This old Plano BYOB Italian restaurant is gold. Try the smoked chicken agnoloti and you will return. Their wings are better than wing specialty places or chain restaurants. Bring a bottle of Chianti and enjoy this place.

Carried out. Vibe could only get better with a change in decor. Service seemed shaky (they were full on a Friday, so somewhat expected). Food though, what REALLY counts at a 35 year old Italian place, right?! Regrettably underwhelmed. My meatball sub had no texture - neither the bread nor the meatball. Frozen meatballs?? Lasagna, same way. Needed way more flavor, with garlic practically absent. Ill give the pizza a try next time, but for me, Italian aint baseball...2 strikes are enough.

I ve been coming here once in a while when I m missing the awesome Italian food I grew up with in the NYC suburbs. Trust me, we NYers know if it s the real deal when we walk in and smell the garlic aroma and fresh marinara sauce wafting from the kitchen. The lasagna is outstanding, pasta dishes are very good and the Veal Parmesan I had last week was perfect. Don t expect the big box restaurant vibe or the insincere phony greetings you get in chain restaurants. If Joe Covino says it s nice to see you, he means it! Highly recommended!!!

I have been coming to Covinos for over 20 years, and it is always great. We had a party of 10 for my dads birthday, and everyone loved the food as always. The staff are very friendly and our server, Brett, did a really good job with our tables. He might be one of the best servers Ive ever had. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and got everything we needed. Covinos rocks. It is BYOB, so I recommend bringing a couple of bottles of some good wine. Great experience.

Worst Stramboli i think i have ever had. $5.00 for a salad with iceberg lettuce and a couple thin slices of tomatoes. Nothing else in the salad. Atmosphere is in shopping center that looks like it should have been demolished 10 yrs ago. Eddies to the South in Plano is 10x what this place is.

We waited for 45 minutes outside to be seated, so I expected the food to be great. Unfortunately, it wasnt. The soup was served cold, the garlic and cheese bread was just a heated bun with melted cheese on it, and the chicken aristocrat was the worst. The penne was undercooked (rubbery texture). The sauce was salty, and the chicken and eggplant were cold. The only thing that was good were the double fried wings. Joe, the owner, came over to our table and questioned my constructive criticism. For the record, I have over 25 years of kitchen experience. I should know if food is undercooked or not.

We ordered take out from Covino s on the referral of our neighbor. We had previously lived in Chicago for a decade and miss some authentic Italian dishes in our time here in Plano so far. We were very happy with all that we ordered - we got the Carbonara, Gnocci with tomato cream sauce and some buttered noodles for the kids. It came with some amazing fresh bread that 3 house salads. This was a great restaurant find for us and we will definitely be back! Hoping to try out dinner in the dining room soon! Kid-friendliness: They do offer butter/oil garlic noodles for kids. Probably could ask for noodles to come plain as well. Did not see a kids menu though.

The service is amazing, our waiter Bill was so kind, gave us recommendations on plates we never tried ( and loved) and was such a joy to be around throughout our night. Joe welcomed us and was kind and friendly, per usual. The food is amazing, portions are healthy and my favorite, gnocchi is to die for- try it in the pesto cream! Melt in your mouth good.

The restaurants a little hidden in the back of the center. Its not the most elegant place, but its not without its charm. It reminds me of a New York neighborhood restaurant. Theres a familiarity and charm and its the kind of place where you can become a regular. The food is delicious. Im not a fan of the bread. The white loaf may be the worst bread Ive had a restaurant. With that aside, the rest of the food is really good. The red sauce is fantastic. One in our party cant eat gluten without becoming ill, and they made a gluten-free pasta for her and grilled chicken with capers and artichokes. She really enjoyed it. I had the cappuccino pie. Its worth trying. I cant wait to go back and try more. It is a BYOB establishment. They offer wine glasses and open the wine. Super nice staff. Dietary restrictions: They can prepare gluten free meals.

Went to Covinos again on Saturday night for dinner for excellent authentically cooked Italian food as always. Had the pizza last night but have also tried the lasagna, chicken parm, alfredo and spaghetti and meatballs in the past and all were excellent. Arrabiata Sauce is also available for people that like things a little more spicy and is rarely found on other places menus. The Owner Joe was there to greet us and and also checked in our table during the meal. A sincere owner who cares about quality and service and is hands on in his own business. The BYOB wine itself will save you enough to pay for one or two entrees avoiding the upcharges other places put on their price of a bottle. The amount of regulars you see eating there constantly is living proof it is a neighborhood gem. Dont forget the dessert menu at the end. Fabulous!

Covino s is a cozy, old school, prepared-with-love-Italian-American and it is on our regular rotation when we are in the mood to splurge on a few extra calories. I m a transplanted New Yorker and consider this the best in the area for this type of food. I call it red sauce Italian but that s just a term differentiating it from other types of regional Italian cuisine. They do have creamy sauces, along with picatta and Marsala on their specials menu. They do a nice linguini with clam sauce too (white or red - chopped clams). And this is important their red sauce is NOT sweet (yay!)

I moved to Texas from Northern New Jersey 13 + years ago, I can honestly say that I had yet to find an Italian food restaurant here in Texas worth recommending. Until now. Covinos goes well out of their way to take care of their customers.... I should say, their guests, Covinos has a family air to it. Today was my third visit, Bill helped me all three times, Russ assisted me, as well, the last time I was here, about 2-3 weeks ago, Bill and Russ go well out of their way, along with all of the other employees, to make their guests experiences, completely enjoyable. I had special requests for how I wanted my pizza, and unlike an unnamed, other local location in Plano, about 2 miles due North of Covinos, that couldnt be bothered, both Bill & Russ went well out of their way to get my pizza for me as I requested. As for the owner, Joe, all I can say, is that Joe is one of the most gracious, personable and down to earth restaurant owners that I have yet to meet, he greets all of the guests and is a just a really nice guy. While I was waiting for my pizza to come out, we chatted and had some good laughs, along with Bill; Joe, Bill, Russ and the other employees at Covinos, make it very enjoyable to be there. Oh, and the food.... excellent, like I mentioned, this is the third time back there, I have yet to visit any other Italian restaurants in the area more then once, and I have every intention in going back there. I highly recommend Covinos; ask for Bill or Russ, and if Joe is there, make sure you find him and chat with him, you will not be disappointed in the food, the atmosphere or the people there. Thank you Bill, Russ & Joe for a great experience, in ALL ways!!

Very underwhelmed by this place. Service leaves much to be desired. It is not a $$ but more a $$$ Very overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. The Covinos chicken salad was nothing but lettuce soaked in dressing (same as the house salad) with 4 slices of tomato and the thinnest and dry sliver of what should have been a chicken breast. The sodas are 2.50 per can . The Lasagna $18 was a very weak clump of meat sauce, no substance or layers. No bread for the meat sauce either. The chicken parm $18 was also a skimpy piece of chicken with the thinnest possible piece of cheese.

I have gone here for around 10 years or so; always a phenomenal experience, the food is always good, and the cheesecake is the bomb! I highly recommend visiting here to enjoy some solid Italian food and support a local business owner who has become a pillar of the Plano community.

Decent, home style Italian food. Its BYOB so youre responsible for the quality of the drink. The fettuccini had the arrabbiata sauce which was way too spicy ! The chicken ravioli was good, except the sauce was too thick. But it was a great environment and good friends.

For 30 years plus Joe has been put the I in Italian food. Coming from the East Coast this has been our go to spot for 30+ years! We love a medium dough stretched to a large pie extra crispy or my personal favorite Chicken Aristocrat, you cant go wrong with any of their items. Remember to BYOB (a great cheap date night)!!!!

My favorite neighborhood Italian cafe. If youre looking for a real, honest-to-goodness New York Pizza, thin and juicy, this is it. Everything on the menu is wonderful, though, so dont feel constrained. BYOB, small corkage fee. Be willing to wait for a table, inside or outside.

Love this place, weve had their pasta meals and their pizzas, just about everything and everything is top notch. When you order food to go they dont give you smaller portions they are big enough for 2 meals.

Even with Covid, they still stack the tables too close together. Noisy atmosphere, people on top of you, wait staff is impatient, customers are loud and drunk. It is NOT a pleasure to eat there. Take out is okay, actually okay. I hate eating in the restaurant though.

Italian s believe in family and food. This gem of a restaurant believes in both. When you can go to a restaurant, eat dishes that taste homemade and they make you feel like family, you have found your go to restaurant. The pizza is cooked to perfection as well are the pasta s. I m not a dessert person but I always have to try a cannoli if it s on the menu. I felt like I was in Little Italy in NY. Delicious!

Everything is good, but my favorite pasta is the Chicken Agnolotti and the wings really are the best in town. Go check them out!! Highly recommend :)

Weve been going to Covinos for many years. Great family business with awesome staff and fantastic food. Today we had them cater a Graduation Party and they did a fantastic job. They had the food ready on time and everyone in our family raved about it. Im so happy to have them around as a family owned restaurant. Thank you to all the staff and the owner, you went above and beyond and fed our family and friends. It was amazing. (BYOB!) Dine in or take out, they are a go-to staple! Thank you and best wishes!

Covinos is a great BYOB Italian restaurant. The chicken wings say best in town which would normally be a ridiculous claim from an Italian restaurant, but they are really good. Not best in town but quite good. The serving sizes are pretty large for the price. Definitely a place to try if you like pasta and Italian sandwiches. Havent had the pizza.

I recently returned to Covinos. Ordered the best wings in town! Certainly, not Plano. Order lots of pricey extra cost sauce if you like mostly bone. My main course? Mussels. More like muscle. I did not know mussels lived in the Mississippi River.

The food was great. The wait staff were friendly and relaxed even though they had all tables filled. The atmosphere was cozy. Its a very casual setting with a comfortable vibe. I only gave 4 stars rather than 5 because seating was a little cramped, however, it was a Friday night and they also have a large patio but it was too cold to take advantage of the outside dining area. Its worth checking out. You may even become a regular.
