I visited the museum with my 13 year old son on Monday, September 23rd. We had seen the museum advertised on our travels on I-10. I am so glad weade the trip. The museum was full of great displays. The interpretive signage was great. There was a nice variety of exhibits that covered history and people of the region. My son enjoyed the visit and was very engaged.

The Museum of the Gulf Coast is a great place for anyone interested in the history and culture of the region. The exhibits are excellently organized and rich in information. One of the standout features of the museum is the replica of the Porse once driven by Janis Joplin, who was born in Port Arthur. The staff is very friendly and helpfull and the atmosphere is good.

What an amazing informative museum this is. We decided to visit because of Janis Joplin but to our surprise it turned out to be so much more than just the Music Hall of Fame. It has cultural, historical, natural history and art exhibits with amazing information and artifacts. We enjoyed the huge indoor mural and the experimental race car.

What a great museum, it may be little but it has a big heart and soul with its collections. Definitely stop in, for $8 per adult there s no excuse to miss it, especially if you consider yourself someone who knows your Texas rock and roll stars. I went there for Janis of course but left wishing I had way more time to peruse the other exhibits. Appreciate the docent who took the time to ensure that I was able to commune with my namesake for a moment. If you are a Janis fan like me, ask them about the bricks for sale, then head over to 4048 Proctor street with your new favorite souvenir.

Was in Port Arthur yesterday, and had some time to kill. Decided to visit Museum Of The Gulf Coast , after years of only hearing about it. It s more than just Janis & The Big Bopper. Recognized familiar names, and learned new ones! It really covers everything about the area, going back even thousands of years. You bet we took advantage of our senior discounts , and you should too. Everybody was super friendly, + they don t bug you but rather let you explore on your own. Will definitely go back with my film camera, and more time, to fully document the entire experience. (It s so good, my wife even wants to go again)!

The layout of the building is nothing short of. Fabulous!! Art. History. Pre historic. Etc. A little about. A lot I was telling my friends that there wasn t any Jack Johnson articles. ( he is the heavy weight champion back in the 30 s ftom. Galveston. Island Was born on 8 th and Broadway. Apparently the curator over heard me and took us to a sit down film featuring. Jack. Johnson. She said they were still compiling the sports area of the museum. They did not have any of Jack Johnson s private articles but were hopeful. I told her he was imprisoned for taking his white wife over state lines . She was not aware of that. This lady was amazing Her knowledge vast !!!! . Thank you.
