Hubby and I went to the SMG in Plano last night and the experience was not good. The staff was very courteous but other than that the temp in the theater was hot. The food was not good. And my chair was dirty, full of popcorn remnants.

SMG has always been my favorite theater, but on my last visit the food did not taste as fresh as usual. This particular SMG does not have reclining chairs but they still are very comfortable. My favorite is the one on Spring Valley, but I like coming to this one because its close to home and it doesnt get too crowded. Overall nice experience

Would not recommend. During my visit, there were so many issues that I was not able to enjoy the movie. They did not have any popcorn at the time, one of the ambient lights was so bright that I was not able to concentrate on the movie, and the screen had a noticable blemish. Their prices are also outrageous. The wait staff was friendly and tried to help but there was nothing done. The chairs are also the older style movies seats not the more usual type.

I saw saw wolverine and Deadpool, and the movie was fantastic. However, you could hear through the walls all of the loud booming from the theater next door, which was very jarring during quieter moments. Also, I understand that they sell food, but unlike the Alamo Drafthouse, the servers dont get out of the way of the screen which took me out of the movie at least five times. Its an interesting establishment, but I would rather go an AMC or an Alamo Drafthouse over the experience I had. There was also a bit of talking and murmurs throughout the beginning of the movie, which cannot be controlled by the movie theater per say, But it was still agitating to my overall experience. If youre not as distractible as a person like me, who enjoys going to see movies rarely due to the amount of people, then this place should be a fun date place.

if i could give a ZERO star i would. staff were incredible rude and lied about cost of items and added an 18% surcharge to my bill. this drink server handed me and my company someone elses drink order and when we politely said these were not our drinks she said i dont care and left them at our tables. then when placing our order we asked the server if the drinks were free refills or if we had to purchase another and he said that there were free refills, which they were not. I paid 81 dollars for what should have been 2 drinks and the SHARE 2 FOR $30 special. charged an extra 11 for a surcharge and paid for 4 drinks which in of its self is 24 dollars. absolutely absurd

Watched Inside Out 2, movie was great, the food was good, the service was decent, but .This is the most uncomfortable movie theater I have ever sat in. I m reading the reviews and they are the same for the last 2 years . Do you guys think you should fix the seats by now? Your plates don t sit level, it s almost impossible for a kid to sit with a booster (carnival rides at the county fair are more comfortable) Sell the place to someone who cares, we won t be back.

Me and my husband went to watch a movie, and everything we ordered came out wrong. From the appetizers to the entrées, nothing seemed to be corrected. We felt terrible because we had to keep calling them back to fix our order and obviously the movie is playing so we couldn t enjoy it. We mentioned many times that at the end of our stay, we wanted to Apple Pay and not use the card on file. We ended up leaving halfway through the movie because our experience was so bad, and they charged my card. My husband asked to speak to a manager and nothing was done about the situation to rectify it. We got a quick I m sorry and got sent on our way with zero compensation. Make the drive to Alamo Drafthouse, because I promise you, it is going to be a way better experience. Studio Movie Grill has gone downhill and management and stuff are not friendly at all. We will not be returning.

My daughter opened the SMG in The Colony so I am very aware of how good it can be. Last night, however was not that way! Staff was nice, but theater is not so much and the food was nowhere near what it used to be. Food came to us cool not hot, chicken was over cooked, pretzel bites were not hot, but at least slightly warm but tiny and not worth the price at all. Flathead pizza was ok. My sons burger was not warm either.... just very disappointing!

The service was SPECTACULAR, easy quick & efficient. Only thing is you will have people covering the screen at times because of it but they re fairly quick. We came on a Saturday for the brunch menu it s until 2pm we had $5 mimosas which were GREAT. We also ordered pizza which was very good. Only reason I m giving a 4 star is because the water was HORRIBLE DO NOT DRINK THE WATER. I got a stomach virus because of it. Picture sound & seats were perfect. I recommend the recliner ones!

I always have a great experience at SMG. However, I purchased tickets online for the 11pm showing of The Quiet Place. I arrived at 11:10pm only to discover that they were closed! I called the next business day for a refund or exchange only for the Manager to say, call guests services, there is nothing I can do . I do not understand the purpose of having late showings if you are closing within 15 minutes after the movie start time, and to also not have any accommodations or escalations in place for this issue. Especially when they are aware that tickets were purchased online in advance. Please do better SMG!!!

Food and service were good. Well the flatbread pizzas were good, I cant speak for anything else. Had to get our seats changed because about half of them have the recliner functionality removed. There was a large stain on the screen that detracted from the movie. For the premium theater prices there are many other area options that will also have a premium theater experience.

Their theater 10 was outrageously hot. Like sweat-pouring-down-my-back hot. We had already purchased our tickets and the movie was about to start so when we asked our server, we were told it was a situation they could not resolve. ???? and they made no offer to move us or return our money. They did apologize at least two times, but that was it. They offered nothing for us. Not a stellar way to handle it from a customer service standpoint. It is May and was about 82 degrees out. It may have been hotter in the theater. My friend s smart watch said 85. We were already out $23 for our tickets. First time at this theater. Not a good first impression - women s bathroom was dirty, toilet s would not flush, some faucets didn t work and the hand towels were hard to get to. Disappointing really. Screen, sound system and food were good. But not good enough for me to return. Dinner for two was about $59 without tip. Thank goodness we didn t order cocktails from the bar. Yikes. Flatbread was tasty and the funnel cake dessert was great. So there are your two stars.

Very disappointed with my experience at Studio Movie Grill in Theater Room 1. As soon as the movie started, the lights flickered on and off for the first five minutes. Technical mishap aside, the sound quality was subpar. Barely any base and volume turned up to unsafe hearing levels. Then there was the significant sound bleed coming from the next theater room over, which ruined all the quiet scenes in the movie I was watching. Worst of all, for the first time in over 35 years, the popcorn was salty. How does a movie theater mess up popcorn... Please do yourself a favor and choose a different theater.

We are visiting from Houston and booked the 11:00pm time to see Imaginary (Confirmation #WS3RS6F for TWO adults and ONE child). We arrived 15min or so after the movie started but figured all we missed were previews and wanted to see the movie still. When we walked up to the doors, they were locked. We tried every door but it wouldn t open. I begin to record immediately. For the next 10-15 min, there were employees (we know because they had their badges on and were wearing the uniform) sitting down eating at the first table closest to the doors, watching my family and I at the door trying to get in. We waved at them, in 50 degree cold weather outside, me showing my receipt and my wife using her flashlight to try and get their attention. They just looked at us. Finally, one employee came to the door (ironically it was the black guy who looked like us since no other race present decided to acknowledge us) and asked how can we help you. I showed him our tickets and explained to him that we wanted to watch the movie but no one would let us in. They just looked at us. They literally just stared at us. He brought out the manager. This is where it gets worse. The first thing the manager says is I locked the door at 11:15pm, I didn t see you and missed the movie. You missed the movie . I look at my Apple watch, it s 11:35. Mind you we been outside for idk how long with employees who didn t move with any sense of urgency to try and help us AND I payed $38 for 3 tickets AND we re from Houston VISITING. No refund, no movie. we weren t even given the option. And the employees who didn t let us in didn t even have the GALLS to apologize, you can see one of them just snickering. I asked for a corporate number. I m going to the Better Business Bureau BBB because not only was my experience bad but it was halted because we re late to the movie?! It should be the customers choice and no refund, no movie?! Oh ok. I ll never in my life support this type of trash again. Mind you I ve been an access member since 2021 and never experienced this type of treatment in Houston a day in my life. Never again.

Here is my take on this theater. First off the seats. The seats look like they came from the 1970s. The recline in them is made by you, the visitor. And because of this, there is no footrest to get you relaxed and ready for the movie. The tray that is supposed to hold your food in front of you sags because of wear and tear from frequent use. One day, it will be useless and fall into someones lap. Then the food. Overall fair. Nothing out of the ordinary from an average restaurant. (Wish they would actually serve steak, though), you can order alcohol which again is just like anywhere else as far as taste. Then the speakers. It honestly felt like the speakers coming from the front if the theater were the only ones working. I never felt fully immersed audio wise intonthe movie. (Felt like I was sitting in front of my TV at home with the volume turned up) Then the hallways. It was just so dark! I could get lost just walking to the bathroom because it was so dark! illuminate your hallways more! I could see the little digital posters (which btw, tell whoever is putting the image up for us to see what movie or advertisement is on the screen to move the mouse so the pointer is not sitting on the image ) SMGs selling point is that you can watch the latest movies while enjoying food and alcohol. But they seem to neglect the rest of the movie going experience. So! Update the furniture, expand the menu, put some more lights in the hallway, and test those speakers to make sure they are working. I give it 3 stars because the potential is there, but it needs to be finished up. It felt like this theater was just going through the motions of being a theater. Make going to the movies an experience that people look forward to and plan ahead for and not a I guess we can see a movie tonight.

Im very disappointed in this theatre. My husband and I came to see Iron Claw for Valentines day and the volume inside the theatre was extremely low. The TV at my house has higher volume, if Id known it would be like that we would have just stayed home. I could hear people whispering and chewing their food. When the movie first started I told our waiter and he told me that he would ask them to raise the volume. That never happened and if they did it was not noticeable. When I noticed no change I got up and went to speak with the cashier at the front, she told me that our waiter did mention it on the headphones and that she would work on it. Nothing changed. I finished watching the movie and there was no change. Idk but when I come to the theatre I want to hear the music and the story not the people chewing their food around me. Plus the womens bathrooms are disgusting and the soap dispensers dont work. Save your money or go to a different theatre.

I went to watch the Color Purple on Christmas Day. The movie was really good but the dining service was not good. It took the servers a while to take my order and the people that were sitting next to me never received their food. The women s bathroom was also very dirty. I was expecting better service & a cleaner environment. This was my first time to Studio Movie Grill & probably my last. Make sure to bring your own sanitizing wipes so you can clean your table off before your food is delivered. For the prices that they charge for the movie ticket, food, & an automatic gratuity, we deserved better.

We have been coming to SMG for 20 years. We moved somewhere that didnt have them the last 4 years but just went back for the first and last time. I am all for tipping. I usually tip 20-30% but since when is there a mandatory 18% tip for a family of 4? If there is a mandatory tip I NEVER leave anything in the additional tip line. If you cant afford to pay your servers dont be sneaky about it, just raise the menu prices. Its unfortunate because I loved coming to SMG growing up, would have tipped more, but wont be back.

The movie was good(Oppenheimer) no thanks to SMG of course, the service was tier 3 but thats still not why Im giving only 1 star. I bought my movie ticket online and was immediatly charged, I got to the theater and ordered a meal for which I also was immediately charged before leaving the theater because of course they dont loan food or movie tickets. Two days later, I was charged again while at home in my bed, double what I spent at the theater( this is not a forgot to add a drink price, its a whole other meal) and again one day later, both are still processing so there isnt much I can do at BOA until thats done. The ticket prices here are lower than at comparable places, but there is a noticeable drop in quality: A. The chairs are soft but not super comfortable. There is no footrest like at other dine-in places, and the angle/position of the tray table is also not the most convenient. B. The menu choices are limited as well, especially if you are vegetarian. Again, comparable places Moviehouse and Eatery offer vegan burgers and better flatbread options. C. The screen/sound are ok, but not great. The internal access to the movie halls has a dark and dungeon-like feel to it. Overall, if I wanted to visit a dine-in theater, this would not be my first, or second choice in the future.

GHETTO ! TRASH ! SAVE YOUR MONEY !!! Ive been to a few movie meal places, this SMG-Plano is by far the worst. Wife and I saw Avatar 2 in 3d. The seats and mini-tables were dirty and sticky - gross. The 3d glasses were not clean, poor quality, nasty. Veggies with our orders were old, not fresh at all, not sure if even washed. We ordered the 2 for $29 deal (its $30 now) - the rude waitress rang it up full price. Much of what we ordered seemed like was sitting out for awhile, just microwaved to serve us. Drinks were light on booze, barely passable. Learn from my mistake and look elsewhere for date night.

They add an automatic 18% tip so they dont have to worry about the horrible service. I got my appetizer and food 30 min after I ordered and only because I asked what happened to my order. Apparently they forgot and brought me cold food that had been standing there for 30 min. I would give a negative rating if I could. Plano location. I did give them a 2nd chance 1 week later. About the same level of poor service.

We went here to see the barbie movie. their food was so delicious and a great crowd of people in the theater, though there were a few girls that were working as servers who were extremely rude to you if you asked them a question. almost like they couldn t believe you would actually bother them or talk to them like they were better than you or something. very slimy behavior but other than that we had a good time.

The worst movie theatre experience. From the waiters keep forgetting the order to the delay to bring ranch sauce for our appetizer after 3 times buzzing, and not to mention the hot climate of the salon. It was too hot in there that some people left in the middle of the movie. We couldn t even enjoy our food and movie. It was so uncomfortable! I will never go back!

I came to this location yesterday to watch Oppenheimer and honestly it s the worst the customer service Is lacking maybe they have to have a manager walking around theaters to make sure the server s are found at least a decent job I m giving this 2 stars just because I actually liked the burger I got but we were 5 people in this theater and it took them 20-25 min to get me two beers draft if I wouldn t have called them again I m sure it would ve taken longer on top of that no one ever picked up the plates for anyone this movie is 3 hrs long do you think we want to be sitting with dirty plate and cups stacking up and on top they still have a the audacity to charge and 18% of gratuity I don t mind tipping but at least do a decent job at providing customers service NEVER coming to this location again for sure

Decent place to see a movie if you don t care about food quality or service quality. Chairs are uncomfortable and don t recline . Tried to take my 12 year old to watch a PG-13 film, Indiana Jones, but the manager refused to let us in. It was against the law he told me. Haha. He didn t offer a refund or anything. But I asked for one. He did give us a refund but not for the services fees and taxes that he charged us. Where does that money go? Back to Cinemark across the road. A lot easier to work with.

I didn t see any concession stand when i walked in, only a bar. Went straight to my movie, ordered a drink and malt shake but was bummed there was no candy or popcorn, or at least I didn t see any. It was a menu like a restaurants menu, and I had just ate food at a restaurant before the movie, so I didn t want actual food. Seats were comfy but didn t recline. Theatre was clean. Didn t get a chance to go to restroom because the movie I was watching was good.

Went to see Indiana Jones on Sunday evening, not very busy, the theater and lobby were passable clean, the waiters were courteous, food was warm, however the wing were slightly over cooked. Smg now adds an 18% Service Charge to all food and drink orders, not clear if this is for the staff. Quality of the picture not quite bright, looked light it was time for a new bulb. Sound was good, clear, easy to hear and understand all of the dialog.

We were billed twice for food on my bank card? No where to request a refund. Tip was given but two billings one not even signed is absurd!! The food was not as good as it usually is. Only 12 people in the theater to watch The Blackening so it was the huge crowd to cause this error!

We had to sit on one of the rows for disabled folks due to taking our 86 yr old grandma out with us, who cant do many stairs but it was really unfortunate that they didnt offer reclining chairs, which my grandma would have loved as well. (The reason for 4 stars) Aside from that, it was clean, and it was comfortable (temperature wise) and the servers were pretty good. They do add on their own 18% gratuity automatically so you need to make sure you know that if youre going in here on a specific budget. (That was not a concern of ours but we did over hear people discussing it beside us, so figured Id mention it in case youre planning to let your kids go alone) We only got ice cream here so I cant give a rating on food but they did make a good Vodka Press and a good Tom Collins.

I came here because I wanted just a plain bacon cheeseburger with fries and sweet tea and to watch a movie. They didnt have sweet tea so I got unsweet with sugar packs. The tea came without sugar. I had to ask for it. The burger came and it had bbq with onion rings on it. After the server same one I ordered with came and got the food to replace with the correct order. She came and asked if I wanted the basic things on the burger. Ah, NO. Just cancel the order at this point and ready to walk out without watching the movie. Totally unbelievable experience. Check your order if you order anything with your movie. The server kept checking on everyone else but didnt even ask if I needed a refill. Horrible experience and service. Oh and the scan menus didnt work on the back row.

Went to the Park Blvd location in plano to see The little mermaid and the movie was great but honestly this location alone makes me NEVER want to give any SMG a shot again. The service was horrible! I tried to ignore the other bad reviews that was my first mistake. I ordered the brisket sliders they took 30 mins to come out and then they came out COLD. I asked them to remake the food and was told he put the order on rush. The food took about 25 mins to come back out COLD AGAIN, with two sliders instead of the three that they are suppose to come with. At that point I just requested a refund because there are two things that shouldnt be played with service and food. Oh and by the way I asked for a receipt for the refund and the guy acts like he had an attitude! All in all management really needs to handle these service issues and make sure the bathrooms are tended to bc they were awful too. On another note the guy with the mullet style haircut was always helpful in our interactions, seems like he may be the only one working.

I dont care for the food. Ive tried several different things on the menu. Its ok. Like one of those generic family style places. And I dont like wait staff walking around during the movie. Having said that, they are very nice here, and service is usually very quick. And its a good place to go for cocktails during a movie. The theater itself is nice. I wish more of the seats reclined, even just a little. A nice place to go for families, but Id skip the food and go to a restaurant afterwards for something like a date night.

My reason for not giving this Studio Movie Grill at least a four star rating is because how we were treated while watching The Little Mermaid movie. Wed walked in one of the young girls was slumped down on the counter so focused on her phone she never even looked up to see who was coming in and out the theater (SMDH). The other young girl that was behind the counter just looked but never even opened her mouth to say, Hello. I get it, this is the way the world is going hiring everyone young but lack personable and have unapproachable skills. Its baffling to think that no one walked up to even do customer service checks with their employees. As we go into our movie theater, my daughter places our snack orders, and drinks. Wed been waiting for about 10-15 minutes when my daughters frozen Margarita comes. Also my Root-beer soda comes. Now the movie has started then we see this man coming up to us and says, We couldnt have outside food in the movie theater. We looked at him because we knew one of the young Karens ran to tell that wed brought in food for our 2year toddler. The manager by the name of Jason ended up understanding that wed made very valid points. A two year old is very finicky and wont eat Nachos and hot cheese wiz (tasted the jalapeño mixed in the cheese by the way). Instead of the young girl Karen just bringing us our adult items that wed purchased she ran to make things more dramatic than what she shouldve done. I just dont think so many young people should be working at these major establishments without having common sense. A toddler under four years of age cant eat popcorn, nachos, with jalapeños cheese wiz etc. Its not like we had a smorgasbord of outside food. Everything we brought in was to accommodate our two year old guys. Jason ( manager) wouldve gave five stars if things werent blown out of proportion by your clueless staff. So not cool, not sure if well ever return to this Studio Movie Grill until our toddler is over five years of age just so she can eat what they serve.

Not all SMG locations are built the same. Unfortunately, this is one of the locations you should probably avoid. The chairs are comfy enough, but in a field of reclining chairs, they seem lacking. The temperature of the theater was uncomfortably warm while watching the movie. My wife and I had the chicken tenders and the nacho plate (which we have had at other locations), but the chicken was dry and overcooked and the flavor of the nacho dip was really off. Other than that, facility was clean and the staff was friendly and quick to respond, but the kitchen needs some improvement and the facility needs to step up to make it a great experience and not something we regret choosing.

Service was great, food was great, just annoyed by the waiters popping up a few times during the movie. I d definitely prefer that they send a digital receipt instead of passing them out towards the end of the movie to EVERYONE who ordered something. They should also number the seats better. A handful of people were being told to move over by a host throughout the theater and I could tell she was anticipating people making this mistake. Very polite in correcting them but I d suggest they fix it if they know it causes confusion. Overall SMG was definitely a good experience and worth trying out but I still prefer the feel of being in a traditional theater without people coming to interact with me and the people next me.

Its been almost a year since I went to SMG. Unfortunately, the food which I used to love has gone down hill. We ordered nachos and chicken tenders. I didnt want to hardly eat them. Seats still arent updated to recline and theres no happy hour. Hopefully they make better options soon. On a good note, the bathrooms were clean which is an improvement and the facility had a nice atmosphere.
