For a seafood restaurant it does not meet the standards for sea food boil , the shrimp was dry w no flavor, it looks like they only sprinkled the seasoning on top. The corn tasted like they took it out the bag & heat it up on the microwave. The Tilapia was cooked in some parts, some of it was fully cooked & other parts were chewy. The only highlight of our dinner was the fries & the drinks. Although i will say that the service was good, despite the food being terrible, the workers were coming in to check in to make sure everything was good. Overall, i would not recommend this place for sea food boil, they are better options in the area!

Went to Dodis for my birthday. It was amazing. Parking was difficult because its a busy area, but the restaurant wasnt super busy. Megan, our waitress, was great. She checked us. Megan was sweet, attentive, and informative. When she was busy, the manager checked on us, then the busboy checked on us. Megan was engaging and kind. The food was really good too. I will be going back.

The food and prices were very good, and the view was gorgeous! When the weather is right, you have to sit outside and enjoy it! Our server, Crystal, was super sweet & energetic. I ended up not getting one of the items I ordered, but they were super kind and apologetic. I ordered the beignets & grits, & the meal was delish! The bees outside were very active and annoying (although I love bees), so be aware. Parking was rough, so get there early and be patient. Im already looking forward to visiting again. I definitely recommend!

The service was outstanding! We were in town for a wedding and had never heard of this restaurant before. We loved the atmosphere. We started off with seafood nachos which were so good! I got the Crab Legs with seasonings and was disappointed by the flavor. My husband got A Taste of New Orleans and loved the flavor of everything on the plate, a lot of rice in each dish. I would say things here are a bit overpriced but the staff being so attentive made it worth the price.

The service and atmosphere were excellent! We were disappointed with the Cajun slaw. It was large chunks of cabbage, dry, and the seasonings did not compliment the slaw. The red beans and rice tasted burnt. That being said, that was 2 side dishes. The seafood gumbo and shrimp & catfish dish were ok. I think that we may have gone at a bad time/day or ordered the wrong dish however, the waiter was really good and it is a nice restaurant on the lake! I am sure there is more to explore that are really good.

This was my second time back at this location since I m from Houston and the food is fantastic! We had the charbroiled oysters, fried green tomatoes, the catfish nuggets, the Cajun torpedoes and the beignets. All of it was fresh, seasoned great and really delicious. Our waiter was friendly and a manager was going around to the tables to ensure everyone was satisfied. Well worth the trip today Parking: This location is in a strip center so you have to park in the lot and walk, but it s not that bad

They ran a promotion on yesterday, and expecting to attract new customers. I was hesitant to try out the place since there has been mix reviews. The promotion on social page is too good to be denied. Frist, the waiting list is about 30 minutes which is fine for a crowded day and holiday. After seating, servers keep saying that bartender walked out and quit then drinks would be taken longer than usual. We order 5lbs crawfish, dozen oyster, and bucket of 5 beers. It took 15 minutes to have beers, and 30 minutes to have raw oyster ( not really fresh), 1 hours and 10 minutes to have crawfish served ( crawfish isnt real Louisiana spoil, they steam and put the Cajun salt on top). The only thing is good that the crawfish is pretty fresh. Their excuses were super short staffs including kitchen. However, who has an idea that running promotion all day and not managing to have enough people.

If I could give Dodies zero stars I would. Why? Because I never received my food (nor drinks that we didn t have to chase down). First the wait was 30+ min for a table. Not a problem when you are busy. Ordered two drinks from the bar while waiting. 40 minutes later they finally call us and our table is ready. No server comes by for over 15 minutes. The manager finally comes by and asks if we had been helped. We replied no and she took our order. Then a server comes and said she put in our order but the kitchen is behind and it may take a little bit. Ok. We order two more drinks and literally an hour sitting at this table and no drinks or food (apparently the bar was behind too ) so we left. I really wanted some crawfish. Should have went to Nate s in Addison to begin with. Lesson learned

Dodies Cajun Restaurant, located in the Harbor at Rockwall, is a nice taste of great Cajun seafood. I had not been there in over 5 years but I had talked about going all the time. Last night, we decided to have a late dinner there. My husband had never been there before. We were seated very quickly, no wait, but like I mentioned, it was a late night dinner avoiding crowds. We were seated in a large padded booth that had small TVs with sports playing. We asked to change the channel to which the hostess, with some help, did very quickly putting on an old college football championship. We started our evening dining experience with a dozen chargrilled oysters smothered deliciously in garlic, seasoned too perfection paired with the most delicious garlic bread Ive ever had. These were a great start to our meal. We placed our entree order with our delightful waiter. I wanted crabcakes but also wanted the shrimp and grits, so I ordered them both. My husband had wanted the fried oyster dinner, but unfortunately, they were out of oysters. However, our brilliant waiter, James, suggested that he try the Seafood combo that had a nice mixture of fried catfish and shrimp that included Cajun seasoned French fries. He also wanted the crabcakes as well so ordered as well. Ill start with my meal. The crabcakes were meaty and lightly baked with not much filler. They paired well with the shrimp and gouda grits. The grits were delicious with the added gouda, and the shrimp were plump and meaty. However, shrimp included the tail, which I would have preferred served off the tail. My husbands meal was also very delicious. The fried catfish was seasoned perfectly and lightly fried as well as the shrimp. The Cajun fries were cooked crispy the way they should be. By the end of the meal, we were stuffed and happy passing on dessert. The dessert menu looked very tempting. They do have a full bar that offers awesome Happy Hour prices, but I dont think that applies on weekends. Check on daily hours of operation. Dodies also has a wonderful patio that looks out on Lake Ray Hubbard. The patio is very festive, with party lights hanging above. Our waiter, James and the other staff were very nice and efficient. The manager came around several times to make sure everything was going well. Its the little things that make a great meal enjoyable. Parking is in the big lot, which can be problematic at times. Another reason we go late. There is not enough handicapped parking, but they do have it. The location is easy to get too off of I30 East Side service road and also Summer Lee Drive at the Harbor closer to the Hilton. I did not use the ladies room, but my husband used the Mens room and said it was clean. Our dinner at Dodies was a wonderful, fun dining experience, and it will not be another 5 years before we return. Update- Returned tonight had fish tacos, gouda grits and a side salad. Tacos were marginal would skip next time. Its always nice to try something different everytime I visit. Service was still excellent. I added additional pictures.

We tried this place for our anniversary and were greeted at the door and seated right away. Our server James came by and got our drink orders. First off I would say this place is more Creole (New Orleans) style food. We ordered the Crab Cakes and Cajun Torpedoes both were very delicious and tasty. But the Fried Green Tomatoes were just the the best. The Cajun Torpedoes had a little spice. When then ordered a pound of boiled Crawfish which came out perfect. The corn was cooked perfect, sometimes this will be overcooked but not here. The potatoes were just right and the sausage was delish. The Crawfish the star of the show. Cook to perfection and had a nice spice level. Our server James was fantastic and was very helpful and knew the menu very well. We found the restaurant very clean as were the restrooms. I see us returning again and again. Reminds me of home in New Orleans. Cannot wait to return. Parking: This is located in the Rockwall Harbor district so plenty of parking can get very crowded on the weekends.

Would not recommend this Dodie s location. We came on a Sunday around 6:30 PM. We were seated immediately, but our server did not arrive until about 15 minutes later. Our party of 4 each order a drink, we also placed an order for a dozen charbroiled oysters at the same time. Our drinks arrived and they were incredibly sweet and watered down. One person ordered frozen drink that was halfway melted when brought to the table. We had to flag another server down to get in contact with ours. She was able to take the drinks off the bill. About another 30 minutes go by, and still no oysters. We ask the server about the oysters and she assured they were coming out right now. We opted to just get them to go and asked for the check. We paid and waiting for the oysters to come out. Another 15 minutes go by, and finally the oysters come out. Some of the worst looking charbroiled oysters I ve ever seen. Thrown together, barely any cheese, and the bread was not toasted. Save your money and your time and go to the Dodie s in Dallas.

My husband and I attended this place. We were met by friendly hostess. This weekend was a celebration of life for the loss of a loved one. The waitress took our drink order and 2 cups of gumbo. Another table was sitting beside us after us. She took there drink order along with appetizer brought there drinks and appetizer and never checked on us. Someone else brought our gumbo no spoon said they would come back with spoons never did. Our waitress looked at us and took the other tables order that came in after us. We got up to leave She asked if we were leaving and told us to pay for our drinks I told her I would we went to get the manager and and she ran to get the manager. I followed her I told her Im right here Im not leaving without paying for our drinks. The manager apologized she was not sure why we had gumbo with no spoons and took care of our drinks I told again we would pay but she again apologized. The manager was nice but the waitress needs customer service she totally ignored us and saw us right beside the table she was so much helping. Will never go back

Client Dinner Dodie s was selected for the seafood and water views. Maddie the hostess seated us but apparently forgot to tell our server. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to visit our table, a trip inside revealed that Maddie was our server . Miscommunication?? We watched Maddie and several other servers visit tables but not once did any of them ask if someone was helping us. Understading that tables are assigned, there was still an opportunity for exceptional service to be provided. Have you all been helped , would ve been a wonderful display of exceptional service especially since the restaurant wasn t too busy. The Crawfish Half & Half dish was very disappointing. The etouffee was and paired with very hard rice. The overpowering taste of vinegar in the Cajun coleslaw was shocking. The Blackened Redfish was pleasing to the palate. This dining experience offered amazing views of the lake and an opportunity to bird watch. Notice in the photos only half of the Cajun Half & Half was consumed.. ironic. Eat some, toss the rest Parking: With so many restaurants and shops depending on the day/time, parking seemed to be a bit challenging. Be prepared for a nice little stroll.

Great food, large portions and super dog-friendly patio. Seafood nachos are awesome, I will get those every time. They give you so much crawfish meat and shrimp on top. Also had the étouffée with the gouda grits, which was flavorful and satisfying. Gotta be honest, I hated the key lime pie, I thought it was bland and weird but everything else was delicious. Étouffée tasted like home cooking. They brought my dog a bowl of water automatically, which she appreciated. Everyone was so nice to my dog and she just ate it up. I forgot to take a picture of my food but here is my dog enjoying some loving from the staff. I do not remember the name of my waitress but she is the pretty girl who has two blue heelers! Hopefully I will have her next time. If you have a dog this is the place to take them.

Wouldve given 5 stars but I dont believe the fish I was eating was catfish...I believe it was swai ( as lots of restaurants illegally do). If you pay your money for catfish, thats what you should get. Gouda grits were good, stuffed mushrooms were great! Drinks were wonderful. Nice, fun atmosphere, wonderful outdoor atmosphere with outdoor dining, huge lake, shopping.

Waiters and bartenders are always very accommodating. Starr (Bartender) seems to be always working when we are there and she is so friendly and accommodating. All of the staff are great! Best service, had every server stop at my table and all with smiles and friendly attitude. Best food hands down, and I have eaten Cajun all over the south including NOLA and I would put this food up against them. Great flavors, rich and creamy sauces. If you are near, stop in. Grace rocks and she steered me in all the right and best choices! This has to be some of the best service I have received in a long time and I travel extensively for work. I will bring my family, including a toddler, to enjoy it as well.

The food is terrible and drinks were awful. Ive had a better Cajun dining experience at a cracker barrel in Charles lake. If you sit on the patio you will be attacked by birds trying steal your food, no other restaurant in the harbor has this problem. Save your money. Service was fantastic tho, the young man who waited on us was attentive, knowledgable and personable. He is waisting his time and losing money here.

We ate at Dodies today 3/29/2023 at around 12:00pm and sat at a table right inside to the right. Our waitress was horrible and didnt check on us regularly and left us with no drink refills multiples times. The food was subpar. The fried catfish was limp and had no flavor, the portion of the gumbo was supposed to be a bowl, but looked like a cup, the fried pickles were over salty and very greasy. I also ordered crawfish etouffee with a side Caesar salad to go, they places the etouffee, which is a soup, in a regular to-go container leaving a absolute mess in the bag when we got home and they put dressing on the salad which was to go, no salad to go should be dressed. When the to go food was eaten upon returning home, we found a hair in the etouffee causing massive sickness to my husband. This is the worst service and food I have had in a very long time and I will never return to this disgusting establishment.

I went to order to-go and have a drink while I waited. We were sent to the bar by the host. Bartender, Starr, continued to work without greeting us for approximately 10 minutes. She, instead, greeted and assisted patrons at the bar who arrived after us. When we finally got her attention, she said she couldnt take our order and we needed to order with the hostess. We told her we were sent to the bar, and she complained about that and handed us a menu. She fixed the drinks and handed them to us, and proceeded to ignore us while we waited to order. We ordered our food and waited 45 minutes for our order. We continued to ask where our order was as the restaurant had roughly 20 people there, and people who arrived after us were served. ( My ticket was cashed out at 10:53. Our order arrived at 11: 42) It wasnt until I asked for my money back that the orders magically appeared and were brought to us. I will not return to this restaurant due to lack of basic and non- discriminatory customer service.

Seriously the BEST crawfish in Texas. I came in from waco and was apprehensive due to the crawfish season - but holy cow a complete game changer. Crawfish were huge! Tasty! All spice levels and quick! The atmosphere was so fun and the service was amazing from (i think his name was Dameon or Daveon?) anyways I ve ate at all the crawfish spots - Te jun, mudbugs in Mississippi, Nate s, etc you name it but Dodies was by far the absolute BEST! Thank you! We will be back again today! It wouldn t allow me to post a photo - but my crawfish was BEAUTIFUL AND TASTY!!

The catfish is Chef s kiss. Wow. Some of the most perfectly seasoned catfish I ve ever had. It was so good that we ordered two orders of catfish nuggets because no one wanted to share. We also ordered fried pickles which were also very delicious and seasoned to perfection. I also ordered the dirty rice which didn t have the flavor I was expecting it was underwhelming. The French fries were cool, but they had a strong vinegar taste to them. I think the abundance of seasoning takes away from the natural flavor of the fry. Our server was attentive and moved swiftly. Overall, I d return. The things I didn t like weren t so bad that they outshined the things that I loved. I recommend this restaurant.

Horrible experience! Today we ate there. They gave me absolutely dirty utensils. I requested another set and it came dirty too. Finally I went to the manager an requested a clean set from HIM! Dirty place!!!!! Garbage is on the floor practically everywhere! Windows terribly dirty! (It looks that their cooks or cleaning personal clean them themselves because they were greasy, and one can see how they did it. Smudges in many places.) That place has a big health problem! I will report them to the authority! B.t.w. this place never was like that a year ago or so.

We were told they were out of stuff and then all of a sudden they had it. Food came out cold. Its a 14 person bar top and they cant handle the 8 ppl that were sitting there! She had to have the bar back come and take food orders. I have never seen a bartender so bad at multitasking.

We really like it, but the last time we took some guests and I guess we stayed too long because the staff kept coming by to see if we were going to order more while we were hanging out after we finished. Probably shouldnt do that to a group that had just spent $200. Parking: Harbor parking is awful, dont even worry about parking close. Just save time by parking further away.

Ordered it again and it was the same thing. Manager walks up to us and tells us he will take care of us which never happen. We were then frustrated, ordered our desserts to go. They brought one of them out, but yet gave the cheesecake to the people behind us. We had to wait 20 more minutes. We just wanted to have a nice Dinner but, it was a disaster, ruined our Valentine s Day. We will never be back there.

We went on a Tuesday night it was not busy at all. There was two of us and we were celebrating. Food was pretty good we had crab legs and their chicken tenders and fries and salad and ordered a meal to go for someone. Their crab legs were pretty good, but the chicken tenders were very small and you only got like 4 tenders and they have no gravy. Fries and salad were good. We had a couple of hurricane drinks which were good. The chips and salsa and queso were okay they have green salsa instead of the red. My only issue which is kinda serious is that when we were handed our bill it said $109 and some change, and then we gave our waitress a $20 bill for a tip and payed the rest with debit card. When we looked at what the transaction said on the debit card notification it said $129 and some change. Which means we were rang up $20 extra dollars from what our bill originally stated which we have the $109 receipt. We didnt authorize for anymore to be taken from our debit card and we gave our tip in cash, so I guess the waitress took it up on herself to add another $20 afterwards for herself, so place was okay, but prob wont go back due to extra money being taken without authorization.

However, the guy that was in front of us was seated at a table not in the bar area was greeted promptly. We left and went down the street to Chilis and was greeted promptly, even though they were busier than Dodies. If it was busy in Dodies, i wouldve understood.
