Place my order to go, i ordered the fried perch basket. Got home and i couldn t wait to eat this was the best looking perch I ve seen since I left Illinois. Took one bite and it was to much salt i couldn t eat it, I m on a low sodium diet. God put it on my heart to go and talk to the manager she was so nice and understanding I wasn t expecting to get any more food but she wanted to make it right and she did just that. I can order my perch just the way I like it with no salt. I will definitely be back. for food and service.

My wife had a hankering for shrimp and we wanted to try a new place...new to us....theyve been open 2 years at this brick and mortar location and they have a few food trucks. The Monday thru Friday lunch special fried shrimp and a side....wifey picked fried okra....both were tasty. I went with an Angus cheeseburger with a side of sweet tater fries....the Monday thru Friday lunch special burger can be loaded....yes please! Lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles and grilled jalapenos. The people that have this place are very nice and from Chicago and if enough people express an interest in an Italian beef sammy hell put it on the menu. Well be back. Being right next to a great coffee house doesnt hurt either. Of course we shared.

I ordered Soul Goode for the first time yesterday and it was phenomenal! The second best catfish I ve had in Houston. It was seasoned and fried to perfection, I didn t even add any of the condiments that I normally add to my catfish. My sides were mac n cheese and collard greens. The mac n cheese was also REALLY good and a good portion too. The cornbread was one of the best! It was soft like cake, moist and flavorful (I can t stand hard crunchy cornbread). The greens, I have to admit, were my least favorite. It lacked flavor. It just taste like leaves boiled in water. I didn t taste any chicken broth, smoked meats, seasoning, nothing. The texture was good, just lacked flavor. Greens is one of my specialties so I try them at every soul food restaurant that I go to. This one missed the mark for me. For dessert, I had the banana pudding and it was really good, I enjoyed it. It had an extra kick to it that I don t think I ve tasted before, almost like there was caramel in it. It was really good. My wait was exactly 15 minutes as they quoted when I called in. I would definitely return! My only suggestion is to add meat to the greens.

I m sorry The food was horrible. I came here because i always see a long wait and good reviews. Order the whiting dinner. My cornbread was missing, catfish was so overcooked and rubbery, spaghetti was watery with no seasoning, and the green beans was VERY garlicky but was the best thing I had. I tried to call 5x but was sent to VM or hung up on. Even sent a text message to the number that tells you when your order is ready.. this is a real review, I don t ever see myself going back here after this experience

When I lived in pearland I use to go to this place a lot never had an issue. But for some reason when I stop by today the food was horrible. Mac and cheese dry no flavor cabbage lack flavor no season at all. The chicken wings were small and they only gave me three and I ordered a dinner plate . And I paid 26 dollars. I am officially done with this place.

I really enjoy their sides! The Mac and cheese is my go to when I don t want to make it myself. Yams, cabbage, and green beans are all good. Potato salad is okay, doable. I ve had the salmon bites and they re good and my little sister had the shrimp and enjoyed it. Their cornbread tastes like cake, it s so good! I have tried their chicken wings on two different occasions and both times I was not a fan. It tastes like the grease is old. I ll be back but definitely not for their chicken wings.

Everyone was nice. I did a to go order so I wasn t too concerned with ambiance. I drove 25 min to try this place due to the reviews I saw on Instagram. Big sighhhh. The best thing on my plate was the fried catfish which was well seasoned. Mac and cheese was pretty dry and little flavor . Candied yams taste like it came from can no added effort to season. I m also very big on the quality of tartar sauce that restaurants provide for the catfish and it was packets. So this was definitely a one and done restaurant for me. I give the food a 5/10.

Cabbage was good as well. My son had the chicken strips with fries. He devoured the fries, and the strips were so juicy. My husband ordered the pork chop dinner with mac and cheese and spaghetti. We highly recommend trying out Soul Goode when you visit Houston, Texas. You will not be disappointed.

So, there I was at Soul Goode in Pearland, TX, on a Saturday afternoon. The place was emptier than my inbox during a long weekend Im talking tumbleweeds and echoing footsteps. The dynamic duo at the counter seemed to have a sideline comedy convo about menopause. They were passionately discussing hot flashes, and I couldnt tell if it was the AC or their stories that made the place warmer. But lets talk about the real stars: the $10 daily specials. Its like theyre handing out golden tickets for flavor adventures. I indulged in their fried catfish filet and a side of spaghetti, which I can only describe as a taste explosion it was so good, I almost forgot I was eavesdropping on menopause tales. Then theres the Soulaid move over, Kool-Aid, because this concoction is the real MVP. Its like they bottled joy and added a dash of secret happiness. I think Im addicted. Now, if only more people would discover this hidden gem. I was so surprised that it was so empty on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe I came after the rush, but more people need to walk through these doors. Seriously, folks, its like having a party in your mouth, and everyones invited. Lets make Soul Goode the hottest spot in Pearland even hotter than those menopausal hot flashes!

So Soul Goode!!!! After many visits here and a few hiccups, Soul Goode has earned this review. This is a family business. I am familiar with Aunty Carolyn and Mr. Robert. From the beginning Aunty Carolyn has always been welcoming and warm. I love that she reviews the reciept of my order and shows me my food before she bags it too! When you dont live close to an establishment this saves a lot of time and frustration because you know everything is there before you leave. Mr. Robert literally makes me feel like a member of the family whenever I visit. Some months ago he made a requested dish for one of my elderly family members. I thought surely hes going to forget and when we visited that Sunday he had the food ready. I was blown away. He also explained that the Spaghetti is made with ground Turkey because everyone doesnt eat beef which explains the flavor. My favorites are the Oxtails with the Rice and Gravy, Yams, Greens, and Corn Bread!!!!!! I have also enjoyed the Jerk Chicken, Pork Chops, and fries. Those yams were slap yo mama (I wouldnt do that) delicious the last time I visited! I can eat off one plate for two days because the portions are always more than enough. There is always a clean place to sit, the ambiance is nice, and there is always pleasant music playing. Just Soul Goode!

The first time I stopped by they had just run out of chicken, so I decided to come back another day. The second time, I came in after work one evening to grab something quick and delicious. I can say that Soul Goode delivered on both counts! The ambiance was comforting and laid back. I had a few questions about the menu and the staff was helpful. The restaurant was quiet and empty when I arrived, however soon after I ordered business started picking up. I ordered two dinners. The first one was the Fried Yard Bird with Green Beans and fried okra. The second plate was the Smothered Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Yams. I enjoyed both types of chicken but will give the edge to the fried yard bird. It was fried just right and gave me the feeling of a home cooked skillet of fried chicken. I could almost smell my mom s kitchen when I opened the to go box. The green beans and fried okra didn t disappoint. The cornbread was on point! That was the best cornbread I ve had at a restaurant in a long time. It tasted and felt freshly made. The mashed potatoes were great. The yams were so good! They are a must try! Overall I devoured everything I ordered at Soul Goode. This has to be the best soul food restaurant I ve tried in Pearland so far. This southern comfort food reminds me of something my mom would have made back home. I ll definitely be back here for that home cooking style. Looking forward to trying the Fish, Pork Chop, Fried Green Tomatoes and Banana Pudding next time.

Everything on my plate was GoodT. I tasted the fish on my friends plate and yes Lort. Everything was fried to perfection. I never get spaghetti anywhere, but I tried it and it was good. The beans and rice are good. My only issue is I would have liked more bean juice, it was slightly dry, but STILL the flavor was hitting. I just poured some lousiana hot sauce on them and went to town. Now, my only issue overall was when I ordered another piece of cornbread for $2.71 and it was the side of an old folks sausage. I explained to the little girl at the counter, politel, why I would be refunding it and I could tell by her facial expression that I annoyed her with my request. In the end she gave a piece comparable to the piece that came with my plate. Yes, the cornbread is good and ion like nobodys cornbread!

It took 22 minutes to get my food which wasnt too bad. I got the fried catfish with spaghetti and mac and cheese. The fried catfish was very good. 10/10 But the spaghetti reminded me of school lunch which wasnt too bad 6/10. The Mac and cheese was not good at all 1/10. The food came in a to go box which cause some of the spaghetti sauce to spill on my catfish and mac and cheese.

Went with a party of 6 and we were the first customers in the establishment on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered smoothly at the register and had great conversation with the cooks and server. We ordered a kids chicken tender meal, grilled lobster and grilled shrimp with side salad and green beans, fried lobster and chicken wings with Mac and cheese and green beans, spaghetti with wings and red beans and rice. We waited a hour and the grilled order was incorrect. They had to remake which was another 25 minutes before I could eat my meal. The lobster was jumbo PERFECT size the shrimp was 5 pieces very small not worth $30. The green beans were very seasoned and yummy and so was the cornbread! The Mac and cheese had a strange taste maybe the type of cheese used, red beans didn t taste like what I m use to (Louisiana) but was decent and well seasoned. Everyone were satisfied with the wings and spaghetti and my spouse ABSOLUTELY loved the kool Aid! I would definitely eat here again and maybe order Togo to avoid wait time!

First of all, I grew up on soul food. My family would cook on Sundays and eat till we were stuffed. So I know good soul food when I came across it. Soul Goode is definitely, Goode. My family and I were in the area as we plan to move to Sienna which isnt too far away. My wife already had Soul Goode on her list of places to try. Though we were mostly impressed with the food quality, I have some suggestions on how the restaurant could improve. When we got there, there was plenty of parking. As we walked in, we could hear modern r&b music that is a perfect theme for this establishment. The playlist was great. Its self seating. There is no wait staff really and its pretty much just random tables and chairs with condiment holders on each table. What I found impressive was the huge mural paying homage to the south side of Chicago. Being a Chicago native myself, this was automatically a plus in my book. We later found out that this a family owned and operated restaurant and the family is from Chicago. This place is not very big but there are 2 restrooms, a service station counter for napkins, utensils etc, and a random ice cream cart. You can still sit comfortably without feeling cramped. My wife and I placed 2 different orders. She went first to order the kids chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, regular fries and bottled water. That came out to just over $18. I went up and ordered food for her and myself. She ordered the lobster/shrimp meal with fried okra, mac n cheese and yams as sides. I ordered fried catfish with fried shrimp, yams, and mac n cheese with 2 diet cokes. Each meal came with a piece of cornbread. We also ordered a peach cobbler for dessert. That all came out to just over $76. It took about 15 minutes to get all of our food. We picked a table and went up to order. The cashier basically was our server as well. She brought everything to our table. The shrimp looked like jumbo shrimp. They were perfectly fried and seasoned. Nice and hot. My wife enjoyed the okra and it looked to also be fried perfectly. My catfish was my favorite dish. It was golden brown, fresh, flavorful and presented well with sprinkles of dried parsley on top. The yams were not good to me but my wife enjoyed them. They were swimming in syrup and tasted like a sugar-first kind of recipe. I was not a fan. They did present well, however. The mac n cheese was also delicious. Unique flavor for a classic soul-food-type mac n cheese. I did get a few overcooked pieces of elbow macaroni in there but it didnt demote the dish. It also tasted like there was some sort of msg added and there were a few bites where it tasted a bit too salty. But still really good. Cornbread just tasted like cake instead of sweet cornbread. It wasnt bad, but I wouldnt have missed it if it wasnt on my plate. My wife wasnt a fan of the fried lobster and wasnt really sure what they were trying to accomplish with that dish. Peach cobbler was not ready right away so we got it to go. To me, I think for the prices you pay, the restaurant needs to be a true sit-down establishment with actual servers and wait staff. The poor cashier woman was there by herself trying to serve everyone, take orders and help out in the back. Even though it is optional, I hate the pos payment kiosks that ask for a tip before you pay. Historically, tips are for true wait staff, not someone that just drops your food to your table. Of course, we tipped and we also do but to tip 20% on those prices, youd expect the experience to feel like it. Its also your responsibility to completely clean your own table. They have signs for this at every table. Would we come back? Absolutely. No question. We enjoyed the food. The place was clean, it has a goode vibe (see what I did there?), and the cashier/server was helpful. I would just suggest figuring out a way to get true wait staff and more help to make the business run more efficiently. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu, booster seat and a high chair

Went to Pearland location for the first time No fried chicken on Sundays, ordered something else and paid only to be told there was no more BAD BUSINESS, if you don t open until 12, your inventory wasn t counted correctly and there was no communication among staff, I am annoyed to be charged only to wait for my refund. How do you not have enough food when you just opened at 12pm; it was only 1:45???

I hate to write this review but I need management to do better quickly. The extremely long wait of 1hr for salmon bites, perch basket and fries and mac n cheese was absurd. I was informed only after requesting my money back for the long wait and frustration of continued wait that they needed to thaw out more perch and that contributed to the wait?? Why wait to advise so long in the wait. The mac n cheese was disgusting. Had a soapy taste and somewhat like powdered cheese, the perch basket with fries were missing the fries and were so small they look chicken tenders, the salmon bites were salty and taste more like catfish bite then salmon bites. I was extremely disappointed. I will say thank you for trying to make it right offering a drink and with no argument giving me my money but I need management to know the time I lost sitting there waiting for our food cant be replaced as well as being left to have to find some place to eat. Last comment... its HOT here, please turn the air conditioning on. Its bad enough the long wait and even worse in a hot environment. Sincerely, Disappointed customer

I am not hard to please when it comes to food. I m not from the south so I usually think ALL the food down here is good! It s rare I don t like something s to the point that I won t eat it. However, this food was a waste of money. For starters the Mac and cheese is imitation cheese think velveeta and shells. Chick fil A has better mac&cheese, seriously! The yams were bland and the peach cobbler tasted as if they dumped a peach fruit cup in a container and laid raw pie crust on top. The syrup was thin and runny and had little to no cinnamon or nutmeg. Pie crust was not brown. It just seemed like no passion was put in to making the food. And to top it off it s VERY expensive! The place looks clean, the cornbread and salmon bites were good, and it s in a nice area. If you have to try it, go when there s a special DON T PAY FULL PRICE because this food is very mid like the kids say now!

I just happened to run into this place by accident, and boy, oh boy . The restaurant is clean and the decor is pretty cool. I was greeted with a smile and informed of the days special. I got the porkchop, and fried okra. It was seasoned to the ancestors satisfaction and fried to perfection. I will definitely be back ON PURPOSE, to try out other items on the menu.

Oh my! I was terribly disappointed. I purposefully went to this restaurant on a recommendation. I wish they hadnt. The prices do not reflect the quality of food taste nor texture. Served on to-go Styrofoam and required to buss own table. Green beans very garlicky m/c a bit dry; not creamy. Wings had no seasoning. Banana pudding had no bananas and was brownish and lacked bananas flavor. Oh well...lesson learned.

My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant and I am so glad we picked Soul Goode in Pearland! We had jerk chicken with rice and beans & mac and cheese; pork chops with spaghetti and fries. Dont judge my side combo, lol...I wanted to try my two favorite sides. Pork chops were battered and fried perfectly and the fries were well seasoned and crispy....but that spaghetti.....Perfection! Well seasoned meat and flavor packed sauce. And dont sleep on that cornbread....yummy yum yum! We were extremely happy with the service and felt the prices matched the portions. Excellent food! We will be back!

Lets start. The location is good, and the place is pretty clean! Very well kept! At the counter, the server was very attentive, although I asked for my food for dine in, and they had it as to-go. All good. Now, I am slightly biased as I am from SW Louisiana. So here are my thoughts on the food. I believe it to be sub-par. 30 dollars for shrimp, fried okra, mac and cheese, cornbread and banana pudding. The shrimp were large and had a good flavor. Not much breading at all. Okra... needed seasoning. Its plentiful but bland. Mac and cheese.....nope! Tastes like great value brand mac and cheese. My husband said it did not like it at all. It was very dry and had noooo flavor at all. It was extremely operated. Cornbread, I give it a 3.5 out of 5. It wasnt southern cornbread Banana pudding was pretty good! A lot of cookies, but good. Needless to say, I dont know yet if we will return. But I am hoping for improvement for this black owned business. They have potential!!

If youre looking for a good soul-filling meal of something deep fried and delicious, this is your spot. On both occasions that Ive been, Ms. Carol has helped me and she is so sweet! She walked me through the menu and was very patient. My favorites so far are the salmon bites, catfish and pineapple lemonade. I cant wait to try the alligator, pork chops and wings. There groceries are good, too. Be prepared to wait a bit while they cook your food as you order, but know that it is well worth your wait. Also be prepared to spend a bit - an average of 20 to 25 per person. Nevertheless, Ill be a patron at this location for a very long time.

I honestly wanted to like this place. I got the fish entree with fried okra and Mac and cheese I also got fried pickles and a pound cake. The fried pickles had zero flavor and any real pickle taste. The fried fish was fried good but again had zero flavor and just tasted of fish and same for the fried okra zero flavor for the worst part of the meal the Mac and cheese was very dry and no flavor seemed like Kraft Mac and cheese. Then lastly the pound cake was absolutely one of the best pound cakes I ve had that was the only thing that saved the place

I discovered that they have some ties to my hometown Chicago, so I had high expectations and it DID NOT disappoint! Its FYE! (If youre from Chicago then you know what that means!)
