Long walk between batteries. There are outdoor shelters, and a play area for kids. No museum.Signage is poor. Restrooms were disgusting. Outdoor metal port-a-potties (sort of, there was water). I wouldnt make a special trip to see.

We were driving to Galveston and noticed the Fort Travis Historic marker. A nice obelisk, three flag poles, seating and other historic plaques were clearly apparent. After some looking we also noticed a drive and another sign stating Fort Travis Park. The park is actually multiple things. There are great views, two large underground batteries and multiple information signs. Unfortunately the batteries are not accessible. Playground: No playground equipment but lots of grass Toilets: No restrooms Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leash permitted Picnic area: Covered picnic tables available

Very disappointed. Been to historical sites simular to this one. Most have an information center you can go into and see the guns, ammo, cannons and other items that were used. I dont want to scan and read about, like to see, go inside and feel the experience. This was more or less of a travel stop with picnic tables and playground.

The Playground is a hidden gem! This playground is absolutely fantastic, with a unique nautical theme that will delight kids of all ages. The play structures are sturdy, clean, and imaginative, with plenty of opportunities for climbing, sliding, and exploring. The rubberized surfacing is a great touch, providing a soft and safe landing for little ones. But what really sets this playground apart is its stunning location right on the beach! The views of the Gulf are breathtaking, and the sea breeze adds a refreshing touch to your visit. You can even take a break from playtime and enjoy a picnic or a walk along the shore. The playground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample parking. The nearby Fort Travis Seashore Park is also worth exploring, with its historic fort and scenic walking trails. Overall, is a must-visit destination for families, beach lovers, and anyone looking for a fun and relaxing day out. 5 stars and highly recommended! Added the only 2 pictures I snapped.

Worst. Mosquitos. Infestation. Ever. April 2, 2024 about 3 hours after a rainstorm. Crazy disgusted about how many mosquitoes bit me I. Less than two minutes. Left ASAP. Otherwise, it looked cool. I should have take a hint when I saw two adult men running to their car as fast as possible. Mosquito and bug spray recommended.

Went here with high expectations, but the fort parts were fenced off and not accessible by the public. Theres a small play area for kids and then theres the dangerous ledge beside the road that abruptly falls into rocks. Watch your young kids carefully, you dont want anyone accidentally falling over this ledge. 1 star for the beautiful views, 1 star for the cleanliness in the shaded sitting area.
