About the Company

rating: 4.4

Nishiki Ramen is a family-owned business with 3 locations in San Diego, California, and one location in Plano, Texas. Our owner, Mike, was born in Tokyo, Japan, and brings authentic Japanese flavors to our community. We pride ourselves on making everything from scratch. Our noodles are made fresh daily in-house, and customers can watch the process in our on-site noodle factory. Our broth is crafted in a 200-liter pressure vessel to extract rich umami flavors from pork and chicken. Our chashu meats are cooked to perfection using a state-of-the-art steam convection oven. We are committed to enhancing ramen quality while preserving its traditional Japanese style.

Noodle is unique. #1 black garlic soup is very flavorful. It is a bit pricy but you get a full egg and home made noodle. Pork belly is soft and thick. Worth trying for sure.

The less than stellar reviews of this place are ridiculous. Yes its more expensive than others but the quality is worlds better and they give more protein than any other place Ive been to. We ordered the smoke bomb and nishiki ramen and both were truly the best taken Ive ever had. Ill be coming here weekly because its just SO AMAZING. I will give the caveat that tonkotsu broth is my favorite ramen broth by not close and that is what they specialize in here. Tonkotsu is VERY hard to do well and Im still impressed with the quality here.

Nishiki Ramen offers good-tasting food, but I found the prices a bit higher compared to other nearby ramen spots. While the quality was nice, I m not sure the extra $3-4 per dish is fully justified. The portion sizes were average as well not larger compare to others. One small point of confusion was the Grand Opening 50% Off banner, which wasn t very clear about whether the promotion was still available. Overall, while the experience was pleasant, there are other options in the area that might offer better value for the price.

Was excited to try a new local place with my wife. We were happy we did. We went with the classics, pork and chicken, on our first visit. Both were wonderful with deep, complex flavors and umami in both broths. The noodles were perfect. Cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Dinner rush on a Sunday night should let you know how popular it is already.

Theyre really pricey for a typical any other tasting ramen. If theyre expensive because their noodles are made from scratch, then I would suggest getting a pre-made noodles for cheaper price as they taste exactly the same and I couldnt even tell the difference. The service sucked too because they seemed like they didnt know what to do. No host so bunch of people line up in that tight small entrance.

came by interested in the big kakuni ramen, unfortunately as they have just soft opened they are still in the process of crafting out their menu. no worries, we were able to find other delicious choices. for appetizers we got the chicken karaage & pork gyoza, really loved the karaage. it was hot & juicy and the marinade was so flavorful & came with a spicy mayo sauce. the gyoza were super crispy & hot as well. i got the akuma (spicy tonkotsu ramen) & my partner got their no.2 popular akuma ramen. the broth is very creamy, noodles had the perfect cross between soft & chewy, egg was super jammy in the middle, the chashu was tender & had a sweet charsiu kind of marinade. the broth wasn t as spicy as i expected but i did get a little hint, it s honestly enough to where you can comfortably enjoy your bowl of ramen without sweating. overall, i really enjoyed everything we had. all the flavors were intense & everything was made fresh. i feel like they had a good variety in ramen options wether it be pork, chicken or vegetarian but im excited for them to roll out more items!

I read that the noodles were homemade and are freshly made daily. Honestly, I couldnt really tell if the noodles were homemade, but the texture was chewy, and I enjoyed it. The broth was a bit salty but was very flavorful. The pork gyoza was very crunchy and delicious as well.

Was excited to try this new ramen place especially after seeing that they make their own noodles. Unfortunately I was totally disappointed in their noodles. The broth was okay. Tried both the tonkotsu and akuma broth. The akuma was the better of the two. However you cant have a great bowl of ramen unless both the broth and noodles are good. After living in Japan and traveling there many times. Getting an awesome bowl of ramen might cost $8-10, this place runs almost 2x as much and not somewhere Id need to try again.

Nishiki Ramen is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The ramen here is simply outstanding. The broth is rich and flavorful, simmered to perfection, and the noodles have the perfect chew. Their menu offers a great variety, but the Nishiki Ramen is a must-try creamy, savory, and utterly satisfying. The toppings are fresh and generous, from tender slices of chashu to the perfectly cooked eggs. Nishiki Ramen is a must-visit for any ramen lover. Five stars without a doubt!

We were craving some ramen so went to the soft opening for Nishiki Ramen. Inside of Nishiki Ramen has really nice aesthetics. It was probably a cool 67-70 degrees which is perfect to avoid this Texas 100+ weather. James was our server, and he was real cool. The owners son in law came out and was helping out too. He has good aesthetics. We got the Nishiki, Akuma, and Smoke Bomb Black ramens with Chicken karagaage and Russian Roulette Takoyaki. The Akuma ramen has a very nice spicy kick to it. Prepare to drink some extra water because it pops with spice, but it was perfect for me. The smoke bomb black has a really unique flavor to it, but it was delicious. All of the ramen came out nice and fresh. The chicken karaage was nice and hot. The Russian Roulette Takoyaki was very good. James warned us about the wasabi that was in it, but you can get it without it which he suggested. Appreciate you James. Its part of a plaza with other restaurants. The building is very nice! Definitely would go back for a ramen fixing.

Went for dinner on a Sunday and got seated right away. I ordered the spicy Akuma and it was some of the best ramen I ve ever had. The broth was delicious and even though it was a bit too spicy for me (I have a low spice tolerance), it was thick and flavorful. The noodles were perfectly cooked with a nice chew, the meat was soft and smoky, and the corn added a subtle sweetness and fresh crunch that balanced out the rest of the meal. I also tried some of my boyfriend s Smoke Bomb Black and that was delicious as well. The broth was more mild, but super smoky and garlicky. The egg yolk was perfectly jammy and had just the right amount of flavor (not too bland or too salty). Next time I d like to try their chili oil with one of their non-spicy ramens. The servers were all very kind and polite, and maybe even a bit too attentive (but I m an introvert). Since they ve just opened, I hope that they continue with the same quality and attention to detail. One final note, the door handle was really hot when I opened it, so if they could add some sort of padding or shade that would be great :)

They make their own noodles, they are super chewy and satisfying. They have a thick tonkotsu broth thats creamy and fatty. They make their own rayu, which is actually spicy and flavorful. Their toppings are a bit lacking in terms of adding texture to the bowl, but they are working with an amazing base so any better toppings would make this perfect.

I had the pleasure of visiting on a Sunday at 12:30 p.m. during their soft opening, and overall, it was a great experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, open, and, clean, which immediately made a positive impression. The service was attentive, polite, and always ready to assist, making me feel like a valued guest. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen, which was pretty good. The broth had a deep, rich flavor that really hit the spot, and the whole egg they served was perfectly cooked definitely a highlight of the meal. However, I did find the pork to be on the extra fatty side, and I would have appreciated a bit more of it, especially considering the $17 price tag. The portion size could have been larger as well, given the price. That said, I understand this was during their soft opening, so I m sure there s room for some adjustments. Despite these minor issues, I would still come back for another bowl. While it might not be the best ramen Ive ever had, its definitely a solid choice, and Im excited to see how they evolve in the future. If youre in the area, its worth giving them a try.

I can t eat pork so I got the chicken, and likewise, the chashu chicken is actually delicious? Like it s usually a kind of dry cut of meh chicken, I usually substitute it for an ajitsuke egg, but with the soft open I didn t get that choice luckily for me! All I hope for is an option to add menma when they re fully open, and this place will be my go-to ramen joint. Pictured: I didn t take a pic until I was about done, lol

The ramen had good flavor, but the portions are really bad. I ordered the Nishiki ramen, which comes with two paper thin slices of bacon-sized pork (don t be misled by the photos online) and maybe a teaspoon of corn and other ingredients. The noddles were good and the creamy broth was a nice surprise, but I left still hungry. You can go drive less than 10 minutes to Oni Ramen for better flavor and portions. Or across the street to Sapporo for better portions and less flavor. Service was bad. It was difficult to ask questions to or hear our waitress. We said we were ready to order and then she walked away and helped several other tables before returning. When we finished, we sat there staring at her for a good ten minutes waiting for acknowledgment. She finally came to clear the table next to us so I asked for our check. She then continued to help several other tables for another ten minutes before coming back and asking if we were ready. The place looked cool and got pretty busy as the lunch rush came in, but I just can t imagine coming back and paying $20 to leave hungry.
