I ve been going to Tune Up Manly Salon for a while now, and I can honestly say it s one of the best experiences I ve had at a barbershop. Teshia is a top-notch barber! Her attention to detail is second to none, and she always makes sure you leave looking sharp. From the moment I walked in, she made me feel comfortable, listened to exactly what I wanted, and delivered beyond my expectations. The atmosphere at Tune Up is great relaxed, clean, and welcoming. Ive had a membership here at the Pearland location for years. Everytime I come in the customer service is getting worse. Holly is the reason for canceling the membership. She cuts hair great but if your not tipping her $100 she looks the other way. A few months back she refused to cut my 4 year old sons hair even though I scheduled an appointment. Her response was because she wont make enough money. Today I had an appointment at 2pm and Holly was in the building on the phone and never acknowledged me. I sat there for just over 25mins before another stylist walked in and they finally decided who would cut my hair. Im willing to go somewhere else out of my way and pay more money than to go to this place. I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone

DON T SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP IF YOU NEED APPOINTMENTS! After just two months, I unfortunately cancelled my membership today. I signed up thinking that I could make appointments during my lunch break to get a haircut. They let you make an appointment online, but they never honor the appointment. Out of 4 visits, three of them started over 45 minutes late. No apologies either. Today, my stylist very clearly either took a walk-in or possibly a friend instead of my scheduled appointment. I had a work meeting scheduled for afterwards and couldn t wait around today so had to leave. For me, that just doesn t work. The haircuts I got were good and I liked my stylist, but until they can honor appointment times, I will have to find another barber.

I scheduled online which was very easy. I didn t even know this place was here and manage the hotel around the corner. The service was GREAT. I walked in feeling defeated from this hell of a week and having no power. My stylist made me feel normal again and that is something that is priceless in this world. Simple empathy and compassion in this industry goes a long way. I ll be coming here from now on .

I was a couple minutes late (not that anyone would know because there was no one to check me in) and apparently my appointment got bumped. Interesting when I was sitting there for 15 minutes though. Called the Webster location and was given much better service. Go to any other location!

Victoria will get you right on point on what you want and need she s pretty good at what she does ! But the building it s self is hot especially for it being the beginning of the summer building was 80°F and it was only 1:00pm I would hate to be the workers having to be there all day wish the owner will do something about that way i can get my membership going again if not we will see in the fall Hair type: I get a mid fade with a zero and a 3 on top with a little beard work

I have been coming here for 5 years now. I just got my monthly membership set up last month. The staff is great and always on point. The owner ship does not take care of this place. The AC was non existent 2 weeks ago and after today it s so bad it was 83 degrees inside. It s miserable as a customer and I m sure for the staff as well. I have said something the last 2 visits and I recommend anyone that s coming for the first time to be prepared. The owners need to get this resolved and take care of their establishment. I m not sure I will be keeping my membership or referring anyone until this is resolved and I can t see how staff is going to deal with this through the summer.

Tune-Up has turned into the new heat saunas. The air quality was horrible. I am not sure how the stylists can handle 8 to 10 hours a day in this poor working condition. The owner may be too cheap to fix or buy the new AC. Good luck to a dying business.

Update** The manager contacted me after my review and did a really good job of addressing my concerns. Thank you. Ive been going to this location for 3 years. Occasionally, I might have a problem or two. But, usually not big enough to write a review on. However, on my last hair cut. I really couldnt believe on how I was treated, especially an established client that ALWAYS tips 30% or more. I had an appointment scheduled, even arrived 5 mins early. A guy with no appointment who was sitting at the bar, goes ahead of me to the stylist I reserved. I waited for an hour to finally get my haircut. Why am I reserving an appointment, if the business isnt going to honor it? Especially when they threaten to fine you if youre late or have to cancel your appointment. I replied to the automated text and put down my entire bad experience. But, never received a word from management. Nor, did anyone offer any kind of compensation for my lengthy wait time while I was waiting for my turn. Im done with this place and their extremely high prices. Dont waste your time here, unless you like adding stress to your life.

The person who cut my childs hair has not any experince with children, she cut his ear, lost her patience with him even when my child was yelling that she was hurting him in several occacions and even after the nick in the ear, she never apologized and throughtot the entire haircut she showed very bad manners, She does not know how to treat children. I was there because its was recommended, but it is by far the worst place for a childrens hair cut. I wil never come back there ever again. Very bad experince.

My boyfriend came here on his lunch break and booked an appointment; where they said he would be seen at his appt time then they made him wait while someone was sweeping after sitting for 20 mins & someone walking in and immediately being seen he left asked if he should pay for his drink and she told him they re complementary and asked if he wanted to tip lol. He ll stick to the Friendswood location and never coming back here. This place should shut down or rehire new people according to the reviews

Extremely disappointing with the continued service. Customer service is not important to them. Was trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but twice they screwed up my hair and my beard. Pretty challenging when all you have to do is run a zero with no guard on my head. Twice I asked for them to line out my beard and both times they made curves everywhere. Completely disregarded my request. Done here. On to find a better barber shop that actually listens to what the customers wants.

If you have close to 2 hours to invest in your haircut. This is the place for you. They also just raised their prices again. I have gotten my hair cut here close to 10 times. Great haircut 90% of the time. Both gentleman in the cut hair very well. Ask for either. You will wait anywhere from 30mins to 1 hour before your cut. Seemingly, regardless of appointment or not. Drinks are hit or miss on being served. Due to staff shortages apparently. The Barbers then will spend close to the same time with you, depending on what you are getting. Never was pressured to be upsold on anything but hair products for home (like every other similar business). Would possibly return when they have the staff and availability to get people in and out in a timely manner. Multiple occasions the waiting area would have 3-5 people waiting with only 2 Barbers working. Thats when you just close the door, slowly walk away, try again another day! Place seems to have potential. Good skilled workers, good atmosphere, good location. More Barbers, or better management of them would greatly help this location.

I am new here to the Texas/Pearland area. And I was very apprehensive on finding a new Barber. So I came across Tune Up and liked what I saw as far as the service they provide and how the shop looked in general. So I booked with what I see was the only male barber there. And I m not saying I am opposed of a woman cutting my hair. So I booked with the gentleman there named DJ, and when I say he did not disappoint me at all. He was very attentive, and made sure my process was smooth from when I arrived to when he finished. I think I ve found my new barber. It s some really good other barber also I see at Tune Up so I recommend this place. Also you get two free drinks of your choice either it s an Adult Beverage or Non Adult Beverage with each haircut, and that s a plus in my book lol.

Why I give this place two stars is multiple occasions I have scheduled appointments with DJ, and when I show up, he has sat someone in his chair. I have been here 6 times. Each time I have sat in a different,chair with a different stylist. My first was Tesha and my last one (today) was Tesha. Every stylist in between just didnt do it for me. They did the job but it never really hit home. I was about to cancel my membership as it was always an issue of them being able to identify me as a member. I would have to show them the bank withdrawal which is a big turn off. Well today was to be the last day. I walk in for my appointment and they are way behind. Just another reason to end it. I waited outside in the nice weather then just before going thomeni called and checked and they said a spot was open. I went in and it was Tesha. She spoke, communicated, and made me feel welcomed. We discussed the busy day, weather, and a personal experiences of bad weather all while she worked. At the end I was so pleased with my hair and beard. I had a haircut there on May 18. The entire process which was a haircut and a light trim of my mustache took about 10 to 14 minutes. When I was paying I thought I was checking off a 20% tip. It turned out that I was billed for a $20 tip. I called on the 24th after I reviewed my bank statements wishing to be refunded for the difference between $20 and 20% and was told the manager will get back to me right away. That didn t happen. I called back today on the 28th and was told that the tips that already been distributed and I was out of luck. Perhaps if they had called me back on time on the 24th the tip distribution would not have been a problem for me. It would not be so bad if I had gotten a very good haircut and trim and was pleased with the service. I did not and was not. She trimmed the right side of my mustache closer than the left. It was more apparent when I could look at myself more close-up in the mirror. Bad service all the way around.

To anyone who is considering signing up for their monthly unlimited haircut membership, do not do it. They claim to give you unlimited haircuts for $75 a month and if you want any extra service such as a straight razor edge up, it will cost an additional five dollars. However at the moment of checkout they double the price and tell you that prices went up. I asked about it twice before signing up and after signing up about extra costs and I was always told different prices. The employees here don t even know the price of their services. They give you a bunch of runaround s and don t live up to the expectations I demanded a partial refund since I had only gotten two haircuts and was unhappy with the raising of their prices at the last minute and was told no way you already paid for it. Don t be like me, just stick to a regular old fashion barbershop .

This place is absolutely amazing! They are dealing with employee retainer issues, but regardless, they offer the same excellent service every time if you are willing to understand the circumstances outside of their control, as most customers should. Helena, Christine, & Alex do a fantastic job managing the circumstances outside of their control and deserve a raise! 10/10 recommend. Make an appointment over the phone first, and you won t be disappointed! Most people leaving 1-star reviews dont understand the difficulty of the service industry, and unfortunately, during this time, these issues are rampant. Be considerate and recognize that sometimes there are things that employees cannot control, which excuses these minor inconveniences that we as customers are more than able to ignore.

Sunday 4-24-22. Front desk lady was nice but the atmosphere was dead here. I came in with 100$ worth of business and did not get my $100 worth. I figured the barber/hairdressers would greet and take us back to the station. Nope had to ask who was taking one of my three kids. I figured after I mention my youngest had sensory issues that the hairdresser would be more excited and trying to make it more comfortable for him. Nope. Finally I said it was like a heartbreak bar up in here. No one interacted at all not to mention Adele Easy was playing so that was depression. Not very manly or welcoming here. The most depressing $100 ever spent. I also tipped not because of a job well done because honestly it sucked but to hopefully bring a smile for fox sakes. 2 stars only for the front reception. Quality hair and beard spot for men. The manly appeal can feel a bit forced at times but in general the quality of the service is better than most larger chains. I had set an appointment for a haircut and the receptionist said that there was only one barber available on Sunday, but what the weird thing was that there were two other barbers cutting hair. When I got there the receptionist was not hospitable towards me, also the service was poor the barber took too long to prep then while I was getting my haircut the barber was on his phone which is entirely unprofessional and he actually stopped cutting my hair to text someone. Not to mention the injuries I sustained from the clippers the barber used to cut my hair. Also i asked the barber to give me a high fade and he gave me a mid fade instead like he didnt listen to what his customer wanted i hope he gets fired

My two boys (4+7) love coming to the Big Boy place to get their hair cuts. As someone who doesnt know the numbers used to describe their cuts, the stylists are always helpful in telling me about the picture I show them as an example of what I want and how it will look on my super blonde kiddo. Not only do they offer free drinks (liquor,beer,and non alcoholic) but they offer the boys ice cream or ice pops before or after their appointment which makes the trip so much sweeter for the boys! My oldest so bragged to his uncle, and now hes hooked on the place too!

Not taking stated COVID precautions The previous reply is not accurate. The sign on the door states a mask is required. When I witnessed a patron entering without a mask, I called before entering. I was told by the associate on the phone that customers were required to wear a mask unless seated at the station or having a drink. So I entered to check in. While checking in, two patrons entered without a mask. Nothing was said to them about the mask policy. Then, I requested to wait in my car for my appointment. I was told I might miss my appointment If I left the building. This is not the way to treat a customer who used to regularly visit with my two boys. Please work with your associates to consistently enforce your health policies.

I have been coming here for almost a year now and have been very impressed with each visit. Scheduling is a breeze and all of the stylists are knowledgeable and know exactly how to cut correctly. Besides the awesome staff you are allowed 2 drinks of your choice for no extra charge and they also have games available for you to play while waiting. 10/10 would recommend.

The staff is friendly and attentive. I got what I needed. I was tired of going to nail salons where people keep staring at me. This may sound crazy, however, the music was driving me nuts. Nothing manly about them at all. I couldn t give 5 stars because of the music. I ve been in here since 6p and listening to the music. Can t relax with it broski. No go sir. Can t even get myself hyped. I will come with headphones on next time perhaps, but then again I would miss all the great service the staff provides. 50/50. Wish I didn t leave my airpods in my blazer. I might to visit the ENT after this my ears are bleeding. Jk. Take care

Just moved to the area and needed a cut after putting it off due to the pandemic. Hannah took very good care of me. The cut was great and she really made sure everything was perfect. After the wash, which ill get to in a min, she was applying product to my hair and noticed a stray clump. Most would have used the product to flatten it but she addressed it with thinning shears which I appreciated. The shampoo and hot towel treatment was amazing. The most relaxing point in my stressful week. I almost fell asleep.

I ve never had an experience quite like this. For $30 you get a free drink (alcohol, soda, juice or water), a clean haircut, a hair wash, and a hot towel over your face. No appointment required. Walk ins are acceptable but if you want to avoid any wait, you can set up an appointment via app or phone call. The receptionist was super friendly and fun to talk with, and the stylist who cut my hair was absolutely brilliant and kind. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted and continuously asked for my input. I honestly hate getting haircuts but for the first time ever in 32 years, I am actually excited for the next time I need a trim or cut.

Gonna miss my stylist but not the non communication. No signs up about accepting appointments only for the second time. List a customer for life. They don t respond when messages and don t seem as friendly as they used to. Guess because of staff change. Free drinks aren t everything.

The stylist and all employees I do enjoy. I m just not a huge fan of the business model with regards to VIP members getting to skip the line. I understand there has to be perks with it, but for people who get 2 haircuts a month, $120 minimum for a VIP membership is not worth it. If you re not a VIP member, you can be waiting thinking you re next then you can be skipped and wait for another 30-45 minutes minimum. If you don t get many haircuts every month, just be prepared you might have to wait longer than normal for a haircut here.

GREAT PLACE!!! I loved every second of it. I came by today for my boyfriend hair cut and Tammy did an AMAZING job he loves it so much. Based on the owners reply below, I will not be returning. It was not one stylist on the phone, it was all three that I could see there and the check in lady had to approach each one to try and get them off of their phones. The hair cut and beard trim are $40 together, but then the mandatory $10 tip makes it $50, the credit card machine doesnt give the option not to tip. And apparently the stylist abrasive attitude is acceptable. So rather than blame the customer for your horrible service perhaps you should address the issue within your business. (original review follows) Ive come here three times now. The first time customer service was decent for a $30 hair cut. Second trip, the customer service was OK at best. Today I went for a hair cut and beard trim that ran $50. Customer service was severely lacking. The check in ladies were nice but they had to convince any of the barbers to put their cell phones down and take a customer. My hair cut is a short flat top, the barber said, that doesnt tell me anything, what do you want. For $50, customer service needs to be exceptional, cell phones needs to go down and the customer needs to be taken care of first.

Came here while on vacation and was pleasantly impressed. I m very picky and only trust one stylist back at home, but the place seemed clean and professional so I decided to try it out. Staff were friendly and experienced. Satisfied with the quality of the cut and customer service. If I lived in the area, I would have purchased the membership. But I ll be back whenever I m back in town.

Been here 3 times. First cut was mediocre and took forever. Second cut was better. 3rd cut was for my son ....it took 55 minutes for a boys cut. Hed been in the chair so long he actually handed me my phone back because he was tired of watching cartoons. Probably not going back. Its a shame as we have no options on this side of 288.

This is a review with two parts. I went in to the salon last Friday and got a haircut from one of the stylists (name withheld) and it was horrible. I was very frustrated at the stylist as it seemed she was very inexperienced...and the results showed it. That was a 0 star experience. As I was approaching the register to speak to someone, the owner/manager (Chau La?) came over to me and asked to try and fix it. She was very helpful and did what she could to fix the cut I received. I appreciated her efforts and she did not charge me for any of the services. Still a few days after the cut, there are still issues from it that are apparent. I seriously doubt I will be back any time soon and certainly would not go to that first stylist again but I can say that Chau does very good work and she is very personable. I gave a 3-star review as an average of my overall experience.
