Been eating there since the 90s when there was only one location, but since they sold to another company (that I believe also owns El Fenix). Quality has gone way down. Biggest part was going from hand grated Jack cheese that melts wonderfully to a thin graded processed cheese that doesnt. I emailed them after I had three bad visits. No response for two months. Ill never go again. Nothing is hot anymore. Been to multiple locations

I walked in with a friend, and immediately we were greeted by the wonderful employees. One of the guys Mason, very nice gentlemen helped us out to decide the kind of tortilla we wanted. Very good friendly energy, very helpful in helping us understand what foods will get certain types of flavors.

It just happened to be Burrito Day when we decided to order from Freebirds & also redeem my birthday offer before it expired. It was@9pm when we arrived and the restaurant was packed with a very long in-store line and a long to-go order line. We literally waited in line for an hour before we could order & we were the last customers to be served that night. During that hour, I had the opportunity to make many observations & I have to say that Freebirds crew is/was Amazing! They worked diligently & efficiently hustling trying to make sure that the food options stayed replenished & making sure that every customer was served & their order was correct- despite the Burrito Day chaos & crowd and considerable wait. The lady handling the To Go orders even made sure to give constant updates to the customers waiting in that line. I appreciated how the employees communicated with each other (team work) & especially how they changed their gloves after handling other items to prevent cross contamination. That is SO rare at fast food restaurants these days! That alone is the main reason I will continue to order from Freebirds & I will definitely return to this location. The employees were cool, calm & collected the entire time despite it being a super busy night & eventually after closing. A few of the guys on the preparation line & the cashier still smiled & made quick small talk with customers all under the stress of serving so many customers. I was thoroughly impressed & don t know that I could have maintained that same cool, calm, collected demeanor (with a genuine smile) in the midst of the organized chaos and with at least 50 customers waiting-many with unpleasant faces, understandably. All in all, I think the employees handled that night like Champs & I wanted to make sure to give them their Kudos for a Job Well Done!! Thank you all!

Hands down the worst food I ve had. Guacamole is blended green paste and assumably powdered seasoning, cilantro lime rice was terrible and cakey. The chicken was diced so small it was difficult to verify it was chicken and what it really tasted like. The fresh raw onions were translucent, so they ve been sitting for a long time. I could go on, but the fact is that the quality was horrible and I am now nauseous and my stomach is cramping from their food. I can not recommend. Update: There is one things Freebirds is good at. Copy & Paste They would be better off not responding at all.

Im going to rate Freebirds a two star because of the rules between the monster and regular bowl. I ordered the monster bowl thinking eating some now and saving some for tomorrow. As I go down the line to get what I want on mines and get to the register and was like this isnt filling the bowl. So I address it and was given the option to get beans or more lettuce or corn. I dont like the beans so no didnt want beans. I got what I wanted on it and to ME I felt the bowl should have been filled with what I wanted. You are paying for the size of the bowl in my eyes. Thats when I was informed for monster bowl you get 3 scoops of rice and meat vs 2 scoops in the regular bowl. I didnt know that and told them to dump mines in a regular bowl he didnt want to mess the bowl up and I told him it doesnt matter Im going to mix it up anyway then he said well you have 2 scoops of meat and rice. I started to say take a scoop out or even that I dont want the bowl at all and go back in the line and re-order a regular or go elsewhere. He compromised took $2 off and a complimentary drink. But I know next time. I am writing this review for those who dont know the difference between the two so with monster you need to fill your bowl up with everything they have pretty much in order for the bowl to be a monster NOT with only the things that you like because if you do, you will end up with a regular size bowl in a monster and paying for the monster. Freebirds really need to change this because apparently they have to explain this all the time to customers according to the manager. Again, there was nothing wrong with the service or food, but HOW they determine a monster vs regular. Youre not getting what you pay for only if you get a lot of options (which you could be allergic to or simply just dont like).

Yeah so, I had ordered my freebird tortilla and the server accidentally put beans on the burrito and she scraped it off and put it into a bowl (keep in mind I have a stomach condition that I have to keep a specific diet around and sensitive to ingredients like beans). I m contemplating whether I should let it go but I decided to just order a new freebird instead and as I m walking around to get in line again I see her gossiping about my order to her coworker who then gives me a snarky look. Be professional about your mistakes and apologize like the cashier did on y all s behalf, without having to open your mouth about it while the customer is still there seriously

This is by far the worst freebirds location I ve been to. They got 1 star for their drinks because that s hard to mess up. They ran out of the soda syrups, and tea they weren t even busy! It was literally lunch time. Also they literally just sprinkled the chicken on my burrito. All and I mean all their tables were dirty! My sister had to wipe our table clean. So did the people next to us. Their lids weren t stocked AND their ice was empty! I ve never had a negative experience at any other location. They had 5 people on today and I can t believe this place is so disgusting and dirty! There s a pandemic going on!!!! I took pictures to prove it. Unacceptable! Never will come here again. Surprisingly fewer options than the last time I visited a Free Birds (which I usually prefer over Chipotle). Solid chain with great tex-mex burritos and bowls. The employees are always helpful and happy to assist anytime I have an issue with an online order. My only complaint is that while ordering online is easy, for some reason you cannot order fountain drinks online to grab in store. Compared with Chipotle, they have less staffing issues and even better selection for the same price. Spicy cayenne tortillas are amazing and bring the burritos to a new level.

Its hard to write this review. Freebirds was my favorite burrito restaurant and one of my top 5 favorite restaurants of all time for years. Their queso and chips were second to none. Their Burritos were flavorful and unique. And the experience of being inside of one was just...greatness. And here, at the Richardson location, was by far my favorite of the bunch. It got me through COVID, I was ordering from them a couple times a week when everything shut down! And then, in January of 2021, they completely changed their ingredients and so many of their recipes. Their queso is watery and flavorless. Their chips are burnt tasting, often stale, and disgusting. Their burritos are not good and most of their sauces and other items have lost so much of that flavor that made them great. Ive spent the last few years trying them again and again every couple of months and it just getting worse. This isnt a Richardson specific problem, this is a Freebirds problem. All of their restaurants have the same bland / not good food. And its a shame, because they were far and away the best of the best and now theyre mediocre and behind just about every other burrito place out there. Even the atmosphere has changed. Its corporate (not that corporate is a bad thing, but at Freebirds there was always this feeling that the employees had ownership, were well compensated, and enjoyed their work, that feeling disappeared over COVID and hasnt come back). So this is my goodbye to Freebirds. May you find what once made you so good and go back to it before its too late.

Be careful placing an order at this location for pick up or delivery. This location has failed multiple times in assuring my order is completed correctly. The number of times I do pick up, check my order then and there and then have to get in line because I m missing a side is ridiculous. Delivery is worse. Call after placing your order to make sure this restaurant includes any side items you purchase because they will NOT bother to pay attention otherwise. Is it annoying having to call? YES! Unfortunately this Freebirds is so careless that customers aren t left with much of a choice. And to the representative who replies to these reviews, keep your empty apologies and focus on improving order fulfillment practices instead.

Manager is amazing!!!! I kindly asked the gentleman at the front if he knew how much longer it would be on my online order and his response was I have no idea. I have people working on online orders and I have customers to take care of. Your order will be ready in the area where there s a huge sign that says pick up .....I was a little taken back by the response. They were not super busy and I wasn t being impatient or in arush. So I went and sat by the pick up area As I was waiting, within 30 seconds the manager came up to me and asked what the name was on the order was and checked on it and gave me an update in less than 5 seconds. I genuinely appreciated his approach rather than the first approach I had. I ve been to this freebirds many times and worked at freebirds myself. I always enjoy eating at Freebirds! They had a couple of things that make them different from Chipotle the first time i went years ago: different types of tortillas and Queso. In my opinion Freebirds has much better Queso than Chipotles take on it. I love the college like authmosphere that they place has, and how they always JAM PACK you burritos or bowls. It feels like they give you a bit more bang for your buck. The staff at this location is really nice and the food was well seasoned and tasted great! I tend to go with the Chicken and pile almost everything else on top of it that I can. The mix of flavors is great, as well is their jalapeno cream salsa! The only bad thing about this Freebirds is the location, as it can be a nightmare getting in and out of the parking lot, especially at lunch time, but I will not count this against the score just more of an FYI for you. Great place and will continue to come by.

I hadnt been here in 15 years but its not the same as I remembered it. I feel like chipotle is better in taste. The size here is bigger, but not always better. I wouldnt come back here; maybe in another 15 years.

I was very excited to see the siete tortilla at Freebirds. Last night I ordered a vegan burrito and chips with jalapeno salsa. The receipt stapled to bag was correct, so I wasnt on alert. I noticed I didnt have guacamole or the salsa that I ordered on my burrito, but ate it anyway. When I opened the foil for my salsa, it was queso. I had recieved the entire wrong order and I ate a regular flour tortilla which Im allergic to. I am sick and having a terrible reaction. Im very upset. This will affect me for severely for days and take weeks to fully heal from.

Got mine in a bowl this time, since they dont have keto-friendly tortillas. Glad theyre offering the cauliflower rice at the same price now, instead of upcharging it. Spring 2022 update .. never mind - that are charging extra for the cauliflower rice again...

My wife and daughter visited this location tonight and it was possibly one of the worst experiences for them. Daughters food was literally a small portion barely enough to feed a toddler (four spoonfuls) and she s12. Her chips and queso were not in her meal as well. My wife s meal was finally made after one of the four employees decided to move and work. But once they began to make her bowl the amount of the servings was once again very sparse and lacking for an adult bowl. The worst experience ever at a freebirds. This location needs proper training and hopefully a call to cooperate will get something done.

Spanish rice was hard, either stale or undercooked. refried beans were flavorless and dragged the entire burrito down. Was told an extra scoop of chicken would only cost ~1 or a bit over, ended up being double that. Overall excessively expensive for the quality received.

Okay, so I haven t had in like years, so I was actually kind of looking forward to my food. Service was great, but I ordered a steak bowl with cauliflower rice and other stuff. Could not finish it! THE SALT!!! Seriously the saltiest think I ve ever had! I had to stop eating it. Sad I really wanted to like it.
