Alamo is a good place to watch a movie but I do have some negative comments about Alamo Richardson. First, the seats are not too comfy. The foot rest doesnt extend all the way and its a bit uncomfortable. Also, its a bit to hard to get out of the seats. They are narrow. Way to close together. Second is the added 18% charge they add when you order food or drinks. Third, is that they never have specials on the menu. Its a bit of a expensive menu. Be prepared.

I love coming to the Alamo Drafthouse but at the same time I try to be a bit careful about spending my money, so I usually don t order. I went back for the first time after their closing to see the new Alien and was thinking about ordering something. I was very grateful I didn t in the end since I found out there was an 18% service fee and that you were expected to tip as well. (UPDATE: Now they say that tipping is optional but you will still be charged the 18% fee) They didn t even say anything until after the people had already ordered. I don t understand this, just pay the servers well in the first place. I usually tip $5 for orders $15 or less. But now I ll make sure to purchase food elsewhere. I also have a season pass and went to purchase tickets for a showing of Twister and realized that has new fees as well. It used to be about $2 for the fee of scheduling online but now it is double. I know that does not sound like much but if I were to see 5 movies in a month that would be the same price as my season pass instead of 10 movies in a month. Overall I m disappointed and hope things change.

It was a great theater but when it closed I had bought tickets to see a movie and obviously I couldnt watch it. I was expecting a refund but instead victory support kept telling me to expect an email with instructions. A month went by. I emailed support again and they said to take it up to management when the alamo opens. When it did open up again (in a Month) they told me the same thing. To expect an email. Its been another month and a half now and I havent received anything. I check spam, junk, everywhere. Nothing. Such a disappointment. I was a dedicated viewer and now they lost me. Im sure they dont care. Thats fine, Im just venting. Please be careful buying tickets with Alamo.

Lets face it, movie theaters often offer similar experiences, with some standing out for their unique features. My family has been loyal to Alamo Drafthouse for years, drawn in by their quirky previews and in-seat service. While we were thrilled when our local Alamo recently reopened our latest visit left us frustrated enough that it might be our last. I believe in tipping for good service, but I find it unsettling to be required to pay a gratuity. While an 18% tip is fair when the service meets expectations, unfortunately, that wasnt our experience. Our server only appeared once at the beginning of the movie to verify our tickets, and despite raising a card, we had to flag down a food runner to inquire about our servers whereabouts. I was told he would get her immediately, but eventually; I gave up and walked to the bar myself due to our servers disappearing act. In my opinion, this mandatory 18% gratuity only guarantees subpar service.

Was excited to go back to the theaters for the first time in forever particularly for the beetle juice 2 launch tonight. The location was supposed to have the special menu and the sand worm buckets as of 9/2 according to their site and when we tried to order we were told they did not have them yet. Very disappointing since that was half of the reason we even came, but we ordered other items. The other items took forever to be fulfilled, even just waters and on top of that we had the rudest patron next to us making the overall experience not worth coming out. Unfortunately it doesn t look like we will be coming back.

I enjoyed coming to Alamo Draft House before its short shut down stint during the summer. Went right after it reopened and during the previews it was stated that there was a mandatory 18% service charge then stated to tip on top of that. If Im forced to pay a gratuity or service fee I don t tip. I usually tip at 25% but if its crappy i do tip lower at 15%. And being force it does not allow the opportunity to do that. I will no longer be coming to Alamo Draft House with that policy in place. Also it was not posted in the menus or anywhere else in the theater.

They will not be paying their employees for the last two weeks. The employees must now file a claim with the bankruptcy court in order to get any compensation. I am very disappointed in this company.

Have been a patron of Alamo Drafthouse Richardson for several years, was our go to movie destination. Service and movie experience are stellar. However, over the last month saw two movies and I am not a fan of the renovation. The personal tables seem to have less room than the shared table/bar. Appetizer and main course came out the same time and there wasnt enough room on the table. With the remodel the waiter now traverses a path in front of the seats, which is a bit of a constant distraction. The reclining seats are not useful for us (Im 61 and my son is 65) so reclining presents an obstacle to the waiter, so we dont recline. While we will still likely visit for the retro movies, for first run movies AMC is our likely destination.

We used to love Alamo Drafthouse because of their no talking during the movie policy. They have remodeled the seats (which were great), they now have reserved couches (they do not recline, but are comfy seating for 2), and reclining single seats. We arrived early, ordered our drinks/food. Once our food was delivered, the servers did not come back by. I wanted another glass of wine, wrote it on the order form, placed the order form in the holder where it stayed for over an hour. I finally took it down because the movie was close to ending. The people next to us chatted the entire movie, according to Alamos policy, you are to write your complaint on an order form and a manager will give the offenders a warning, however, since no one came by after our food was delivered, trying to complain was a moot point. They definitely need a better system.

Will always go to Alamo. Good food, great service. This location just got new seating! So, Id like to review that specifically today. The new seats do recline (to a degree, remember, staff still needs to be able to move to bring food / drink), and are very comfortable. The counter / bar top you may be used to at Alamo has been replaced with individual trays attached to your seat. The new trays are a bit stiff, but Im sure theyll break in over time. I will say though, if needing to quickly (and lowly) get out of your seat mid movie, the trays make that pretty difficult, as its a very narrow opening. Not much that Alamo can do about that, but hopefully theyll take this next bit into account, as it absolutely can be fixed - the under tray lighting so you can see your menu. Its far brighter than the old lighting, and honestly is quite distracting during the movie. When your lap is more visible than the screen... Not good. Perhaps tint them, or dim them using power, whatever works. Overall, I had a great time as always, the food was amazing, as were the drinks. Will be returning happily for Ghostbusters.

The new chairs are painful. The cushioning is stiff and puts pressure in all the wrong areas. The rotating table has an attached light that is way too bright and cant be turned off. If you try to recline you will now be in the way for the runners who NOW BLOCK YOUR VISION DELIVERING FOOD. Like who thought this was a good idea. You have less room so you have more runners to pick up old dishes blocking more of the movie. The chairs will recline into the upper aisle and get bonked by the runners up there. Over all this is very disappointing, I dont know if I will have the drafthouse as my theatre of choice.

With the food prices going up, and the menu shrinking, its best to eat before you come here and maybe just get a drink or two. The waitstaff are struggling with the new table system too; order pens missing, not seeing the order card if your table is rotated inward, no space on the table if you order more than one item. With the new seating everyones now walking in front of your line of sight, too. They spent a lot of money to create a worse experience.

He was patient, understanding, and since the kids were young he knew that they had to be next to me. The kids had a memorable time thanks to him. Hes a great guy and is a manager that everyone should strive to be. Thanks again Patrick! Also, a huge shot out to Mason at the ticket counter for the movie party that night. Even though the event was sold out (at that time) Mason was kind enough to put us in mind in case there were any cancelations. He was patient and understanding about our situation and the kids had a good time. Thanks mason!

Easy check in process. Very nice and polite staff. Theater and bathrooms are clean. It needs a PIP ( property improvement program) investment to update the facility. However, the current charm leans towards a very pleasant local or family atmosphere. Enjoy the treatment of peace and wonderful hospitality. Happy to return!

Staff was great. Theater was clean. Food was good. Bathrooms needed a once over, but also a busy Friday night. All in all, good time!

First time at an Alamo Drafthouse. We went mid-morning on Christmas Eve, so other times will likely vary in experience. The online ticketing process was easy, and parking was readily available. We had a great time - it was a small theater with comfortable seating. We arrived early, as suggested, and really enjoyed the curated pre-show short films and food/drink service. Will definitely be back for more shows.

I love Alamo, its the only theater Ive found that serves food thats actually edible. The green chile queso is great and the beer selection is great too, Id come here and go to the bar even if I wasnt seeing a movie. The only negative is the service for beer refills isnt the greatest, Ive actually just left the theater and gone to get my own beer at the bar several times. Not a deal breaker, but can be slightly annoying.

I love the intimate atmosphere, and wait staff at this location. I m old school. I like a coke and popcorn, but Alamo Drafthouse has milkshakes I can not refuse. Creamy, thick, and flavorful. Don t pass on one of these bad boys. Nom nom nom!

Always best to arrive a little early so you can read the menu in full lighting and get your order placed early enough that the food is delivered early enough... Love the commercials and the pre-movie show

Ive been coming here for about 10 years now and Ive had nothing but good experiences here. The food is always good and I really appreciate the fun and quirky film facts and related content they show before whatever movie you watch. Big fan of the no talking policy, and Im glad that this theatre prioritises the experience of the moviegoer. Popcorn is delicious, place is great.

This theater is okay, it s just annoying to find out that they don t have usb charging ports inside the recliners ugh. They only have wall plug-ins on the sides of the theater. Definitely need to upgrade the charging ports smh.

Very disappointed on Xmas Day. They switch the showing to another screen and when we got there to see The Color Purple our seats were taken and they didn t have anywhere for us to seat. Poor customer service they didn t know what to do to accommodate us. Got a refund will not be going back to this theater.

The theater was fine. The food service was slow and popcorn portion was small. The corn had free refills but nobody ever came back except to give us the bill. We were the only 2 in that theater

We were served spoiled lemonade and returned it, we then were harassed and watched by a member of staff ,we were told no talking and exchanged less than a whispered sentence prior to or after that warning ..overall a very uncomfortable experience .Also had to remind the waiter that we did not drink & returned the beverage on the ticket, they corrected the ticket in the end. I would like to note this was a 3pm showing with maybe 5-8 people viewing. Wouldn t recommend

Favorite place to see a movie. Whoever runs this company clearly has a passion for movies. I appreciate that in the time before a movie starts they show a curated playlist of content related to the movie, and some of that stuff are pretty deep cuts. Food is good, drinks are fun, and the servers always do a nice job of being out of the way yet helpful during the movie.

Very clean, good seating, no kids or obnoxious guests. Food there has gone from expensive to insane. Pass on the $17 burger and $7.50 sodas and just eat before. $15 tickets + a meal for two will run you into the $90 range before you can blink.

Compared to the modern movie theaters this pales in comparison. If youre used to more sophisticated theaters this place isnt for you. Its a little run down and too old school for my liking. Seating could be more comfortable.

I always forget to leave a review for this place but we love it here! Staff is always so kind and welcoming. Prices are fair, food is a bit more hip but still have the great classics! (Like bottomless popcorn!) the servers we ve had are always great and never disturb during the movie. They re quiet and efficient! I took my kiddo to see the Mario movie a couple months ago and recently the new Paw Patrol and we did the kids viewings both times and it was FANTASTIC. It warns others there s kids here at this showing. And at both showings we were one of 2-3 other families. So not packed at all on mornings. Super love this place and can t recommend it enough! Ooo and the Brut rose surprisingly goes well with the popcorn!
