I was excited to discover Sonny Bryans Smokehouse during a recent visit to Richardson while taking my son to UTD. I had fond memories of their Inwood location from a few years back, so I decided to surprise my kids with a visit this weekend. While I expected BBQ to be on the pricier side, I was looking forward to a great meal. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly, which set a positive tone for our visit. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich, potato salad, and the World Famous onion rings. My son opted for the three-meat plate with ribs, sausage, and brisket, while my daughters chose kids meals. Unfortunately, disappointment quickly set in. My sandwich arrived lukewarm and had a strange texture that reminded me of soft wood chips very dry and unappetizing. There was literally NO flavor in the meat, it was actually kind of bizarre. The BBQ sauce was overpowering, which didn t help its flavor. The onion rings tasted like they were fried in very old oil. The potato salad was just okay; I prefer a more mashed texture, but this left the potatoes too chunky, and the mayo-mustard balance was off. My son only enjoyed the sausage from his plate, and my daughters were only happy with their French fries. Overall, I found the quality and taste to be so disappointing for the price. I really wanted to love this place, but it didnt meet my expectations this time. I hope this was just an off day for them, as I had such high hopes based on my previous experience.

Sonny Bryan BBQ has been around for a while. When you get to where you have multiple locations it can be difficult to have quality control. Much I have a problem with is the brisket. From all indications, there was no rub on the brisket and the outside tasted like the wood was too green. In any case, I didnt care for it. Too expensive for what you get, and the taste of the meat really turned me off.

My husband and his friend recently went to the Richardson location. We used to think Sonny Bryans was great but my husband didnt think it was anywhere near worth the cost. The brisket and ribs were dry and the brisket didnt have the usual smoke ring. My husband did say the rolls were good.

Meat was good. Sides were mostly good. We had fries, okra, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and Mac n cheese. Green bean casserole was oddly tangy. BBQ beans were just so-so. Onion rings were HUGE. Rolls were amazing. Most sides are vegetarian. Service was awesome.

Yall need to stop giving places like this, great reviews. 4.8/5 stars, for food that s worse than Dickeys, is ridiculous. The brisket was dry, the ribs had a total of half of a bite of meat per rib. The bbq sauce they add on the side, should be advertised as vinegar instead of bbq. Man, we were very disappointed with this place. Thanks for the waste of money.

Used to be my favorite, quality of brisket has gone way down. I dont like the way the cashier looked at me after I clicked no tip. I paid 20$ for 1 plate but Im supposed to tip you for taking my order? Asking for a tip before even getting the food is so awkward like are you going to do something to it because I didnt tip you? If you are visiting Dallas,TX this is the best place to eat, was my best experience that I visited during my visit, the mac and cheese and smashed potatoes, the smoke taste was really impressive, and the meals turkey, and the sliced brisket was incredible!! So in 4 words: you have to visit!!

Tried this places delivery out with some friends and had the three meat plate and lord if those ribs dont fall off the BONE, the pulled pork and ribs were absolutely delicious. Im usually not big on brisket (sinful of a texan) but theres with that bbq sauce hit so good , also huge shout out to those mashed potatoes being some of the best restaurant mashed potatoes Ive ever had weirdly enough? It sounds ludicrous but the consistency down to the taste and gravy was fantastic haha I definitely want to try more of their options some other time

Visited this location after my last visit being before the pandemic. Brisket: Excellent! Sides: A lot left to be desired. It seems like the recipe for the baked beans have changed, as they look and taste slightly different. Lunch special: You only get one side, so if you want a lot of food, just spend the extra couple of dollars for a meat plate. Everything else was great.

Id probably give this a 3.5. Its been on my list of BBQ places to try in te DFW. The food was good, but nothing special. Service was good, dinning room could use an update, a little on the crusty side. Id give it another shot, maybe try the downtown location, solid bbq, but there are a fee places around town that definitely beat this one out. Vegetarian options: There wasnt much on the menu for my wife, she ended up doing a salad with an order of Union rings. The union rings were huge, good choice.

Stopped at the Big Straws for a boba, just moved back into Dallas proper from The Colony and was happy to find boba place close to my apt. While I was waiting I looked up the BBQ reviews for Sonny Bryan s and found them good, the prices is what encouraged me to place and order for dinner. Picked up boba while the bbq order was being prepared. The food is so good, and the portions are generous. We have eaten here 2 more times since I found it a week ago! So glad it s close to me!

This place looks like you could miss it from the outside but once inside the food is fantastic! The prime rib juicy and smoky; the ribs meaty and huge. I ordered a complete full blown buffet of four meats for 22 , jncluding cobbler, for my Dads 100th birthday. They didnt miss a beat. Everything was included, from cutlery to serving utensils! This was our first visit, and we picked it because we received a coupon in the mail. We both had combo plates. I liked the jalapeño sausage, loved the pulled pork. The beans were very good. I suggest people skip the mac and cheese. The brisket was just okay, nothing to write home about, but the sauce sure helped it out. Her ribs were okay, she liked the fries. She didnt care for the chicken or brisket at all. She actually made a face when she tasted the chicken. She said it didnt taste fresh. She said this is a three star place. Portions were too small. Almost stingy. Sad, in a way. The value just wasnt there. Even with the coupon. We left hungry. After Lockhart, its difficult to find barbecue that gets us excited these days.

Sonny Bryan s Smokehouse happened to be on the way to someplace at mealtime, so my family decided to stop there. We knew it s a small business, so we figured it ll be good to support a local business. We walk in and discover that the place is clean, the prices are fair (picture of menu attached), and it smells great. We order our food, including an appetizer of two orders of onion rings. The onion rings arrived fast, hot, and you can tell that they make them themselves, at the restaurant. The barbecue and ranch sauces are homemade and delicious. Not long after the appetizer, a friendly staff member brought us our entrees (7 of them). Piping hot, made fresh, accurate, and delicious. I got the combo plate with brisket, pulled pork, jalapeño cheddar sausage, macaroni and cheese, and fried okra. All were obviously made at the place, fresh. Now for the restaurant itself. The place was clean, the tables were clean, the drink and condiment area was clean and organized, and the bathrooms were clean and stocked. Overall, this place gave us an outstanding experience and we will be back for more!

This rustic bbq place is famous for its brisket sandwich. If you are craving for a good brisket sandwich you can try this store. The staff are friendly and helpful. Accessible entrance with accessible seating and accessible restroom only made the restaurant more desired to many people.

Food was not good to me bland for the most part I don t like vinegar tasting bbq sauce I m more of a sweet bbq person the pulled pork was ok, the bbq beans were nasty my son got the ribs and they were tough.... we just went because I wanted bbq and wanted to try something new won t be back not a fan

I was disappointed on this visit. I ordered 3 pounds of sliced brisket with sides. They gave me 2 pounds of ends. Usually the family loves the tender sliced brisket from here but not this time. We were disappointed.
