I would give negative stars if possible. Like many of the other reviews specifically regarding Catherine Hensley- she has been absolutely awful in representing my case. It started out fine, but then I wasnt even notified of a counterpetition being filed until over a month after it happened (and it was more of an after-thought during a phone consultation). Ive called and/or e-mailed at least 10 times in the last month, and no response (just requesting a copy of the orders that were sent on my behalf). She stood me up for two phone consultations, causing me to miss work and ultimately, money I could have made. I still dont have a copy of the most recent orders that were signed by a judge (and orders I did not see prior to them being sent to verify accuracy). I am also waiting on copies of other documents sent on my behalf. Please avoid using this attorney if you want anything done correctly. Her assistant, Juanita, was a huge part of the problem as well (and rude), but she no longer works there. No excuse considering Ive contacted multiple other staff members with NO response. And to the person who replies to all these- dont suggest that I call your office since Ive already done that multiple times. How about someone from your office return MY phone call or just send me the documents that I have a right to have copies of.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the service I received from the lady who answered the phone. Unfortunately, she was both rude and unprofessional in her manner. When I asked her how many years of experience the lawyer who is booking me has, she responded by telling me it would be better for me to call somewhere else. Instead of addressing my question or providing me with the information I was seeking, she abruptly hung up the phone on me. I find this level of professionalism unacceptable and concerning, as it suggests a lack of commitment to providing quality service to clients. I hope that you will take my complaint seriously and take steps to address this issue. As someone who has been considering working with your firm, I am disappointed to see that this kind of behavior is tolerated. I hope that someone from your firm will take notice of this and take steps to improve the customer service experience.

This review is solely based on my interaction with my attorney and her assistance. I did not have a lot of knowledge going into this case. Ive never had a lawyer, did not know where to start, how to start. I just started researching. I came across GJ Chavez and spoke with Catherine Hensley. I liked her kind heart and her willingness to help, or so I thought. I did not have loads of cash at my disposal, bouncing back from multiple lay offs from COVID. I made sure to explain it as thoroughly as I could but making sure I gave a realistic view of where I was at that time. Catherine understood made me feel welcomed. About 2 to 3 weeks in I stopped hearing from Catherine. Her assistant Juanita took over. The first few times Id call Juanita would say Catherine was unavailable and couldnt take my call but she sent Catherine a message and by the end of the day Catherine would call. End of the day would come, no call. Id call back the next day and would get the same response. Id call the following day Juanita would say the same thing, when I showed how frustrated I was, Juanita would say i just sent a message to Catherine she read it but isnt responding. It was the same story with the email. I emailed both my attorney and Juanita, guess what?? Noooooooo response. Never knew i was going to trial until a week before. This being after alll my emails and calls for more than 8 weeks maybe even longer of no communication. Trial came and there was no preparation, i remember answering questions the night before. Some evidence presented at trial i had never seen before and the other lawyer said he had sent it all over. It was a complete disaster. Following trial im emailing calling no response. More reasons given by Juanita as to why Catherine cant respond cant call etc. So a week and half ago i get an email from Juanita requesting for my withholding information. I respond asap and ask whats going on, is there an update? Guess what no response. It took me 2 almost 3 days to get my lawyer on the phone. The results were in mid April i didnt find out till May. Catherine debriefed me briefly, call didnt even last 20 minutes. Left me so confused. Didnt send me the orders from the judge nothing. So, of course i call back, Juanita does her usual shes not available shell call you back but let me add you to her calendar. I call back and guess what im not on the calendar, so the front office clerk adds me to Catherines calendar. I called Catherine the day of our scheudle call, it took over 6 calls, two hang ups and one sweet man from the billing department to get me over to Catherine. I ask for the orders gave her feedback again on Juanita and how diffcult it is to reach her. She said she had no idea other clients have been complaining too. I ask for the orders i get them and you guessed it, Catherine left out quite a bit try the whole order. I send an email and i am still waiting to hear back. I was also told Daniel would call me and im still waiting. Child custody cases are hard but theyre even harder when you put your trust in your representation and that representation doesnt have your best interests at heart.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with this law firm, and specifically with attorney Catherine Hensley. While she was polite, she was also the most unresponsive attorney I have ever dealt with. The entire firm was unresponsive, making it nearly impossible to get any meaningful progress on my case. If youre considering hiring this firm for anything important, I would seriously reconsider. It took ages to even get a reply, let alone actual results. I cant recommend them based on my experience.

I sought the services of this firm for revising my estate planning documents, a benefit offered through MetLife Prepaid Legal Services and my employer. The initial consultation with the attorney was prompt, and I received the first draft of some documents after about 10 days. However, my subsequent inquiries and requests for the remaining documents went unanswered. Id like to share my testimonial of the time Daniel Chavez of JG Wentworth and associates got me off! It was a warm summers eve when, at the local bingo parlor, Id had 4 Pina coladas and hit the jackpot, taking home a cool $76 and some autographed Oakridge Boys shwag. Livin on cloud 9, I was gonna stop by the Piggly Wiggly to get me a tub of Blue Bell to enjoy back at the trailer whilst watchin MacGuyver reruns. En route to the pigglewiggle, Melba snappy chatted a photo of herself in her undergarments. Naturally, I swerved my Ford ranger due to a combination of those obscenities, high blood pressure, glaucoma, and those 4 Coladas at bingo. Of course, I got pulled over for that infraction. I remember seeing his advertisement above the urinal for his legal services, so I called him immediately after screenshotting Melba! He wisely instructed me what to say and do. Something along the lines of I prefer not to take your sobriety tests as to not falsely incinerate myself considering, my lack of intelligence and memory with all due respect sir and whatnot. Paraphrasing of course. He took me to jail anyways, but not for that, it was cuz I wasnt wearin pants. A/C didnt work in the Ranger, and I didnt know it was illegal! Anyways, Daniel Justice Chavez got me off with no pants because Mirandas rights were somehow affected. Ill forever be indebted to Daniel and Miranda, whom Ive never met and can only assume was traumatized in the Pigglewiggle parkin lot with my no britches incident and have henceforth set up a fund called the pants party in which folks can donate their pants to the homeless. My back was against the wall and Daniel Chavez got me off... He can get you off, too! I rest my case. Court is adjourned!

Honestly all of the positive reviews must be paid for plants. Sort by review and just look at the ones at the bottom - thats going to be more typical experience. I must say that without a doubt Ben Perez is one of the least professional lawyers I have ever dealt with. This is what you get when you use ARAG! Beyond his lack of professionalism, he also cant make his time commitments! Late almost every single time. He was rude, egotistical, and the other side just raked us over the coals. I lost big going with these guys. Theres something to be said about a person with an ego that can back it up, but someone with an ego that cant? Well thats Ben. When they screw you over too dont say you werent warned because Im warning you now to just walk away from these people and find anyone else at all to represent you. Im serious. I feel a homeless addict would have been able to put together a more reasoned argument than Perez. I had a legal issue weighing heavily on my mind, and was having a lot of trouble getting a straight answer out of anyone I spoke with. When I met with Daniel Chavez he took all the time that was needed to break down each point, what the legal consequences would be in both the short and long term, and then walked me through a step-by-step plan to handle each one of them. Update: I am changing from a 1-star review to a 3-star review. Once I was able to get ahold of someone, be it the front desk or the lawyer on my case, everyone was courteous and professional. Signing was super easy and talking to my lawyer in person was a lot more light hearted than over email. We did miss the original deadline, which ended up having to be worked into the documents. On top of that, my original signing appointment had to be rescheduled. I had to reach out myself via email and phone rather than having someone reach out to me to reschedule. Though they were a few days late, I did get more frequent replies to my emails by the end. Id be happy to give this firm another chance, given a far less time-sensitive event. Part of the fault was on me not seeking out counsel earlier, so I dont want to leave an entirely bad review, but it could have been handled better on both sides overall. --- Original review: I called and spoke to an attorney here about a month ago. It took me 2 weeks and a follow up email (that was never replied to) to get the retainer drawn up. 2 weeks and a follow up email, call, and chat message later, and I have still received any response regarding a draft. I dont think I even have any unique circumstances that would take this much time. Im sure the attorneys here are as great as some of the other reviews say, but if you have some sort of deadline, it may be better to go elsewhere. Edit: I was contacted today regarding my case. I will be happy to update my rating upon conclusion.

Ben Perez is without a doubt the least professional lawyer Ive ever dealt with - steer clear! Thank God I didnt hire him, though my ex-wife did. Multiple ethics violations which Ive reported, having to take him to small claims court because he set up a date and time I was supposed to get my belongings from my ex-wife except, guess what? So inept he didnt even mention it to her, so now Im out the money I paid for movers. He wont respond to emails, despite the fact they were case related questions he was asked - a clear violation of tx bar ethics. My divorce would have been over so much quicker if hed actually do his job, now Im telling the world about it. STEER CLEAR FROM THIS THIRD RATE FIRM.!!!

Attorneys are hired to represent people. A call/email would help to de-escalate any disagreement between the client and other parties. I was not represented by the attorney, the primary client was my ex-husband. As attorneys, they had a responsibility to talk and represent him. Husband referred me to the attorney for updates, the firm stated I was not a client. Perhaps a payment and/or fees might not cover the attorney handling a calls for clients. I wonder if calls from other attorneys are declined as well as a strategy to prolong processes. Attorney fees ($2,800) were originally paid with marital assets, and both spouses provided all information to expedite the process. This is a review about the lack of communication and poor service or diligence. The customer (ex-husband) needed his attorney to update the other party, as agreed in meeting in office. This is/was the best interest of your client. We will be fair and update this review. *Update: As per conversation following this review with Attorney Perez, he filed paperwork electronically a few weeks ago, but the office did not update respondent as agreed previously with petitioner and respondent in office. He apologized for the delays. I thanked him for completing the process he had committed to while communicating effectively. Also a secretary called from the office today to confirm filing with the State. Attorneys staff scheduled an initial phone consultation for 2:00 pm. At 2:15 pm, I was told the attorney was running a few minutes late. At 3:30, the staff called me to tell me the attorney was now available. 90 minutes is not a few minutes late. 90 minutes late is approaching rude. Dont waste your time with this attorney

Would not recommend. I had a consultation with Catherine and never heard back from her or anyone at that firm. She assured me that she would begin working on my situation and have letters drafted. After 8 days of waiting, I reached out and spoke to Karla Bautista. She identified herself as the paralegal and had me explain the entire situation to her again. She assured me that someone would reach out and provide me with more information. After 3 more follow-up by emails and 2 more phone calls, I decided this was not the firm to help me resolve my issue.

Abysmal experience. I was referred to this law firm and spoke to Daniel Chavez. Subsequently after our first phone call, I made three follow ups with this individual s secretary and never received a call back or any follow up. If you are having to make phone calls to an attorney, you most likely have a sensitive and/or stressful situation going on and you expect, at minimum, a level of professionalism in return. The only good thing about this experience is that early on Mr. Chavez demonstrates what hiring him would look like for your case: an absent lawyer.
