useless. The tacos they served me had more cilantro and onion than meat and to make matters worse, the cilantro and onion were old and were not fresh vegetables. Terrible service, I never received the chips even though we had ordered them when they were delivered to the tables next to me. I will not return again and I hope this comment helps you improve.

This place is disgusting no pride on the way they made the food everything is rushed and sloppy and cold my pastor taco s smelled like they been sitting outside next to a dumpster smelled was so bad couldn t take a bite at all also raw tortillas and my burrito well missing ingredients that I paid for but to make it worse cold no flavor and the tortilla was probably warmed up in a microwave you can tell it was not pull on a grill or pan to toast it up. Edit: if you order through DoorDash, the portion sizes are always larger than if you come in person. But if you order from DoorDash, you steal money from the company because they are mom and Pop shop. I don t know how to go about this lol I went there in person and the portion sizes and even the amount of salsas they give you it s just less. Edit: man, I really love the food here. But the burritos have shrunk. And if you ask for sauce. They ll give you about an eighth of a teaspoon. It s really disappointing.

Today was my first visit to the restaurant and after hearing people rave about the food I was looking forward to a great breakfast treat. Sadly my wife and I were disappointed. My wife had potato and egg tacos. The egg was near cold, lukewarm at best, and dry, the tortillas were not soft. That aside she said the flavor was ok. My beef fajitas and eggs didnt fare much better. The eggs were dry, the onions and bell peppers were close to raw, the beef fajita meat was very bland, having next to no flavor, and the corn tortillas were not soft and were very ordinary. Sadly well not try tacos here again. We may try some different food in the future, but with the other Mexican restaurants around who do much nicer breakfast tacos, its easier to go where we know the food is tastier. Parking: Dirt/mud parking lot available. Spaces in the businesses each side of the building to park if it is needed.

Our first time at this restaurant.This place hands you a menu that states a breakfast plate of chorizo with eggs, potatoes and beans $9.99, (food was cold) then you get a receipt charging you $11.99, when we questioned the waitress she says, thats an old menu and they didnt have the new ones yet. Ok, you should inform all your customers before they order that the prices are higher than whats stated on the menu. On top of that she also said its $1.00 extra for breakfast plate after 11:00am, this is also not noted or mentioned by the waitress. Make sure you ask for price before placing your order. Everything was so good!! And beautifully presented at that. They also graciously complied our substitution requests. I got a breakfast plate. Good portion sizes, I was able to share a plate with my mom. The eggs were so fluffy and not greasy like most places. My dad said his menudo tasted very clean and fresh. Mom agreed. We also got a plate of platanos fritas for the table, which was amazing. My son had the flauta plate and walked out holding his stomach because he d stuffed himself, it was so good. lol Everything was so fresh and delicious, we ate every last bite of food that was served to us. Our waitress was so polite and kind. Safe to say we will Definitely be back next time we re in town.

Something happened :( I used to love ordering from El Rinconcito. True, some days were better than others, but lately, it seems like the food quality has gone way down. The last straw for me was when the Mexican rice I ordered was just plain white rice. This happened not once, but twice. Both times in my latest orders. The rest of my order was okay, but nowhere near as good as it was when we first started ordering from them months ago. The food recently, while palatable, is not worth going out of your way to get, in my opinion. I knew their consistency was a bit hit or miss, but it seems like theyve gone down the path of more misses than anything else. I dont recommend this place for people looking for some good Tex Mex. Try El Rincon instead - they are super consistent. EDIT: I gave them one more shot. This last time, the rice was still wrong and they completely ignored my order details. Pretty sure they arent reading order details.

Rancid, disgusting, careless preparation, and several items wrong. The Huevos rancheros was just eggs sitting in a pool of liquid, raw potatos, and missing the tortillas that go on the bottom. The requested veggie enchiladas contained no veggies, only rancid inedible chicken with dry crusty sauce and hardly any cheese. The verde chilaquiles was extremely soggy, but mostly just contained old brown lettuce, also in edible. The mushroom quesadilla looked like black goopy tar as shown in the pic, and the flavor was semi decent but made me question whether I should eat it. I ve been hoping to find those hidden gems around here but this is definitely not it. No heart here whatsoever atleast not with my order.

Had this place for the first time ever anf sorry to say but was disappointed. I placed my order ahead of time and when I returned to work, one of my tacos were completely soggy and inedible then I was missing another order. I do want to applaud them for offering to remake them and for me to pick up but with me being back at work.

Gotten Nearly everything off the menu. Amazing food. Inexpensive and great portions. Best kept secret. Don t expect luxury. If you want luxury go to a luxury restaurant. This is your local hole in the wall semi-authentic with fresh twists inexpensive food establishment. If you want artisan food go pay for it at higher pricing Austin is FULL of artisan cantina Tex mex restaurants that are way over priced... go to one... This is cheap... but good! Lots of fat, lots of flavor, BIG portions. ***To those saying it lacks flavor my mind is blown... In my opinion most Mexican food the more authentic it is has very bland chiles and spices that have a bitterness to them... that s kind of the point. It s what makes the flavors of everything harmonious. I often find the food here salty but it s a fast food/inexpensive place. So I expect that and sometimes I enjoy that about it... It s not like chipotle with salty lime... it s flavors based in red sauces, pozole, menudo, Barbacoa... the chiles in spices don t burn they just add hints of flavor. Jalapeños and onion can add the burn... which they always give a side of jalapeños, cilantro, onions... so you can adjust it to your liking... if you want more salt... add it??? Because everything else is there... It s not like having Taco Bell and chipotle with their explosive fake fresh flavors and lots of salty lime seasonings and ranch dressing or overloaded on jalapeño with mush textures... If you want that go to Chipotle or Taco Bell. This place has more authentic stuff traditionally made the way Mexican people do it... Their menudo is so similar to my own Abuelas. I love it and I m so grateful and thankful! My fav Mexican restaurant in town. I go once a month atleast. Amazing food. Amazing staff. Food is FAST and I hope they stay around forever. Kind of sick and tired of people who don t understand ethnic or cultured foods and wanting every Mexican restaurant reduced to a chipotle style burrito place... Happen with Taco Cabana and keeps happening. If you want Chipotle... or tex mex or anything of the sort GO THERE. Do not go to Mexican restaurant... As for me I ll keep returning and telling my family and friends who love some good seasoned Mexican food to keep returning and try it out! Dishes I love: The Soups. (Menudo, Pozole, Any.) Enchiladas. Barbacoa. Breakfast Burritos. Those I always fall on but everything else is amazing as well.

Terrible experience with Barbacoa order. First, throwing fat in dry carne gusada does not make it Barbacoa. Second, if you chopped it, you probably undercooked it. Chewy, dry meat, no flavor. Youve done better than this before.

I share the same views as those who ate here. There is no flavor. The lack of flavor made me second guess if I was sick until I ate something else. The rice is bland, the bistek tacos are chewy and lackluster. It was so bad I had to throw everything away.

Food is not terrible but underwhelming. Everything was lacking flavor, under seasoned, and all produce was not ripe. On top of that the order we placed was not filled correctly. The folks here are very nice.
