My first Shabu Shabu experience overall was good. I wasn t sure what is the best experience. There are multiple servers in this place but only one lady was walking around to explain it was quite a wait, they placed the ingredients she had to turn around to explain and take orders I wish all the servers actively helped in all the work. You need to select a base, protein and the sides are included which will be rice, sauces and veggies. The veggies weren t really fresh they were cut and kept I assume. The flavors were great we took half of miso and half creamy chicken we really enjoyed the flavors if you needed something the servers to forever I wish it was a little more organized and there was severs designated rather than haphazardly.

Good Shabu Shabu for the price. There are a lot of times that are considered Happy Hour, so check out their menu to see if youll be able to go at one of those times. The server was a little more casual than I generally like, but he knew the menu well and was pleasant. I ordered the karaage to start, which was decent, nothing special. For the broth, I went with Tonkatsu, but theres so much water, I think I should have gone with miso. I also chose ramen noodles, which were nice. For meat, I had prime ribeye, wagu toro, and pork belly. The wagu toro was really good, and I probably could have eaten a second helping, but I would have been in physical pain. I noticed the menu also said Pork Berkshire, which I asked the server about, and he told me it was a shoulder cut. Berkshire is a breed of pig, not a cut, so I just think the wording on the menu could be clearer. Berkshire is a great heritage breed of quality pork, so I was pleased to see it offered at least. The vegetables were better than no vegetables, but nothing really of note. The sauces were all fine, I was a little disappointed in the peanut sauce, but mixing two parts teriyaki with one part ponzu was my favorite on both the beef and the pork. Overall, it was a good meal, and I would come back if I was staying in the area again. I was staying at a hotel nearby, so this was an easy, convenient, good option for a reasonable price.

I must say, this Shabu Shabu restaurant is undoubtedly the worst Ive ever experienced in my life. I strongly advise against going there. The setting is incredibly disappointing, deviating far from what one would expect from an authentic Shabu Shabu experience. Moreover, the quality of the seafood is subpar, to say the least. The most unacceptable aspect, however, is the rice its excessively dry, making it an unsuitable accompaniment for Shabu Shabu dining. In summary, its best to steer clear of this restaurant!

The staff are very accommodating and you really won t find service like this anywhere else! I love that they slide the meat right after you order it- no more huge ice crystals! Every hot pot place I ve visited always has ice covering their meat. I cannot recommend this restaurant more! 10/10. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a lower bar which I feel would be extremely accessible for wheelchair users.

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my family. It kinda got spoiled when the containers that hold the green onions and daikon were not made fresh. The green onions were slimy and rancid. Daikon didn t smell like daikon. They don t change them out as they should. Daily. The second was the rice was too hard to eat. We paid 300+ just for 6 of us not to enjoy because we traveled all most 1 hr we didn t want to complain. As a family that eats rice everyday hard rice is a no no. And spoiled sides. This all could have be prevented. The only thing was good is the meat.

We were pretty disappointed by our visit. And we were excited about the great reviews. Unfortunately, the food wasnt great, and the servers are really unsanitary when handling raw meats. It really turned us off on the whole meal. We came on a weekday night, so it wasnt busy at all. We ordered, and our server gloved up and cut up the meats, touching each slice and weighing things before serving -- pretty standard. Then, with the same gloves and without even washing them, he proceeded to grab our cups to serve us more water, scoop bowls of rice, touching everything from spoons to bowls and chopsticks. He did this while serving us and other tables like everything was normal. We did eat a bit before noticing all this, and the food and broth was just ok at best. The sauces were the only thing with good taste. Once we noticed how unsanitary things were, we stopped eating and asked to pay. Of course, our server handled my card with his dirty hands. We left pretty disgusted and disappointed. Thankfully, neither of us got sick but pretty safe to say well never come back.

The food is alright. The only reason I give 1 star is the automatic mandatory 18% tip added to the bill regardless of party size. The tip should be determined by the customers. Sadly the greedy restaurant owner doesnt realize this. If theres no mandatory tip, I might tip up to 20%. With this mandatory 18%, it become a one-time only restaurant for me. Will never go back. Update after seeing owner s response: Why is it my responsibility to pay your staff wage? As a restaurant owner isn t that paying your staff properly is one of your responsibilities? If you are asking customer to pay your staff livable wage , are you gonna share your profit with customer? I don t know where you get this idea that you can just completely shift the wage responsibility to customers. As a customer I come to restaurant for food and service and how much I wanna tip for the service is up to me. This mandatory tip policy pushes customer like me who has no problem paying tip but hate mandatory 18% and leave your restaurant become a one-time only place. Get real.

The staff does a great job explaining how to prepare your swish swish and what your options are for broth, noodles, flavor, etc. Ive eaten at this location several times and once at the McKinney/Frisco location...both are really awesome but the Richardson location is my favorite for atmosphere. Update: The only menu items available are the shabu ingredients and drinks. There are no apps, which is quite disappointing because I loved the garlic noodles. The meats are still very fine quality, but they reduced the type and size of vegetables. No more pumpkin, no more mushroom variety, and you get one slice of a regular ol mushroom and one slice of carrot. I am quite disappointed with the changes. They are not for the better. ------- Getting my husband to try this place was a challenge, but I got two thumbs up at the end of our meal. What to expect: 1) They keep the restaurant cool because the hot pots are, well, very hot. 2) We got three apps, and they were all delicious. I especially liked the garlic noodles and karaage. 3) The servers will come by, start the broth with aromatics, and get your order. We had prime beef and pork with the tonkatsu broth. Id like to try seafood and miso next time. 4) Dump your veg in the broth and wait a few minutes for them to cook. Use chopsticks to hold meat and swish around to cook. Dip the meat or veg in sauce, then eat with rice. 5) At the end of the meal, they will use the broth to make you a noodle soup bowl. That was my favorite part of the meal. The broth was absolutely fantastic. This is probably not the best place for rowdy or young children. There is so much going on to cook your food. Trying to feed a child at the same time would be extremely difficult. Also, unless you are getting small plates, I wouldnt recommend takeout. This meal should be experienced. The service was spectacular, too.

I RARELY leave reviews -The service was subpar at best Everyone acted as if this was their first time ever serving people. Our server was quiet and didn t make my sauces correctly even thought I told him multiple times that I didn t like some of the garnishes they had. I think someone gave us 1 smile the entire time. I had to flag down someone anytime I needed something (to get our broth, to start our ramen, to ask for rice, and to get the check) because they rarely attended the table. We had 3 different people explain to us how to eat hotpot (we ve been to several hotpot places around Texas). Why is it so complicated? They were so rigid and acted like if you tried to cook/eat anything out of order then you were doing it wrong. -Get less bang for your buck You pay per plate, and it s additional $ for eggs, noodles, or to make anything spicy. Also, you get charged additional $ if you re a vegetarian. The meat is alright, it tastes the same as what you would find at an all you can eat hotpot. Basically, it s a SCAM.

My fiance and I used to be regulars here. This place saw us from awkward first date to moving in together. We loved the staff, and had a wonderful experience every time. But slowly the staff got replaced until we almost couldnt recognize anyone there, and the service became nonexistent. The last straw was about a year ago when my fiance found a bug in his veggies. He discretely pointed it out to the servers. He was ignored for about 20 minutes prior to having someone change out his plate and get him ingredients that didnt have a bug. No apology, and then he was ignored for the rest of service as if he did something wrong by refusing to eat a bug with his lunch. He contacted the manager after we got home to get a bit more help with this. We love the manager, hes the best part of the restaurant. He was very apologetic and offered to make our next meal free, which we appreciate, but its very hard to want to go back to a restaurant where you found a bug in the food. We havent been back since.

It took some time before we were assisted. We thought it s normal as it looks like they are short handed. When one of the staff approached us he started to put spring onion in our base then made a comment that we are hoping to do that so we can control the amount. And his face totally changed - and while taking order he was using his phone and totally didn t interest to ask other things we need. (I figured this as I compared his questions to the customer besides our seat) He also forgot the other order and we were assisted by someone else. In short, we have a poor experience with the customer service. The last staff who assisted us was so kind and hopeful to change our experience but the first tall guy staff NO CARE at all. About the food, if you are a person who likes mix and match this restaurant is for you. Which I enjoyed doing but the base doesn t taste well at all. The base was bland and not appealing with our taste buds. One of the observations, they serve peanut sauce which they should consider asking allergies to people first before anything else. The price of the food is way too far for its worth. Comparing to other shabu-shabu we ve been to in Dallas - this is the most expensive and poor quality. It is fine to pay more if it compromised with the service and food quality but unfortunately it didn t. I failed to take photos as we were starving but I surely have the receipt photo. We were forced to give tip to unworthy service. We will not go back to this place and hopefully they will improve their customer service and base.

As others have said- pre-pandemic, this was the spot. Now, it s a shell of what it used to be. The broth was not as flavorful, and when I asked for a bit more, they just poured water in. The veggies are terrible- they only provide mostly cabbage- broccoli, onions are all added expenses. The dishes had a fun dishwashing fluid taste, which greatly effected the food. Service was slow- and they tack on a 18% gratuity no matter what- it s mentioned no where. Also, the prices went up severely- it s just not worth it. The taste isn t there. It s all watered down.

This restaurant has gone south from previous experiences. Apparently it s under new ownership. Start out with water they pour broth in so lacks flavor. Veggies are cabbage, carrots and mushroom. They re unlimited but you only get about a soufflé cup at a time. The broth use to be turned into a soup toward the end, no longer do that plus it s watered down so don t really want it. Finally two big problems I had, vegetables, utensils, rice at the bottom of my bowl all tasted of dish water and for 2 people 3 meats with tea was $100 dollars!! Understand inflation but this was highway robbery. Stay away

Loved this place! Meats are always top notch. I always get the spicy tonkotsu & wifey gets the spicy miso base. They are understaffed for a saturday night, and sometimes they forget to bring you what you ask for because they just have too many things to do all at once. So service leaves more to ask, but the food compensates it. Prices are okay. They depend on what type of meet you order. We go for wagyu toro (the cheapest) and ribeye prime (which taste really good). The other ones more expensive have a bit more marbled, but you can easily overcooked them and loose the flavor. They used to have better prices and meat combos tho, which they can bring them back.

Staff is very rude and confrontational. Menu is much smaller than before and more expensive. We were Auto charged a gratuity for a party of 2! Who does that!? They have removed all appetizers and add on like fried rice. With a reservation we still had to wait 45 min for a table and the manager would rather argue with us when we asked if the table was ready than prepare the table and seat us. Very rude, very confrontational. We were there for my wife, and friends birthdays, if it had not been for that we would all have left immediately. We have dined here many times before and always enjoyed the food and service. The rudeness and the removal of some o our favorite options on the menu and the pricing have soured us on this restaurant. I will not be back.

Holy cow! My wife and went looking for a decent sushi place in Richardson Texas. This venture was a failure. This is, until Tina asked me Have you ever had Shabu Shabu? . I had not. She said there us suppose to be a great Shabu Shbu place in Ricahrdon. I guess shabu shabu is a way of cooking vegetables and meats in boiling seasoned water on the table in front of you. I have never been to a place like this. I am so glad we found Yoshi! The servers were very helpful and patient. They showed how to properly prepare and cook our food. We each had own pot pot that we cooked vegetables and the meats of our choice - ribeye, wagyu beef, scallops and more. Itwas wonderful! If you are looking for something different and extraordinary, I recomend Yoshi Shabu Shabu. I guess shabu shabu means the sound your food makes as you swish it through the boiling brauth in front of you.

Delicious and fun. There have been some changes since before the lockdown. Id love to see more squash and mushrooms on the vegetable plate. One little slice of each and a huge mound of cabbage was a bit disappointing. The meat was still very high quality and tasty and the sauces and spices are still amazing. Portions are a bit smaller, but we still over ate and had leftover soup to take home. If its your first time going, definitely ask the staff to help you and walk you through the cooking process. Its not complicated, but is a lot more fun if youre not worried about messing up.

I really dont know what the fuss about this place is where theres much better places out there (like Squares). We decided to give it a third try after going twice years ago and not enjoying it. We came in and there were barely anyone inside. We were seated at a table in the back. After ordering drinks, another server walks up to us and tells us, You cant sit here. Say what? We were seated here by our waiter. He then states were gonna have to move before even telling us that the table was already reserved for someone else. We had to sit at the bar with 3 kids trying to reach across to feed each one. We over hear the guy who moved us complaining about how he has to work on his birthday. Service was really slow even though there were over 10 people on staff in the front that we could count and many more in the back. At the end of our meal, we got up, looked back, and this reserved table was still empty. All the workers in the back horse around and flirt with each other constantly. It takes them 10-15 minutes to slice up a few pieces of meat because theyre in the back dancing around.

Long time customer, havent been since the pandemic. I had lunch with my wife and our bill was $77.64. Receipt attached. We were charged $11 in gratuity for a party of 2 and our meals were twice as expensive as what they use to be. The service was mediocre at best and definitely did not deserve the forced gratuity. Never have I been charged gratuity for a party of 2 here or anywhere else. Very disappointed in our experience and as a long time customer I wont be back. The change in pricing is ridiculous. The service is rather poor and always has been but the food made up for it. Not this time. Scallops smelled terrible when brought to the table and tasted just the same. Drinks not served before food, manager argued when I asked for more water in my boiling pot, pricing drastically increased, scallops were borderline rotten, poached egg was cooked for 10 minutes and came out hard as a rock, veggies portion was about half the size in comparison with pre-pandemic, took over an hour to order eat and pay when the place was rather empty. Overall a very poor experience and this place e is nothing like it was when the owners were there daily. The Frisco location is much better service wise but the pricing change has left a bad taste in my mouth. Parking: Limited parking out front Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly

After eating here I was shocked about the positive reviews. I looked at the people that reviewed this place then it makes sense. This place serves gentrified asian food, if you are looking for an authentic experience then go elsewhere. We arrived at the restaurant with a party of 4. The entire experience started off good. We were served by the part-owner of the restaurant and we had an informative introduction to all the sauces and proteins. The good stopped there. We were not checked on even once, till someone came by at the end to ask if we wanted dessert or the check. We mentioned that we had empty drinks, empty plates and also missing items to the part owner, then he said you should have said something (?!) We received the check and saw that an auto gratuity was included on our check. I spoke to the part owner that I do not agree with the auto gratuity because we received no service through our meal and the blame was pushed on us when we mentioned that. The part owner was defensive and talking back. He then had someone else process our payments for us. No apologies nor did he offer any accommodations.

Weve eaten here many times in the past, but not recently until Mothers day. We had a reservation and restaurant was about 2/3 full with no wait. Approximately 10 staff on hand, mostly teenagers. None of the staff were there from our last visit approx. 1 year ago. First thing we noticed is the menu change. No longer small/medium/large portions of protein, just one (typically 4 ounce) per each protein, and at the top of the menu an option to go for a huge portion (1 or 1.5 pounds). Much preferred the older small/medium/large method. Also, there are so many separate prices broken out for every little thing, its complicated and hard to get an idea for how much your bill is going to be. Feels like nickel and dime compared to the old menu. The staff were doing their designated work and all seemed busy, but their busy work didnt translate into prompt servings of our food. Further, the salmon and chicken were all gone and we wondered why our veggie plates had a single slice of a carrot and mushroom; we heard that those were also gone and had to be rationed. Our proteins took 45 minutes to arrive; while we were waiting the staff re-filled out pots with water twice as it had mostly boiled off and an older staff member asked us hour our meal was as if we had already finished the proteins. When we informed her the proteins hadnt arrived yet, she apologized and it became clear from that point that she was shouldering the brunt of decision making and fixing the forgotten things that the other staff were not capable or trained to do. We really felt bad for her. Our sake was not refilled after asking 2 times over 30 minutes. Finally she brought us another and comped it. The egg we ordered for one of our bowls never came. Overall, the taste was very good and comparable to what we have been accustomed to, but the menu and service have gone downhill.

I didnt know what to expect when I went here. You pick a base, meat and noodle and they make a broth for you with the base. The noodles are saved for a soup that they make from your broth later. You are served a bowl of rice and a plate of veggies. You take your meat and cook it in the broth. One at a time and shabu shabu (Japanese for swish swish) until its cooked. Then you dip it in one of your 3 sauces you have to choose from. Theres more but its fun to experience while youre there. DO MAKE A RESERVATION!!! Theyll let you know if havent. No cook meant no appetizers. Tonkatsu flavoring was bland. So much cabbage and little variety on other veggies. They changed the broth, and dilute the hell out of it before adding it your pot which dilutes it even more. I asked what happened to the broth and was informed that there were many complaints about the sodium in the broth so they changed it. Now there is absolutely no flavor to the broth. Used to be Asian food but now it s white washed af. Won t come back until the bring back the old broth. This makes me so sad because now I have to find another hot pot place to eat at.
